I meant to post earlier to thank you both, RogueSeraphim and James_Joyce!
    Much appreciated.
I don't know if we met and/or talked at all at the meet and greet (J_J you weren't wearing the red bow tie).

Alright... I couldn't find the one picture I was remembering, but there is this link in this thread here.
I have to run out for now, so I can't finish my search for the pic!

I am kind of wondering how I add different channels and how I find out what my Global is and I think it said that I could not Email until I was lv 10. I did go and buy the game and now have subscribed. So I should be good to go and be able to be reached in game. I will try my best to figure out how to add channels and hopefully will see some of you guys in the game. I will prob create a couple more alts on different servers once I get used to the game and gain a couple more levels on Blue.

    Haha, congratulations on your freedom!

Easiest way to join channels is to right click on the chat window and choose "Join Channel", I believe (pulling this from my tired mind, at the moment). A window will open up for you to type which channel you wish to join. You'll just have to type in the exact name of the channel and you'll be set.
You can right click on the different chat windows and edit it to display different channels. And make multiple tabs to separate certain channels and switch back and forth to check things and whatnot.
Nothing to worry about, but, eventually you'll probably be interested in doing so.

And Wildclaw is right. Open up your options (easiest way is to hit \ and then the O key) and look through and see what you might like to change, both for fun and for comfort.
I don't know why the default mouse control is the way it is (Assuming it still is that way), but I was so happy when I finally inverted the mouse control (the Pitch, I think).

All in all though... I suggest not over-thinking. There are complexities, but they're rather simple once you get into them (Enhancements, the different kinds, the different tiers as you level, inventions, invention enhancement sets, standard inventions... Choosing what to slot and what to put in them and what powers to pick when... Best not to get worried about it. Learn when you want, leave it for another time when you just want to play).

And, on that note, I'll stop typing for now!
  4. Welcome aboard!
It definitely sounds like you found your home.

What Father Xmas said was all true and possibly even understated.

Just hop on, play and enjoy smashing, blasting, hacking, and/or knocking enemies around and watch them fly, fall, stumble, dangle...
The community is great, the content is thick and varied and the game itself is just fun.

I guess just a little bit of info for you...
If you start making other characters, know also that there are varied ways/paths to leveling up... So, don't feel like you will always go through the exact same stuff each time.
Sounds like you're enjoying going through the Praetorian experience right now and that;s great and, obviously, has variances as you make different choices (As you've seen). So, you can get some different experiences just from starting there alone.
However, there is also Paragon City where the heroes of this world generally start. And, even there, you may go through the beginning contacts and story arcs and follow certain paths throughout your leveling "career", but some times you may skip certain contacts and story arcs, as you follow other ones and out-level things... And next time, you might end up doing things you didn't with the previous character. Plus, you can always just team up with others (Possibly even higher levels, thus missing/skipping your own contacts as you progress) and there are ways to progress just by running around and fighting enemies in the streets, in the sewers and/or just running somewhat random radio missions from your police scanner (And stopping bank robberies along the way).

And then there is also the Villain side, where you generally start in the Rogue Isles. And they have all their own contacts and story arcs and content.

And, of course, there is also player generated content that you, or others, can even tailor specifically for your own characters... story-wise or whatever thrills you most.

You don't need to take that all in now, but I thought you might like to know (In case you didn't already) that while you can absolutely enjoy this game by playing one character and one character only... If you do want to go through it mulitple times with different powersets, archtypes, moral choices, hero or villain... You'll find different content along the way that you likely did not experience previously.
Of course, you can also go through the same stuff over and over by choice, because you like those story arcs/missions so much, hehe.

Most importantly, don't feel rushed. Just enjoy your time pressing keys and playing the game. Enjoy the show... and hopefully, get a little lost in it.

And while I'd never consider trying to convince anyone of adopting any sort of playstyle that one doesn't care for, a lot of "RP" in this game is quite simply having a bit of a concept in mind for a character and enjoying watching or experiencing the action and events as though that character is going through it (Like reading a comicbook or watching a movie)... Really just a dab of make believe.

I only say that because I know role-playing can have a negative stigma attached to it... especially from what I hear about some of your previous game's role-play servers, hehe.

Still... no matter your tastes on any of that stuff... This game is fun and should have you feeling like a kid flipping through comics or playing in the backyard. Just a little, at least!

I hope you enjoy the game nearly as much as I do!

    And again... welcome aboard!!
  5. And besides...
This thread will always remain current.

Many of us seemed to slack on the name tag thing...
I was looking for any and all CoH players, and namely ones from this thread, but I only found one or two of you! Although, I did meet many other CoH players in the process.

I had a great time. I mostly (Almost entirely) was in the upstairs area.
Got there and hung out with WW/Melissa and Noble Savage/David and (And Avatea with chocolate and various goodies). Chatted with WW and a bunch of other players for a long time and most of the early part of the night.
We all sat down for a while. I was the guy sitting next to WW on my left and my wife on my right, in case any of you came over when WW and everyone were sitting down.

They are all so damn nice, it is a thrill to get to see them when I can.
It was great to meet Avatea finally. What a sweet and awesome individual! I wish I had gotten to chat more. My wife did, apparently, and was just filling me in a bit, haha

I'm already forgetting some of the names... Two guys from Triumph who were very excited to do CoH dances on the dance floor (And their enthusiasm almost had me joining them... almost, but that's a pretty remarkable feat!).
Was great meeting Transcendent One and Tankette (spelling?), Fulmens and wife (same name as my mother's, but I don't think she had a forum handle), Smeghead and wife (Why doesn't she play, Smeg??), joined in on a great conversation with Hallowed and David, there were a number of guys hanging around talking with WW when I came in, who's names I do not remember... I tried to shake hands and introduce myself to everyone...
Got to spend time with Blacksun17 (Who we met at Boston!) and Charnage and had some fun and occasionally slightly wacky conversations throughout the night!
Blacksun and I were looking for Mishi... We kept looking down at the dance floor and wondering if you were there!
Then we saw a girl up near us, that possibly looked like your forum avatar... So, I began shouting "MISHI!! MISHI!!!" and you/she never turned or reacted... So, I suddenly figured that I had the wrong person and was rudely/oddly yelling "MISHI!!" at them...
I bet that was you though... I should have walked up, lol.

I had a wonderful time, but after coming home and checking this thread, I am annoyed with myself for not trying harder to find out who other people were and all.

Avatea was there with the name tags and all, so it is not her fault... Some of us just slacked off on that!! And now I do regret it.

Still, I had a great time and want to be adopted by the CoH Team!

And... next time, I will make it a point to try and talk some with Ghost Falcon/Jesse. Each time I've met him, he seems super nice and cool and somehow the nights go by and I find the only other thing I've said to him is goodbyes/goodnights, hehe.

I spotted Black Pebble and he is indeed evil and has the whole team brain-washed with his evil magics. We have begun weaving counter spells in attempts to save our wonderful CoH Team.
May the force be with us all.

Next time... If you see a pale guy with blue eyes and long hair, wearing all black... run up and say HI and tell him to put on a name tag!!!
And I'll shake your hand or give you a hug or tell some sort of joke (And maybe give you a gift).

    That's great

I was thinking about Name Tags earlier...
I remember at the Boston Meet and Greet, a lot of people weren't sure what to put on theirs.
I put my Forum Handle and my real name (And my global name too, hehe).

Would be nice to spot forum handles and be able to put faces to names that I'm used to seeing and whatnot.

  13. Mr. Bruce...
Thank you so much for championing Power Customization. You were a champion of the players. One of us that worked to become a prominent developer for the game.
You are forever a huge part of this game, whether you currently work on it or not.

I'm sure things will go well for you seeing your great work and amazing wit.

I am sad that I never got to make it out to the HeroCons and that you weren't at the Boston Meet and Greet... Fly out to NY and come hang out Friday night. I'd love to chat it up some.

    Best of luck, big guy!
    And thank you!

First off... RESIDENTS tribute band!!!! I didn't expect to see THAT here!! Heehee!

It's funny, as I was struggling to think about the question posed (And fending off the tumbling mountain of desires), "what costumes do you wish to see?"...
The one that rises to the top of my wishes is the round transparent fishbowl helmet!!

And that is exactly what I was thinking... It can cover a lot of different concepts. Just a somewhat generic, somewhat goofy staple that I've always wanted to see in this game, hehe.

I also want to see Monster Feet for non Monstrous legs.

And... I really need a beaver-like tail. And I could use a proper duck bill.

And lots and lots more... And I really want to see things come back to regular issues and not so much of these booster packs.
I have friends who are considering playing, but they've never played mmorpgs and are still not sure about the whole "pay to play thing", you know how it is for first timers...
But then... We have GvE, Wedding, Cyborg, Magic, Science, Martial Arts, Mutant, Mac's Valkyrie set, GoRo Complete Collection (Which would be what they'd get though, I'm sure)... So, that's at least $70 behind the times beyond just buying the game.
As soon as they see that, they see that not only do they have to pay a monthly fee, but the company keeps charging additionally for more content and many people will turn and run (Regardless of how reasonable it may or may not be).
  15. That is great!
There is nothing wrong with that... Day, Harris, Fillion are just generic last names... good grief, hehe...
    And...

It is a tried and true classic comicbook tradition to throw tributes, gags, references in the background where ever possible without ruining anything.

This is a perfect example... Well played, Positron!!

What we need is a Stan and Kirby... but, unfortunately, that might be difficult, all things considered.

Hehe, thanks for the post, DR.
  16. So very happy and thankful to see another fine team working to continue a great service to the community!

    Thank you, so very much!

  17. Oh, there is an answer to the why...
But the very nature of that answer precludes any benefit from naming it.

    Humans are insane.

Also, it's interesting to me that OmniSurge (Hello, OmniSurge!) asks these questions and points out his thoughts that it is rather odd, but also follows through on teaching his children that swearing is wrong for them to do.
Don't get me wrong, it is best to let children know that other people take issue with certain things and it is in their best interest to avoid doing those things in most situations, for the time being... But I just found it an interesting aspect of it all.

I suppose tradition is basically when they why is left out of the practices people follow.

Unlike when the Y is left out of pygmy.

Alas, insanity is just a natural part of the human condition.

"Sanity is a lie. Insanity is their strawman."

EDIT: Oh, and good post, Mr. Heatstroke!
  18. Right, I figured we could copy over the talk pages if we wish.
And, yes, I wondered if the embedding feature could alleviate some of the picture/file hosting issues! I really only have one file that I don't think I could get under 150, but I could even be wrong about that.
    Excellent!

And, as for you being busy with that all weekend...
I shall say a toast to you at the NYCC Meet and Greet!
    Thanks again!
  19. Hehe, I meant to reply to your previous post...
I'm both very happy and excited and a little worried/concerned and a bit sad that I need to fix my under 300mb but over 150mb images!
    And the talk pages.
However, I don't want to come off as sounding negative... As I know that the benefits will outweigh the negatives!
I really hope that the embedding feature will not be abused and works out. That alone could be great.

    I hope all goes well!

Will we be making new user accounts with the move? (That's what I assume, anyway, with the removal of user accounts and the new spiffy registration)

Thanks a ton to all those involved!
You don't even get half of half (maybe even less) the credit you deserve!

I'd think that the people's love for that work is shown in the rampant usage of the service.
    Thank you!
  20. Basically... If you just kill a few of my and others family members, you're just a villain...
But, if you follow through and kill ALL humans... Then my corpse will applaud you.

    (Looking forward to seeing this!)
  22. Oh, absolutely, Fire_Away.

That's all I am interested in... Having the discussion, hearing their thoughts, finding out if there is any info to be shared now.

The best you can ever really hope for is planting a seed (making that connection and getting someone to understand and possibly agree with you on a certain point).

Actual development takes a lot of time. So, if nothing is being done currently and nothing has been done already, no one is going to see actual large in-game changes any time soon.
We've all seen that we do have some low hanging fruit options that would go a long way. So... there's some hope.
I'm, honestly, mostly eager to get some clarification on WW's vague comments about future base improvements.
I'll be happy just getting some clarification (Good or bad) on that (good, very much more so preferred!).

Honestly, at the Boston Meet and Greet, they didn't back away from any (Game Related, ahem) topic. There were quite a few PvPers who had a lot to say and things were discussed rather freely.

    So, no worries, for sure.
I had a blast, last time, getting to talk with Posi and WW individually and in large groups. Lots of great stuff and very very cool people.
And not just them, everyone was super nice, open and friendly.
I'm really looking forward to seeing some of them again. And meeting more players!

I really doubt both of those, and I'll 'splain why.

First off, the Meet and Greets are really a fun, casual affair and I don't want people thinking I am going there with to aggressively raise a big fuss over any specific topics.
I do, however, intend to talk about bases and get a few thoughts off of my chest and into WW's head (and anyone else interested). Mainly just to direct attention to our concise list of things, this forum, this community and my thoughts on how a little love would go a long way.
Secondly, I hung around at the Boston Meet and Greet and there was plenty of open and honest discussion about PvP. They weren't shy or backing down and everything was very cool.
I thoroughly enjoyed just hanging out with WW and Positron and having a lot of casual, interesting conversations about a number of aspects of the game.
And WW should remember me, I'm sure. She's a really sweet person and did her best to really give everyone who wanted it some attention (Including to listening to an ongoing rant about the PvP changes as we were all supposed to be leaving, hehe, keeping me by because she wanted to hear something else I had said I wanted to mention).
All I am saying is that, it'll be a respectful exchange and I am quite interested to convey my (many of our) thoughts directly to her in person and see and hear what she has to say about it.
I'm very interested in what she can explain about her comments on the whole "finer tune control" thing for the future... and just bases in general.
And I even had a brief correspondence with her afterward, focused on her thoughts on some work I had done in my profession.

I know those replies were in jest and all, but I just didn't want to give any wrong impressions. I'm a straight shooter and I've been doing so much base editing lately that there is no question it is currently the top thing on my mind, concerning the game. So, it's going to come up big time, hehe, but these things are very cool and I have a lot of respect for the Devs I have met in person and truly look forward to hearing their thoughts.

I know none of that was probably necessary for me to post... but... Hey, I had some time to kill

I've been thinking about maybe putting a still of my avatar on something, a tag or a t-shirt... I wonder if that would stick in people's heads more.
