As a redside player: bite me. Villains have always had to work for their epic pools while Heroes got them for free. Now Heroes have to work to get Villain epics, just like Villains do, while both Heroes and Villains get the Hero epics for free. It's about time bluesiders had to do a little work for a change.

I barely qualify for the question, being a 38-month veteran, but I still play because I still have fun with my pretendy-fun-time dress-up smashy-fest. And where else can I get a pretendy-fun-time dress-up smashy-fest?

Using the mastermind attacks - especially the AOE each set gets - is a good way to hold aggro. Mastermind attacks aren't the horrible things they're often billed as; the only real downside to a mastermind's attack over another AT is that they have high endurance costs, but overall endurance use for MMs is pretty low, so this shouldn't be too much of an issue. AOE attacks, Provoking, and debuffs do a pretty good job of keeping foes focused on you.
In the case of /pain, healing has a minor taunting effect as well (I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it seems to me that healing someone's target seems to count as if you had damaged that enemy by about as much as you healed) so making sure you keep yourself and your henchmen healed might help with that as well.
If you are not making direct attacks yourself, however, you're not going to hold aggro very well. Taunts are aggro multipliers, and work best if you have some aggro to multiply. -
I has it, and let me say, the new auras are pretty slick.

Bugs are things in places that you don't want them that don't have fur (the furry ones are called pests). Spiders are bugs.

Quote:The costumes are the core of my objection. If they released the veteran costumes for everyone in some way other than veteran rewards, I'd probably stop complaining about veteran rewards (barring some other unforeseen change in policy for future rewards). The only complaint I ever got from them was that the costume pieces should not be a part of the Vet System and I personally agree with that.
I throw City Traveller in there just because it's so much of a game changer - both in freeing up a power pick for many characters (a lot more of my characters would have Flight if they didn't have to get Hover or Air Superiority first) and for making the early parts of the game less tedious by allowing quicker travel sooner; however, the devs have taken steps to alleviate its effects, first with the Natural Pack (and Ninja Run,) then with Issue 18/Going Rogue and the flight speed boost, and coming soon with Issue 19 and Inherent Fitness. All those do a lot to make City Traveller less extreme of a bonus, but when I started this campaign none of these steps had been taken yet, and it's still a principle I disagree with. -
I play mostly villains. Villains rarely become villains without a) being horribly broken in the first place or b) having something horrible happen to them. Neither case ends well for a responsible creator.

Brutes' base damage is lower than Tankers. However, the amount of Fury generated from a single attack should be enough to boost their damage above Tankers (or at least get pretty close).
Brutes compare to Scrappers a lot closer. However, higher health means higher regen; higher caps also make the Brute stronger in team settings.
In general, Scrappers should outdamage Brutes who outdamage Tankers. Tankers can take more punishment than Brutes who can take more punishment than Scrappers.
The gap in those chains between Tankers and Brutes are actually a lot bigger than the gaps between Brutes and Scrappers. On paper, the difference doesn't seem to be that much, but at least in my personal experience, I can definitely feel the difference. -

Quote:Cool. I think your rules are kind of stupid and short-sighted.Sure we're pretty ok with that. Please do be careful not to let it go into personal attacks though.
I don't use that as a personal assessment of anyone employed by Paragon Studios or NCSoft, however.

Oh, I sit corrected. There is a good side to the new forum rules!

Am I allowed to post that I think your rules are kind of stupid and short-sighted?

Eiko would shoot me, on the spot, insisting no one controlled her or her destiny.
The Violet Valkyrie would tell me I looked nothing like Hel.
Stacy Wu would demand to know when I was going to get around to that whole "women of the Tsoo" idea, since that was what started all this mess.
Lapin Lazuli would shrug, thank me for making sure things turned out so well in the end, and then ask if it was really necessary she lose the eye. She'd probably be a little angry if she found it was simply so I could give her a pink eyepatch and pretend she was General Beatrix once in a while. -
Quote:Keep in mind that not only does the Freak resist lethal, but the Carnie is susceptible to lethal. I think it might be as much as -20% lethal resistance on Carnies.Depends on your definition of "acceptable". My BS/Regen scrapper has serious issues with some enemies despite having two achilees heel procs available. at two extremes, a +1 Freak Tank boss only takes 130-ish damage from my Headsplitter, and a +0 Carnie Master Illusionist takes 504 exactly. I really don't enjoy the degree to which lethal is resisted.

I think the fact that they're both DP is even more reason to pick the Corruptor over the Blaster. Corruptors have better debuff modifiers than Blasters, and thus the secondary effects of all your ammo types (aside from Incendiary) will be stronger with the Corruptor than the Blaster.
In other words, DP is "better" at what really makes it as a powerset with non-Blasters. -

There's a reason we use "F2P" to mean Free To Play in these conversations, and it's not because we're lazy, trying to be cute, or like textspeak. It's because "FTP" already means something in computer parlance, and has for over forty years. Please don't confuse things by making up your own acronyms.

CoH is far more successful than the other MMOs that have been going free, and may not need to consider such options to increase revenue.

Masterminds have the second best values for Leadership redside (and, I believe, about third best overall) - they're roughly tied with Corruptors (slightly better on some powers, slightly worse than others). VEATS and Defenders are the only ATs that get definitely better numbers.
They're not bad at all; Assault and Tactics are together about 50% bonuses on Supremacy. -
Quote:Hi, I'm someone.I'd like to make a suggestion, and yes I'm sure someone out there won't like it, but I'd like to see a vet reward that just lets me chose the first or second power from both primary and secondary pools at creation. I don't think it would be game breaking, and some of the choices would just be nice to have, whether I took them or not.
My objection to veteran rewards is based on a simple principle: I am utterly against veterans getting abilities other players cannot replicate. Exclusive costumes, City Traveller, and this proposal would all qualify. (The permanent Temporary Powers do not qualify, however, as each one is available from some story arc that can be repeated in Ouroboros, so these bonuses are available to other players.)
I can see the value of Veteran Rewards in the form of "nice little bonuses so you don't have to do as much work now that you've been playing so long". "Nice little bonuses that give you abilities/options completely new", on the other hand, are divisive and destructive; especially at this late date, new players aren't going to see a 6+ year reward as something "great to look forward to", but something they will never get, thus making veterans "better" than them. You do not want new players feeling like they will never catch up and never get the good stuff if you keep adding bonuses like this to the end of the rewards cycle, and thus rewards need to be those that give a bonus, but not an insurmountable advantage. -
Ah, right, sorry, my confusion. MacArthur's not really any better in that quality than McCarthy, though.
