Thanks for the well wishes, everyone.
My position is 'potentially redundant' within the Brighton office, and at the current time I intend to accept voluntary redundancy. I'm not interested in living in the US.
[/ QUOTE ]
Damn. Sorry, Alex. I hope that the "potentially" doesn't mean "certainly", but in these times we live in...
Can we do anything to help? Letters, poster campaign, burlesque flyer girl squad, sending sacks of peanuts to NCWest HQ... -

Q: What did the Zombie say to the Kings Row ******?
A: Keep the tip.

....that's soooo grim, mumsie.
I say I say I say... Did you hear about the sweet-toothed supervillain who stole nothing but puddings?
He had to be taken in custardy.
...I'll get me cape. -

And Tizer.... "you can tell it's Tizer when your eyes are shut!"

If I wanted to derail the thread, I'd have to mention Quattro (and spectacular Durannie hair) at this point. But I don't.
Morning GR... more beer? -
Just to add: I, too, am going to miss GR. He was a tough but fair mod doing a tough but fair job in a tough but fair way.
(God, sounds like the VoG intro to a Stephen J. Cannell series - GhostRaptor, Network Ranger. I think it could work.)
Having said goodbye to three long-term colleagues yesterday, it's never easy either for those leaving or those staying behind to face the Sword of Damocles.
Big up NC Brighton - you're doing a fabulous job. Hang on in there. -

...can't be Bridger then
I'd object to the Dooooooooooom™ thread, but then I'd have to object to everything on the BBC News site right now. Especially the price of tea. -
Maybe it's early morning and caffeine levels are nowhere near nominal operating point, but I couldn't see the Imperious/Cimerora TF on there at all?
-
...I could so go for a Stay Puft Marshmallow Man GM right now.
Not in-game, I'm just hungry -

No, the most essential part is the monitors. Every supervillian needs lots of big monitors, even if you don't use 'em for anything...

Terry Pratchett at his desk
( from http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ers_Episode_1/ )
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. Even Terry Pratchet has lots of big monitors.
[/ QUOTE ]
And when asked why he has 6 monitors, he answers....
"Because I don't have room for 8"
[/ QUOTE ]
He does have room for a cat bed though. Wonder if it gets on with the carnivorous plants? -

Yes, because they wouldn't be serving any food in the insane asylum...

They live on a diet of electricity and enemas.... sometimes both.
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds like some supervillain's origin story. Not one you'd want to stand in the same room as, but that's hardly surprising, is it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds better than dieting. -

What happened to the US forums?

We've been playing a beta all this time?

Well, yeah, did you not get the e-mail? All our toons get wiped on Sunday and we get to start all over again from Monday! \o/

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
As far as action by Nemesis goes - think its more likely an emergency board lock, or the transition to new forums, and they haven't changed the message over (or the URL on the main site). Never suspect conspiracy where mere chance or a screaming boss forcing you to hurry will suffice.
Now, you all just get back to your TPS reports.Nothing to worry about. And who made the coffee this morning? *bzzt* -
Yep - VEAT career track powers rock, particularly NightWidows. I only lost interest in my VEATs at 39, when the Grandville Grind gets underway
-
Oh, god. Lawyers.
Ran into this one just before Christmas - had to cancel a live webchat with Santa because a random lawyer popped out of nowhere (they do that), thought he'd need a CRB check, and blocked the project.
The CRB themselves, when I rang up, thought the request was pretty idiotic. An internet chatroom - particularly one like ours, which would have been on webcam and had PMs disabled - is a public forum where everyone can see what's going on - it's not like they could do anything.
Points to note:
- law regulates sites used "wholly or mainly" by children and vulnerable adults, which being tethered to a credit card subscription game, it ain't.
- A CRB check isn't actually that much of a pain to do anyway, so long as you tick the right boxes - it does just take a tedious hour of form filling and a three-week wait. (Unusually for UK.gov, the CRB people I've dealt with are very friendly, professional and helpful, and can walk you through this).
I foresee no doom for us here, sorry.
Warcraft (who use publically-available Game Time cards, and an army of mods) may have some minor issues, but could simply move their entire customer service team to their French offices and tell UK.gov to foudrez-nous le camp (ou quelquechose de tel). -

Zavvi (RIP) still carried a few GvE boxes at its demise. But to be honest, would you rather NCSoft be spending its hard-won, er, won on boxed product or on game development?
When Architect comes out - which is a "share and enjoy" feature a la Neverwinter Nights, I'd say that's worthy of a box set relaunch. Until then...

How many of us live in Stevenage, now? I can count at least four.

For that part of the world, I'd say "survive" was more appropriate than "live". Flee while you can! FLY, YOU FOOLS!!! -
I actually like Defs, and have quite a collection of them. Rad/Rad in particular can be turned into an unstoppable nuclear death machine...
The only AT I have real trouble playing is Tanker, simply because I've never mastered the art of the perfect herd. -

My brain... what are you doing to my brain...? -
-
Hehe... oddly enough, I think Lord Nemesis is too smart after Brass Monday to risk an open confrontation, but I'd love to see the brass cavalry ride in.
Seriously, though, not everything is a Nemesis plot, especially where the Skulls are concerned (Rule 18 of investigations - never suspect conspiracy where mere incompetence is more likely.)
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my TPS reports. *bzzt* -
It's also getting muddier these days with things like Shields' Against All Odds, which debuffs DMG (and therefore works as if it's boosting RES), and Willpower's Rise To The Challenge and Dark's Cloak of Fear, both of which debuff ToHit (and therefore work as if boosting DEF).
...it's all rather confusing, really. -

You probably would if you were a Villain - Heroes are much more clean cut

I resent that - many villains pride themselves on their eloquence and monologuing skills, while the new black leather brigade of 90s heroes swing more Fs than a Crackerville, AL grade school... -
I got one scrapper from 40 to 41 in the last 2 hours- and am going to be putting in a massive overtime claim from work. Weeknights, weekends, birthdays, anniversaries, those I can live with - but only being left with a couple of spare hours on a DXP weekend....
...I think I need a couple hours with my manager to renegotiate my terms. I'm also going to need two reels of gaffer tape, six feet of rubber piping, a cane, half a pint of ralgex and some really nice new heels.
Wonder if I can expense those? -
I've been working all damn weekend. So much precious XP lost... *cries*
