Fire isn't just superior damage. It also has very distinct advantages in a 1 second animation t3 blast (many other t3 blasts have 2+ second animations), very good aoe attacks, and rain of fire which works extraordinarily well with Scourge as well as using blaster base damage. Also, the "lack of" secondary effects really isn't a bad thing, as many secondary effects present in other blast sets can be considered irrelevant in many situations, fire's superior damage is never irrelevant. Infact you could also consider the inverse, what do those other sets sacrifice for those secondary effects (such as good damage or animation times)?

That said , if you don't want to play fire, Rad Blast is certainly an option (moreso if you get all the -res procs and damage procs that make rad good) as is sonic blast for copious amounts of -res. Neither Rad nor Sonic will be on the same level as fire, but if thats not something you particularily care about, then go for it.

That too, but that's the same case for all the ATs with Armor sets.
  3. The only thing I feel scrappers need are taunt components in their damage auras. Otherwise they are fine.
  4. Yes KM is really good on Stalkers, even moreso with the recent stalker changes.

-Burst has a 100% chance to crit from hide.
-CS will insta recharge your BU on "crits"
-The Stalker ATO proc in AS will set up Burst and CS for 100% crit aoe or BU recharge, respectively

I haven't played StJ, but the big thing is that Crushing Uppercut hits like a truck, and with the stalker ATO you're going to be critting with it every single time.

The stalker ATO is a complete game changer, seriously, and KM and StJ are one of the best abusers of the proc.

I said it casually, but it was by no means normal for me. I've never had so much influence on hand at one time before, typically I never really go higher than 2-3 bil, and typically it will take me months to earn that much influence because I don't really farm often and I don't play the market, I only keep as much influence as I need. Double Inf weekend is just my exception.

Btw, the hate, it feels so warm, and refreshing.

That way recipes could be mailed to whomever you want, and you could turn them in to catalysts.
    They *could* have.

    TL;DR: They didn't.

    1-50'd a plant/psi dom and made 6 billion influence.

    Quite pleased with the results.

I think that is the best apples to apples comparison since there are no differences from IO sets, etc. Still this is a purely subjective conclusion because I didn't take specific notes. And seeing "CRITICAL" popup with the scrapper is always gratifying. Plys, I could never get the fury going (Brutes befuddle me a bit).

So, I guess I am happier with the Scrapper on a subjective, enjoyment level. Whether it is more survivable or does more damage in reality, I can't say yet. But it "feels" as though it does to me.

    Does that make sense?
DFB really isn't a good place to compare the ATs. At that level you aren't getting AAO and Shield Charge, which is what makes the set so much better on scrappers. Also at that level the brute should actually be out performing the scrapper because of fury.
  11. Got my plant/psi dom from 1-50
    Leveled various friend's toons from 1-50, 33-50, 35-43, 45-50, and 48-50.

Earned 6 billion influence (as of this post I'm at 5.3 billion, but I should be at my 6 billion goal before it is over), not including the 8 purples I got.

    (edit: 6 bil reached )

Earned more inf this weekend than I have ever earned in any past 2x xps, and I didn't even play as hard as I usually do, (ie, I actually kept my normal sleep schedule and went out with friends on sunday)

I've had a SS/SD Brute and I've had a Fire/Shield Scrapper. It's not even funny how much better SD works on a scrapper, and yes it is very noticeable.

Your first indication is when your foot stomp starts dealing more burst damage than shield charge does, cause fury, rage, and enhancement value will cap out Shield Charge's 300% damage buff, while all your other AoEs wouldn't cap out until 675% dmg buff.
  13. Between Dark and Grav while avoiding Fire and Thorns, I would suggest a Dark/Psi Dom.

I am fairly certain I remember a redname saying such about level, however since I can't find the post, you can disregard it.

Notice the last part. ST holds are on 8s rchgs. You're barely going to be stacking holds faster by using a 2nd hold, as explained by ketch.

Activation times are not the same across all ST holds.

    Dominate/Char is 1.32
    Dark Grasp/Blind is 1.848
    Grav is 1.98
    Ice is 2.112
    Fossilize/Strangler is 2.244
    Tesla is 2.376

Also 2 holds are really not necessary. With a chance for mag 4 (overpower) in your main ST hold along with a grav anchor proc in your mass immob, you should have a plenty high enough chance to hold the target you need to hold, and if neither procs, ST controller holds are a base 8s rchg.

Catalysts also have a higher drop rate vs higher level foes.
  18. You can gain Assassins focus from your primary, like KM's Burst, however aoes from your ancillary will not grant assassins focus.

Being Very Rare only accentuates the issue. Because of the rarity it can take /months/ of farming on the toon you want them on just to get the 6 you need. In reality what you will probably get is a couple catalysts on multiple toons being completely unable to do anything with them because they break your set bonuses until you have the total amount you need.

All I have been doing since i22 release is farming for catalysts and right now this is what it looks like for me: 1 on my dom, 3 on my troller, 2 on my brute, 1 on other brute, 2 on my corr. The only toon to actually use them yet is my dom cause he only needed to slot the proc. All the others can't do anything with them until they get more. I would kill for the ability to transfer them to one toon so i could actually make use of them.

Running only on the character you need them on is not a good solution because of how rare they are, you will spend months farming for them, and for a more casual player, even longer. They are as rare as purples, getting 6 purples for a casual player all on a single toon is a massive endeavor, or massively lucky.

Maybe if defensive sweep boosted s/l instead of s/r there would be an argument for building just s/l, but here it's much better in the endgame to just go for a home run and cap the positionals which provides much better coverage. I usually build for s/l when building for positionals requires far too many build sacrifices to get there, so s/l does the job. But when it's not only possible but encouraged to build for significant positional defense (see defensive sweep), I see no reason not to pass up the Toyota and go for the Mercedes, metaphorically speaking.
If you want to factor in Defensive Sweep as part as your defense though, that means actually using Defensive Sweep, which is a poor option for DPS. Using Defensive Sweep literally means trading damage for survivability (or just a cheaper build)
