Quote:This is what worries me the most. I'm really excited about Hybrid and all that it will offer, in each tree, but for some toons they're plain and simple not going to be able to run a 0.5 eps toggle without some serious build changes or requirement to take Cardiac or Ageless. This thing is expensive. 0.5 EPS base. Presumably Cardiac will reduce that.
My toons typically have powers that will deal with it naturally (heat loss, transference, drain psyche, power sink, etc) but not everyone has that.
Things like the unlock requirement, which = 4-5 runs of the new trial, do not concern me. Infact I am glad that it requires what it does, cause that means more people will be running their +3s longer. I'm honestly tired of the lam/baf/keyes rut that double xp put people in, but that's an entirely seperate matter. -

inb4 the equality nuts that will say "best" doesn't matter in coh blah blah blah
Brute: SS/Fire
Scrapper: Fire/Shield -
It's cast time is rather longish (2.5s before arcanatime, compared to Pyronic's 1s animation) and the aiming of it can be finicky. With that said it can be nice as far as a defensive judgment goes, as it can either absorb an alpha or reset cascading defense failure.

Quote:Psi does have resistance issues, pretty much throughout it's career, but the set itself isn't really low damage. Actually it's AoE is top notch. As for ST dmg that will fall into play once you get a high recharge build with all the procs. With a Hec proc in Mind Probe, an Apoc proc in Subdue (and potentially the ATO +dmg proc), and a Arm proc + glad fury proc in PSW, Psi can do very respectable damage. Even moreso if you take Sleet to deal with resistance.Extremely low damage combination is why. Dominators are a Damage AT, flat-out. That would be why Elec/Psi isn't very popular. Elec is known as one of the lowest damage Primaries, and Psi is one of the lowest damage secondaries, amplified more due to the massive increase of Psionic Resistance enemeis since Goign Rogue back in 2010.
So... yeah. It's got good synergy, but it sacrifices a lot of damage.
Speaking of Sleet, another advantage of Psi is being a fully functional debuffer for teams. Being able to put out perma -1000% regen and 30-70% -res makes */psi/ice doms extremely potent debuffers. Not to mention the 200+ -rech they can put out, although that doesn't really matter as much. The amount of debuffage they can put out helps make up for their lower ST dmg. -
Fastest thing I ever solo'd to 50 was a kat/wp scrapper, since with divine avalanche I could easily farm an outdoor lethal farm in AE pretty much all the way to 50. He was also the /only/ toon I've ever solo'd to 50.

Try doing an apex or tin mage without your alpha slotted (which is an 8 level difference). An Aim/BU'd blaster using total focus does about 15 dmg. You're NOT meant to fight like that, it's not possible, I do not consider that to be supported by the game. Because of the purple patch there is a limit to where you can effectively fight higher level enemies, realistically, that's at +4, +5 tops.

Quote:I like things to be challenging as well. However I don't think that overtuning the trial via level shifts to make the players nearly ineffective against the enemies within the trial is the right way to go about it.All players will only be 15% as effective at +3, and 4% as effective at +0. It is doable, albeit very hard. The trial will have to be built around the fact that players will only be this effective, but if it is done so then I can't wait for it.
I like tough fights. I want the brawl with Tyrant to feel like an all-or-nothing end of the world no-holds bar battle against a foe that is vastly superior to me in nearly every way.
Strong enemies that hit hard and have defensive capabilities along with bosses that make the player think via special mechanics. That's all it takes to make a good trial, and none of that requires reducing the player to 15% effectiveness. -
To be fair, before it was pretty much all tech, us getting alot of magic right now is right on queue, and soon enough it will be back to primarily tech. It goes in cycles. We desperately needed the magic stuff we have been getting though.

Quote:It's going to have to. 54+5 means +3s are going to be fighting +6 enemies. The game doesn't support that kind of level difference because of the purple patch. Not presumably. The livestream showed Black Swan's minions switching con colors from yellow to purple and back when the player was hit with it. That's a 3 level shift right there.
The livestream also had Tyrant at 54+5. If Hybrid doesnt give us a shift, I really hope Genesis does before the next trial cranks it higher. -

I like how it's the exact same time as plactas keyes badge runs, which means the same people who couldn't pull sundays to get the badges when placta was running it won't be able to get them this time either.

Quote:Thanks for posting that, I had only caught the support tree info while I was listening in.Info about the hybrid incarnate slot from the livestram of the magisterium iTrial (straight from Posi):
Four trees:
Assault: Gives stacking increases to damage with each attack.
Control: Gives chance to do damage to controlled enemies or a chance to do more damage to enemies with low health (like containment and scourge).
...
Melee: Increases regen, defense or resistence (PBAoE like Rise to the Challenge).
Support: Is like all the leadership powers rolled into one (+acc, +damage, +defense, +special).
These are toggle powers. -
They just commented on the hybrid slot,
Support tree is going to be like all the leadership pools rolled into one.
They mentioned the other trees also but I wasn't really paying attention when they said those. -
Looked pretty cool, the nuke was awesome, and the AV fights look fun.
-
We don't know.
-
The best thing you can do with it right now is catalyze ATOs you have slotted in your toon, use enhancement unslotters on those superior ATOs, use enhancement converters til you get the ones you want, the gleemail those to the toon you need them on.

Quote:It might act like interface, like hopeling mentioned. So for your Fire/Fire scrapper example, if you went Control tree it would add a mag 2 hold to each of your attacks, or if you went support it would add a debuff to your attacks or a pbaoe buff. Since it is supposed to be able to fill holes in your AT.Yeah, not a lot to go on. I hope it gets a passing mention in the dev stream at MMORPG.com
I don't see how a Control or Support tree can work for all ATs. If you don't have buff powers, does it give you some for the Support tree? Or just affect your Destiny buffs?
Or the Control tree? I mean, it could improve your control durations like Power Boost, but what does that do for say a Fire/Fire Scrapper? Not much. And if that's all it does, how is that functionally different than an Alpha?
.
It might also act as a double power. For example a t4 control hybrid power might be a passive increase to all existing control powers and also be a clickable control power as well, ie it would come in 2 parts.
Really there are alot of ways they could go about it, we'll just have to wait and see at this point. -
Or you could make a plant dom and be a 1000 times cooler. Being able to 100% chance 1 shot confuse bosses is worth it.
