This is not a whine as such but why so short of a test. Some of us (I'm Speaking for the East Coasters) who have jobs, family's or other responsibilities till late afternoon will get very little time with the event if any.
Unless they are planning another test after this one, it seems to be mighty short for finding problems. Something along the lines of last years CoT ghost debacle comes to mind. Especially since it seems they are adding some new things to the mix, which is deeply appreciated.
I guess I'm asking would it hurt terribly to leave it going for the weekend? It seems to me that a lot more feedback would be available to the devs.
2 cents and all that... -
Welcom to the game and forums. As a part of a husband and wife duo I can certainly attest that there is a lot of arresting and bonding goodness that can be had.
Just adding my two cents here with some random observations:
* While there is nothing wrong with any server pick you may prefer to play on, there have been issues with Freedom and Virtue servers during unique events such as double xp weekends, new issue release, etc. They have improved this over time but because they are so heavily populated logging on during these events may be problematic. It doesnt hurt to have a few characters over a couple of diffrent servers for variety, testing, concept reasons or if maybe a server is unavailable you have another resource to indulge in.
* I introduced my wife to City of Heroes over five years ago. I stupidly said "Honey, just try it and see what you think". Two days later I lost my account to her because she didn't want to start her characters over and had to buy a second computer! To this day it's a wonderful way to blow off steam individually or just spend some time doing something together after the toddler has gone to bed.
* As a WOW veteran, you may have already noticed many diffrences between workings of this MMO and the beast. Many people will tell you over time that the journey in City of Heroes is most important and not the destination, nor how fast you try to attain the endgame.
Again, Welcome. -

This event has been on the calander for some time. Planned even before AE was even released so I don't see the conspiracy of AE and the double xp weekend. -

And as another example of the developers trying to bring features to this game that the players request I give you PvP. The game was advertised as being uniqie by not haveing it at launch.
So the very example (PvP) that you are using as the basis of one of your arguements you give in your post came to fruitation because Jack caved in to not only the player base that was crying out for it but pressure from outside sources and the feeling that COH must compete with other MMO's that had PVP.
Regardless if you love or loathe PvP, (I avoid it like the plaque personally), IMO the epic fail was adding PvP to the game in the first place.... -
The OP's sense of self entitlement is just astounding....

Good Job on that... I avoid them like the plaque on my blasters myself because it always seems they one-shot me from a mile away.

I thought the "Military" faction was locked in combat with the Rularu in the Shadow Shard. -

Farming is not against the rules. Exploiting the MA for insane gains is. Patience is needed for new players wether they used the MA for their "high level" character or they started out in Atlas running a sewer team.
I would hope that a new player who has spent most of their time in the MA would soon realize how much they are missing out on and would soon roll a new character to experience everything outside of the MA system. This is after all an alt-itis based MMO. -

I though that I had read in an article that Windows 7 would have an xp compatible mode. Maybe give that a shot. -
I was trying to seperate to Paladines in Kings Row by leading one to the Galaxy entrance to get zapped by the police drones as I have done on an occasion or two before.
I watched both drones hit him almost at the same time and it did nothing to him. When did this change or the time or two I did it before was because he de-spawned? -
IS there anyone Who has a Shield/* Guide out there?

You didn't say whether you uninstalled and updated all your drivers, so possibly something to do with the mouse drivers maybe? -

The very first problem you would run into is being called onto the carpet as a dev darling. Especially true if the ruleing didn't go someones way.
I don't agree with the "known to the public" idea. It has been stated numerous time that only a very small percentage of players ever post on these boards, although the amount of lurkers really can't be quantified. I believe it should be a more randomized or lottery type setup with certain stipulations so that you make sure you get people with enough experience. How you decide that I'm not sure.
My suggestion would be that your committee be rotated out every 3 months or so. That way you get people in there with fresh unique perspectives participateing. -
I though I would give a try since I had some time.
I envisioned a more updated sleeker look to the classical witch:

And since I'm partial to armor types:

Just spent a few minutes on each but maybe will get the creative juices flowing for you... -
From the title I envisioned a certain car with lightening bolts on it.
-
Thanks dugfromthearth. I was hopeing not to destroy it but I'll try to work it inthere somehow.
-
I want to place a couple of automobiles on the Atlas outdoor map and tie ambushes to them but I cant find them in any of my objects list in the MA.
I have most of the unlockables and got this idea from a post I read where someone had placed a car in the sewer network.
Are the car objects tied to a certain unlockable or am I looking in the wrong list?
Any help would be appreciated. -
Not to be a snarkmaster here but you have not updated anything on your OS, downloaded any new programs, or had absolutely zero changes to your hard drive to include java updates or the like?

Just another suggestion but you may find it less painful to buy the new boxed version of city of heroes if you can find it in your local area.
Depending on the speed of your internet connection it could take a long time to download the full game. -
Egad!!!! Wall of Text!!! Eye's Bleeding!!!
-
Here is my first one.
Arc Name: Operation: Undertow
Arc ID: 81942
Faction: Neutral
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Dragon King
Difficulty Level: Easy to Hard depending on your difficulty settings. Several bosses and only one EB in the entire arc. Meant to be lowbie and solo friendly for all AT's.
Synopsis: Help find Undertow and stop her at all cost!!!
Estimated Time To Play: 5 missions - 45 to 60 minutes
Enemy Groups: Family, Sky Raiders, Freakshow Custom Group, Longbow.
Further Comments: one EB but there is an ally to help if needed. There are level gaps but was done trying to keep the flavor of the story. Tested with low and high characters. -

I downloaded the free 14 day trial of CoH
I installed the patcher and downloaded the game, but it won't seem to let me connect to the login server when i run the game. I lowered all my firewalls. I am on vista running on a new laptop.
It has let me connect and brought me to the server selection screen once, but once I clicked a server it brought me to the same message saying it couldn't connect to the login serer. This happened with several servers. At one point i was able to log in and create a character but once i logged out i have not been able to get in since (with repeated tries for over 2 hours) I am connected to the internet via wireless through the University of Maryland so i'm not using a router. Other games i play work fine and i don't have problems connecting. The antivirus programs i use are Norton Internet Security and the free version of AVG. My windows firewall and my Norton firewall are both lowered so i have no firewalls up at all when i try connecting.

Not a technical guru but if the university is blocking certain things from going through their firewalls the problem may lie there. You may have to contact their IT department to see.
Also you may want to make sure certain ports are open..

Lastly... Haveing multiple Antiviris software running at the same time is not a great thing as far as resources goes...
Welcome to the community by the way. -

You can buy the Jetpack Booster for 4.99 and have a travel power available at level 1. The pack will expire after 30 days, plenty of time to have earned the permanent travel powers on a number of lowbie alts. Why aren't you whining about how unbalancing that is? Is it because it is available to you while the 60 month reward is not?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, Im suggesting a different delivery than what was announced. the intent of the reward remains in the core of my proposal; an early travel power. However the only difference im putting forward is to not allow vets to ignore a power pick.
Who needs to buy a jet pack with real money these days anyway? thats ridiculous.

City Traveler Badge: Hit the ground runningÂ… this badge unlocks access to the following Power Pools at level 6, so players can access Tier 1, 2, and 3 powers early on by choosing the lower requisite powers and travel power at one time.

There you go.... so now we still have to pick the first two powers before we can choose our travel power. We just do it at level 6... Argument over...
