Quote:Yes at the time they were deemed exploitative though I admit since times have changed most of them could do with being removed from being a timed mission and simply back to normal missions. The Dreck mission was exploitative? Wolves were exploitative? Katie Hannon was....well ok, that one was exploited, but I believe the "fail the Mary mission" loophole was closed before merits were introduced, wasn't it?
The wolves change actually predates another change made to them, the mission was made timed before the wolves were given a ranged attack, which meant any hovering blaster could clear the map out with zero threat.
The Dreck mission I'm assuming was back when rather than just tweaking the XP gain on mobs as they do now, they decided just slapping a timer on it was a more viable solution, remember Freakshow got their XP nerfed pretty recently for the same reason the mission got a timer put on it. -
aye you got -res covered in spades with a Sonic/Rad, piling more on would be somewhat redundant, you've also got -regen in a hefty chunk as well so that rules that one out, so either of the other two are good picks.
Lore it comes down to what you want out of the pets.
Warworks do really good damage but have meh buffing abilities, Seers have meh damage but really good buffing abilities, the other two are inbetween apparently.
Destiny...well that's the only one I'm still pondering. -
actually the Devs never looked down on farming, they looked down on Exploitative farming, as in earning rewards much, much faster than you should be, which was the problem with the AE, a PI Demon farm couldn't get you 1-50 in about six hours but a Rikti Comm officer farm could.

I will point out the buffs do only last for a short while at max strength, say 10 seconds, then they drop dramatically each ten second time slot after that (from 30% Res/Def to 15%, then to 10% then to 5%).
That doesn't replace a Force fielder with their 2 minute long huge def buffs or a Fire buffer who their large +res bonus on the same long timer.
The Destiny slots are more like MoG than actual buffs, their defensive build up style powers. -
On union we now have two new catchphases with regards the raids.
1) The rule of one:
There will always be 1 person AFK when the trial starts.
2) Boobs.
Many jokes are made thanks to the annoyingly long cutscene at the start of the BAF (Exposition, Exposition, rush it out, ASAP) that the only good thing about it is Mother Mayhems cleavagetastic outfit. -
Yup the final phase most Union teams will play it like this.
Team 1: Seige.
Team 2: Nightstar.
Team 3: Reinforcement spawn point.
The spawn point is the Helipad building (the building by the Helipad obviously) so team 3 just sits there and smashes the reinforcements as they come out the doors, meaning team 1 and 2 are free to just concentrate on Seige and Nightstar.
Also there is a choke point for the Prisoner escapes, namely either side of the tennis court, if you position damage dealers on either side you can cut down quite a few of the prisoner escapes.
Not on my Watch is the only BAF badge I have left to earn now.
((Disclaimer: tactics not developed by me The three team stratergy was developed by Bullet Point)). -
Quote:Hey!Incidentally, at one point there were two simultaneous trial leagues running in Pocket D, plus two ITFs gearing up, plus a Sutter being organized, all at the same time. On Triumph. That would be like finding out Union just spawned Rikti War Zone number twelve.[/I].
As a Unionite I feel mildly offended by that.
However I do know that both the Rikti Warzone AND Pocket D did gain an extra instance. Union is seeing the same hive of activity, two trials running at once, sometimes even three with 2 BAFs and a Lambda, the Sutter TF and an ITF being organised. -
Right starting to see that people have pegged stratergies for the BAF (Lambda really just required getting all the temp power grenades and making sure to use them at the right time) on Union.
The only thing left in the BAF which still gives people some trouble is the Prisoner escape but that just needs some fine tuneing.
So far got 3 of the 4 BAF badges...and it looks like people are leaving the Lambda badges until more people are suited and booted.
Had a successful Lambda run not too long ago and I will say the Lore pets (the uncommon ones, namely 2 x Vicky bots, which I will add do quite high damage to start with and reach into ridiculous levels when fully buffed, along with a Seer boss + buffer) basically made up for having had 3 people missing especially when fully buffed up.
Now back to trying to get some sleep, got my Rare Lore slot and Judgement slot unlocked now, time to work on the Interface. -
Quote:No they give 2 Threads as a reward instead of a component.Wendy, you on the other hand absolutely have gotten my point and did a fine job there in the middle articulating my myriad technical concerns.
The only thing new to me is your mention that Apex and Tin Mage tf's drop threads? They do? At a comparable rate to the trials? Do baddies there still drop shards as well? (I did get one odd shard drop during a Lambda the other night. I was like "threa--awwwww." )
Yes...a whole 2 Threads.
Literally they just took out the name Shard and replaced it with Thread on the excel data sheet.
Now 2 Shards wasn't bad, it was half way to a common component all on it's own...but 2 threads is just pitiful, it's one tenth of a common component.
So yeah, they're not a viable alternative. -
yes but the new TFs aren't Incarnate content, they're regular content.
So you can have the Incarnate Praetoria War content with just a single team or even solo, now it doesn't have to skimp on the challenge, infact it shouldn't.
Edit: Unless you meant the new trials, of which only the Lambda is minimum 8 people and that's not going to happen unless the team is really, really good or people have got both of their Incarnate level shifts. -
Yes but war also makes use of much smaller commando units to strike at targets as well as larger companies of men. There is plenty of room for normal team sized content and still keeping the 'war' theme.
-
Yeah the Lambda rewards seem kind of out of whack when compared to the BAF. Heck most teams fight Nightstar and Seige seperate and don't bother turning off the gun towers anyway, which is two additional merits meaning a successful run will normally net you 5 of them, if not you're atleast going to get 3 even if you don't do the challenges.
Compared to Lambda where I think I've only been on 1 team out of 4 that managed to get every single grenade and we damn well used them all that hard work netted us 3, so we have to work harder to get the same level of reward in Lambda.
I kind of understand why it's not like the BAF, if they rewards 1 merit for defeating the Security team, 1 for the grenade section no matter how it turned out and 1 for defeating Marauder then you can bet your sweet behind that people would clear as fast as possible, head straight inside, defeat security team, loaf about for 4 minutes then quit the trial, reform.
This would net them 2 merits in about 6 minutes for very little effort.
Still perhaps give 1 for the Security team and 2 for defeating Marauder, hell the BAF offers one very easy merit in defeating Nightstar, so make it atleast comparable. -
Noticed something interesting.
Well interesting to me anyway.
Even the Lore Pets are customisable, as in you can colour both their aura AND certain parts of their armour.
Perhaps this is the reason for the lack of other pets, the Praetorian pets, using items mostly available to players, can be customised, other pets would have to be tailored to accept such customisation.
Though perhaps we are seeing the first step towards MM customisation in this, who knows. -
The thing I seem to be seeing a lot of recently.
Mother Mayhems boobaliscious outfit. -
Yup..day 2 of release and I've already got a Rare Judgement Ion unlocked, if I'd have been lucky and gotten 1 very rare and 2 rare reward salvage tables, I'd be on the very rare Judgement slot by now.
-
The Lambda trial offers significantly more XP than the BAF.
The BAF a successful completion nets you around 20%ish on the Judgement and around 15% on the Lore.
Lambda trial offers roughly 30% per completion on Interface and 20% on Destiny.
So yes, 10 failed BAFs if you fail at stage 3 (you get around 10% towards the next slot at that point) is actually a legitimate number to unlock the Judgement slot. -
We have that In the Beast run.
They do look remarkably similar -
-
well seemed I jinxed myself, my failure rate has skyrocketed now.
Mainly because people either chase Resistance or don't check the map to actually see where is least defended. -
Tell you what's more annoying.
The god damn starting cutscene to the BAF.
+1 for boobs otherwise it's so damn long... -
The bonus of the EU servers is...well we're a close knit family and you're going to see the same people in all of the runs, so there is bound to be someone who knows what to do.
So while they are PuGs, as in whoever turns up, it's being led by a guy who has got leading them down to a fine art and atleast 60% of people per trial know what to do. -
The thing is though, I know full well I'm not the kind of player that's lucky enough to ever get a Rare or Very Rare result so I've got to get another 50 Threads to convert 4 uncommons into a Rare, now I know full well I'm not going to get a Rare table reward during those runs where I'm collecting threads, as I said, I'm just not that kind of person that has that luck.
I wouldn't mind the grind so much if it was purely down to luck as to how fast you'd done it.
Heck if I was stupidly lucky and managed to get 1 very rare and 2 rares, I'd probably have my Very Rare Judgement by now, infact I'm will to bet there are people out there already with it purely based on luck.
Hell I prefer the WST method to this. -
See while I don't think these are hard but then I came from a WoW raiding background where dancing about and coordination were pretty much required.
If you want to look at something, I suggest going to check out TotalHalibut's channel on Youtube, he regularly has videos which are labelled 'wipe-a-thon 3000' where it is him and his guild mates going at a boss over and over and over purely to learn the mechanics of the fight, what to do when and where to stand.
The BAF and Lambada are tough but they simply require communication and Coordination. my personal record is now 2 complete Lambada runs with no failures, 3 failed BAF runs and 8 successful ones.
The latest failure we located a weakpoint in our strategy and fixed it, leading to a smooth complete the next time around.
However speaking of this they are being run by mostly one person (Damz, I cannot praise him enough) and everybody shuts up and listens to him when he gives orders (not that he barks them, it's more 'ok, slow down on seige now' kind of deal). -
Quote:Yup, you can leap from one instance to another in that MMO, you can even leap from 'dungeon taskforce' to another as well. You can be yanked out of one Battleground when the other Battleground you signed up for starts, I know this much. That's out of one instance and into another, not "when it's finished" or "you have to leave first."
So it works even while instanced. -
Right explain to me why there was a design decision that meant you can't run missions while being queued in the LFG tool?
So basically it's either, sit on my hands for about 10 minutes plus (on the EU servers here) pr solo while I wait for a BAF announcement in one of the global channels.
Doesn't that seem kind of stupid to anyone else. That other MMO, the big gorilla of the MMO world, has an LFG tool that's fire and forget, you turn it on, go do quests etc and it pops up after a time saying that there is now a space.
Why doesn't our LFG tool work like that?
