  1. Word just got out that Syfy is not renewing Stargate Universe for a third season. Press release will be released soon. My faith in Syfy is now completely gone aside from eureka and Warehouse 13. Friday has been their night of hit shows for a long time and they decided to replace it with 2 hours of wrestling. They argued that the move should help the shows seeing how well Eureka and Warehouse 13 have done on Tuesdays during the summer. Ratings were low for SGU on tuesday yet they were about the same as last season in Canada where the program was aired during it's original time showing that the audience was still there but they just didn't make the move. With no plans for a film to finish the show, it is unlikely that we will ever see the planned outcome to the show.

    From the Syfy twitter:
    Quote:
Announcement today: Syfy will end its original action-adventure series Stargate Universe when the show returns with the final 10 episodes of its second season in the Spring of 2011. The Stargate franchise -- consisting of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe -- has aired on Syfy since 2002. Syfy has a slate of new scripted projects lined up for 2011 including the series premiere of Being Human on January 17, the recently green lit one-hour drama series Alphas and the much anticipated Battlestar prequel pilot movie, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome. Warehouse 13, Eureka & Haven will also return w/new seasons next year
By the way, Syfy's professionalism shows as apparently they didn't tell the cast or crew about the cancellation. They all had to find out via twitter with everyone else.

Edit: At least some of the crew was notified via email shortly before the announcement on twitter.

Magic Kingdom is indeed the movie about the Disney park coming to life at night. It is basically going to be Disney's Night at the Museum.

And the reason I didn't care for Sahara that much was because it differed a bit too much from the book. If you liked the movie, you should definitely check out the Dirk Pitt series by Clive Cussler. There are a total of 21 books in the series as of last month but the earlier ones have proven to be better than the more recent ones.
  4. The one thing that has just bugged me on all the versions I have seen of the trailer is the compression. With footage it can be ignored but when they do those titles with the lens flairs, the quality just iritates me.
  5. On a bit of a side note, MGM got approval for it's restructuring plan and they expect to exit bankruptcy in a few weeks which is a good step in the right direction for the planned Stargate movies.

Ark of Truth indicated that the gates came completely after the split evident by Amelius' notebook that he grabs as he is walking out. It is open to a sketch of a Stargate and he mentions that a new idea as he walks out.

I don't ever recall seeing the Ori use gates outside of the supergate now that I think about it.

I'm almost certain Destiny was launched after the split with the Ori. The Ori had no knowledge of the Milky Way when SG1 encountered them and the Destiny was launched from Earth.

    http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Destiny

Destiny is a ship in the Ancient fleet, constructed and launched around sixty million years ago from Earth.
I don't know why that never occured to me but it does seem odd that they would send out seed ships to fill galaxies with stargates but only send out one Destiny class ship. Maybe that will be a story for them to use in the future as if the ship they are on was either the first or the last in the group to be completed and sent off.

You are right about Destiny being launched after the split. The origin was Earth after all as was indicated by the use of the Earth gate symbol in the address.
  8. That was a jerk move indeed. Telford telling about his time with the aliens reminded me of this outtake from a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thLf2VaWDzg
  9. Tonight marks the last episode of SGU for a while as they go on the mid-season break. We know where Destiny is going now that the bridge is no longer a secret. It also means that they can control the ship. That ability apparently comes into play tonight. It was also recently revealed that the series is set up for a 5 season plan but could be wrapped in a single season if needed. Of course if the series does fail before that, there are no plans to wrap it up in a film.

Probably not in that case but with these writers you never know.
  11. One thing BBC America has been starting to do is air the full length programs when they premiere so UKTG has been showing more episodes that take up 1 hour and 20 minutes.

In terms of the American Top Gear, a rocky start indeed. I will still give it some time but I much prefer the original.

Probably not, but I thought it would be an interesting twist. An afterlife would also support the religion side of things and how there will always be some points of knowledge outside of our reach.
Young said it was just a simulation put together by the ship.

Also, didn't Greer point out that none of them had the knowledge that would help them survive so they should have been dead?
  14. Next week we see a bit of what happens when the crew decides to take Destiny off it's intended course as they land in the remains of a space battle. I will leave it at that despite knowing more that is supposed to happen.

Interesting idea to bring that group back just to have them die a second time from the same thing that killed them the first time. I don't recall actually seeing Caine die, just him saying he remembers dying while the Kino feed shows the light through the windows of the shuttle when he was still alive.
  15. So we have the return of some lost cargo from last season. I haven't seen the episode yet but I have a feeling some may not care for the plot idea.
  16. Just a quick heads up, it has now reached the 30 day point so episode 4 can be found on Hulu if anyone needs/wants to catch up.
  17. From what I have heard, outside in the rest of the interwebs there are people that specifically are trying to make this show fail with the reason being that SGA was canceled when the show was reaching a high point and the movie has been put on hold.
  18. Well they are bringing in a couple members of SGA midway through the second half of the season. McKay and Woolsey will be appear in what is supposed to be their own small side story in the Milkey Way that goes along side SGU. They probably would have brought them in sooner but they needed to be clear that the movie was still on hold and that there was a way to work around it so that their appearance on SGU happens between the finale and SGA movie.

Face it your just getting a kick out arguing with someone.
Well that is actually straying off from what was originally being argued about. You have been talking about the writing and it appears that you are putting the blame on Syfy which is what Scythus is arguing against.

It definitely is Syfy's fault for the low ratings on the new night, no doubt about that. More research should be done instead of just saying "Our highest viewed shows have all taken place on Tuesday nights so moving our hit shows to there would greatly help them out." It is like they didn't even consider what shows they would be going up against on a new night.

I noticed that the threads weren't being used for much so I have only been making them ever so often. I plan to make one for next week because I know there might be some upset with what is going to happen. Maybe for the second half of season two I will set up a thread that will just carry over episode to episode instead of a new one each week since we never seem to go above 3 pages.

    Cars 2 Trailer

That is indeed the voice of Michael Caine.

While I would agree that Cars doesn't reach the level that other Pixar films have, it has grown on me over time. Visually it is an absolutely stunning film.
  23. The effects we are seeing are probably near complete but still recieving some polish.

    TRON keyboard

Hmm, I might look at getting that once I get a new desktop. I kind of want the Xbox 360 Tron controller too.
