What do ppl use to record pvp? Do you need alot of system resources to run high fps ?
-
Ah cool then
didn't manage to fit in Aid is the only thing :S Went with fitness,Speed,Leaping, fighting and ofcourse Mace, 40% to Melee but can easily pop Elude and if I can't floor whoever in 3 mins then it's Nade and leap to safety.
Not going to pretend to understand difference between Defense, Elusivity, Accuracy, to-hit, etc etc... xD
hurts my head. -
SuperStrength / SR ... managed to get 75.4% Def to Ranged before Elude and before DR also took mace mastery for webnade, was thinking would be quite a pesky toon, Widow defenses with brute hp.
-
So is it plausable to use defense in zonal ? Or should I just slot my new brute for pve (yuch) ?
-
Does anyone have a table of %'s that shows how diminishing returns effects figures..
For example how much def to you need to be softcapped in pvp? -
No tough meaning low S/L res.
No travel power
No recharge in Build Up
fairly low hp for a Wp tank, remember Regen is % of total, more total = more regen -
Quote:Couple of other things you may or may not be aware of in one or two of your questions...so after reading several threads regarding noob questions and after making a complete fool of myself on the Player Questions board (suggesting suggesting a build that would make experienced players say zomglulzNUB!) i'm kind of caught in between what i should be doing for end game pvp (my ultimate goal) and what i want to do (make toons that i personally think work great for pvp in OTHER games; ice for immobilizers being my latest derp).
i would prefer a caster class, but i'm not ruling out anything at this point. i just need advice. so here goes....
1) what spec would you suggest for an experienced pvp'er but noob coh player and why? advantages/disadvantages, leveling speed, over-crowded toon population (like frost mages in wow. UGH!), etc...
2) i work midnight shift so my playing hours are going to be a bit wacky. i'm reading almost exclusively that freedom is hands down the best for pvp 24/7. so freedom, yeah?
3) would it be wise to level my toons on a different server first then pay to transfer or should i start them out on freedom? i'm not a big fan of higher levels ganking me in starter zones. lame-o.
4) what kind of environment can i expect from pvp? meaning are there a lot of duels, group action, ...what? is either side (villain or hero) decidedly better in terms of players? are there a lot of baddies going around screaming about how OP they are? stuff like that.
5) what levels can i start pvp'ing/start becoming relevant?
thanks for reading if you made it this far. hopefully you'll get a chance to /wrist me on the battle field sometime soon.
2) If you have funny working hours you may actually be better to play peak time on an EU server. (just a suggestion)
3) City of Hero's is not like WoW, villains are not able to attack you as you level up unless you are in a specific PvP zone. Players can go from 1-50 without even seeing an enemy player.
4) There are few types of pvp, arena matches are set up and pretty much act like a duelling system. You can enter one from anywhere by typing /arenalist or there are Zones where it's a Red Vs Blue kill what you want and do your best to stay alive. -
Is this any good for Zonal... ?
went for +hp, +dmg and +rech

Change the primary on your brute to SuperStregnth and change your sneak up on people approach to webnade them so they can't escape instead.
SS/FA/Mace very nasty in pvp -
Quote:Yea I'm sure they do, both have long animation times now... but they are also a massive flag saying asssassin strike me!In pvp Im pretty sure both ET and TF do more damage than they used to.
Although you mention ET, Only tanks get that blue side I think that Duke was referring to blaster 2ndary.
I have TF on mine, but remember to hit it while in mid jump and glace opponents, standing still and activating it will mean certain death if there are any half good stalkers about. -
Ok building a Traps/Sonic in mids, seems tight to get everything in, there are loadsa powers I want :P I might even skip epic set and stamina all together...
Anyone think there is something from epic power pool that I shouldn't be missing? -
Quote:Oooh that sounds nice... What epic would a traps/Sonic benefit from?I think Traps would be a great choice. You get a mixed set of buffs and debuffs, and Traps gets all its best powers early. Not all that difficult to softcap your own defense to everything either. With Hasten and some global recharge, you can double stack Acid Mortars for amazing -resistance. If you want to get really silly, combine Traps with Sonic for some really over-the-top resistance debuffs.
Maybe mind to TK Av's onto mines? -
-
I have loadsa toons, and alot of these are pvp characters but I would like a level 50 Taskforcing toon, something that will make players happy to have on the team so I was wondering what AT and sets would you like to team with?
What makes your day to see join your MoSTF, Itf, Lgtf, Kahn, etc etc..
(I tend to lean towards defenders/controllers btw...) -
Quote:I have an Ice devices with Disruptor badge, was my favourite toon back in the day of pvp before it was "balanced"... pain in the rear, don't get me started on it.I heard somewhere that Ice Devices is the "antistalker". Is it really? I also heard ice dev is bad, hw is ice dev for pvp
Anyhow, the reason that Devices were condsidered good to combat stalkers was because of Caltrops, and Perception in the form of targetting drone.
Now.. a few things have changed. Damage is now worked out by activation time, and what was once a great fast firing set has now taken a beating damage wise because of it's activation times.
And then stalkers got +Stealth IO's meaning that with Hide, Stealth and the IO they hit the stealth cap which is higher than a devices blaster with Drone, Tactics, and Perception
IO.
As for Caltrops that still works combatting assassin strike, however there are ways around this too.. Teleport, Phase, etc meaning that any fairly good stalker will still get their strike in.
Otherwise you will just get Sharked and ranged dmg'd to death now that against a blaster stalkers don't need to use AS.
Oh, and remember using devices roots you, where trip mines and tp foe was once a joy to behold the phase suppression on TP foe means you can no longer do that as effectively as before....
All in all, pvp 2.0 really screwed my fav toon.
Anyway, best thing to do now is take Psi/Em, Fire/Em, Rad/Em, Sonic/Em...
Build for Hp and recharge, do the accolades to cap yourself at 1600 and take ice mastery for SnowStorm, Frozen Armour, Hoarfrost and Hibernate and make sure you have 41pts of KB prot.
If a stalker hits you, Hoarfrost and then make them sorry they made themselves visible..
Oh and get a temp phase power from WW or Warburg cause any stalker worth their salt will have phase. -

Quote:Ok well I didn't know what he meant either so I was asking when I said..I know what the expression means. I wrote I didn't know what he meant. I explained my posts.
However since your post is insulting I think we have found your glass house situation.
Quote:I'd love to hear the train of thought that went before that post...
So if you didn't know what he meant why on earth are you elaborating on the 2 posts I made he was referring to !
So i will say this once again.... if you think you can explain better SwellGuy feel free. -
Quote:He was referring to the saying "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones"I'm not sure what glass house Fulmen's was referring to.
I was surprised someone who posted what you posted in this thread consisting of those 2 meaningless little tidbits would expect someone else to elaborate in their posts.
Apparently you have some arbitrary personal rules about posts and to consider a glass house comment insulting or abusive. Why?
[edit add] I believe more people would consider your use of "stupid" to fall under insulting though.
It means that ... something that you say which means people should not criticize other people for faults that they have themselves
I was asking him to elaborate on what fault he thinks I have relating to this topic.
p.s. - I said - "Still think it's stupid" which is completely different from "your stupid"
anything else I can explain for you? -
Actually yes, because those comments are me expressing an opinion they are not abusive or insulting...
Hence....... I would like to know how you justify
Quote:Donna: Nice house. Is it all glass?
But if you think you can explain better SwellGuy feel free. -
