fire/brt is still a very viable pvp toon, it will teach you the basics of pvp and still be useful once u get to the top of the totem pole into higher end pvp
but it's hard to top the mini-spikes psi blast has...
If you make the fire/energy think hard about getting the chance to hold procs and putting them in all fire attacks. This is not optimal for 8v8s because they have a chance to disrupt the mez before the spike.
