  1. Pulled him to the side corridor. Ignored the TEST enemies. Everyone grabbed and used BFs in batches of four to resist the confusion for decent lengths of time in order to get some damage in. He's very weak without his tricksy tactics.

The first time I did it, the Trial broke. The timer counted down to zero then reversed and starting counting back up, negating the time pressure.

This led to the discovery that if you leave Desdemona to fight the final AV for a sufficiently long time, she will kill him without any help needed from the actual players

I thought the trial was fun until we reached the endless spiralling GIger alien caves. My computer can't handle the very large maps, when I pan the camera around it feels like I'm moving the physical level around my stationery character, almost like those huge corridors have weight and inertia to them.

I'm still getting the "out of memory" bug that made me play less and less in recent months

Gotta remember when you're the boss your name becomes a synonym for the entire organisation. When people say "boo, Posi!" they mean "boo, Paragon!".

Except the ones saying "boo, urns!"

Other concepts I'd like to see:

    Zeus Titan's arm
    Freakshow tank leg
A version of the rusty blade with "FREEM" grafitti written down the side
A version of the rusty blade with "NERF" written down the side

No but it will help with the slowness. Be careful though, since ID will only make the density worse.
  5. For self-flagellation, there is Keyes.

For iXP, threads and having fun posing in front of Marauder during his cut scene, there is Lambda.

For cleavage, merits, brevity, ease, fun, and eveything else, there's BAF.

  6. Most people know this, but just in case - watch out for the power customisation options when changing costume at the tailor, it can get extremely expensive if you alter powers.

As someone with huge numbers of free tokens on each character, I never noticed until I recently tried to make a change on a newer character
  7. This powerset is being hyped as unbeatable, but on day 1 of launch it will collide with an Ice Tank and be destroyed.

  8. No one's considered that Anti Matter might have been the one who DCed. Kinda hard to continue with the main enemy off checking his Facebook page.

  9. What about firefighting? How many people could be saved from burning buildings without the need for ladders, if you could just float a 20 foot platform up to them for stepping out on to

If the device is so simple, roofs of large buildings could come with one of these installed, so fire wardens in the workplace could use them to rescue co-workers.

Far more important however, is the fact that we can now play platform games in the real world
  10. Awesome, sounds like it was a tough job.

How many MMs were in the league? tee hee

It seems to cater to some of the worse habits in the game for standardized MMO strategy with no adaption needed.

Worse yet, the disintegration ray was invisible amongst auras, shields, and destiny buffs. I had to be told directly by the target they were being disintegrated, even then I could only tell by their rapidly emptying health.

Suggestions: have an unmistakably brilliant aura that makes the disintegration target visible. Have pressure release valves that redirect the reactor pulses skyward, if they are clicked just before the pulse. This is interruptable, and guarded. This makes avoiding the disintegration death/heal more manageable, and gives different options than "HEAL EVERYONE!"
An oversized, bright glowing green version of Golden Rings or Soul Storm might do the trick.
  12. I really, truly believe that there is a Dev who thinks that a "solo player" is defined as a "player who likes to exclusively play as one character, instead of using alts".

That is the only possible explanation as to why the vouchers were heralded as a "boon for solo players".

Whichever Dev thinks that "solo" means "one alt" instead of "I play ALONE" needs to be found and corrected before he/she does something else crazy, like adding "ripped physique" textures to all character models because we want more "buffs", or giving all players a "coins" pathing aura because we all want "more costume change" or designing a new incarnate trial which is an actual *trial* where your character gets charged with treason and must answer cross-examination from Statesman properly to avoid being jailed for 5 years.

This person must be stopped before they do something like fill the Lambda trial WITH ACTUAL LAMBS!!!!

All you need to do to make Incarnate content solo-friendly is add an incarnate salvage reward table to the already-existing Ouroboros mini-TFs. 1% VR chance, 4% rare chance, 15% uncommon chance, 80% common chance, rewarded ONLY if you complete the TFs on your own. If you do it in a team everyone just gets 10 threads.

I've personally soloed a LOT of the content that was "designed only for teams!"

The Lambda trial has already been duoed.

The completely ARBITRARY minimum number of players to start a trial has absolutely nothing to do with how "epic" and encounter turns out to be.

Being forced to wait around X amount of time for a trial to start isn't epic.
Being forced to listen to the inane ramblings of other players isn't epic.
Waltzing through a trial without any effort isn't epic.

    This is epic:

    And that's soloing.
That's not Firelord. That's a Thundercat with his head on fire.

If there was a solo, or even a one team path to Astrals and Empyreans, I would take it. Statesmen help me, if they let us buy these things in the future with real monies, I'll do it.
If Astrals and Emps could be bought I would immediately purchase everything I needed to trick out all my remaining non-incarnate alts with T3 slots, then never touch the iTrials again.

I still do TFs and SFs a lot, plus Hami/Mothership raids, even though almost all my characters are way past the point where any of the rewards are useful. I also play AE, Ouroboros, AV story arcs and level up new alts.

But somehow I don't think I'd do iTrials again if I didn't have to. In the same way that I don't do the Sewer Trial or repeat Master runs attempts in the LRSF, BSF, KTF or STF.

Some people play the game as escapism to get away from the perceived stupidity of the people around them in daily life. The interdependence of the iTrials throw that stupidity back into *sharp* focus.

    Success [KIR]

After being frustrated with a failed run plus lack of interest on my home server, I paid Virtue a visit and had great fun leading a PuG league to success last night

Just wanna say Virtue is a kewl place and the players were very awesome at getting through the trial even though no one on my league had done it before.
  16. Before I20 I only very occasionally got the sound loop crash. Sometimes I'd also get a loading screen crash. Neither of these were much trouble.

Since Issue 20, I've been getting new types of crashes. Others have mentioned them on the forums.

The first is the "out of memory crash" where a pigg file can't be assigned a place in memory. I get this in about 1 in 5 Lambda runs. Never in BAF. Very rarely anywhere else. The game freezes, I get sent to desktop and there is no error window for submitting a report.

The second is the deadly "FATAL ERROR" crash. I'm in a trial, suddenly everything freezes. I get dumped to desktop (with CoH still running in the background) and all I have is a black empty prompt window with "fatal error" as the title. The only way to recover is to go into task manager and end the CoH process, then restart the launcher. It takes a while for the game to reload.

These two errors have cost me roughly 10 salvage drops, since the first one tends to happen right near the end of a trial (when you are chasing Marauder around the four corners of Lambda). Last night, the second error happened right at the very end of my first ever Keyes attempt, which ruined my whole evening since the run was otherwise perfect and Anti-Matter was almost dead.

I then completed Keyes by moving my main to Virtue and putting together my own PuG league and leading it to a victory at 3am :P

This is the only viable tactic for PuGs and newbies to the trial. Just forget all the wacky stuff going on with the huge green AoE, disintegration, red/blue orbs and terminals healing him - all you have to do is KILL HIM WITH FIRE.

It has worked on my successful runs. The downside is it puts smaller leagues at a disadvantage since they just don't have the total DPS to pull it off.

24 muppets with no clue what's going on can still pummel AM into submission, regardless of his silly games

Sadly, this still leaves the problem that after one or two runs, most players just cannot be bothered with Keyes when they can run a BAF or Lambda instead.

If I was in charge I'd remove the blue/red entanglement and add 5 minutes to the timer in the last phase. A lot of new leagues were juuuuust barely failing becuase the timer ran out, then everyone swore to never do the thing again. To go through all the effort of the three reactors, then lose at the end due to the time limit is too much for some people.
  18. The biggest problem with the idea of zero deaths during the final phase is that AM can freeze time just before or even while the Obliteration Beam is firing. The same seems to be true for disintegration. There's no defence against this.

I think I'll get the bunker buster badge and call it a day, then make a start on MoLambda. The thought of expecting a league to risk failure by knocking AM down to 10% early or not damaging the terminals just so I can get a badge seems daft.

And dodging the Obliteration Beam? Sure, if it was on an INDIVIDUAL basis that would actually be fun. As a league-wide badge? Yeah, riiiiight...that's like awarding the entire player population a badge on the condition that no one in the whole game travels to Ouroboros for 24 hours.

I still don't see the point of these kind of badges. They don't even give you bragging rights. If you earn them all you can say is "I managed to do something really difficult and was extremely lucky that everyone else in the league also managed to do it at the same time". That's like getting an extra gold medal in the 100m sprint ONLY if you win the race in under 10 seconds AND everyone else running against you also finishes in under 10 seconds.

Why aren't there nice badges for defeating 1,000 warworks, breaking 100 caches, defeating Siege 50 times, collecting 500 threads, standing in front of Marauder during his cut scene, collecting 20 acids and grenades in a single Lambda, etc? I like those kind of badges
  19. For all the arguing back and forth about whether it is too hard, the fact is that it IS tedious and far too much hassle. Players will run it once or twice then never again.

I hope the Devs keep track of the attention it gets because at some point they WILL be forced to remove at least 1 or possibly 2 of the "special" things that happens during the final fight.

It's like someone brainstormed possible game mechanics for the AV fight but at the last second just said" heck, let's do ALL those things at the same time!" O.o

  21. Hey I remember you!

I can't remember if you were friend or FOE, so welcome back anyhows.
  22. I've been harking on about this on my server, but thought I'd mention it somewhere that might give the Devs a laugh.

In the Lambda incarnate trial, the huge turrets around the walls play the theme tune to the Transformers 3 movie trailer

    DUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUNDUN

    That was all
  23. Am I the only one who saw the point of this as teasing us with the meteor shower news, rather than anything to do with the Galaxy City litter?

We already know the Shivans are supposed to be the vanguard of the coming storm and another shower would signify the storm is upon us.

The Coming Storm! It's a Storm. And it's coming!

On a side note, this torn newspaper is obviously what was on the other side of the magical whiteboard.
  24. I find on a full team if one melee person splits up and does their own thing, the killing speed will be roughly the same as if everyone had stuck together.

If more than one breaks away or the team is less than 8, splitting up slows down progress quite a bit.

My evidence for this, if I could submit it for review, would be the large number of Cap/Sky Raider SFs I've done over the past few years. During the kill-all missions, if I run straight to the back of the top floor and fight backwards while the rest progress normally, I'll have finished the top floor just in time for the team's arrival. If I stay with them, we'll finish the other floors faster, but then when we get to the final floor it will still be full and the time it takes to clear will be about equal to the difference I made while travelling with them.

I also think you need to factor in how many buffers/debuffers are on the team. If everyone is (say) a Claws Scrapper, I think splitting up is much more efficient, since multiple AoE melee moves in a smal space are redundant, compared to everyone spreading out.
  25. Is Mephisto Fire/Dark ?

In defence of the OP, sometimes when I start to play one of my Corrs after a long break of using other ATs, I also feel underpowered. Something like:

"Oh, I've been held. How did that happen? Where's my shields? Wait...no pets? Oww that hurt a lot more than I expected! Why am I dead already there was only 3 of em..?"

Course this is balanced out by the fact that Sonic Attack- Shout is the absolute best power in the game to hit an enemy with if you're very annoyed and want to vent constructively wwwwwwwhhhhheeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEBOOMMmewmewmewmewmewmew

Yeah that was me doing the sound effect. Train colliding with robot kitten factory ftw
