Statesman seems to think that there is no satisfaction in crafting where you just put some items together into a menu and hit build. But the fact is that this kind of thing has been in games for years and years and yet they are still requested by players.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lack of crafting is one of the things that drew me to CoH. Why on earth demand same-old same-old? Same-old same-old already exists. I'm reminded of people who go to the first North African restaurant in a town and demand a cheeseburger and fries or go to the first sushi bar in a county and demand fried fish sticks.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
Hmmm. Since our incarnates will not be as strong as States and LR could this be the explaination?

    [/ QUOTE ]

A fundamental law of all RPG design is that player characters are NEVER to be allowed to be nearly as nice as the Mary Sue characters. Statesman is a Mary Sue.

Lord Recluse: Science Invulnerabililty/Super Strength Brute/Incarnate

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, but Recluse is a former Mastermind, not a former Brute. This is official.
  4. [ QUOTE ]

It's ridiculous. If I want to fight a hero in Pvp I'll do that. If he gets to drop toggles, then let me drop toggles when I fight him.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're wasting your time. Reason, fairness, and other silly things like that are foreign concepts to developers. Remember, such foes are the equivalents their characters, and they're not going to gimp their characters vs. the Enemy (players).
  5. [ QUOTE ]

I must ask, what made you think anyone would find this enjoyable?

    [/ QUOTE ]

As the Great Leader has let us know before, "fun" consists of repeated failure after repeated failure. All hail the juche of failure = fun!

    [ QUOTE ]
I will NOT be FORCED to team in a game that is supposedly still solo friendly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Has it not occurred to you that developerspeak has nothing at all to do with what a reasonable person would consider to be "truthful". "No forced teaming" means two entirely different things in the speech of rational people and in developerspeak.

Stalkers are at a 100% value, while Blasters and Scrappers are at a 125% value. From your perspective, that really doesn't change things, but I wanted to be clear on what is going on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is this for real? I have to go test this out. That's a pretty big change, and I knew nothing about it.

Edit: It's a big change to Scrappers and Blasters. Their Build Up used to be +100% damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

By value, I meant the number the AT multiplies the base power by. Build Up has a base of 80% damage increase.

    100% value = 80% base damage increase. 125% = 100% base damage increase.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know you work for Cryptic but what does everything have to be so "Cryptic?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Cryptic? It's veritably Hubbardesque!
  7. [ QUOTE ]

Praetoerians are on my schedule...just not for a little while.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to see the "low level" villains fleshed out first. Everybody encounters Hellions, Skulls, and Trolls.

  8. Remember, all games must be designed around the tactical and play abilities of the highest-skilled and most experienced players. Screw the ordinary schmuck.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Balance is one thing, but trying to ensure the Harry the Chimp over there who picks powers and enhancements at random is just as effective as EvilGeko who takes the time and effort to think about and plan his build is not only irrational but idiotic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You've never been in any kind of entertainment mass marketing, have you? Harrys the Chimp have a far greater amount of income they're willing to spend on entertainment than all the Evil Geckos.

I think Mr. Ricardo and Herr Mises might wish to have a little word with you...
  11. [ QUOTE ]
Why is WoW or Lineage doing so much better?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's pretty easy to answer. It's the same reasion why tediously formulaic TV shows do very well. The majority of an audience for a given medium prefers rewarmed leftovers with just enough new sauce to pretend it's not quite the same dish you had last night.

Of course, I can get away with saying this, as my bread and buttter isn't bought by appealing to the particular audience in question.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
As one of the chief complainers about this recently, THANK YOU! That sounds like a *much* better set up, and less likely to annoy the non-PvP inclined.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or at least the ones who aren't prone to demanding pie.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
So, does this mean you're doing the same thing to the Hollows and Striga? Being forced to go there is just as not fun as being forced into any other zone you have no interest in going to. If we now have a real choice about entering Warburg can we please have the same consideration for the Hollows and Striga?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ha! You poor naive person! They'll do that fifty years after the last CoH/CoV server is shut down and not one attosecond before!

Dear developers: Please make a liar out of me.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

File a petition or bug report describing this. Maybe PM a dev about it. You've already started a thread.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I PMed Statesman about it two days ago and pointed out how the current setup means that it is remarkably easy to force players to engage in PvP. Looks like there was enough hue and cry to actually fix something. One MUST wonder why on earth they didn't think of this BEFORE it went live, given that it blatantly violates one of what they had claimed was a cherished principle.

It's not as if we didn't tell them about the Stalkers in the Hero Hospital during the Bloody Bay event, afterl all--we did. That should have cued them in. Villains got INTO the Hero Hospital. If that could happen, that meant that any point within Bloody Bay was an obligatory PvP location.

After all, they could figure out to put the Security Chief who gives you stuff in Perez Park OUTSIDE of Perez Park. Would it have blown too many fuses to figure out the same for PvP zones?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I wanted to take a couple minutes to let you know that we aware of this issue. We want people to at least know where the PvP zones are and how to get to them. We don’t want players to feel forced into PvP combat. To address this issue we are going to take several steps. Players will be sent to liaisons that will be outside the PvP zones. They will explain that there is mission content available from a contact within the zone but will not, I repeat will not, force you to that contact. If the player wishes to go in the zone and find the contact they are free to do so. Just like a Task/Strike Force contact, PVP contacts don’t need to be introduced. As soon as a player clicks on them, they will offer mission content.

we're supposed to give out pie .

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yay pie!

    Blueberry-Rhubarb Pie
    Ingredients:
    pastry for a two-crust pie

    [/ QUOTE ]

    etc.

    I love you.

I actually seriously recommend that everyone who is greatly upset with the current conditions prepare this recipe and have said pie. It won't fix anything, but pie is good.

There's already staph strains flowing through hospitals that are totally resistant to every current antibiotic known to man.

    [/ QUOTE ]

MRSA is broad-spectrum resistant, but it is not universally resistant. There are rarely-used antibiotics (often with nasty side effects) that can still take it out.

Non-therapeutic (aka agricultural) use of antibiotics should be outlawed, since it's contributed to the problem greatly.

If you get immuno compromised and contract them, they WILL kill you.

So! Stay healthy, don't go to hospitals less ya have to, and don't pay this kind of thinking too much mind.

It'll literally kill or ruin the people who act like this in the longrun.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  18. [ QUOTE ]

Super Reflexes Auto powers (Agile, Dodge, and Lucky) now add some minor damage resistance. This Damage resistance starts at 0%, but improves as the caster loses HP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gee, can regenerators get defense when their hit points go down, then? Oh, that's right, regenerators are bad and must be punished, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

THREE POWERS OUT OF THE REGENERATION SET CAN ONLY TAKE ONE TYPE OF ENHANCEMENT!!!!!! Explain how to "diversify" that!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, no. There is a single, universal standard of fun, and it is laid out in perfect detail in The Big Book of Vision, or How to Play As Intended. Don't we all have a copy?
  20. [ QUOTE ]

Some of us came back because the game was finally getting close to the vision it was designed under.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Would you be so kind as to tell us all who are not immediately privy to all of Jack's secret thoughts where he has been so kind as to have written and published this alleged "vision"? After all, it's not like he's some kind of demented sadist who refuses to tell people BEFOREHAND what the "vision" is. After all, he's not some monster who prefers that people flounder around without the faintest idea that they're going to be punished for failing to play "as intended" because the "as intended" is never actually published until AFTER punishments are dealt out. No, he's a decent, upstanding individual. And, like any decent, upstanding individual, he would have published this "vision" and laid out plainly how "as intended" works, and he would have had the basic decency and humanity to have put this somewhere that players can access it.

I seem to have misplaced my copy. Can you tell me where I can find this document?

After all, it's not as if the developers are fumble-bumbling around without the faintest clue of what they're doing and merely lying--rationalizing their changes ad hoc with some silly, false tale about a "vision" and "as intended" that actually do not exist. Who would be such a low individual? No, they are decent, admirable people. Thus, they have their "vision" and guidelines for "as intended" laid out plain to prevent unnecessary player distress. Could you please point out where I could get a copy? I seem to have mislaid mine.

I sincerely hope that the Devs read these postings and determine that deciding prestige based on time in SG mode is not the way to go.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, just like they listened to feedback on Instant Healing.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Just so you all know, you CAN be in sg mode, without changing your costume colors at all. Just go into the settings, make sure all the colors are set to your normal costume colors, and then enter sg mode. I think the chest emblem might change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then it's not good enough. ANY change imposed on the costume is unacceptable.
  23. [ QUOTE ]

I'm looking for the SPECIFIC ISSUE that says CoH is based on the DC universe and all the rules that apply there.......

Sorry, but the DC universe != Marvel universe != CoH universe. Apples to oranges to pears.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In other words, you've been caught out and are now weaseling. The superhero genre AS A WHOLE does NOT demand that all supeheroes have a "uniform" when in a "group". Some do, some don't. To impose one or the other violates genre conventions.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

The emblem is the only thing that has to change. And you don't even have to use the SG's colors, if you had colors on that slot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay, fine, point out THE SPECIFIC ISSUES of JLA wherein Batman and Superman change their emblems.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
You CAN (in the settings) make your supergroup mode costume exactly the same as your normal costume. It does allow you to default to the color it already is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And if everyone DOES NOT HAVE the EXACT SAME "chest emblem"?

    [ QUOTE ]
Like I said with my Superman example, his Red S becomes a Red JLA and him and the spanky green Batman with the JLA symbol on his chest go off to fight crime and pay for the Watch Tower

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which SPECIFIC ISSUES of JLA has this occurred in. You've just been caught out in a flat lie and are now trying to weasel around by spreading more lies.
