Why wouldn't you file a normal griefing complaint in game? Include the information of how many other arcs were simultaneously hit.

While I expect nothing from it, filing it doesn't cost anyone anything, either.

I think this is unfortunate, but seems to be the reality.
I believe it to be the reality because those who would otherwise be interested in playing story arcs in the AE can't find them due to the lack of a story arc tag to search for. After all, when AE started a huge number of people were playing story arcs, until the exploit arcs buried the stories.

This is obviously griefing, and the fact that the devs don't bother enforcing rules against griefing in the MA is the problem, not farmers. (that is, if any of those affected have reported it as griefing). The jackhole who did this may be a farmer, but every group has its jackholes.

Of course, with I21, getting MA access for a free account is pretty cheap. While that makes it pretty easy for those of us who can afford it to undo the damage, it also makes it much easier to be attacked if the devs continue their "we don't care about what happens in MA" attitude.

    Excellent Arcs

Thanks for playing it and the kind words

*edit* by the way, you have it listed as being levels 5-14, and it is actually 1-10 (I recently lowered the top end). Only the last mission requires level 5, by which time anyone who starts the arc at level 1 or 2 should be level 5.

  7. Actually, some incarnations of Superman would not be able to survive it. For the original version, "nothing less than a bursting shell can penetrate his skin", and for a time in the late 70's the Earth 2 Superman was downgraded to that level.

I can't see Doctor Fate surviving considering the piddly amounts of energy it takes to get through his defenses. I suppose it depends on whether or not he also has his invulnerable body these days.

I can only think of three others not yet mentioned who would survive:

Chameleon Boy would probably become the Radko Beast of Serutuf XIV and suck the energy of the nuke up through a horn-shaped appendage.

Speaking of Legion members, Brainiac 5's force field seems to be nigh-impenetrable last I saw so he'd probably survive too.

    and, of course, Chuck Norris.

It would quickly segregate the 'evil farms' away from everything else, and make whatever someone wanted to find much easier to, uh, find. But I guess since that would take interface work, we'll never get that. ...heck the whole interface needs a do-over, because I find it hard to find anything I'm actually interested in playing unless I already know what I'm looking for, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a search.
About the only way we'll get that is if we start a few threads compiling lists ourselves, without the caveat of them being the best AE has to offer (and personally, I'm all for any arc that is at least as good as the average dev arc, even if I'd only play it once, as alternatives to the official arcs I've already run too many times). Unfortunately, many people have also stated they're not interested in having to use a "3rd party" list to find an arc.

What I look at for an "optimized" arc is not how close to farm rewards it comes but how close to normal content. It seems to me on low-level characters most of the arcs we run surpass what normal content provides, short of those rare lucky drops. I don't know about high level characters since mine are on Guardian and we haven't done a run there when I could play.
  10. Just hit 3 ******* times in 20 ******* minutes! ******* ridiculous!

Either fix the ******* software or make a device that smacks the person responsible across the face every time someone gets ******* logged out!

  12. This game, to me, is relaxation, so I do not want to deal with fast reaction time. As SlickRiptide said, if I want a game with reaction time I'll play a shooter. Those don't relax me, and I while they are fun when I'm in the mood, I can't play multi-hour marathon sessions like I can here.

So, to me, CoH's current reaction time is almost perfect.
  13. Ha! You're really old now! I'm only turning 30 today...for the 19th time.

I don't even bother to use the ratings system anymore, myself. At this point, if I enjoyed an arc, even if its something I would only want to play once it gets 5 stars. If I don't like it I don't rate it at all. Until they fix the ratings system, I look at giving an arc stars to not be giving it a rating but rather saying "good arc, here's some tickets for giving me some entertainment."
  15. I ended up with 2241 tickets from Mercytown, giving me almost 55 tickets per minute and showing how wildly ticket drops can swing.

... also, I think that's the highest praise I've ever gotten from someone who couldn't complete the first mission O.o
Despite the indignity of of having my face walked over multiple times, running what we did of it put it on my must play list. I absolutely loved the customs in it.

A 20 minute mission took at LEAST as long again just to get everyone together.

My Emps (always took Recall Friend) and Warshades were very welcome. Especially the 'shades, who could fly OVER the rest of the Hollows and get to the door.
I remember Hovering across the Hollows to join a team in the mountains and I got there a full 5 minutes before 2 other teammates who were sprinting...and were already halfway there at the time I got the invite. And in those days, Hover speed was measured in geologic time...
  18. I find it too coincidental that the end of the current NCSoft CoX store is on a Monday, which is a really odd day of the week to end on, when almost every new issue launches on a Tuesday.

Although I find it hard to believe they will be ready to go in less than 2 weeks as well.

Maybe allow X year vets to start a character at L22 would help curtail some power level farming.
The problem with PLing is not that somehow making it impossible to do in AE would stop it. It is the change to PLing for newbie players. In the past, a player who wanted to PL had to be proactive, and find out not only where the people who could PL him hung out, but then he had to go find them.

Now, PL for inf is shouted across broadcast in Atlas almost every couple of minutes. A newbie player needs do nothing but join a team, and hence, far more new players end up PLing, and having no clue what they're doing or what the game is about, than would otherwise have done so.

I don't see what the devs can do about though, short of gutting the AE completely.

Then we would have more farms since they would just max out their slots with multiple versions of the same farm (although it appears some do that already).
  22. Oddly enough, it only happens to me in the mornings, never at night.
  23. Lore! uhhhh...good God ya'll....What is it good for?!

Couldn't resist...but to answer your questions...

    1. Reason to subscribe, no. A factor, yes, though pretty much one of the smaller factors.

    2. No. It has its weak points, but I actually don't expect a masterpiece of fiction from a video game.

    3. No in so far as the "current direction" has been towards Praetoria. Yes in that the latest turn has been to start moving toward the Coming Storm.

    4. Significant, no. Some, yes.
