Quote:To be fair, it's an exception. I also want but won't buy the costume slots despite the fact that my main RP character has over 45 outfits. $20 is way too high. I also think $1 for individual costume parts is too high. I've complained about both on numerous occasions. I'm glad the autumn aura is currently 80 points because I was foaming at the mouth about it being 120 points. I don't want it, but I don't want the devs to get the idea that they should be selling individual costume parts for even $1, much less more than a dollar each. The thing is for everyone player like myself that refuses to buy something that is overpriced, there are players with multiple accounts that must buy NAO! Also, there are players, like Dispari, who will think it is overpriced but buy the items anyways.
Mostly I bought the dog to help fund development of future four-legged rig stuff (like an MM set). Though I'd still prefer a wolf. And it needs to work with [Walk]. -
-
I'd buy enhancement storage if they were 75% off.

Having to unlock each pistol separately does sound a bit unnecessary. It would double the demand for the recipe on the market and thus double its price. And no other unlock works this way.
-
Clones seem like something that works for NPCs but would be impractical for players. Kind of like how DJ Zero's superpower is to create pocket dimensions. It works for an NPC but I can't imagine how it would be something they could give players.

Interesting question. My widow uses Warworks and has TT:L and Mind Link. Wonder if that would put them ahead, if this is the real reason Cims do more.

Hopefully the devs are working on the terrible TW flying animations. Not sure what else would be holding it up.

Quote:A) They may not be desirable to you, but someone's going to buy anything they put on there. For instance: I bought the dog today.I keep seeing this argument, and it's pretty hollow. What's the point of putting things on the market if A) they're not desirable, B) they're priced so the playerbase laughs at them, and C) they ultimately won't make Paragon as much money as anticipated? At first I was buying every new thing that the Market spat out. Now I'm just sort of twiddling my thumbs and going "Well that's boring" every week that doesn't have an SSA, a nice aura, or a powerset.
While it's possible they could make more money by offering X instead of Y, it's impossible to know that or make comparisons on what they could've made or put on sale.
I didn't buy the Halloween pack, but I know people who did. I didn't make an angry post about how the devs are making undesirable things.
B) Prices might seem high, but there are still people buying anyway. It's possible they could make a profit if they sold more items for cheaper, but it's pretty difficult to know or predict that kind of thing.
Also, most people are planning on getting things with their free points every month. What would you prefer: one interesting thing every 3-4 weeks, or something you feel you have to spend your points on every single week? We've already seen threads where people are upset that they have to spend real money (instead of use their free points) to buy things. And that devs are putting things out too fast so they can't possibly get all the things they're "owed" without spending real money.
I think a trickle of lower interest items is a safer bet. That way people can pass if they aren't that interested and save for better things.
C) You and I don't really know how much money they're making on this, nor how much money they're expecting to make, nor how the two compare. If it turns out it's not making them much money they'll make changes. It's entirely possible it's going according to plan. -
Bought the pet despite its price. Don't get the wrong idea on future pets though -- I'm buying it as an investment toward future stuff with the new four-legged rig.
Also, it needs to work with [Walk]. It's a roleplayer power; needs to be useable while walking. -

We needed more items that sell for more than the inf limit.
I'm also suddenly reminded of MVP card drops from Ragnarok Online. -
Dog's a little expensive but I got it anyway. My expectation is it took a lot of extra work to make the dog come to life, and they're testing the waters on justification for having made a new four-legged model. Money spent on this now will help them decide to do more with it later. I'm spending my points in hopes they work on a new Mastermind primary next.
-
It's 500 points. But, I'm hoping money spent on this goes toward funding a new Mastermind primary. Other than that, I do feel it's a bit high for a pet power. I'm investing in hopes of future progress.

Great, now this game is going to be City of German Shepherds. They'll be all anyone will make -- characters with German Shepherd pets! Thanks for destroying the game, CoH Devs!

As a rundown, the best pets for general use and damage would be:
Cims - pure damage
Warworks - 2nd best damage and some okay AoE (also lt is ranged for safety)
Phantoms - 3rd best damage
Rularuu - 4th best damage, some decent AoE, both pets also hold
For support:
Seers - Fortiutde, heal, boss does -RECH and holds
Storm Elementals - heal and Hurricane
Special occasions:
Longbow - Highest -regen
Polar Lights - Probably the most AoE damage
Not worth it unless you're going for theme:
IDF
Rikti
Arachnos
Nemesis
Robotic Drones
Vanguard
Clockwork

Quote:I would also want to be able to tint or disable the FX on Combat Jumping. Kind of annoying when I have a "no FX" character who still glows yellow because of CJ.Doesn't seem like this would be all THAT much work. Look at the pools, there are only a handful of skills that would even require any kind of animation/particle/effect work.
Fitness is all passive - Nothing you COULD do, even if you wanted.
Fighting - None of this powers come with any meaningful particle effects. Nothing to change. I suppose they could stick a different animation into Punch/Kick, but there's no point.
Leadership - No FX option for the tiny amount of effects that even exist. Minimal work.
Teleport - Nothing here could feasibly be improved with changing.
Flight - They already have different flight poses...what else COULD there be? Different animation for Air Superiority?
Concealment - No visual improvements to make here
Leaping - The jump kick animation is terribad, that could use an option. Maybe lift something out of Martial Arts?
Presence - Nothing to change.
Medicine - Ah, now we're getting somewhere. A non-tech version of the little fixer widget would be nice, for those who aren't playing mad scientists or robots. The animation wouldn't even need much changing, just the model of the thing you carry in your hand. Wand, medicine stick, tech remote, organic healing blob, whatever.
Speed - Ability to turn off the big golden glow on Hasten/SS
So that's only what, like 10 powers at most? -
-
Quote:That at least I could see. It was one of the only things tying me to the MA set (that and EC's animation). Though I've since moved on to StJ.Martial Arts. I don't want to live in a world where you can't crane kick people off of buildings.
Though I've never had an issue with ST knockback. Just AoE knockback. Especially random AoE knockback. Most especially PBAoE knockback. -

I'm probably weird, but I wait for things to be on beta before I give feedback. You know, when they're actually being presented and tested. Not when they were just offhandedly mentioned or from some teaser or leak. I mean, I had a list of incarnate powers and stuff months before they were even announced, but I didn't make a thread about how IDF pets suck (though I could have).
-
Work on alternates, or save them. With the new stuff that just came out you might look into trading up to something that would fit your build better. If there's nothing, there might still be some tweaks. You could get a Degenerative for when you know Reactive is already fully saturated. Or get a different Lore pet for different stuff (Seers for Lambda for instance). Or get a debuff Judgement (Void).
You could also save them. My main is sitting on a ton of incarnate stuff. She has a bunch of t4s as well (Musculature, Void, Reactive, Warworks, Barrier AND Rebirth). -
Quote:Funny story, I made a new char to level up and took her to DfB to get her to 22 (because after 5 years I just want to skip to SOs). I did a bunch of runs, in which a couple people stuck around the whole time. They were trying to get that badge, but we kept doing 8-man teams. As people came and go we kept explaining how it works but someone would always kill a minion. A random AoE, not paying attention, or a Mastermind pet hitting the wrong target. They got increasingly frustrated after explaining in detail to not attack or kill any minions, only to watch it fail every time. Then in the last run, when they had given up and just didn't mention it at all, we got the badge.the vahz boss badge is hard to get with a lot of players
4 or 5 go for the badge, 6+ it just isn't going to happen. Too many minions beating on people and the AV takes awhile to go down.
Though if you really want the badge it's a lot easier to just do a 4-man team with a couple friends. -

My favorite is when some guy with an AoE knockback opens every spawn by using it so none of my AoEs work.
I for one welcome our new knockdown overlords.
