Quote:Real easy.I'll let you tell me why after having at most 1 taunt-bot capable of not sucking, any melee AT makes a better choice over any ranged damage dealer/buffer/debuffer in this encounter.
Melees have self-defense.
You're up against a powerful level 54 AV, two sets of infinitely spawning level 54 enemies (with debuffs), and a patch that kills you instantly. It's a hectic fight, with stuff going on constantly. There are enemies everywhere, damage everywhere. People have to keep moving, and aren't all going the same way. There's damage coming in from all sides. You aren't always near the buffer and healer. You aren't always in range to get Mind Link or RA. Maybe the rezzer died.
Melees can go punch some people when BM isn't accessible and thin out the herd. They can kill a few of the bosses stabbing the Blaster. Melees don't have to hug the buffer. They don't have to run away from sword ambushes. They don't get one-shotted by BM or her friends.
Melees don't need babysitting. -
Just input, I like Fire Blast for Blasters now that you can make the Fire Breath come from your hand. Fire/Energy Blaster would be a good char for a nice hard punch and fire-tossing abilities from flamethrowers on your hands. Then you can grab Force to get good RES and PFF.

Not a bad start on animal NPC proliferation. Hopefully you guys don't forget to add some here and there. Just don't go overboard. I like how one of the Praetorian Top Dogs is an animal/monster. As long as you throw it in occasionally it'll be a nice comic booky feel. -
I started Alpha on 8 chars, and quickly dropped two I wasn't that interested in. I got six to very rare, then dropped two more who aren't fulltime teaming chars. I'm down to four who will be jumping into the next levels when we get the chance. Right now I'm doing WSTs with the main four, even though they don't need it. Depending on how extreme the new stuff is, I may drop down to just a main 2-3.
But I don't think I'd call that "pressure" or anything. I'd be doing TFs anyway. I just gain something from them this way. -
I tend to agree with most of the points, but I know they didn't have a lot of time to mess with alternate options.
I wish the animal heads could have hair. I wish I could close their mouths. I wish I could make minotaur hooves match the rest of the body. I wish I could have flat feet with animal fur.
I'll wait and see what else we get in the future. -
Doms could slot all "six," that is five of the basic ones and then the pet one. But the pet one isn't that impressive; I tend to slot the new RIP set in its place for a 6.25% rech bonus.
Doms have all forms of attacks (melee, range, PBAoE, and ranged AoE), as well as having easy access to immob, stun, hold, confuse, and sleep. So make a dom and take your pick. -
Lots of Corruptors/Defenders/Controllers with lots of buffs. But even then you might run into some totally ridiculous debuffing enemies. I've run into enemies before that could kill my soft-capped Invuln Brute with perma DP and Unstoppable running.
I don't think there's any one solution. For instance, if you say "well just take a bunch of Doms to mez them all," you might run into unmezzable foes. If you take tons of buffs you may run into larger autohit debuffs. If you take lots of debuffs you may run into powerful buffers. If you try to overpower on damage you might run into really durable enemies. -
This is going to end up being one of those "don't kill the pylons" things that's discussed to death but everyone still has their own idea of how to do it.

That leopard dress is becoming popular.

IMO "something should be done" about Voltiac Sentinel and Gun Drone first.
Having to recast a pet every minute or two is just a pointless time waster.

I say "So long, and thanks for all the vengeance." I also take every opportunity to remind people that living teammates are of no use to a widow.

...asked my Dark Miasma friend to use a color other than blue for her patch.

Level shift applies to all pets. Even silly and inconsequential. Yes, your power drone pet with 10 HP is level shifted because it's one of the most powerful beings in the universe.
The pets are permable with enough recharge (takes a lot though). But in general they aren't meant to be huge bonuses and be around all the time doing tons of stuff. They're just perks like any other power. If you want them to be more durable you could try adding any of the 4 pet uniques that ups DEF and RES. -
I aggro all the time, if the tank isn't moving fast enough for me.
With an AoE attack.
Even if I don't have any DEF.
With my Blasters. -
Quote:This is pretty much all that happens to me that causes me to die. I stay in there doing just one extra melee attack before the patch... just one more... then I do a backward leap to get out of the way... landing right in another patch. Splat. To be honest, all my deaths to blue patches have come not from standing in them rooted, but from moving *into* them by accident while flying or hopping around. Compared to dodging orbital cannons, the blue patches of death are no big deal really.
It's a lot easier to avoid on ranged characters. But even on melees I've gotten used to zooming way out and watching where I'm going (funny that's a "new tactic" I'm trying out). -
I do this stuff because I want to. I enjoy doing the task forces and getting the rewards for it.
-
Also on topic, the new aura is cool. Already using it for my Plant/Earth/Fire Dom. She now has fireballs swirling out of her lava mud pots. And goes well with her fire armor.
I can see it working good as fire, spirits, or just general magicy aura. One of my friends used it for an energy/psi toon that looks good. -
Quote:I renew manually, I don't see what the issue is. Unless you let your account lapse and stay inactive for a whole day you wouldn't have a gap in your paid time. This really isn't fair to those of us who choose to renew manually.
In fact you could even make your next payment a day or two early so that's not even an issue. Which is what I did. -
I still had the launcher downloaded from back when I tested Aion. I never had any issues with it then, so I don't know if it's supposed to be bad or not. I just updated it and ran it. It was smart enough to list all three of my CoH installs (live, test, beta) and tell me which ones require patching. No more having three icons on the desktop and check them periodically. That's pretty nice.
Seems to download pretty fast too. -
You're perfectly capable of doing the things required to obtain Incarnate. It's only your own fault that you don't "feel like it," yet still want the rewards anyway.
-
Gimmicks are not always bad things. A gimmick can be something good, or it can be something bad. It just means it works differently and has its own way of doing things. Recluse's fight in the STF is a gimmick. Hamidon's battle mechanics are a gimmick. The villainside Reichsman fight is gimmicky. For better or worse, good or bad, hard or easy, these are all gimmicks.
It may not be hard for you, but hard may not have even been the goal. Just "different." Some people find different interesting. I think it's a fun fight since it makes me pay attention rather than just executing my attack chain over and over. On some chars like MMs and my Dom, the battlefield even has so much going on I can barely keep up at times. That's far more interesting than most of the game. -
Quote:No. If you do the high end task forces, and the raids, and get components and things, then you're still getting the majority of the incarnate system. You aren't entitled to BAF rewards for free or low effort, but it will go a little slower than you since you aren't getting all the stuff you need for it.So if I hate the BAF but I like Lambda Sector, I'm not entitled to BAF rewards, ever? Even though the next level of trials, which might be something I like, will be balanced around my having BAF rewards?
Furthermore, if I like doing Lambda Sector occasionally, but don't feel like doing it right now, I should just log off my Incarnate, because I can't make any significant progress any other way?
If however you refuse to do all the incarnate content. All the task forces. All the trials. And plot out getting things entirely with shards you got soloing newspaper missions. Then yes, your sense of entitlement in regards to incarnate rewards is too great.
It's exactly how it works now. If you get alpha with entirely components it can go really fast. But let's say you don't feel like doing a CoP or a Reichsman TF (which is a pretty reasonable expectation). You toss a few shards at those components and move on. You can skip some of the things you aren't that fond of.
Now, if you refuse to do any task forces, get any components, participate in any of the WST, then your shards-only route for alpha is 488 shards. I have no sympathy for people saying that's too many. Nor do I have any for people saying 1600 is too many for Judgement et al. There are plenty of options available to you. If you opt to take none of them, and only grind shards, you made your bed with that one. -
Quote:That's great and all, but it's still akin to saying you don't like PvP but still having the expectation that you deserve to have all the PvP badges, temp powers, and rewards without ever stepping into a PvP zone even once. And yet once again the point is missed that the "content associated with the new system" is not the sort of content that these people enjoy.
You're free to not enjoy that new content, but to also have the expectation that you still deserve all the rewards of the incarnate system without actually participating in the majority of it? -
The time between blue patch appearing and hitting is around 8 seconds. The most you'll have to deal with your powers being is around 3.3 (unless you're firing an interruptable snipe).
I've done it with an Elec Brute with the whole 3.3 second animations. Done it with Dominator who's having to use long-root rain and patch powers. Done it with Masterminds (which people also say is impossible) with very few pet deaths, even having to juggle watching patches, watching myself, tasking pets to move, and healing/buffing the team at the same time.
Just practice more. It took a few runs but I can do this without getting killed at all now, regardless of char I take.
