Not what you think. This is strictly professional.

If you have a commissioned artists that you would like featured, please ask them for permission before posting here.

I'm a little unclear as to what exactly I would be asking the artist permission for. Are we simply asking for permission to post the artwork?
  5. It sounds like you are looking for these commands.

<ul type="square">[*]/suppressCloseFx[*]/suppressCloseFxDist 30 (you can set any distance you want)[/list]
I say sounds like because these commands will remove the majority of graphical effects that are on your character. This includes all Dark Armor toggles and all buffs a teammate my apply to you, such as Force Field bubble, Thermal Radiation shields, or Cold Domination shields.

There is a big catch though. Any affect that completely obscures you character will cause your character to disappear entirely. This includes Cloak of Darkness and Granite Armor. I presume it includes Overload but I have not tested it nor heard of anyone testing it.

There is a weak/psuedo workaround. Costume auras will not be suppressed by this command. So instead of a dust cloud with a red halo and/or ghoulish skulls floating about you would simply see some sparkles, or some star bursts. I repeat, you would not see your character. You would only see your characters costume aura. If you don't have a costume aura you simply will not see your character at all.

I know the command does not work on Will Power effects. Babs is aware of it, but since WP effects are so benign I doubt any priority will be placed on the issue.

I created macros for the commands. I typically run with all the effects turned off, but I'll turn them back on if I expect to do a lot of stealthing about.

but CoF seems to grab me more than OG despite OG's low cost.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm likely the biggest CoF advocate so consider this warning.

If you are not prepared for exstensive IO set investment, managing CoF on a Spines/DA build is extremely difficult to manage. Both endurance and accuracy concerns will require multple bonuses to overcome. If you are not prepared for an expensive IO build, I would recomend NOT TAKING CoF on a Spines/DA build.

That stated, I hated my Spines/DA scrapper when you ran OG. Once I swapped in IOs and switched OG to CoF I now find Spines/DA to be a very fun build.

Your advice to your students is to make sure of the gender of who they are talking about?

And how much detail do you give them to carry out that advice?

    Scrapper Forum

Contrary to what some believe, I'm not a min/maxer. That stated, I do like to know what I'm actually putting time and effort into. I won't build for optimal DPS but I want to know what that chain would look like, as I team often and getting hit with 2-3 speed boosts is not uncommon.

Unfortunately, everything gets broken down into numbers. While I wish it could be the contrary, it's undoubtedly the one reproducible way to communicate things on the forums. Everything else is simply too subjective.

There are days where I have a lot of down time and peruse the entire forum. But if time is limited, I start at the scrapper forums FIRST. It's simply more efficient Most everything else is just gossip
  11. I think your suggestion is interesting but hinders on a rather large caveat; what extra tier 9 are the other sets going to get. While this power seems in keeping the theme and function of Dark Armor, I find impossible to judge for balance with knowing what the other sets receive.

For those of us that don't buy into the "DR is a tier 9" nonsense, adding a secondary tier 9 sounds appealing. There are those who actually like Soul Transfer and this option would allow them to retain it. I assume it's possible to make this type of change since it was used on VEATs.

If you want this suggestion to have any real weight, perhaps you can come up with alternate tier 9s for all the other secondaries. Then folks could comment on balance. Without a balance discussion, I don't see something like this ever happening.
  12. Out of curiosity, why couldn't a witch use a rocket launcher? She's got two hands. Heck even Buff the Vampire Slayer used a rocket launcher.

It's not always simple to balance game mechanics with concept. My main does give up some for the sake of concept. She's DM/DA/DM scrapper. That means I have to take a useless power like Torrent or Petrifying Gaze. It REALLY irks me that at level 41 I have to waste a power choice with something useless just to get to a useful power that matches my concept.

Not everyone want to make the some sacrifice, at least not on every character.

    Thoughts of I15?

I'm half/half on the sound FX. Dirt in the caves sounds like your shooshing through snow or something, not running on dirt, and the old water sounded more realistic (if you're running or jumping into water, it should not sound like you just made a perfect dive like an Olympic diver).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Big issue here is they are using a few sounds to cover a variety of similar environment that should each have distinct sounds. The new water sounds sound better for indoor mission where you just run a cross some water where the old sound seems more appropriate for when you jump/fall into he later from 50 feet in the air. You expect some caves to be wet and muddy while others should be hard, dry, and echoey (yeah, I think I made the word up).

The new sounds are fine if they weren't simpy replacements. Barefeet, boots, high heals, and sneakers shouldn't all have the same sound effect. Now considering the shear amount of work would go into making each one distinct, there is simply no way of making everyone happy....well except Horatus.

    Thoughts of I15?

Considering I critisized nay-sayers for prematurely complaining about Issue 15, I am REALLY disappointed with I15.

I have yet to run the new TFs, but considering they're only worth 20 merits and the short duration many players are reporting, it's not really enough to base an entire issue off of.

I'm not too thrilled with the new costumes. New faces are a nice QoL feature, but nothing to get excited over.

I was really hoping the devs were going to sneak in some more Powerset Proliferation to spice up the issue.

Mainly I'm fairly ticked off the nay sayers were basically right.

I am a bit miffed that there is a new City of Expansion, and Villains have received very little in the way of new zones - compared to City of Heroes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Based on dev comments and interviews, I think we can pretty much expect the disparity between villain zone and hero zones to remain the same. They are simply going to get far better mileage for their efforts by making all future zones co-op. Going Rogue will only enforce that scenario, so frankly I would extremely surprised if we ever saw a new villain zone.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Des, no powers grant mez protection in PvP (except for a few that still grant KB protection). It's all resistance. That's one of the big changes that occurred with the I13 PvP changes. The interesting thing about this is that you can't be perma held. Diminishing returns sets in on mez effects rather quickly making holds after the first that lands virtually unnoticeable.

Obsidian Shield is still fully viable just like all of the other mez toggles for Scrappers. Also, remember that, like all of the other mez toggles for Scrappers, it also gives a very impressive suite of debuff resistances in PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry to imply other wise, but my point was Obsidian Shield doesn't offer anything to a scrapper in PvP they wouldn't find in any other scrapper set beyond Psi resistance.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I really haven't found any problems with DA so far in pvp... why is it so bad?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Basically, 55-60% of Dark Armor is completely useless in PvP.

DeathShroud, Cloak of Fear, and Oppressive Gloom are out of the question. No one is going to stand close enough to you for more than a few seconds.

Soul Transfer and Dark Regeneration have of snow balls chance in hell of being used. Again, no one will stand in range long enough to use them.

Cloak of Darkness grants Immob. resistance...meh. It grants stealth...if no body brought insights or +perception powers (tactics or focused accuracy).

Obsidian Shield grants resistance to holds, sleeps, stuns, and fear...not protection. But if you manage to find someone that does psi damage, your golden...

That leaves Murky Cloud and Dark Embrace, great against Negative damage, pretty weak to everything else.

Dark Armor is create when you stack all of it's mitigation tools, in PvP 55-60% don't work, hence your hosed.

EDIT: I left off the good news; If you like PvP and were willing to take the time to learn how it works and become an exceptional PvPer, you can do well with Dark Armor. Not because of Dark Armor, simply because you become an exceptional PvPer. In the mean time, keep plenty of vaseline handy.
  17. STF: 74 minutes, 12 deaths, 2 of them mine.

Special Thanks to Death Conquerer for filling in last minute. Tanker that signed up suffered a severe case of rogue appliance aggro.

Sadly, not a SINGLE Purple drop....from either Milk Run

Hero Milk Run was MUCH easier than Villian version. Will definitely do more of these.
  18. WACKIEST ITF ...EVAH!: 79 minutes (40 of which were spent on Rommy). 45 deaths. 40 of which were on Romy including 3 team wipes.

According to Viv's count, 35 of the deaths were Hamsters.

I have no idea who fed Romy the crack, but ran all over the freaking map. So far away his Nictus could not keep up. We finally locked him down, but too far from the Nictus so we had to take those out individually. On Nictus got so frusrated it buried itself in a ramp...
  19. LGTF: 59 minutes, 9 deaths. Basically a very smooth run.
  20. ...yeeeaahhhhh...I'll be reading these for hours trying to decide.....

I put you down for ITF and STF. LGTF is full, assuming everyone shows, so check with me at start time.
  22. Strictly speaking, any amount of defense you add to your character is an improvement to your survivability. I've often used the phrase "noticeable difference" but understand that's highly subjective.

I personally don't "notice" less than 20% defense to contribute any significant impact on my survivabllity.

I personally do "notice" a substantial difference between 20% to 25 defense and 25%-30%.

While there is no disputing every percent of defense improves your survivability. The issue falls back to my other frequent phrase, "opportunity cost." If Weave is the only defense power you are taking how does it rank against another choice you passed over for it. Could you have taken something else that would have been more significant to your characters performance?

I personally would not take Weave if was my sole source of defense. I personally would take Weave if I can stack with other power and/or IOs to obtain over 20% defense.
  23. Synapse TF: 99 Mins. 8 deaths, 3 of them mine.

Half the team DCd upon exiting CWK mission.
