LOL sorry but what your talking is literally newb talk every time one first hits the shadow shard. I lead alot of TFs there and so see it very often.

Rularuu beholders as old time D&D players like myself tend to call them, being giant eyes tend to have a very high base accuracy, but what you probably dont appreciate is that coupled with that they possess a very potent natural defense debuff that is specifically designed with the intent of shredding even the strongest layering of def.

The Shadow Shard and its denziens are the original lvl 50 content. They infact where made so well that most weak tea QQ players simply avoid it.

My oldest PC is a Kat/SR who was there and fight and died countless times in the initial Rul Invasion so long ago. It taught me many lessons about the true nature of SR.

If your really that incarnated on an SR you should have the RIGHT incarnate powers to compliment SR. ( Hint its called Rebirth. Spot Heal and huge regen bonus is EXACTLY what SR needs).

Also really learn to turn down the challenge. Here is how you tell your at your actually right dif. If you only die now and then typically to multiple bosses or better. If your running content that kills you frequently your in way over your head. No shame but dont go acting like its not on you that you cant hold your own against the cranked up dif.
  2. First off folks. I already told you Marcus is fine and dandy.

Secondly some folks seem to be under the mistaken impression that Wade stole Statesmans power. Which is utterly absurd. What he did do was tap into the Ruluruu, because wade was part of a little thing called the Path of the Dark, a cult bent on bringing an end to everything. Though many modern worshippers delusionally believe they can master the dark entity of the shadow shard.

Thirdly Stephan for all his posturing is more then likely to take Wades attack on his old friend quite personally. Expect Recluse himself to be shifting rogue more likely then not in the coming months. Especially considering Tyrants intrusions into our world. Recluse might be a meglomaniac bent on world domination, but he will be damned if he lets anyone else conquer it first.

This message was brought to you by Crey Global Enterprises. We make the nightlight that keeps the darkness at bay and your child safe in thier dreams. Psi Scrambler optional.

    Crey. Because we care!
  3. first you get that all badges with accolades have to have an equiv for both sides due to pvp balance and the fact we can now swap sides as we choose.

Red side is dead side, has been this way a long time even on virtue one of the top pops with a strong history of RP anti heroes. Either go rogue, so when you feel the need to team u can go blue side, or learn to handle any challenge solo as that is the way of the red ATs anyways, better solo, better in pvp virtually across the board then blue side equivs. Red side also has a distinct tendancy to bring out negative player behavior. A lack of good teamwork, and a willingness to get others killed and then act like it isnt a big deal to waste thier time.

Frankly I only LEAD SFs when I go red side or solo. I never ever am willing to work with others when they have the star red side. EVER!

So really man if your a social butterfly your flying the wrong part of the sky. go soar over paragon and meet all the fellows you want.
  4. Blasters low....on anything....really? I mean like REALLLLLLLYYYYYYY!

My blaster 1-50 was the team on teams, carried TFs and at 50+ has been a gawd among all others. Hell he is so bad *** in part 5 he SAVES Statesman. Yeah thats right you heard me. All these good for nothings cant save a fish from drowning.

I tell you the nerve of some folks these days trying to spread such contemptable lies about the various ATs.

Here is my advice judging by the list L2P mutha *&^%$#

sorry been watching die hard again
  5. Its always odd these rumors that float around. Ill be sure to let Marcus know about these tales of his demise. They should give him a good laugh.

You see he didnt die despite all these tongues wagging on. No you see what happened was this.

As Wade took on the power of the Dark and prepared to consume Marcus Cole, the oft unsung Immortal hero and co founder of the midnighters Bentley Berkeley leapt between the traitor who had once been his most prized pupil, and one of his oldest friends.

You see Bentley has been around along time, fighting the Cult of the Dark. Those mad fools like Wade became who thought they could master the power of the Devourer of Dimensions. For a long time he has fought against beings like Requiem and been hunted by Nemesis for the secret of his immortality.

What made him immortal is a secret none knew for he kept it close. You see when Imperious sacrificed himself to stop Romulus he left a fragment of power in his own child, that child would spend more lifetimes then men could dream of waiting to fullfill a prophecy given him by the oracle. that one day another champion gifted as his father was would fall on the very mountain they then stood upon. But with his sacrifice that champion could be restored and the world would not fall to the Dark.

So that day as Marcus Cole saw his life flash before his eyes and feel his power leave him, Bentley was there and calling upon centuries of magical skill honed to perfection he layed his former student low. Then he kneeled by the body of his old friend, and summoned up the shard of power his father had left him with, and with will and word drove that shard into Marcus Cole. Reviving the man free of the possession of the entity beyond the Well known as Zeus.

Now Cole walks among us, once more a man, but now on his own slow path to regaining the power he once knew, but this time in control of it, and not it controlling him. As for that hero who mentored so many young mages among paragon known as Ol'Birc? Thats a story for another day.
  6. Now I personally feel this is a complex issue. Frankly I approved of AE farming from day one. See by the time AE came around I had grown ill with contempt and a general loathing for large SGs many who acted very high and mighty, but in fact practiced the most extreme forms of PLVing by portal farming, and using this as thier major draw in recruitment. To me that is the worst kind of hypocrisy.

So that ofcourse meant PLving and farming was exclusively in the hands of the big groups which is wrong. AE made it so anyone with an average farm build could farm if that was thier thing. Personally I dont farm. I love the merit systems and making it so just by playing content I earn steady progress towards needed IOs. Run alot of various tfs every day mostly with pugs full of new players who appreciate smooth first time runs.

I also love AE for its potential to tell the story, and if anything feel that the Virtue Server considering all the energy spent on virtueverse, could have a really huge and consolodated rpae project if they bothered to get along instead of being divided among hundreds of tidus mental cloned Its my story and it will go the way I want to or end it right here ego trips.

i dont have any great AE rankings under my belt, my best AE contribution would probably be 46665, a simple little one mission lore based arc simply meant to let characters have options when considering the different factions in the game. Among others it helps to give a sane answer to the popular newb question I see from players when they first hit brickston and go "Uhm why are we fighting the police?" because most do see crey as somekind of corporate police until higher levels. feel free to check my old arc there btw and give me hell for it if you think it sucks. just know its more about stealth and investigation then battle, though there is some good action to be had.
  7. There is a very simple reason behind why I have been on the just remove all non IOs for a while.

Whether we like it or not COX is a PVP MMO. One of the biggest sources of imbalanced since the launch of COV was players using the hami o exploits.

Take another beloved MMO of mine Guild Wars. The reason it works both as a casual PVE and PVP RPG for so many is that there is no super gear to imbalance the odds. Sure there are rare items in that game, but they are only highly prized for thier COSMETIC aspects. And believe me when I say pretty moves that games economy as surely as it does in the real world.

When you have items, especially rare ones, that can significantly effect the balance of power between 2 players, it will always lead to balance issues in PVP especially if PVPers want it to not require any real time spent on PVE to feel competitive.

PVP IOs where an attempt, poorly thought out though it was, to balance it back. However the right answer was to always REMOVE anything not earnable through our reward merit system that has proven itself a great success in attracting players to run TFs, hunt GMs as groups, and in general enjoy alot of content that had spent its fair share of time being hated upon.

If it can be only aquired through PVE play then frankly it cant be that good in the game we now play in. Look at the mothership raid for example. Id say its more fun then Hami anyday of the week, at least equally challenging to get organized and run. but none of its rewards are really significant combat upgrades. in fact much like In GW for a long time it was its costume unlocks alone that would bring fresh 50s out in droves to earn the V Merits.

Its not that I dont understand the frustration of losing the feeling of being a viable build. My oldest Kat/SR went through it multiple times. ED, the changes to how powers like ELude worked making perma a distant memory and his only if insane goal left he has to reaquire the power he once had.

Sometimes though the game will change, and a characters sets just wont ever feel the way they used to. Sometimes a new character using the new sets will be the only thing that keeps you interested. Sometimes a long break so u can come back and start fresh and not burdened with the fresh memory of how it was just working last week.

However it is also a FACT that it was long ago made clear by the DEVs that the HOs where not WAI and that it was a top issue they where working on though they adimitted freely it might take them, and did take them years to fix it.

My problem with and aggressive tone isnt directed at any who used them, but those who used them to have an unfair edge, and now complain that its a NERF when in fact its evening the playing field.

Let me compare it to another MMO I play off and on DDO( Dungeons&Dragons Online) the MMO that really first prooved the FTP gamble could save a game on the brink if done well.

Sadly over the last few updates they have also has exploits of game breaking nature evolve on par with the HOs and thier long time impact on things like PVP balance.

In DDO the first exploit that was akin to the HOs actually happened long ago, during a period when a raid was bugged, and through a clever trick using an in game spell, allowed players to avoid actual completion of the raid, still get most of the loot, and therefore rapidly grind out something you where not meant to be able to run more then once every 2 and a half days. To this day there are players wandering around with a personal armory of such diverse power, that even with new items added, these old ones due to the nature of thier power still remain among top items new players will spend years to aquire, what some exploiters aquired in a few weeks.

The most recent ones are equally bad. One allowed players to in a matter of hours max thier currency caps on multiple characters, and stock pile away high end items that are incredibly rare in such quantity as to make any one else's efforts to be a respectably equipped player become meaningless. This was in ways on par to the great AE launch debacle with PLving. Fortunatly Our Devs here at Paragon used the lesson to improve our sidekick/exemplar system and our game in general.

Lastly in DDO is the current and now unfixed for months one, allowing players to trade items meant to be bound to character or account. THis would be comparitive if in COX we suddenly could througha known bug, sale things like incarnate materials and hero/villain merits to each other or even post them on the AH. Its so bad over in DDO players do it with an intentional tone of mockery towards the admin and devs of thier own game they claim to love so dearly.

That is where my real tone of contempt is directed here in COX, those who used this exploit and now dare to call it a nerf. Effectively admitting to being an exploiter which in any game, for any reason, is just simply an intolerable behavior to see in anyone I am expected to share the game with.

I am a VERY big fan of perma bans on those known to repeat exploit FYI and see exploiters of any nature as no different then gold farmers as far as being a cancer upon any MMOs community.
  8. I have little doubt I am one of those the OP is kind of talking about. I must come off at times like a big hater of the game because of my odd anti statesman rants, but all that really is is my pro CREY talk. as some may recall my main SG is crey themed and has been around for a good long time now. We view crey as truly good, if sometimes acting in the morally questionable grey area any government/ military does during war with an overwhelming enemy. They viewed statesman as being on the same path as tyrant pretty much, and did all they could to slow that down.

My cyniscm rarely has anything to do with a dislike of the game itself, and I think that is probably true of a number of others. Remember this, if they didnt care about the game they wouldnt be speakin strongly about the game on its forums one way or another.

As long as you actually enjoy the way the game plays and can find fun in game with friends or random folks then you shouldnt hate on it. If its feeling abit old to you go paly something else until u got the itch again.
  9. Personally most of the icon heroes never did much for me. Heck most where blatant direct spoofs of mainstream comic icons and we all know which ones.

However among the lore of the history of paragon there is one story alone of 2 heroes who frankly lived and died as fair little comic stories in thier own right.

Galaxy Girl and her partner Dauntless! Surprisingly few people I RP with on virtue know as much as I do, and all I really know is the same info anyone else has access to, maybe spiced up abit with my imagination.

Once upon a time there was a girl named kelly and a boy named robbie, and they grew up together in Paragon Heights. Never heard of it? well its a lost region still ruined to this day.

Kelly was a little red headed spitfire of an irish girl who was always quick to protect little robbie who the bullies liked to call runt. More then once she knocked down a boy bigger then her to make a point size didnt matter. Robbie learned that lesson from her to.

So they grew up, and kelly was always helping out and looking out for those in need around the Heights. Then one night fate would take her down a dark alley, and there in a moment of action faster then thought and a flurry of gun fire her powers as a kin/energy defender would manifest.

Soon robbie caught on to kelly flying around as galaxy girl and made it clear he wasnt going to let her do that kind of dangerous stuff without him at her back.

Years passed and they grew into adults, and heroes in the fullest sense of the word both in and out of the tights. It was at the soup kitchen where kelly volunteered that a challenge she wasnt ready for would strike.

Attacked by an assassin who specialized in killing capes, she was caught off guard and made the mistake of holding back with so many eye witnesses around. Overwhelmed all seemed lost for her and the people at the shelter.

Dauntless a mere man came at the meta human monster who had layed mightier beings then him low, with a fury of fist and shield( I always imagine dauntless as a shield guy dont know why) drawing a line in the sand with his own life. he bought kelly the time she needed to recover and draw upon the kinetic energy released in the fight.

However it was only as the killer dealt his coup de grace' to Dauntless that kelly was able to overwhelm and drive off the monster. dauntless died that day a hero far to little known for all his heroic sacrifice.

But that wasnt the end. No kelly kept going, but after robbie, her heart was gone, and soon she retired to being more of a mother to the troubled youth of the Heights.

When the war came with the rikti and the first ships appeared in the sky, she was among the first in the air holding a line, a grand motherly lady in an old cape that hadnt seen an iron in years.

During the battle a group of heroes lead by miss liberty where surrounded and cut off as a retreat was ordered. Refusing to give ground any more then dauntless had for her she put herself between the young heroes and a volly. She pulled in more kinetic energy then she had ever dared, focussed it through herself. A field enveloped the stranded, laser fire dispersed like sunlight on a prism. The explosion vaporized the rikti and left the region ravaged, but miraculously the young heroes and the civilians they had tried to lead to safety where unharmed. No sign of Galaxy Girl was ever discovered.

Now those are heroes to look up to. just my two inf.
  10. I hear you OP I hear you...

As a long time lore based RPer on virtue, running such characters like my forum handle here on this baby account now for a few years among others I always enijoy good casual RP with newly met heroes and villains while running a TF or just relaxxing at the D, Midnighters, or paragon Us around the city. Or our new roof top park in AP( thanks devs!)

Ill freely admit my first characters where D&D based, I was a D&D player rolling dice when a friend first showed me this game while he was in BETA. It was only a few months after launch I broke down and bought the game, relized I couldnt run it yet, and had to upgrade my system lol. ah the good old days.

Then as I played the game it wasnt long before I got to enjoying a fair bit of the plot, even if I was as some say already twisting it to suit my tin foil hat view of the world.

But I new a few things about Jack. Like the fact he worked on Planescapes Torment, one of the greatest D&D pc conversion rpg of all time. And that jack himself was a huge fan of D&D and that paticular setting in it. I dont think any who played it wont see more similarity in our portal corp/ourobros method of travel then say when comparing star gate to portal corp as so many non D&D folk do. or the wowtards calling it our demon gate knock off. like get real. Jack was also a huge greek myth buff, and Ive even read articles saying he wrote and ran alot of mythical history type D&D campaigns in his college days. So how our games constant greek god influences kept increasing as time went on never surprised me nor conflicted with most of my later concepts that started expecting more connections with the ancient greek world.

Eventually I would even take the last of my first years on my vet account, a drow named Istyn'Dor Alvyr based on one of my most beloved D&D PCs of old, a simple sword master. I did alot with him first year then shelved him near perma status for a long time after ED took the legs out from under perma elude builds.

While he collected dust id make such characters like Bentley Berkeley, Demetrios Vasilikos, and maybe the most important one in my crey is really good RP The Invisible Falcon. Who even once by mere chance met ghost falcon in game when he was running that apex TF with a group who had a player in it who won some contest. I was just passing through the war zone and saw him, couldnt help but introduce myself to my praetorian twin I will always admit that is the one thing I do wish I could of been on. somehow it would of been right to have a master of the ghost falcon task force badge on my IF but ah well, we cant all win time with the dev icons.

Eventually though Id finally settle on the right concept to recreate my old drow as. A few costume changes, and a name change and T'Keron Valmaz was born. Simple enough concept using game lore really, Infernals background mentions how his best friend and closest rival t'keron tried to bind the lord of demonkind valmaz. some cosmic mishap occurred and all 3 beings where sucked through.

Now I RP that the Infernals of primal earth and praetoria are in fact two halves of the same being. the idea that two infernal earths exist seems abit much to me always has. So instead I figure since both infernals arrived in primal and praetoria at the same time the two worlds each got one half. Meanwhile I RP that T'Keron and Valmaz where fused into something unholy and frightening. I imagine all gods, demons, immortals what have you can largely only function on such a level because they lack alot of human traits, hell traits any mortal sentient has.

So Valmaz, once a being with not even the concept of love or mercy etc is now flooded with such things, and the memories and will of the mans soul still haunts him, trying to fight for control every second. In my RP T'Keron is one of the great unsung heroes of the cox multiverse for his sacrifice has done what no other could, taught the devil himself how to love humanity even as he hates it.

Saying all that, nothing. I mean NOTHING kills my immersion faster these days then probably that WoD vampire stuff. I can get blending D&D pantheons and the Multi Verse presented in its older school settings as there are imo many similarities as i said earlier. However when it comes to things like vampires and were wilves in coxverse I do tend to assume its more a case of our council friends and time travel planting those legends in history. I have met many great Vamp RPers who use those aspects.

I have even seen one who blends the anne rice queen of the damned concept well into the above. altering it in that it was council who during the time seen in the cimorea zone discovered her the last of some ancient species, who was experimented on and turned into the first vampyri. she would escape, and on occasion create another on accident.

That I can at least easily random LRP with but the WoDs I meet have these hang ups that would in the COXverse make them seem well delusional is the best word I have for it. Its about as bad as everyone saying they are psychic/immune to mental intrusion but have no powers in thier sets to make that have any logic.

I tend to feel that if your new, then sure drawing from outside RPGs is likely as drawing from comics or movies. However if your going to RP in the world outside of some tight knit little RPSG then you need to be a part of our world not expect us to become a part of your smaller one.

I've had problems before with other characters pulling aggro off my scrapper so I'm interested in tricks for holding aggro. (Yes, I know, no gauntlet, but hopefully at least something will be applicable.)

P.S. Good news, damaging AM on Keyes doesn't matter anymore. The pulse cannot even outdamage natural unbuffed health regeneration.
If you want to play scranker then I suggest shield or WP as your 2ndary. They give a good foundation for aggro draw. Shield is likely to be softer during leveling but with the right pools, sets, and incarnate powers you can pretty much fill up all the cracks in a shield by 50+. WP is definatly easier to focus on just stomping while holding aggro. Real toggle and forget set that lets you then focus on DPS to hold aggro the old fashioned way. Short of heavy dps builds that should let you keep aggro.
  12. First to be fair its fairly obvious said tanker was a new player anyways. And likely a solo player. Solo tanks dont need taunt hate to tell you OP. With 3 builds per character now, nothing says a new player has to have his first build be other thena fun to play solo build. You should keep those aspects in mind when speaking with new comers and not attack them for not choosing a power YOU want all tanks to have.

As others have mentioned in the thread, some tank sets also give solid alternatives like aura effects or constant pbaoe dmg to really take advantage of thier gauntlet effect.

Nor can you discount the superior aggro holding power of a serious DPS tank. Alot of people forget that one of the reasons DPS tanks are legendary when done well is that when your dishing out dmg equal to the best scrappers and even blasters, then they cant ever pull aggro off you. Unlike tanks who rely to much on taunt, which actually has a habit of not keeping aggro off of top dealing dmg builds.

I run with alot of tanks on my blaster. most ask me how I out tank them I infact only know a handful that do the actual role of tank when i am blasting, most of them are super strength builds capable of multi stacking rage, using abilities like vet shadow maul during thier crashes, and never waste a power slot on taunt.

The fact is I dont even see tanks as essential in protecting teams on the vast majority of regularly played content. I run TFs frequently and rarely if ever say hm we need a tank for this guys. In fact the last time I had a fellow blaster say that, and then witness me doing that, they quit the tf feeling utterly impotent next to a blaster who doesnt need a tank. Ofcourse Ive done the same to scrappers while playing supposedly less optimal scrapper set comboes. Ah the tears of the kat/regen are eternally sweet I do tell you.

Anyways its late and I am ranting now so night

Thank you for your time Virtue.
Smog and ferret eh. Dont think I have ever seen characters by those names, but ill be happy to keep an eye out for them on the off chance I do cross paths.

Upside is about a bazzillion F + ferret names in existance. I could see frenetic ferret for example, fire ferret, force ferret, phantom ferret, fiesty ferret, future ferret, kung fu ferret, and the list goes on. Maybe some of those can work for you in the meantime.

And ofcourse one can always honor the most famous and heroic of all ferrets and go with codo. That little guy went out like a champ. As a D&D player I often like to ponder how many high lvl evil priest die to the trip attack of a less then one hit die creature.
  14. Well personally the hurricane debuff is so AWESOME that my psi ment blaster loves that lore pet. If your looking for other flyer ones, the praetorian seers fly and are fairly useful. the drones I believe all are little hover things too
  15. Lets see as a gentleman rogue who spends no small bit of time at virtues D I say I love all gamer girls equally

Id say i favor none as I go with bold and flirty or shy and sweet on a whim. Human or other matters little as well Ill take a cat girl or a alien with scaly skin and a tail if they are fun to chat with, though them cat girls can be the meOW!

Im big on lore based RP so do enjoy when the lady has enough brain in her head to pick up on some of the basics of our games world which most Lore RPers I know are women. Seems guys tend to go more with the look at my so called original uberman, where as ladies who RP seem more interested in being part of a smooth flowing universal approach easy to fit into once you know the game abit.

I also RP 2 female characters, no not lesbians, though I have them married in concept to avoid those pesky guys like myself One is the praetorian dimensions countess crey, aka Julianne Thompson. The other is our worlds countess crey see both married to my alts the counts from both domensions Actually Julianne though only one I play now and then is one of my favored lore based concept toons to use, though Id probably let a serious lore rping female pilot take the name and concept over if I found one interested.
  16. WO quoting our resident thread troll, my comments on Support builds.

One of my beloved scrappers, and same toon as my forum handle, is a doctor. Yes he takes his energy sword and endlessly regenerating body and holds the front line to keep innocents safe. but should an ally be injured he is quick with a heal, should an ally fall then vengeance is had and once all is clear a res will be given.

In other words my scrapper is running a pool set more commonly seen on defenders.

Leadersip: all but the silly dmg boost toggle
Healing: all but the silly clear mind power
Teleport: Recall friend is all anyone really ever needs from this set sadly
Hasten: well I am regen after all

I call it the task force commander build as he leads alot of the core tfs frequently. Built to get any job done, and carry any team through it. Support doesnt always come with a noncombative mindset, nor is it one strictly determined by being female, because I am very much a male, and revel more in leading those who might otherwise falter and fail to victory then simply being so mighty i can do it all alone( i could but what would be the fun in being a bad *** without witnesses?)

As for most empaths being female characters. LOL REALLY? You honestly think a toon being female indicates a female pilot. Oh How I WISH THAT WAS TRUE.

Id lay money at least 3/4ths of all female toons in game are male players.

DP-Is a nice middle of the road set but I expected a little more out of it. It can be amazing when proc'd out but I think it needs a little more damage added to it. I have a DP/Kin that can really just devastate mobs but I consider DP a lot like Archery: A Great set, but without certain powers it can make leveling tough and sluggish. For me Archery and Dp didn’t truly click until HoB and RoA...now keep in mind this is just my opinion BUT I see this echoed a lot in game and on the Forums. You may be right about DP but I can't help the way I feel about things.

Psi Blast- I made a Psi/Nrg Blaster and I simply LOVED him but I was tired of faceplanting from certain mobs that would shake off my attacks...now keep in mind that they have buffed Psi Blast since then but I'm going on how I feel about the set when I played it. The immob was slow traveling and the activation took forever. A lot of the time critters would already be in my face before the immob/Kb hits. My feelings have nothing to do with what others say about Psi...it comes from what I have experienced. Maybe I should take another swing at it since things have changed *shrug* it will be a while since it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Gravity is NOT the best control set in the game no matter how you look at it sorry. I love the idea of the set; I love Wormhole and Singy but never again (until the buff in beta hits heh, heh). The slow damage, the long activations you get stuck in, the long wait for wormhole, the many flaws of wormhole, it's all a bit rough. I must admit one thing though; Gravity has the Best pet in the game hands down. Singy is a force to be reckoned with he can hang with big mobs, EBs, Av's and even GMs and not break a sweat.

Spines is amazing ONCE you get it to 50. Have you tried leveling a spines? You chain is pretty anemic and only the most devoted can level one without wanting to rip out their hair.
Sorry if I came off sounding aggessive. My focus was not on you despite quoting you, but more to try and avoid more of the common these power suck myths I see popping up more and more lately.

Once again no attack was meant and I do apologize if I came off to personal.

So am I. We learn alot IN GAME about statesman if you go through all the content.

Also on a side to those saying things like statesman as always been all of ours standard and icon.

Not all character concepts are fresh young heroes, some of us RPers are even so hard core about that we dont use the actual name we want for a character until we have them to 50 or even all the way incarnated out now days.

Examples of old characters of my own who would never have LOOKED UP to statesman as it where due to age or race.

Bentley Berkeley: On charter as one of the founders of the midnighters club( and in game founder of the lore based sg Midnighter's Club) and at least around a century old, though there is lore that alludes to him possibly being older. I have RPed him for years that he in fact is from the time of imperious, and has spent a long time keeping the kheldian menace from conquering earth and devouring humanity in mass for thier bodies to host the new born extra dimensional entities. Be he a hundred or thousands of years old, he is one of my own mentor rp characters who I play largely to avoid that common feeling so many have of always feeling like a booster gold next to hal jordan.

T'Keron Valmaz: If its not obvious, he is conceptually what happened to the other passengers that came with infernal from his own world and one other realm. A scrapper made in year one, he has always been played more as a tormented anti hero, until we got alignment shifting. He has since gone from blue all the way to red then back to rogue status, and wavers there as the human part of him struggles to win control but can do little more then keep the very worst of the demon lord in check. In my RP T'Keron is one of the great unsung heroes of the multi verse, for though he failed to fully bind the demon lord to his will, he has managed to indirectly reduce the monsters evil and even on occasion manages to take enough control to do some good. I also RP him being leader of a faction of the circle of thorns who still hold true to the ancient ways and persue a war on the children of MU and the followers of Tielekku to honor the ancient pact between man and demon to keep them free from the controlling forces of gods,

I could go on, but those are just a few examples of lore based concept characters that are fun to RP, fit thier power sets and abilities well, and frankly have 0 reason to look at statesman as other then a would be god among men.
  19. I was going to stay out of this one but ah what the heck its early and I am bored.

Dear OP there is no NERF there was a fix to a long time exploit that ONLY the lowest of the lowe made use of.

Let me put it this way, when I first discovered the exploit so long ago, I swore off hami raids, and all HO usage simply because it was more work then they where going to be worth once they got fixed, even pre ED era.

People also dont like to talk about it but HOs got heavily farmed during a short lived era of another exploit prior to ED that allowed Kheldians to put all slots into a single power and with no ED that meant a truly titanic power. One Shotting the real hami was a big joke to them during that barely whispered of era. HOs where stock piled so massively by certain SGs on servers that it forever tainted hami to me and anyone with a sense of sportsmanship and using even one hami O in a power that it wasnt meant to buff was and still is seen by many as incredibly cheesy cheatery. careful with all that clogging your blood up.

Frankenslotting IO sets would become the new FAIR way to try and stretch your slots pure % effectivness, and works very well.

It seems to me OP your entire argument is based around it impacting a specific character of yours, a shield user. ANd complaining that it was only due to the broken exploit build you had that made you feel equal to GM killing Offender and Troller builds.

Are you CEREAL! I mean really? A scrapper well built and fairly like say a dark/SR can, should, and could take on up to 8 AV at once( seen vids of it on the forums over the years) and in general a good scrapper should be able to solo some of the various AVs though not all.

Shields stength was never even meant to be about facing an AV or better, shield is a trash mob killer set. a FARM set if you will. The only people who take it and get what its for are farmers, or concept players who dont sweat the numbers.

I am glad you had time to shine while shield slinging, but it wasnt suppose to ever be. If you cant enjoy playing a shield the WAI then you never should of rolled one up let alone invested time and inf in building him to take advantage of something always stated as a exploit that would not should, be fixed once they could without breaking the game.

IMO reguardless of how hard HO are to aquire they shouldnt be made better in anyway. the whole raid is part of an outdated wowtard add on put there to sate the least useful of the player base. For years my SOP for anyone admitting to Hami Running for HOs is auto ignored to save me the hassle of ever risking teaming with them again.

HOs are just bad mkay. Get on board with IOs already or stay SOs and be happy.

You are aware half of the game is called city of villains right? and the new part lets you be loyal to the tyrant. So why exactly does everyone playing have to be pro cape again?

T'Keron Valmaz my eldest character and a rogue before we had red side or rogues, a mans soul fused with the lord of demonkind, would and could never bring himself to harm his old friend and ally K'Varr( infernal) but he wouldnt have even one moment of hesitation in rending Zeus's avatar limb from limb if given a heart beat to do it in.
  21. Dear OP, I get what your saying, but its largely based on a mythical figure who never existed even in our games world.

The following is my view of statesman since year one, and personally I feel all lore since has only supported it.

The man named Marcus Cole was a good and noble soul once upon a time. After the great war he and his friend became fascinated by myths of ancient beings commonly called Gods.

During this same time roughly the Dawn Patrol was founded and being lead by the first true hero of our era, Sir Alistair Sutton a ace fighter pilot in the great war and founder of the first super group. These brave and noble men would scour the globe learning all they could about the occult, magic, ancient technology, and the most secret and estoric of martial arts. They where taking the batman path as it might be called.

Marcus and Stefan on the other hand where glory hounds, eager to aquire knowledge and power. For that lust they would pay the ultimate price. For when they found what they called the well of furies( not its real name despite what its called in game) which is in fact just one of many portals linking the multiverse. It lead to the dimension where extra dimensional entities must reside when they cannot find a suitable host. I nicked named them grand daddy kheldians.

The entity known as Zeus, who has long sought to **** and pillage humanity all across the multi verse once more saw an oppurtunity to enslave earth, and so consumed the soul, and took over the body of Marcus. The guise of statesman was not adopted out of a selfless desire to do good works. No it was donned to garner worshippers to bolster his power through the faith of the ignorant masses.

This monster then used an artifact containing the essence of his mate( THe girdle of Hera), long ago imprisoned by ancient heroes of earth, to take over a human woman who was dear to marcus cole. A further insult to his only rival in the world at the time. The man called recluse has long been seen as a monster, but is he?

Did he drink first or only after seeing what happened to his dear friend. Or did something else happen entirely. Hades by some in modern times is mistakenly seen as evil because he is keeper of the dead and lord of the underworld. But there was a time when many saw him as the most compassionate for he alone was the one who kept constant contact with the countless souls that came into his realm.

Did perhaps Hades come to aid Stefan as a consequence of a soul being consumed by zeus, alerting him to a new cycle of conflict.

What is sure is that not once since the day Statesman was created has he done anything but manipulate the world to suit his goals. The fact we also know gods typically can possess multiple avatars, and are not limited by space and time as mortals are, may well imply that all variants of marcus cole are controlled by the entity known as Zeus.

Statesman isnt dead, he simply never existed.

I am not saying that we as player need someone to emulate. My characters forge their own paths. But often in literature, film, or whatever, there tends to be a character that stands our as a moral centre of the story. Now, of course, we should be able to be that person, but would the game be able to allow it? For an NPC, no problem. Just write everything that way. But to have the game respond to a character as such? Harder.
Havent seen that newer batman/superman animated film where darksied takes super girl for a new soldier. Superman for all his power is NOT the reason Darksied yields in the end.

Quoting darksied best i can "Well played human, had the amazon or the kryptonian tried such a gamble I would have called thier bluff. But you? No your own kind slaughter each other for table scraps. Only you would I believe capable of such an act."
  23. There has and will always be only one man worth looking up to when things seem darkest

Count Alphonse Crey! I have been RPing him for years and so I can personally assure you all here, there is absolutely no one more committed to protecting humanity from the tyranny of all META.
  24. Sorry OP cant agree with you. I have taken long breaks myself, I know some who have recently returned after being gone since the great ED population drop off.

I myself do sit on any good name I come up with to be safe. Usually lore based names( virtue forever) or some very concept specific one.

Maybe if you mention what name your after someone here can help you out. there are no few stories floating around about forgotton account info and people just starting up new accounts rather then worry over the old one. Those alone are probably the only true case of lost names that might annoy newer players.

However saying there are no good names is also abit extreme. Many good lore based name sources exist. I run several, always do a report on myself to get a discussion started with an admin so I can be sure the name wont be genericed in a few days just as I am getting into the character.

Saying that and the above that I am sitting on a few good concept lore names I already made sure are safe to use on virtue, maybe describe the character concept your working on developing and power sets etc and we can brain storm some possible ideas for you.

Sorry but even as one who mainly solos when not leading pug tfs, I cant agree with this, the fact is if TFs didnt force me to form groups Id just solo them all the time to. Sometimes it is good to FORCE a group for story purposes. Outside of some super builds few can solo and AV at lvl, all tfs MUST end with a AV class fight or destroy the reason they reward more then any other content merit reward per time ratio. Which isa big draw in getting players to join them. Once I explain to a new player how 200 merits equals an LOTG 7.5 they cant stop earning the things enough.

Plenty of decent solo content in the game, doesnt mean all content must be.
