  1. Ha! You do go on, Sammy.

It didn't really answer my question (that was already answered), but as always, an enjoyable read. I knew most of it, but there were tidbits of old history there for me to learn from. I'm an "old hand" to a lot of newbs, but those early days I missed with their radical changes are always interesting to me.

I'm still glad I started with I6, though. I think if I'd started pre-I5 I'd have gotten bored quickly and maybe bowed out.
  2. /signed, even though the only SG I really belong to has no intentions of changing names. The prestige sink sounds better than the straight inf one, though.

Just run your nails down a chalkboard. It's worked for "you" in the past.
  4. Ooo, that 300 is a nice touch. What're the units? Feet? Yards? And what's the default distance on the first bind?
  5. Looks passable, but yeah, that boy's been doing a lot of forearm exercises.

On screenies from the log in or the costume editor or anywhere not "in the game", you still hit "print screen", but then you have to open a graphics editor like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP or (last resorts) Paint or the word processor from Microsoft and paste it in.

EDIT: Oh, and some visual aids...

    Chest: Bare Chest Smooth
Chest Sub: Tee. Color it black so the male nipples don't show through.
This may be a sticking point one may have to choose to one's preference. When I made my Virtual Lad, that's exactly what I used (in red, not black) and several of my SG-mates "jumped down my throat" (in a friendly way, of course) that he was still too muscular.

I ended up going to Tights Smooth with a contrasting T-shirt overlay and it looked a LOT better. Plus it's very "in fashion" for kids to be layering a t-shirt over a long sleeved shirt.

But, as always, it all comes down to what you want it to look like.

i.e. Please forget about the buying vets rewards bit and tell me if the idea of a parallel stream of subscription-time-based rewards taking now(ish) as a start point has been suggested before?
To my knowledge, it has not (although I have not searched to see).

And if not: does it have any merit?
To my mind, no it does not. We have Veteran Rewards already. There's no need for a second tier of this. First tier is plenty of thanks. Just because people have the patience of a hyperactive gibbon and ridiculous entitlement issues is no reason to change it.

    Durakken misreads:

So... if you've been playing since day one and got both CoH and CoV... you should have 12 slots per server. Plus 8 extra placeable slots after getting going rogue...
No, plus two, like it said. GR isn't marketed as a "stand alone" like CoV was, you have to already have CoX for it.

Not to mention, though, that if you've been playing since Day One, you also have several Veteran Reward slots. Is that what you meant?
  11. I wouldn't argue if it happened, but I don't see it ever doing so.
  12. Oh, oh, yes, I've heard that. That Jack was a little bit shocked that people were doing them straight through and that's not what he had in his head.

Jack has never struck me as a particularly perceptive man when it comes to the player base.
  13. Nuh-UH!

Sorry, it was just too easy to resist. I'll go hang my head in shame now.
  14. Thanks! Where exactly is that from, that I might indulge myself in some larnin' and not embarrass myself spouting nonsense or old info?
  15. If they had CoH already, anyway. Just buying CoV only got you the eight.

    "Separate games" (sic), remember?

    Dr_Mechano tells me something I don't know:

Most Raids are actually designed how Taskforces were originally designed. They don't reset for a full week and once you defeat a boss you're given a specific Raid ID number which means you're locked to that particular instance.
Just curious, when was "originally"? Alpha? Beta? Did it make it to Live like that? First time I've ever heard that.

Nope, haven't noticed. Seems just fine from my perspective.

EDIT: That said, there's nothing wrong with more advertising, especially without a price tag.

The thought crossed my mind that it may have been a function of the Max Particle Count or Bloom, but I was reluctant to say "Turn your settings down!" for just sunsets/sunrise. Your idea has merit.

**has to keep Max Particle Count under 1000 or I can't seen anything when fighting on a team for all the damn glowing powers**

Maybe I'll just move the toon I play the most there away then. High player population is not a huge draw for me if it is at the expense of performance(which I prize most highly).

    Durakken tries again:

You know, the whole, "Nazis would exist without Hitler" thing shows how right I a about the difference between knowledge and understanding, because when I said "Without hitler there would be no Nazis" it would be assumed that you all would understand what I meant is not the exact words that I said.

What I meant is, before Hitler joined the Nazi party and started his propaganda, they were a small political party that no one cared about. Without Hitler Nazis would likely have never became such a big political party or win any election, and likely would either died out or remained small to this day. So in the form that most people know the Nazi Party would not have existed.
And you're still mistaken. It might not be EXACTLY detail for detail, but it would easily have happened in the Big Picture with someone else who was a charismatic speaker and power-hungry nut-job. You view the world too linearly and it just doesn't work like that. The universe is not a pool table, where one influence directly leads to another. It's not a giant tree with branches that extend from a single beginning. It's a massive web of influences from all directions in which sometimes small changes can create huge ones, yet you might change a hundred things and see no change at all. It is far from consistent to the human eye.

    PuceNonagon has variety:

Lots of people handle Stamina in different ways. I usually slot 2 EndRed IOs, a Performance Shifter EndRed and the proc, but if I can afford the slots, I may go with whole sets. Slot the Numina and Miracle uniques in Health. After that, there are several cheap sets that offer some bonuses, Thunderstrike, Cleaving Blow, and some others.
Yup, lots of ways. I've fallen back on laziness and just habitually five or six slot Stamina with appropriate Efficacy Adaptors. I have very little end problems after that, usually only on long protracted battles, and, hey, that's what blue Insps are for.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention that I still slot endurance reduction of some sort in almost every power, too. Just having Stamina alone doesn't eliminate that need.

Yes, as you yourself mention, that's exactly the point. Random number generators generally are not truly random. True randomness is very hard to achieve.
Maybe I don't understand "seeded", but that sounds to me like deliberately making it non-random (making it trend to one thing or another). True randomness is very hard to achieve. But, non-randomness in random number generators is a small statistical anomaly that is almost impossible to detect through usage.
  25. Tips:

Children's heads are much larger in proportion to their bodies than teens or adults. Max the head size sliders (the top ones) out (I forget if the following overrides that or not). Then go to "Shape" under head and choose..."Youthful", IIRC. This will adjust all your head sliders to a more childlike configuration. Adjust for personal preference from there. It doesn't QUITE get you child proportions, but that's as close as it can get. Use one of the child faces, of course.

Body sliders all at minimum, except waist at maximum. If you have a jacket, you may have to adjust waist down. I have no idea why waist at max gives jackets umbrella like bulges.

Smooth tights have been mentioned as a work-around, but yes, covering up "muscular" areas works better. Most of my "children" wear the tights, but I just accept that it's game limited, myself, and hand-wave how bulgy they are.
