Thank you, that does make this a lot easier. I should have my odds posted by afternoon tomorrow. I'll probably accept the bets for the first two weeks of the season.
-
Well, we'll be going until at least 12 PM EST. I don't know when your movie will be done, but you might get back in time.
-
-
And I think I'll be taking bets on which of the rednames will win the Fantasy League.
Bets will be in amounts of 100m influence, odds to come once I've seen the drafts. -
Quote:Unless the scrapper doesn't have a taunt aura, which is certainly the case for a majority of them. I'll give you brutes, and I do enjoy my brute because he can very effectively tank. I just don't team with my brute often because, on a team, I'd enjoy being the tank more.Right, but my point is the same could be said for Brutes or Scrappers. Playing Scrappers or Brutes as pure damage dealers is a purely artificial limitation placed on them solely by the player at the controls.
But just as I don't build a tank with a focus on dealing damage, I don't build the brute to control aggro. The tank deals some damage and the brute controls some aggro. Each focus, and each purpose, seems clear to me. -
You should have stopped here when you basically admitted the analogy was fallacious.
Let's try something much more analogous: You've been going to the same amusement park for years, and you've liked every ride they've ever had.
This year, though, they have a new roller coaster. It's different from anything else, and it turns out to not be your favorite ride. A great number of other people love this ride, so it's kind of crowded. You'll ride it once or twice with your friends, get the T-shirt for riding it, but you still prefer to do the other things in the park. You can still find a partner for any other ride in the park though, so the rest of the park hasn't changed for you.
Just because you don't like the new ride doesn't mean you can't go to the park. -
Quote:There's yet another group: The ones that get to 50 with about four characters and do nothing but play those four characters. These people make heavy use of exemplaring, and even optimize their builds to maintain functionality at all levels. These people join their friends at whatever level they happen to be playing at that day as well as enjoy starting lower level TFs. They get all their incarnate powers by running WTFs and converting shards. You have to remember, rsclark, that there seems to be a non-trivial number of players who do things like stop playing characters in the 30s. I have many times over the years seen the sentiment that it feels like characters don't progress significantly above that level, so getting them there is "good enough". Then there are folks who get stuff to 50, shelf it, and start something new.
Or maybe it's just me. -
Quote:How do incarnate powers affect anything below level 44, where I spend most of my time playing? And I don't get the attitude that treats the trials as if they were just another TF or another contact. They are the end game. They are the future advancement of your character.
You can ignore them only insofar as you are comfortable being effectively a sidekick in the grand scheme of the game.
Their presence does detract from the rest of the game, as it raises the bar on everything. Being a good student in 1st grade becomes less significant when you are working on your doctorate thesis. Changing the scale with which you character is measured does change the perception of the rest of the game.
That was a nice analogy that falls apart in a world where you can go back to 1st grade any time you like. -
I'm going to suggest you attend the party I'm holding this Friday. The whole purpose of the event is to get other people together and give them a chance to build the relationships they want.
My SG is a personal SG for the time being. I'm not against letting other people in, but I just don't feel I offer enough to really recruit people. -
When I play a scrapper or, to a lesser extent, a brute, I feel I have no purpose on the team. Yeah, I kill stuff, but everybody does that. Sure, I stay alive, too, but if I were a tank, my personal survival matters because I serve the purpose of controlling aggro.
-
Quote:The "not debatable" part was actually that you should put end reduction in the upgrade powers, not anything about the attacks.I'll debate it
In general I would not put end in my attacks because in the past if my end got low I could always just sit back and recover and buff my pets (with ends in my buffs). However I do get the point for demons that if you like to spam -res then you would want the ends rather than dmg.

So I go out of town for two weeks and miss an opportunity to rank my favorite ATs. Not that any of this will be unexpected, but hey, here goes nothing:
1. MFing Warshades
2. MFing Warshades
3. MFing Warshades - Honestly, I cannot possibly express how drastic the difference is between the amount of fun I get playing a warshade to playing anything else.
4. Bots/Traps - It's like a mastermind, but really is its own AT because of how unfair it feels.
5. Tank - It's the only melee AT that actually serves a purpose on a team. Yeah, the others kill stuff well and survive ok, but they don't have purpose.
6. Masterminds - All those other combinations that aren't bots/traps. I like being a team all my own.
Everything else afterwards doesn't matter to me. Defenders/corruptors/controllers are the best thing to have on the team, but I don't exactly enjoy them. -
Quote:And I still can't understand where this attitude comes from. The trials got boring for me, too, but they didn't take anything away from the rest of the game I love.I used to love this game. When incarnate came out i just stopped playing. It is a mindless, brainless, and tedious slog. Worse, like the OP has accurately pointed out, it ruined the rest of the game thoroughly.
Sorry. i'm not 17 anymore, i can't spent days playing this game without sleep, and i don't feel like grinding the same trials over and over again for ******* incarnate junk.
this isn't working for me at all. i stopped playing in may, and i've not once logged in since.
Probably won't ever again (first time taking a peak at the forums since may). the only reason i came back was to stop them taking my monthly fee out of my account; and while i was here i decided to poke my head into the forums. -
I agree with most of the advice I've seen in this thread. I've got a few comments to make, though.
I would leave the Nova AoE powers six slotted, but I'd remove the Damage/Range IO and replace it with a common recharge. Positron's Blast is notoriously light on recharge.
Gravity Well is a great place to get the 7.5% recharge from Basilisks, yes, but it would do well to have some damage. The good news is that if you can spare two slots from anywhere, you'll be able to almost ED cap the damage of this power.
Dwarf Mire could benefit from some damage enhancement and so could Dwarf Drain, if you can spare the slots. Drain actually does more damage than Strike, although you'll get better DPS using Strike because it animates much faster.
Quote:This is the gospel freaking truth right here. My 'shade spent years without stamina at all. Health and Stamina are just gravy. I wouldn't ever suggest adding slots to those powers, as you can almost always get more out of them from somewhere else.3. Some may scoff but I don't think you really need that Miracle +recovery unique. If you have it, use it, but don't spend influence on one. If you want a unique in that spot, consider a Regenerative Tissue +regen instead. Ditto the four-slotted Stamina. Two is plenty (I only use one.) -
Quote:(( This is going to be a huge help! I'm still not sure it'll always be enough. The last open event I attended had more than 21 people, so I still have positions open for people to host teams in my base.(( Apologies not much of an RPer, I read sig and got here. Can dual box my accounts and sit in while I sleep. Would love to be there in person but well I work at night and that's about when I sleep. So if you can login early that day and start the league I can use a toon on each account so you gain 14 spots to let people on. Of course you yourself would have to stay logged in so you can access my team spots but well I'm sure you can come up with something. ))
Thanks much! )) -

N-N-N-N-N-NECRO POST!!!
Also, IBTL. -
Party is this Friday! It had been moved from its original date but I forgot to update this pointer thread until now. Hope to see many of you there.
I'm also looking for a few "paid" IC helpers: anyone willing to pose as a doctor, researcher, or wait staff for the corporation as well as lead a team for base access. These positions would probably be best if its a second account of yours you can dual box and leave the character inactive but doing a continuous emote. I'd pay 20m influence per hour per character for this purpose. -
(( Alright everybody, the event is this Friday! Hope to see many of you here!
I still need people willing to help me out by becoming a temporary SG member and leading a team so more people can access the base. That's as much involvement as you'd need, because I could use the League Interface to move people around in your team.
If you know several people from your own Supergroup would like to attend, I can offer a temporary coalition to allow all of you access to the base.

The packs are not attached any looser in i21 than they are now.

For what it's worth, I've taken a Petless Mastermind on the team with me on an MoSTF. We succeeded, but I won't say it was easy.
Fifth rule: Any build, any budget, no exclusions. -
((Possibly bad news, everyone. I've just been notified that I will have to make a business trip this week which will make it impossible for me to host the event as originally planned.
I have postponed the event until the following Friday. I hope this does not prevent anyone from attending. If a large amount of feedback from this is "no, we can't make it," then I will reschedule again. I would like to have kept this event on a Saturday night, but I'll be seeing Kamelot in Toronto on the 3rd. There's no way in hell I'm missing that.
Please help me spread the word that this event has been postponed.)) -

Mr. Lane,
I don't want to sound overconfident, but provided you have a sample of said medication it should not be very difficult at all to break it down and replicate the formula. How much of this medication do you have left? Is it year's worth? A month's?
Regardless, I think my grand opening would be an excellent time for you to come and see the facilities and what tools I have available.
