Quote:EDITED: I originally read that you asked about panacea. Not sure how I read that. Panacea procs and gives everyone in the area chance for heal and +end.I wouldn't mind if they added a +recovery component to TB. Speaking of which if you add a Numina's proc to it will it go off on you and others or does it just have a chance to go off when you set the device up?
Miracle/Numina uniques only grant the global +recovery to you. -
Quote:QFMFTi always chuckle when i see a tank abandoning a big crowd he's got packed around him to chase a lone mob running towards my controller, as if i'm even in the slightest danger. Competent players know how to manage their own aggro, and if they don't, they need to learn anyway.
EDIT: What's with this bug that won't let me capitalize letters? -
Quote:And I was the one to start it!Actually, I thought it was going quite well. We seem to have found some common ground...
The French...
Yes yes, go ahead. Scroll back up and look. You'll find me there.
I can't stand the French, don't get my started, we'll be here all day.
Oh to hell with it, I'll get started myself.
The French have incredible engineers. Truly, the rear-view mechanism in their tanks is impeccable. How else would they see the battle? -
Quote:Um, slit is not censored. I use it on my stalker for said phrase. Something else that ends in -lit is.The censors really are messed up, not just in-forum, but in-game, too.
A buddy of mine once ran into a Knife of Artemis that said something like "I'll slit his throat" or whatever, and naturally that nice four-letter word was censored because apparently it can refer to female genitalia or something. Best part is that I only found about this AFTER I heard about that word being censored.
The censor even strikes the game's own dialogue. If that's not a sign of going overboard, I don't know what is. -
Opinionated post to follow:
Take Mu for the bots/ff. It's pretty, and -KB immob is a bonus.
Thugs/Poison? Viper in a top hat? I'm thinking either Ghost Widow or Mako would be good thematic fits. -
Quote:Considering that I've routinely mentioned things I've seen on the forums in game and many players respond:161,431 is the number of registered Forum members! 161,431!! So perhaps CoX has more than 200K paying subscribers already?
LOL sorry, it's 161432 now!
"CoX Forums?"
Yes, we may be over 200k players.
But also keep in mind that once you register on the forum, you stay. Even if you stop paying/playing. -
Quote:I'm still with you. Honestly, though, I don't play scrappers, so talking to me isn't really... well, you're just not talking to a scrapper who does these things. I'm only speaking from a "I've worked with scrappers" perspective. You know, sometimes the rest of the team doesn't really find mopping up the dregs exciting either. Scrappers are damage-dealers -- why can't the Controllers run off to control the new spawn, supported of course by the Defenders, and leave the Scrapper(s) to finish off the minions with superior Scrapper Damage? After all, there's no point in Controlling or Tanking a few minions if there's no point in Scrapping them, is there?
I'm just illustrating that leaving the other players to take care of business (from which you will receive exp and drops) because you can't be bothered or you are "too good for it" or you are bored comes across as just a little childish and egotistical. Meanwhile, sure, your Scrapper can engage three bosses in the next spawn, but so can a Controller that's built right, or some Defenders, or ANY Tanker.
And there's a point to controlling or tanking a new spawn, unlike the leftover minions of the old spawn, which the team really only needs to...well, to damage. And damage is a Scrapper thing. So maybe you should be the one to stay behind and mop up, if we're assigning roles to the other players.
It may not be right for the bored scrapper to run off. Regardless, you have to admit is is more efficient for the blasters and defenders and controllers to "mop up" because the mobs tend to scatter at that point.
You mention that the scrapper leaving the others behind is unfair because he'll still get drops and exp for the "mop up." However, the scrapper is more than likely taking down three bosses and many minions on his own, sharing that exp and those drops. He does this knowingly and doesn't expect more reward for it.
Finally, the defender or controller or tanker with the right build that can also take on three bosses will not kill them nearly as fast as a comparably built scrapper. -
Seriously, I love the bag of tricks I tote around with my claws/ninja stalker. He's only level 27 at this point, but I'm still having a great time.
I've got high positional defenses all around. I don't care what's attacking me as long as it's not a certain few "position-less" psionic attacks.
I can heal! Well, I can't heal you, but I can heal me. Holy hell, I feel like a /regen/SR at the same time. Seems to me that it's healing me ~50% of my HP too!
Clicky mez resist is perma with only two SO's worth of recharge. Further über.
I haven't picked up proctrops yet, but I can imagine it'll be just as amazing as it is on my /traps MM. I know I only put 5 procs in because I wanted at least one recharge reduc...
Oh! And claws gets a ranged knockdown attack! No escape! Assassin strike, focus someone else, build up and kill a third poor soul before the second guy gets up...
I can't wait for blinding powder. I hear it gets pretty incredible with the contagious confusion proc.
Eventually there's a godmode power and I'm going to pick up shadow meld for a crashless godmode. Hell, I may even be able to softcap defenses without too much effort anyway.
midointhisrite?
Is life really this easy? -
I am by no means an expert on IO's and builds, but I would go for the BoTZ rather than time/space manipulation for the awesome defense bonuses.
MM's in general prefer frankenslotting to actual set bonuses in pets. Especially because you want the unique +def and +res auras. You should slot the two recharge intensive pet damage bonuses into soul extraction, since that's the only place they go. For the regular pet damage auras, put one on your zombies and the other on the grave knights. Frankenslot the zombies to ED cap acc and damage. Frankenslot Grave Knights to ED cap damage, get a little accuracy, and throw in an acchillies heel proc. This will give all your pets a 10% base defense and 20% base resist to everything all the time.
EDIT: Forgot to add: Don't worry about getting damage/accuracy set bonuses; they only apply to you, and you don't attack. Go for defense/resist when you can, becuase you want to take the aggro and survive. Since bodyguard with 6 pets is effective 75% resist, anything more compunds amazingly well, and getting hit less often is always good. -

Quote:Pretty much this.Actually, try the other games. Try them. I've tried my share of other games after playing this one. Even the dreaded WoW. All that did was make me realize just how good this one is by comparison. This game has ruined me forever--all other games just seem lame for one reason or another. Some games have really good features, but they almost all have inevitable holes that this game doesn't have. This is the only game that I've played that gets it right EVERYWHERE AT ONCE. And unless it starts looking more like those other games, I'll be here until they pull the plug--hopefully many, many years down the road.

Quote:Good question! Stamina is not mandatory on most MM's, but on a /pain... kinda yeah.Ok cool, any suggestions for pool powers? I figure Stamina is a must have on any character, but are there any others?
Unless you get the miracle/numina uniques in your supress pain toggle. Then you're golden.
Travel: I almost invariably go with fly. With the new i16 benefit of pets zoning with you, you might even want to pick up group fly or team teleport (I know I will). Trick with group fly: "follow" your pet and use goto command so no pets drop out of fly range.
Leadership is usually very nice for MM's. I'd take assault and tactics. Fully slotted maneuvers will only give about 5% defense.
Presence: Get provoke so you can grab tons of aggro. You want the enemies hitting you, not your pets. You share damage in BG mode, and it becomes incredibly easy for you to stay alive with /pain.
I don't tend to take any other pools myself. -
-
I started a necro/pain not too long ago. I didn't get very high level with it because I got frustrated running my umpteenth mastermind into the brick wall that the devs call scrapyarders.
I can tell you that it's a great combo. You dish out some very high damage in melee, and the /pain later buffs are awesome (I've worked with people that had these buffs... my bots were raining ungodly more destruction than normal). You'll be able to solo very well, (be sure to drop painbringer on your grave knights, not the lich, slot lich for control) and teams will love having you around too.
EDIT: In regards to skippable/must have powers: Personal attacks on a MM are near pointless after level 24, and only marginally effective before that. You'll probably end up grabbing every power from /pain and only skipping personal attacks of necro/
Finally, USE BODYGUARD MODE. -

Hahaha! He thinks we know! He thinks the devs will tell us!

Quote:Hey now, easy on the devs. It's still not confirmed that they are keeping us out of the character creator. Before you go DOOOOOOOM on us, wait and see.Well I'm upset, 'cause the reason I resubbed was centered around beta. I figured I'd get to at least login to character creator when it came out. But I guess It's my fault for assuming they'd run closed beta the same way they have for a long time?
Even so, this whole issue is centered around the character creator. What would be the point of a closed beta if you could see everything anyway?
EDIT: It's been confirmed that you can't play with the character creator if you haven't been invited. Oh well, that's the whole thing they're testing anyway! Closed beta people can't tell you that they're in the closed beta and can't give any information out because of how buggy things could be. By letting anyone play with the new character creator, it would defeat the purpose of a closed beta.
So go somewhere else with your Dev Defender Nerdrage. -
I don't care whether I can play with the new shiny ahead of time or not.
I'm amazingly happy that this is already in closed beta! -
Quote:Alright, I'm with you here. If it's a group of squishies and a scrapper who leaves before the current mob is well within manageable size then there is a problem.Perhaps I chose my wording poorly. My intention was to convey that the main body of the team at times cannot afford their scrappers to go and let loose their inner soloer in the middle of a task force.
Generally though, if a scrapper goes off into solo "scrapperlock" mode, he's doing it because the spawn the group is currently mopping up is too boring. The group should be able to handle itself when there's only a few minions to deal with while the scrapper tries to get himself killed on the next spawn with three bosses. -
Quote:Maybe I missed it, but where did BillZBubba ask for support?Everyone plays their characters differently, and all team dynamics work differently. I am a a Villain player 95% of the time. Co-op task forces obviously create opportunities for my regular, habitual villain teams to come into contact with hero ATs (We've all got them, mind, we're not allergic to heroes). This, more often than not, results in interaction with scrappers, in the same was as some brutes, who consider it acceptable to launch ahead and aggro whatever they like regardless of what the body of the team is doing.
Most of the time, the teams are "tank"less, maybe the odd brute, but no tank is present, I find them to be the most redundant archetype. The rule of "Squishies have Daddy Tank" is flawed, as not every team runs as you described: not every team can facilitate and support to full efficiency, a rogue melee AT. -
Seriously, I'm right there with you on this, except that I rolled a claws/nin.
I can't fit in a travel power until level 30 either because I need stamina to keep up with most teams. Once I slot some sets that come with end reduc, I should be fine. Until then, I don't want to sacrifice slots for it. -
Hey, I'm not so sure about all this, but closed beta means that the training room is only available for certain people?
