Keep in mind it's still 7:40 AM over there. I'll bet they don't even get to work until 8 or maybe 9.

I've got a bots/traps that does this. I don't have scorpion shield, but I am softcapped to ranged/AoE and damned close at melee.

I also skipped stamina. That's because I wanted every single traps power, teleportation, hasten, provoke, and the three leadership toggles. With all that running, I still never run out of endurance because I have more end recovery from bonuses than a fully slotted stamina gives me.

Then there's the l33tkid section of players who think just because they can aggro the whole room means they can also take on the whole room and stay alive, and if they can't it's the defender's fault because they failed at the holy trinity of TANK/HEAL/DPS!
    Agreed, and thank you DSorrow.

I may have less hitpoints than any other AT, but damned if I'm squishy. I know what I can handle, and if I can't, there's always wakies. I figure the important part is not to endanger the team by bringing back more aggro than they can handle. Nothing sucks harder than a scrapper running back to the team at the aggro cap screaming "HEAL ME PLZ!" If you bit off more than you can chew, swallow or choke, don't puke on us.

I've also never yelled at a healer for letting me die.

That's what scrappers excel at (paralleled by brutes) they can handle most anything thrown at them with aplomb.

I've had Empaths tell me "When you die I'm not coming to get you."
My response was "When YOU die...I'll come back and give you a wakie."
I do this quite often too, on my MM.

The empath said "I can't keep you alive if you're not with the team."

Posi: It'll be out by the end of the month.
Eight of our issues came out on Tuesdays.
Unscheduled maintenance starts today with a "five hour window."
EDIT: And now I'm applying a patch!
    It's coming!

Unless of course the servers crap out and they have to revert... which is precisely the reason they do issue updates unannounced. Could you imagine the backlash?

    "i16 goes up tomorrow."
"Oh, we had a problem with it... it'll have to wait a week."
    NERDRAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!

In all likelihood, it would be "i16 goes up tomorrow." and then it does without problem. But it's not worth the risk.

No, it'll be nothing special because of the bugs.

BUT - On an ITF... now the ambush once you go into the last mission doesn't faceplant you. Walk out of a mission into an ambush? Hey! I'm not dead!

Bounce around doing paper missions at -1/x8 and don't have to resummon every mission? FTW!

This is a really nice QoL enhancement for us.
  13. Just got the [Admin] message that servers are going down in 10 minutes for a window of five hours!

    I16! w000000000000000000000000t!

But now I have to go to work...

    EDIT TO ADD: I'm PATCHING!!!

    Raaaaaage!

Doh! Your search-fu is stronger than my search-fu.

Actually, I admit I didn't even bother to search. I mostly wanted to talk about how fun SS was, but did have that little question I figured I should add while I'm making a topic.

EDIT TO ADD: How about a real question then. How much recharge can you get into a SS/WP? Could it get triple stacked rage? Could it get an attack chain on the order of Haymaker -> Footstomp -> Haymaker -> KO Blow -> Haymaker... etc?
  16. Dechs Kaison

    Raaaaaage!

No I'm not raging at anything in particular, I just like the power. In fact, I like the whole set. A lot.

I rolled a SS/WP, and I was impressed from the beginning. Firstly, it just feels so ... SUPER. I know it's been said before, but for animations that aren't flashy, the set just feels powerful. I think it's the sounds.

    zzzzzzzzz...BOOM!

I definitely had more fun with this set than I've had with anything else. I would find myself zooming out and rotating my camera just to watch my brute smash things.

RttC was a game-changer... it seemed the only thing that could slow me down was a lack of blues. I really hated fighting Mu, but anything else was a cakewalk so long as I converted everything to blue insps.

Then I found what could be the best power in the game. Rage. With just one level 20 IO it was up for 2/3rds of the time. I only have one damage enhancement in my powers and I can still one shot minions with KO blow (granted, it's overkill). Punch, KO blow... LT is down. Punch, Haymaker... minion down. Oh, KO blow is up... one less minion. NEXT GROUP! I was level 23 before I knew what happened.

So on to the point of the thread (yeah, I like to type and I'm a bit dramatic), how do you deal with the rage crash? So far, I just leave it on auto and fight through the crash. I'm still knocking down, mitigating damage, and maintaining fury, though I admit to "saving" KO Blow until the crash is over.

And is there an optimal recharge time for Rage? If it recharges exactly as fast as it wears off, some of the second rage is made useless because of the first one's crash. One crash every two minutes is annoying, but certainly manageable.

If it recharges faster than it wears off, you start getting more crashes, but you also get stacked rages. What if you could get the recharge down to exactly one minute? After the first minute, you would be permanently at 160% damage bonus. The problem is that now you are dealing with a crash every minute. Is it possible, and more importantly, is it worth it?

If it is possible, lets go wild and assume you could get it tripple stacked. Does this put you over the damage cap with fury? Would it be worth how often crashes happen?

This isn't getting into individual powerset balance or IOs, just my opinion on the mechanics.
I think I can agree with this.

To-hit buffs aren't exactly common, but a 10% tohit buff pretty much ruins a softcapped defense build. Read my guide and look at the difference between a 35% defense and 45% defense case.

Defense debuffs are rampant. Everyone has them, and defense doesn't resist defense debuff. So blasters that are softcapped with no resistance to debuff will suffer from cascading defensive failure very quickly.

Resistance debuffs are quite rare. On top of that, though, is the fact that resistance resists resist debuffs. So on the occasion that you run into an enemy with resist debuff, you already have a way to resist it.

I'd also like to echo that even a softcapped defense runs into the occasional two shot. Just remember, the random number generator hates you and this will happen. Resistance based sets don't have to worry about a lucky enemy. They know exactly how long they can last.

This seems to be the general feel of the thread. His heals were doing something, but I have to ask, how much "required healing" could be prevented if he helped to kill things faster in the first place?

I agree, I'm no one to tell anyone how to play. If he has fun, I'm going to let him do it. I wasn't complaining or asking him to be kicked. I'm just commenting on the fact that, like a petless MM, he completely avoided the purpose of the AT and didn't contribute nearly as much as he could to the team.

EDIT TO ADD: I'm not a build nazi by any means. I don't get frustrated when someone skips a good power or two for concept or whatever reason. I don't get angry when I see an MM using personal attacks because it may not be "optimal." I've done both of those myself. The point is there's a difference between that and avoiding the primary purpose of your AT entirely.

If you were on a team with a petless MM, would you still feel the same way? Not a wasted spot on the team? Let him play the way he wants?

What about a tank without any armors? Not a single armor, and just attacks?
  21. The AT system is what allows this game to create balance. Either the alpha or the beta of this game was very much like your suggestion, but there were only two things that happened.

People picked a ranged primary and a self defense secondary, or a self defense primary and a ranged secondary. You become self sufficient and capable of laying waste on a large scale. It destroys the needs for teams, thus support roles go away.

Look at That Other Game. This is how it functions, and there are no teams. Everyone is a scrapper.

Any builds, suggestions or help would all be appreciated.

I am pretty set on Necro / Dark, I am open to different patron epics but at the moment Soul has my vote..........

    ty in advance.
I'm going to tell you pretty much the same thing I tell anyone about building a good mastermind.

Don't take your personal attacks, they won't do enough to matter, with the possible exception of drain life slotted and used as a heal. I don't think anything in /dark is worth skipping. It's a very powerful set. Pool powers: You have a heal, so medicine isn't that useful. Dark is a bit end heavy, so stamina can help a lot. If you're going to PvP, then you NEED challenge. Anyone who knows how to take out an MM knows to drop the pets first, then shred the MM without his precious bodyguard mode. Challenge keeps them on you and allows your pets to beat mercilessly on him. Anyone who doesn't know to kill off the pets... well, you don't have to worry about those kind of people.

Slotting: The most important thing to remember when slotting, and I can't stress this enough, don't go for set bonuses. They don't help you, since they only apply to you and not your pets. Frankenslot everything to ED cap as much as you can. Zombies should be acc/damage capped, especially acc since they are -2 level to you. You should have room here for one of the unique +def or +res, maybe both if you frankenslot the purple set in there too. Grave knights are similar, go for acc/damage first, then be sure to throw in an achillies heel -res proc. Also, fit the other unique if you couldn't in zombies. Some to-hit debuff might also be nice, but not necessary. Lich is all over the place, depending on what you want him to do. You don't need to be as heavy on the acc, put some damage in there, but I really suggest enhancing hold and to-hit debuff. Use soul extraction to fit the recharge kind of +def and +res uniques. I'd slot fluffy for recharge, accuracy, tohit debuff, and heal.
