Quote:My bots/traps is softcapped to ranged and AoE. My pets are doing the fighting, but I'm doing the taunting and getting hit.IIRC BG requires line-of-sight to work (henchmen have to see you). Still, I've seen quite a few softcap guides which take stealth to cap their defences. Without BG, its your pets that do the dirty work, so why need to softcap your defences and not that of your pets in the first place? Am i missing sth here
?

The existing +recharge proc isn't doing anything for you. All pets are not affected by recharge buffs/debuffs.
The soulbound proc is incredible in Assbot. It has a chance to build up every time it attacks for every target it hits. I've seen the thing double and tripple stacked. Good $deity the big orange numbers. -
Quote:Bots/Traps.Irrelevant. The entire point of these tankmage wannabe threads is to be dominant against all possible outcomes.
Take all pet/upgrade powers, maneuvers, FFG, and get the pet defense IO.
All other slotting/powers is superfluous.
This topic is now over. -
Quote:I think the only problem you had with my comments was the "even then, he can only half tank." Nothing else I said was contradictory to what you've presented. Actually, what you said enforces my point that you can't expect a PB to tank unless he stays in dwarf form.I take exception to these comments. A White Dwarf, with just minimal SO slotting, can tank all but the most difficult AVs in the game (LR and GW, imho), and I'd be surprised if there wasn't a purple'd out fully slotted White Dwarf out there who hadn't tanked both of those as well. From 20 to the early 30s, a PB is on par with your average pure tanker. White Dwarf has all the essential tools: taunt, AoE, self-heal, its only problem is that it really only has access to 6 or so powers (accolades can be triggered while in dwarf, some anyway). I've personally tanked everything but the STF.
Generally, if a team is looking for a tank, the leader doesn't scan for PBs. I have never, while playing my PB, been asked if I had dwarf form because the team needed a tank. I haven't ever been on a team that felt they needed a tank and got a PB who would dwarf the whole time. Anecdotal evidence, I know.
As for a dwarf only half tanking: This was bad wording on my part. Yes, a dwarf can hold aggro as well as any tank, but its survivability and damage output is much less than a comparable tank. A dwarf is capped at around 60% resist and has one self heal. Fire tanks (arguably the least survivable) have a similar heal, comparable resists, but they can take tough/weave and combat jumping.
Quote:It seems to me your human only build has blinded you to the capabilities of your Dwarf cousins...
It is also occasionally called to tank for a short while, and does so begrudgingly.
Quote:I would take a PB with Dwarf over a tauntless WP tanker anyday, and twice on tanker-tuesdays
If you want a tank, get a tank. If you want a truly versatile character, able to unleash a vast assortment of death or handle a metric ton of aggro as the situation needs, get a PB.
I couldn't agree more with these statements. -
He's got a stalker. Assassin striking can cause nearby foes to become feared as well.

Quote:Sounds to me like you don't know about the shift+click teleport bind.Teleport: Anywhere in game.
Teleport is such a cool power, but to use it as your primary travel power sure is tricky...
/bind shift+lbutton powexecname teleport
Hold shift, and teleport to wherever you click! -

This cannot be true. There is a hard cap to speed. Super Speed can reach the hard cap. The best Ninja Run and Siphon Speed can do is match it.
-
Oh, good point. You know, even Super Jump is pretty limited here. Not many of the islands are within jumping distance of each other...

You're going to love PBs. My PB is all human, and he plays like a /regen blapper. Open up with a ranged salvo then charge in with the pet-bombs and scrap it up, switching back to ranged to finish off the stuff I sent flying in all directions.
Really, you've got it all. You have ranged/melee single target/AoE attacks like a blaster, but you've got shields and self heals to stay alive. Hell, even a godmode power, complete with mez protection.
Anyway, you had specific questions...
Quote:1) If I dont pick up White Dwarf form am I selling myself short? Also will teams invite me and be disappointed when they realize that I don't tank?
Generally, if a team wants a tank, they don't look for PBs.
Quote:2) If I do just pick Nova what types of powers should I choose for human form?
I like Proton Scatter and Solar Flare. A lot. Slotted the -res proc in them to help my damage out.
Photon Seekers are an excellent demi-nuke.
Basically, use Nova if your team can keep you alive with buffs / enemy debuffs and all you have to worry about is damage output. Human form will be more resilient and allow you to take a few more risks.
And nothing says you have to stay in one form all the time. Just one example: Nova form in, guns blazing and attention grabbing, then shift to dwarf when you get mezzed, heal once, go to human to heal again, build up incandescent strike something, essence boost and go back to nova.
Remember, tanking is more than taking alphas. It's all about keeping aggro controlled, clustering groups to leverage your teams AoEs, and staying alive. With that said, there is no way a team can expect a PB to tank unless he stays in dwarf form all the time, and even then he can only half-tank.
I play my human form PB is like a blaster with scrapperlock. I usually beat the tank to the spawns to dish out as much damage and create as much chaos as I can. Just because I'm the first one in, does not mean I'm tanking.
Quote:4) Please share any tips and tricks that you think weren't covered in the guides for Peacebringers especially dual form Peacebringers.
I hope I've helped. Good luck, and have fun. -
Travel powers are not created equal. Neither are the zones. Some travel powers are more useful in certain zones. Some zones cripple one or more travel powers.
What do you guys think is the worst place to have each travel power?
My thoughts:
Super Speed: Quite a few bad zones here, but I'm going to say Terra Volta is the worst.
Super Jump: There's no really bad zone for Super Jump that I can think of, but Steel Canyon is probably its worst. The tall buildings confine you to Super Speed paths, but you're slower than the speedster.
Flight: Nerva. Let's face it, the mission door is on the other side of the zone and you're debating using the mission transporter instead of flying the whole way.
Teleport: Dark Astoria. Nothing cripples teleport's mobility like tall buildings you can't see. -
Oh, I've spotted the Ultra Fail alright...

Quote:This is not correct. Anything attacking a player, including another player, has a base 50% chance to hit.no npcs hit chance is 50% so 45% def works good, real players hit chance is 75% plus they have stuff slotted into attacks for accuracy plus accuracy set bonues and to-hit bonuses. Defence isnt the greatest for pvp to say the least.
Any player attacking a critter has a base 75% chance to hit.
Any critter attacking anything has a base 50% chance to hit.

Quote:What? And "Hey, you're 50, go ahead and slot your purples." isn't enough for you? That said, maybe this is a good chance to revamp what happens at 50. As it is, you unlock EATs, and it's otherwise pretty anticlimactic. Especially when you already have them unlocked. It's like: "Hey, you're 50! Have some slots. What do you want, a medal? Get back to work, slacker!" It would be nice to have some kind of shiny for 50. Maybe merits or something, enough for a free recipe roll. Just something nice to make the big 5-0 somewhat less anticlimactic.

Quote:Yes. Golden Girl, and Golden Girl alone, is enough reason for me to not support the resistance. I abhor that kind of ignorant zealotry.I shudder at the thought of all the rights and freedoms that have been curtailed because of someone's idea of "normal human morality."
Before this thread, I was planning to support the resistance. But no more! All hail Tyrant's popular and benevolent regime!
I'm not falling for Tyrant's tricks either. I'll work for whoever pays best, morality be damned. -
I have nothing else to add to this thread that hasn't already been stated. I don't see a problem with lowering the "level gate."
I would like to mention, however, that my new favorite insult will be to call someone a jacktard. -
I personally like the idea. Like the devs said a long time ago, making "unlock at 50" ATs was a mistake. Since the VEATs must bypass the tutorial, it makes sense to make these unlockables, just not at such a high level.
I feel you shouldn't have to suffer through a grind just to play an AT you think is interesting. There are still six year vets who don't have level 50s.
I feel "unlock at 50" sets the "epic" to mean "better than anything else" instead of "tied into lore." Less people will misunderstand this with a lower unlock threshold.

Read what I quoted. He said that kheldians didn't need any power pools.
-
I don't think stamina is ever necessary. Depending on your playstyle, character's abilities, how you slot powers, and common teammates, it can range from very helpful to a wasted power. I have some characters that take it and some that don't. Out of the pool powers, though, it offers one of the best benefits.
If you take hasten, you more than likely need stamina.
I admit that I take stamina on more characters than I don't. I like to be independently able to go full bore all the time. Oddly, the only two characters I have at level 50 do not have stamina: A warshade and a mastermind. -
-
So I'm guessing that you were somehow ignorant to the fact that you actually posted this in the City Life forum, and that your thread was forcefully moved to the Suggestions and Ideas forum?

Quote:I have superspeed and shadow cloak to stealth on TFs. Yes, it works perfectly. No, I do not need more stealth effect. I've never used the concealment powers I've picked, and they don't even sit in any of my trays. Why does a Warshade need more stealth powers it has Shadow Cloak already. If it's not good enough drop some Stealth IOs in there or get super speed that has a stealth effect as well.
He beat me to it. Shadow Cloak takes one, Combat Jumping takes another. I needed three more powers that could fit LotGs. Concealment pool!
I know what you mean when you say you want more slots. When building my warshade, I specifically looked for powers I could take that didn't need any slots. Concealment powers, combat jumping, and even superspeed all fit the bill. -
Quote:*Ahem*I hear that! The noise, I mean. Very annoying! Only one of my characters has TP, and I think they will be the only one, useful, but ultimately annoying in many ways!

Quote:I think the distance should be set to how much Endurance you have, so for example it takes 10 End to go 100yds (these are figures I'm pulling out my a*s, not sure what the actual cost is), you can travel the whole map (clicking the loc on map menu) and if you have enough End, say 1 mile = 1000 End, it drains that amount. Save having to spam accross the sky and inevitably hit a wall and fall 50 stories!
