No no, they specifically said that heroes who become villains will have to chose Patron Powers.

True enough, but it happened to be the best example I could think of. Although, in my defense, the power in empathy is called resurrect, with the description text "Resurrects a fallen ally." Doesn't look like smelling salts to me.

Your statement would be valid, except it's not a limit of imagination.

If I imagine my character to find reanimation/resurrection morally objectionable, nothing can reconcile that.

If Father Xmas imagines his character to be only capable of shifting luck and not granting power, nothing can reconcile that.

Either I wasn't clear enough, or you stopped reading where you stopped quoting. When I do as you are suggesting, the "true" character ends up better for the team than the "cheap frankenslot team build."

Not to mention that the concept build is still more fun.

Well, not really, but in my opinion, it's too expensive for too small of a benefit. I generally have enough influence/merits to IO out one build on a character, and given the choice, I'll do it for my concept build. Most of the time, that means even a "team friendly" version would be worse for the team than the IO'd concept build where I skipped hasten, the rez, SB, or whatever else we're quibbling about.

No no no, one step at a time. One 50 of each powerset for each AT, e.g. you could have a fire/SD scrapper and not have to roll an elec/SD.

The character can believe that it's immoral to use a lifeless body in that manner, which is also the reason said character cannot perform a "restore to life" ability. Moral objection.

Also, which rez power allows you to control the player you rezzed?

That's not true. If your character's concept cannot bring people back from the dead (or near death), then I don't care how you color it. It won't fit the theme.

Another good example I can think of is my all human peacebringer. He is a kheldian merged with a photo-electric AI with a robotic shell around it. Since the object he merged with is non-organic, he cannot leave this robotic shell without dire consequences (No shapeshifts, but lightform is ok because of the time limit and crash).

I have rationalized though. I've got an AR/EM who's not supposed to be super at all. A few of the EM attacks I took as "martial arts training."

Plus if your tri-form you are short on enhancement slots too. So I find I have to look at power choices also in terms of "How many slots will this require?"

As such all but 1 Dwarf power has only the default slot. Many human form powers too only have the default slot as well.
This is our disconnect right here. I have most of the dwarf powers five slotted, mire is six. Nova looks very similar. It's likely that I spend much less time in human form than you do.

I occasionally Gravity Well a pesky enemy or Gravatic Emanation a group, rarely I end up using an Unchain Essence, but usually, the only time I spend in human is to eclipse, mire, summon a fluffy and stygian circle.

As such, there's a lot of human form powers I won't get to use, so they might as well be set mules.
  12. Gah, this was my take on the original. It's a bit outdated now, but I found a way to fit slots into CoD to get the most defense out of it you can. The BotZ wont' be providing as much as you think, so I got rid of one set and replaced it with Karma KB protect.

As Square One said, you're misunderstanding the phrase "Slot starved."

As a TriFormShade, I don't have many slots to spread around. That means at least five of my power picks will be "slotless." A power without slots is a power I don't plan to use often/ever. Since they come with the initial slot, they might as well be set mules.
  16. Until we know what ATs get what new Epic/Patron Pools, there's not much Mids can do at this point without fear of being erroneous.

I can't imagine all the possibilities this opens up though... scrappers and tanks summoning pets!

Exactly my thoughts. And I'd rather layer defense on top of heavy resistance than just finish softcapping a defensive set.

I think it's a lot of fun. As opposed to a stone, I like being able to move around freely while all my mitigation is running and not having to worry about psi damage. Sure I don't have a godmode built in, but the only times I've ever needed one, Eye of the Magus seemed like enough.

I think DA/WM would be a nice combo with good synergy. I don't run OG because I don't have anything to stack with it, but I'm sure it'd be tremendous with the WM. Chasing dazed enemies is not something you should worry about. They've been taunted, and they will come back.

You're missing the point. This isn't about me. It's wrong to be that picky with powersets, period. Not wrong to kick, wrong to discriminate based on your opinion of ideal. The game isn't that hard.

On my TFs? It's probably because I didn't ask what his powersets were (or his AT for that matter).

Tokyo admits he would refuse to invite a kin without SB. I doubt he asks every time whether the person has it, so when he finds out they don't, it's likely they get a kick. In my eyes this is wrong, and I won't stay on a team that's run in this manner. We may disagree what a team mentality really is, but I assure you it's not creating a sense of fear that the leader will kick for opinionated whims.

But I have to admit, it's bad practice to advertise as a kin if you don't have SB. As I've already established, I won't care, but far too many people do. You're much better off saying "Defender" or "illusion controller," especially when someone's requesting a kin.

Fair enough, but you have to accept the same.

Someone else doesn't find being an SB buffbot as a fun thing to do. Who are you to dictate what powers he or she should have? The player can still contribute to the team effort with the other powers they have chosen to have fun with.

I'm sorry that my MM runs ITFs in character. He can solo the damn thing, so he doesn't care what the rest of the "team" does. Especially with villains on the team anyway, the most efficient team is 8 people soloing.

I've led successful MoSTFs and MoKahns with incredibly less than optimal teams. The MoKahn's have all been under an hour long. I certainly know what a team mentality is, but I also know when it's necessary. This is a game, we're here to have fun, and that's my number one rule.

If someone doesn't take SB because they don't want to hear "SB please" every 2 minutes from seven teammates, that's plenty fine by me. If someone decides to solo the AV with your defender on a run of the mill TF, that's plenty fine by me. Kudos if he can actually do it.

If someone decides to solo a group of enemies on an Mo run with his scrapper, even though he's sure he can handle it, that will upset me.

Team mentality means we work together and get things done. It doesn't mean we have to SB Tokyo every time he cries for buffs.

  24. Don't forget that to steal aggro, you have to generate twice as much threat as whatever already has the aggro.

A shield scrapper who starts laying down some heavy damage before you taunt can be very difficult to get the aggro from.
