Oblits are a bad idea for several reasons.

1. Pitiful endurance slotting.
2. Melee defense is nice until you realize most of the -def in the game is ranged. At least with S/L tags, you protect yourself from that kind of thing.

I've got two builds posted on the blog, one for my brute and one for my tank. Those can probably give you plenty of ideas.

Willpower is just too boring for me. It either works or it doesn't.

I like Dark Armor because I like having buttons that keep me on my feet or put me back on my feet or stun everything trying to kill me.

I'd take Invulnerability before Willpower because I'd still have Dull Pain for a reaction type power.

Oh yeah, it's not that hard when the missions are set for x8 and you bunch 'em up with Grav Emanation.

Range IO or no, the target caps are still different. Em caps at 10, Det at 16.

I like Emanation more. It does more damage and recharges more often. It does hit less targets though.

I wanted to explain my alternative, and I would have if I ever felt you had more desire than to just throw personal insults at me. Yeah, I shouldn't have kept responding to those. I apologize to the OP for the long thread derail.

The alternative I had from the very beginning is for my main, a Bots/Traps mastermind. The threats to the world have been continuing to increase and he is doing what he's always done to stop them: Adapt. He saw people chasing after the well to defeat gods, but he remembered how he had handed Recluse his helmet. He didn't need godly powers to compete with gods, he needed his lab. Technology builds on itself, always growing faster. That is the power he relied on.

Now you can claim that it does indeed stem from the Well and the human potential. You could claim that some of the tech he uses "just shouldn't work." That can even be your character's interpretation of it. But my character refuses to acknowledge the Well as his source of power. It has always been his wit and his tech, and in his mind, he will continue on that path.

Other people acknowledged my mistakes? I seem to remember four people telling you that I have not insulted you.

And you tell me I'm dealing in absolutes when anyone who doesn't conform to your beliefs is the failure as a roleplayer?

Basically, though, Tevan was a short, fat, and already balding 26 year old accountant in Steel Canyon when he was abducted by the Circle of Thorns to be used in their Nictus experiments. The Thorns wanted a Nictus-Demon-Hybrid, but the Nictus energy could only bind to humans, so they did the next best thing. Turn a human into a Nictus, then have him possessed by a demon so they could control him.

Except that the Nictus fought back against the demon. So poor Tevan is now struggling through life while two voices rage back and forth in his head. As long as he keeps fighting crime (or whatever else) he keeps the Nictus fed with energy to fight off the Demon's control. This leads to a lot of irritability and random outbursts mixed with an irrational need to start any kind of trouble he can.

The entire mix might be a bit too volatile for a comic, but it's here if you want to try.

Let me explain that pointing out logical fallacies does not equate to insulting your intelligence.

For instance: If I point out you're driving with a flat tire, that means that you have problems with your car, but it's certainly not the same as calling you a bad driver or a stupid person for driving with a flat tire.

You may not like that I have pointed out the logical fallacies, and there's no reason you should. If you have logical fallacies in your argument, it means your argument either has nothing to stand on or is being defended with invalid reasoning.

Nothing I have said was a personal insult or an attack of your intelligence. I have not been looking down on you. I have merely pointed out weaknesses in your argument and holes in your defense. Nothing more.

Except that I have not claimed to be superior to you. Again with the straw man. You attack a position that I do not hold. I have only claimed that my characters can demonstrate superior performance than yours. Maybe that claim is false, but I'll leave it up to you to refute with evidence. Don't call it an ad hominem. That's a straw man.

This is a blatant falsehood. Allow me to requote your initial statement in the thread.

First, you present the false dichotomy that "anyone who doesn't work the Well of the Furies into their story" is incapable of doing so. Then you insult them as failures.

My response was harsh, but attacked only your opinion for being close minded and intolerant. After that, you didn't ask if I had alternatives, you didn't ask for my explanation. You went on an ad hominem, straw man rampage.

Again, you've shown your colors. You demonstrate no desire to discuss with civility in mind. I chose every one of my words carefully, intending no personal insult to you at all. I attack your words, your stance, how you defend it, and nothing more. You have attacked me. You have misrepresented my stance. You have slung insults at me.
