I learned the ways of iBITE. That is to say, I see no fury bar.

Money may not be the key to happiness. But I'm pretty sure poverty isn't it either.

Quote:Nonsense! I never let my pets block doors for the team I'm not on.I always make sure my henchmen are in the clear and not blocking any doorways or otherwise preventing teammates from getting through. I'm like the only Mastermind in the game who does this.
On topic, however, I don't think I would shrink my henchmen. I like them big and bulky. I can keep them out of doorways. Besides, how is my Assbot supposed to be the harbinger of fiery doom if he's only three feet (or less) tall? -
I'm just pointing out that your original post implied that everyone did, thanks to the wording of your choices.
Of course.
Doesn't matter much, though, because I just don't use that power often. -
Quote:Then I'm not sure where your issues are coming from. I'm running a level 29 stalker right now. All DA toggles except Cloak of Fear, add in weave and combat jumping. I spam my attacks (gotta keep a few stacks of Divine Avalanche running). I'm not noticing any downtime either.I guess its the way I play. No downtime, spam attacks, toggles up all the time. I use End Reds (after acc of course) when slots allow and only until set bonuses come into play. Stamina does seem to help.
It could just be my mindset, I have also been picking Fitness on every toon for years.
Seriously though, I don't care if you have endurance problems. Just don't assume that we all do. -
Quote:Ok, these two I have a problem with.1. Play as normal, get stamina, then respec after i19.
2. Dont bother with stamina, and be without end all the time. Then respec after i19.
3. Play lowbie toons that usually wouldnt have picked up stamina yet. Deal with all other problems lowbie toons have, no end, acc, money, etc.
4. Respec Stamina out now, add other powers, deal with recovery issues, then respec after i19, to add a slot or two in health or stamina.
I'm playing a Dark Armor character for crying out loud without stamina, and I have no endurance issues. Don't put so much bias into your choices. -
Quote:Yes, Bill Z did all the work on that. See the "Results are in" threads. Fire Melee, in comparison to the other sets, was performing better* for brutes than it was for scrappers.I'm just wondering if anyone has actually put forth the data proving this...?
By better, I only mean "within that AT." -
Quote:This is just some theory craft, I'm not sure how applicable this will be, but I'll give it my best.Taking into account defense debuffs and the level and types of mobs I'm fighting, should I aim for a bit higher just for padding? Or will I be just fine even when facing mobs with a lot of defense debuff?
Most defense debuffs are on the order of 7.5%. Let's assume you fight nothing but +2 enemies, who have combat modifiers of 1.22, bringing the debuff value up to 9.15%. Now it gets resisted by your DDR of 59%, meaning that each debuff that hits you is 3.75%.
Energy Absorption brings you up to 53%, meaning a buffer zone of 8% before cascading failure sets in and you die or hibernate. Assuming the previous paragraph is true, the cascade starts on the third debuff to land, so long as they all overlap.
At the softcap, fighting +2s, your chance of getting hit is somewhere at an average of 7.5% (minions to bosses). I don't feel like retyping everything in my softcap guide, so please just refer to that as far as how likely you are to enter the cascade failure. -

Just to throw in my experience here: I started leveling up a Ninja Blade/Dark Armor stalker and I am impressed with how well he survives.
It was rough until I got Divine Avalanche and Dark Regen, but now... I feel pretty unstoppable. I haven't even picked up the control auras yet.
He's level 29 right now, no Cloak of Fear and no Stamina. The only set IOs I have are the Theft of Essence proc and a KB protection. Last night I was running on a full team doing +2 missions. I was sidekicked, so I saw nothing but purple and red enemies, many times fighting +4s to me. I found that I can open with AS, which fears the enemies long enough to stack up my Divine Avalanches. If fit hits the shan, there's always Dark Regeneration. -
I think that was the point of making those threads. If there is an official thread for a topic, that topic cannot be discussed anywhere else (by the rules). Therefor, by making and then locking those threads, no such discussion can take place.

Quote:Gah, that thread is a mess.I'd also recommend the OP read Dechs' DA thread if he hasn't already as Dechs has a number of good insights into the set and explains things well.
Don't get me wrong, there's a ton of good information in there, and not all of it mine. There is, however, a good deal of bickering and some incorrect information as well. Just be careful while stumbling through that thread.
One of these days I'm going to sit down and write the MFing Dark Armor Guide. But it'll wait at least until after I'm done leveling the DA stalker. I'd like to have a better feel for the set with lower modifiers. -
Fire worked ok for me (see link in sig), but I really would have been even tougher with stone, mace, SS or elec, which have stuns to stack with OG and knockdown to give you some more breathing room. Kinetic Melee would be a good pair as well. It has stuns, knockdown, extra mitigation in the form of -damage, and a long time damage buff for the damage aura.
Endurance isn't a problem. All you really need is the theft of essence proc in Dark Regen and you're golden.
Dark Armor is an amazing tank set, especially considering your godmode comes at level 8. -
Here, I'll throw out volume two.
After remembering to summon FFG, forgetting that it de-spawns 2 minutes later. -
I figured it was a timing thing, just pretty odd to see it. We brought Hopkins down quickly and then I looked up at the timer and chatted "20 seconds!" We busted our collective butts to clear that huge room, but I thought for sure we failed.
-
Just did a Manticore TF.
Set the challenge for a time limit of one hour.
We succeeded.
I'm not sure how.
-
-
Yes they do. I actually did a +4 MoITF on my DA tanker.
Granted, it was an accident but we said "What the hell, it seems easy enough" after the first mission.
Incorrect. Staying alive is optional. Holding aggro is not.
A tanker who is the last man standing has failed. -
Resistances across the board better than WP, and most are better than Dark Armor's. I don't see how that could be defined as poor anywhere.
Quote:there's no defence inherent to the set, it is easily subject to a variety of cascading failures/debuffs, and the heal is... okay but not great.
Because +HP is the only thing that makes a tank, which is why almost half the armor sets have no means to obtain this.
Quote:Willpower has 150 hp/sec regen, some DDR, soft capped to all damage types, massive HP.
Hey, you're the one who started with the hyperbole and misinformed attitude. Don't blame me for jumping on it. Don't blame the set for your failures as a player. -
-
Yeah, but it allows you to use your higher end/activation powers more often. There in lies the real problem.
-
If you already have stamina, then you're essentially getting three free new powers, but you won't have slots for them. Either skim some from elsewhere, or pick powers that don't need extra slots.
Hasten can be good on the default slot, but it's not going to be a permanent thing. Try thinking of hasten as a "sometimes" power instead of an auto power. When you're getting hit with slows, or you have someone buffing recovery, then use it.
