  2. This is the current build of my favourite and most played scrapper.

As you can see I still haven't respecced him out of the fitness pool and into inherent fitness. As I tend to only play a few months every year I haven't kept up to date with all of the changes going on in the game and as such I am currently a +2 incarnate (I went Spiritual for Alpha and Reactive for Interface, though I am considering changing these if there are better options)

the blank set is a purple ATO set

Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated

  3. I always used to get bored of playing stalkers around the 30s as they felt pretty much like one trick ponies. The change has really been good for the AT. Made a Elec Melee/Energy Aura and have not been disappointed. It just keeps getting better and better.
  4. Same problem here, have to regularly use task manager to close the launcher as its locked up/frozen
  5. Was in a group earlier working through the maria Jenkins arc.

She sent me to Dark Astoria to kill Battle Maiden. The non VIP players couldn't access DA to get to the mission using mission transporter (it kicked them from zone and dropped them from the team)

As this is an arc that is available to all players surely it needs to not send people to a VIP area .

Hopefully this problem won't happen on TFs.

    Server Transfers

Sorry for any confusion. Yes it is the fact that a premium needs to use two character slots to move one character that I was bemoaning.

Fortunately the solution from Roderick works so I have a 2nd VIP account with some extra points, which will keep me in invention licenses for a few extra months and an extra 30 days free on my VIP account.

    Server Transfers

So I have a VIP account and a Premium account.

On my Premium account I have 2 server transfer tokens, all of my server slots have been used and I have 3 Global slots.

I have a character on Virtue that is locked and have no server slots to spend, apparently he can't be transferred without me unlocking a slot on the server that I don't want to play on without me wasting a global slot on a server i don't intend to use again. Is this working as intended?

Just to add an anecdote to that...having early access to those sets doesn't necessarily mean the GR code wasn't from a third party purchase. My memory is fuzzy on specifics but i do remember having early access to those but i don't remember paying money for it. Dang fuzzy memory. Anyone know if there was a deposit of some kind to get that early access?

I do know i bought my box from bestbuy.com. They had a launch day promo of $10 off if purchased online (i set it as a store pickup on launch day)
I'm pretty sure that Going Rogue was only available digitally to those of us outside the US, rather than having the choice of digital or boxed as in the US.

So if you just play for free and don't spend anything on them they aren't all that interested. But if you play for free and throw bucket loads of money at them then they will perk up. Because they have made no secret about it being the bucket loads of money driving the decision and not needing more players.

Remember the whole process has taken over 2 years to implement so this was no rush job for more players.
F2P hybrid models were an unknown quantity over 2 years ago (first big western hybrid f2p conversion was launched July 2009)and that was for a game that was dead on it's feet. So they must have been awfully quick off the mark to have started the conversion 2 years ago (and seriously if they have spent 2 years on the store UI that they currently have, someone needs sacking, it's obvious they have tried to copy Turbines but done a terrible job)

Being honest, CoH had one or two well populated servers and a stack of ghost towns. They needed more players as nothing puts people off an MMO like a lack of players. The only way player numbers would increase (as releasing expansions hasn't worked) is the hybrid conversion. And just because a model worked for one game doesn't mean a different model will work for another. However it is likely to increase profits simply through current subscribers paying more through the store.

since you said you where already donating stuff...and only going to come back now and again shouldnt be too big of an issue....you should be able to dump quite a bit on the suction house.....
the ingame email doesnt last forever so i am not suggesting that to cary items.....and i think it also has a limit.

but yah....like i said just get rid fo the items that hold things.....that should be the onyl items that charge rent.....i dotn think anything else does...maybe the oroboros stone does too or the desk that lets you craft or maybe the vault access items as well...but not sure about those.
I have over 700 IOs stored in base storage, and around 200 rare salvage, in one of my bases, no idea how many in the others on different servers.

  12. Not really much point a Premium player doing Mothership Raid unless they have completed tier 4 so they can actually gain Vanguard merits.

never in this thread has it been mentioned that free or premium players should have the ability to create or edit bases, its simply focused on premium players not being able to pay upkeep. So I fail to see your point. Bases are also a high revenue source for another superhero MMO.

Paragon have received about 3 months subs a year from me for the last couple of years. I'd be paying that amount in bulk to open up the invention system. And the fact that I'd be able to access the game at any time would probably mean I'd buy every costume set and new powerset, like I have done in the past.

Yet people are having digs at me for wanting to be premium and saying I should think myself lucky? The game obviously needs more people paying more or it wouldn't have gone hybrid/f2p. Yet the little restrictions like this are deal breakers for some. There's zero reason I can see for premium players being unable to pay base upkeep.
  15. I'm glad that I find this out, was planning on buying enough paragon points to get to the end of tier 7, but after seeing this I will pass on that and simply let my sub slide and likely not return.

I can live with no Incarnate content. I can live with have to spend £60 to get my Invention system unlocked permanently. But being permanently locked out of my base if I go premium is the straw that breaks the camels back.
  16. No matter what the words stated the trailer included does nothing to suggest it's incorrect.

Play for free, forever is the tagline. The trailer pretty much says the game is F2P.

    • Even taking it at its face value, it would mean Premiums who bought GR get the Alpha slot. Not the rest of the slots.
    * Anything the devs say about anything that's not out yet is a statement what's planned. It's always subject to change - when evaluating what you're getting you have to look on the box, store, etc. If you don't get that then you have a legitimate gripe.
The pre purchase for GR started in March, Alpha slot didn't get removed from Beta until July.

It was on sale for 4 months with the Alpha slot as an advertised feature.

A trend requires more than one data point to show.
You obviously fail drastically at reading, or did you simply choose to ignore the comments from other publishers below that article

I can quite clearly see on those pictures you posted that it states Going Rogue includes one incarnate level.

I have never argued that it included more than the Alpha slot.

Subscribers are their bread and butter but Freebies are their Ferraris and Holiday Homes.
Actually I think the model here will succeed in increasing the revenue per paying customer, but the overall revenue per customer will drop. That is the trend that exists in most F2P games

    Very informative article here

Critical words bolded for emphasis. People have produced evidence. If you can produce anyone with stills or recordings of that video you're referring to, you would have produced evidence, too. Even giving you the benefit of the doubt about the video claim being accurate, I still consider the balance of the evidence to come down on the side that, in terms of what is actually promised as part of the GR product, Incarnates is not there. What's promised is the feature list on the formal documentation, not what someone says in a presentation during beta.

Nope. They're gonna play for free and impulse buy everything they want ASAP.

The industry standard assumption is that 90% of F2P players never pay anything.

The hybrid models are successful because the subscribers generally end up paying more money.

Incarnate powers are not listed on the game boxes, not in the (US) online store page, etc.
    Actually that's incorrect

I consider a video of Positron stating at PAX that Going Rogue included the first tier of Incarnate access (which I linked earlier) fairly conclusive proof.

People seem to forget that Going Rogue was on Pre purchase way before it was in stores and it was advertised as including the Incarnate access. Removing it during beta does not negate the fact that by that point they had already sold it with that feature. And it was obviously clearly intended as a Going Rogue feature as they required you to buy GR in order to access Incarnate content.

My contention is therefore that the Alpha slot is clearly part of GR any further Incarnate content was simply the next issue. I have no problem with whatever Paragon want to include as free with the game. i do have a problem with revisionist history being enforced by the blinkered rabid anti-f2p crowd that seems to be building on these forums.
