On my channel you'll find about a dozen or so videos I made for COH/COV as trailers and teasers for the game for the last five issues of the game, plus music videos, commercials, etc. They feature characters of all looks and powers, enemies of virtually every faction, glimpses into most if not all of the zones in the game, and one in particular (the 5th Anniversary Commemorative Video) focused on the overarching timeline of the COH universe.

As an almost 3-year vet, I'm glad you're actually sticking with it - yes, the first few levels (especially with no travel powers) can be annoying, but as folks have mentioned, you can get temp powers by doing safeguards, or my other personal favorite - run in a large group and street sweep your way to and from your missions. Much XP and salvage to be had that way, depending on where you go!

Not a problem, generally. A lot of people are just getting a little ticked off at the newbie 50s that don't know what they're doing, but that shouldn't be you. While a lot has changed since you've been gone, you've also forgotten some basic stuff.

For me, it would all depend on how you asked the question.

For instance, this:

"How u get frum kr to pi?"

would get a lot different reaction that this:

"Hey, I've been gone for four years, and forgot where I need to go to get to PI from KR. Any help would be appreciated."

It lets us know why you're asking a fairly basic question, and does it in a way that doesn't make you look stupid.

Exactly. I've made more than my fair share of n00b mistakes way back when, so I TRY to be forgiving. A lot of it, though, depends on how the question's being asked or the conditions it's being asked under.

FWIW, I don't usually remember to look at badges or vet rewards stuff - I go by how they handle themselves in conversation, like the time I was running through Steel Canyon and I get a tell asking, "how do i get to pergrine island?"

I checked to see who'd asked (and found it was a fairly low level character, 16 or 17 or so), and replied, "Through the ferry in Talos, but be careful - you'll get smacked around at that level."

I get back...

"oh"

*pause*

"cuz thats where my mom usually plays and I like fighting Carnies"

Sure enough, kid on his/her parent's account. I sent back:

"*laughing* You'd need to do some serious levelling to handle PI... get to about 30 and try Founders' Falls - you can get Carnie missions there."

S/he thanked me politely and promptly ran off to the Green Line tram. No idea what happened after that, but I tried.

Are you referring to MA tickets, or to Merits (for completing story arcs of in-game content)?

The last couple of times I've run through RV with my bots/dark MM, I've been experimenting on the whole 'taking over pillboxes' thing (yes, I'm still learning how RV works). First time (maybe four days ago) I nabbed a couple, a message flashed up "Freedom Phalanx Reinforcements" or somesuch, and right about the time I thought, "That can't be good", BAM, I'm dead and standing over me are Synapse, Positron, and I THINK Sister Psyche and Statesman (by the time my brain kicked into gear to rotate the camera I was bampfed back to the base). I was one of maybe five or six players in RV at the time.

Yesterday I go back into RV with the same character, take over a couple of pillboxes, and the same message flashes up... but nothing happens. This time, however, there were several other players in the zone. So I wait, and wait, and wait... no sign of the Phalanx. I shrug and move on.

The heroes recapture a few pillboxes so I take a couple back for the redside, and the message comes up again... and again, no sign of the Phalanx.

Do they always spawn in one place and then haul a** over to where you are? Or do they spawn right on top of you? Coz if they spawn elsewhere and then book it to you, do they get distracted by scenery/other players/fighting Arachnos?

A while back, I'd started a thread asking players what backstories from the game they'd like to see. This then got me thinking of new maps I would love to see for some of these.

Such as...

<ul type="square"> [*] A big gothic cathedral map or canal-city type map for Venice in the 1600s for Giovanna Scaldi and the founding of the Carnival of Shadows.
[*] A Rikti Homeworld map for Hero 1 and Omega Team during the first Rikti invasion.
[*] A dark tribal unholy temple for the Banished Pantheon for the destruction of Astoria.
[*] Siren's Call, Overbrook, Eastgate, Woodvale, and Baumtom before their respective destructions (Siren's Call, Faultline, the Hollows, Eden, and Boomtown). Maybe do them as instanced outdoor missions a la safeguard/mayhem missions.
[*] A 1940s version of Independence Port where Atlas slugs it out with the Fifth Column.
[*] An actual Well of the Furies/Fountain of Zeus map.
[*] Something to suggest 1940s/1950s Italy to show Recluse taking control of Arachnos from the Weaver.

What would other folks like to see? Not just a backstory story arc, but the type of map that would go with it...

I love the Carnival of Shadows. And if I might beg BAB or whoever makes maps in the game, please please PLEASE create a Venice-style cathedral-ish map for a flashback Ouro mish to fight the original Giovanna Scaldi.

Personally I will WALK to Mountain View and bow down before the devs if they make Carnie costume pieces unlockable - the masks, the dresses, and the weapons would rock. Even the outfits the Seneschals wear would be fantastic.

(For example, instead of Fire Sword, gimme that torch and let me swing that sucker around!)

A quick update for those who've been wondering when Part II is due to begin. I'm waiting to hear back from Manticore about a few in-game timeline/story things before I get started. This way I don't have to waste a metric a**load of time and effort retconning stuff later on down the road.

Coz things are gonna get INTENSE.

I'll give you a hint, since I've been planning this arc for a long time now. The next major arc of TCoSR predates "Going Rogue" by close to four months. Draw your own conclusions.

Yep, that was me and my 5th anniversary video. And it didn't qualify for the Video Homage contest because a) I released it a day early, b) it's too long, and c) it's demorecorded instead of live action.

It is entirely possible to build a character that large in the game - *I* did it using democode, not any trick in Sony Vegas or somesuch. No reason why THEY can't do it.

So yeah, devs, build an official Atlas and let's see a TF/SF of Atlas vs the 5th Column, circa 1941.
