I've been playing CoH for over two years now. Today, while in Nerva on a mission for Grillo, I happened to overfly Crimson Cove and blundered into an area I'd never seen before... a BUNCH of cages with creature types from all over the game in them, and Crey scientists standing around.
I was astounded.
Then my husband pointed out that there's a similar facility under Agincourt, so off I go, and sure enough, there are about a half-dozen forcefield holding cells, with CREY supervising them, and TOURISTS!
I had NO idea these were here!
Has anyone else found really nifty stuff just by wandering around in-game? And if so, where are they? I am always looking for good filming locales, and I'd had no idea these were here!

I love the darkening sky events... but I sincerely hope someone other than my lone character shows up to the fight, which has been pretty much the case since the AE went in.
Maybe if there were a second series of accolade badges created... or badges for dropships added?

A dropship badge would be awesome. Call it "No Such Word as Impossible". Or "The Bigger They Are..."

Still, I would like to know Lady Grey's first name... Every time I ask her, she sends me on crazy missions. Usually it's easier to get that first name than the phone number, but this girl is just all backwards.

Per Issue #19 of the Top Cow comics (and Manticore actually WROTE said issue), Lady Grey's first name is Elizabeth.

*grins* I suppose it's not without reason that when I released my "History in the Making" video, BAB's comment to me was, "Damn, you know more about this game's history than I do."
Then again, considering I have no idea how much he knows about the game's history, that might not be all that impressive... if MANTICORE had said that, I would have been flying high.

The last invasion there was an organized server-wide Drop Ship take down... If I remember correctly we on Virtue won with over 40 I believe (I may be off by a few)... either way it was the best time I'v had playing since I started playing this game. I so hope we get to do it again.
If you haven't had a chance to take down a Drop Ship with over 100 other Hero's... man you are seriously missing out!!!

Virtue Server.
Rage Against the Rikti weekend.
60 minutes.
41 dropships.
I filmed the whole thing and made a video of it.(Until YouTube took it down, but it's still on my website.)

Not going to comment on the controversy surrounding any of this (not my place, at all) other than to say the following:
Twixt was a rank amateur compared to Fansy the bard.
[/ QUOTE ]
*goes to look at the Fansy the bard site, and eventually feels her brain starting to disintegrate*
Wow. Well, if this Twixt-whoever-he-is is only a rank amateur compared to Fansy, DO we have an equivalent here of Fansy's... calibre?

Hm, I'm pretty sure there's no cutscene during the TF, but the SF has one. I think I know what thing you're referring to here, though...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, sorry. I've never adopted the whole 'call it this on one side, but this on the other'.
I wasn't sure which side the cutscene took place on, but it's the one where you're rendered unconscious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where you wake up and you're all woozy and the camera's out of focus? I'd recorded the cutscene using /demorecord, and unfortunately, whatever effect that was, it's not listed there. Then again, neither is the whole sepia-tone-Ouroboros thing either.

Actually, it'd be neat if you got as your Tier 1s, the PPD bots, your Tier 2s, the PPD Guardian things, and Tier 3, a Longbow heavy-ish kinda thing?
Now you're a Coordinator or somesuch. Tactician, maybe?

I might tag along to film it.If I can get my videographer character on Champion to at least lvl 14 for Flight (not that fond of Raptor packs when trying to fly and film).

Hmmmmm... not being into PvP, nope, can't say I know who he is. Although if I'd known that MMO research would get me my PhD, I'd have done it a lot sooner. Something tells me I could probably write one hell of a sociology paper on this game, on topics far less controversial.
These could include:
1) Which gender do men play vs women play?
2) Are heroes or villains more prevalent?
3) Are players more likely to get a hero to 50 or a villain to 50?
4) For those players in serious, commited relationships, how has the game affected the relationship? For those players who are in relationships with other players, is the game a 'bonding' experience or does its competition foster resentment in the relationship?
5) What are the three predominant reasons that players play CoH/CoV?
Hmmmmmmm... well, if I do end up going back to school in 2010 (and yes, it IS for my PhD), I may use CoH as my research ground...
I'll be at the University, working on my Professor day job badge.

Did the Reichsman SF last night - 2 brutes, grav/en dom (*gasp* a lvl 50 BEFORE the dom-mod), bots/dark MM (me), merc/poison MM, SoA and a Widow. We were cruising along (taking our time, semi-RPing and being generous with bio breaks and girlfriend aggro), until we hit the last mish.
Wave after wave after wave after wave of 5th Column. Between somewhat poor planning on our part (why we chose to fight them off in the t-junction right outside the machine room... 3way ambushes, oy), the brutes not understanding that the MMs alone can rez people and if you want to be rezzed you have to stay nearby, and several people jumping back into the mission singly instead of en masse to clear the now-hot door... we were ready to scream after an hour and a half of this. THEN we get to Reichsman.
Who went down in like 15 minutes. Even without working MM temp powers, and using only one set of nukes (I can't remember which one it was, but we didn't use all three, I think it was chem). It was "pound pound pound hide in the machine pound pound pound someone dropped the chem nuke pound hide in the machine pound pound oh look he's dead."
Was glad to see that this time (as opposed to how it appeared on the test server), Mueller gets killed for his presumptuousness (we were making jokes that we wanted to be the ones to kill him and then Reichsman beat us to it).
AFTER we were done, we realized a lot of what we should have done to make it go smoother, so we will probably try it again. And apart from the repeated massacre by the 5th Column, I enjoyed it.
Personally (and YMMV), when we finally cleared out the ambushes and saw the machine room just packed with Columnists, we ALL went, okay, now if THIS is all we had to deal with (hell, cram another 200 in there), and not as ambushes? We'd have been FINE. We were totally into the cinematic idea of strolling into the machine room, seeing 400 Columnists turn to look at us, and go, "WHO WANTS SOME?!"
(BTW - if anyone has Nectar? Toss that into the mobs of Columnists and watch them tear themselves apart - we stood there laughing and picking off the stragglers.)
Yeah, I'd do it again.

any idea how many teams you had?
[/ QUOTE ]
We weren't FILLING zones until we got to Peregrine Island, so I'd guess we started with at least six or seven full teams, and were all the way up to 100 players chasing these things by the time we were doing the Peregrine Island stuff.

How long ago was your raid? If i remember correctly on the release of i13 the Rikti Ships were made invincible, the only way you could shoot one down was with a team on TEST Server.
I soooo wanted to get my team to take them out but i saw the notice regarding the ships.
Samuraiko filmed a few takedowns when we were on TEST for i14, there might be beautiful footage of me (i was the black catgirl with red outfit) flying through a ship and surviving only to be blasted by the one coming behind it (so much for phase shift), i spiralled to my doom in not so humble fashion. Never try to solo one of these
Yes Samuraiko i should have listened to you

A few hints for your dropship raid:
1) DEBUFFERS! You may not be able to slow those suckers down, but every bit helps.
2) Everyone should have Flight and/or Hover... Group Fly is semi-manageable, but only as reliable as the slowest person, and everyone else targets and follows that individual. Otherwise, start running bank missions now to get Raptor packs.
3) Any build is viable - we had every archetype there. But you wanna have FAST recharging stuff, and a TRAY full of blues.
4) Unless your team sticks together, running end-eating stuff like Tactics may not be useful, so you might be better off without them.

Only the first couple got really near the War Walls because it took us a bit to get the hang of it... after that (not to mention attracting a HUGE amount of attention), we were bringing those suckers down fairly fast.
To everyone else, glad you liked the video!

Isn't that of Freedom clearing a bunch of zones of Dropships, Michelle?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, that was Virtue. But it's definite proof that dropships can be taken down, and rather efficiently in fact, if you know the flight paths of the dropships. I think they're currently up on ParagonWiki or something.
As the video shows, we took down 41 dropships in just about an hour.

Hooray, Sean answered some of my questions! Unfortunately for me (and the fans of THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE), he tabled the "Praetorian Earth" questions until closer to the expansion for "Going Rogue." *sigh* So I will have to develop that part of the story later than I'd hoped.
Kudos, though, for letting us know that Red Widow has not been forgotten!
