Kinetic Armor

Had another brainstorm for a powerset and threw one together, although i wasnt quite as good at creating new powers this time since the set already half-way exists.

Any criticisms/comments/suggestions welcome!


[u]Kinetic Armor[u]: Through your mastery of physics you control your potential and kinetic energy to buff yourself and even debuff your opponent. While you do not specialize in resisting or defending against any certain attack you do specialize in increasing your damage output and decreasing your enemies.


[u]Kinetic Shield[u]: Your mastery of physics allows you to decrease the potential and kinetic energy of attacks for small things such as bullets, blades, and even punches virtually stopping them dead in their tracks. (Toggle: 15% Def to Smash/Lethal. +Res to Def Debuff) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 1[u]

[u]Dampening Field[u]: Your body resonates a mild Dampening Field that absorbs kinetic energy from physical weapons. This auto power permanently reduces all incoming Smashing and Lethal damage. This power is always on and costs no Endurance. (Auto: +10 Res Smash/Lethal) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 1[u]

[u]Kinetic Switch[u]: You lessen Kinetic and Potential Energy from an opponent and use it to boost your own. This will reduce the opponents running speed, attack rate, and damage output while increasing your own. (Ranged: Single Target – Foe: –50% speed, -20% recharge, -15% Damage to all. Self: +speed, +20% recharge, +15% Damage to all.) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 2[u]

[u]Increase Density[u]: You increase your own mass making yourself more resilient to Disorient, Immobilize, Hold, Knockback, Teleportation, and Endurance Drain effects, while improving your resistance to Smashing, Lethal, and Energy Attacks. Because you have grown more dense your movement speed will be reduced (Toggle: Mez Protection, +25% Res to Smash/Lethal, +10% Res to Energy, -25% speed.) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 6[u]

[u]Entropy Field[u]: Your knowledge of Reversible Thermodynamic Processes, and Mastery of Physics allows your body to act as an Entropy absorbing energies. (Toggle: +25% Res Fire/Cold/Energy, +15% Res to Negative Energy.) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 8[u]

[u]Kinetic Strife[u]: Your absolute mastery of physics allows you to create a field around you that will decrease the kinetic and potential energy of your foes causing them to move slower, do less damage, and use more endurance with each attack. This will be the opposite however for yourself, and any ally nearby in melee range, giving a small bonus to damage, speed, and granting an endurance discount to yourself and your allies. (PBAoE Toggle: Foe: -speed, -damage, -endurance discount. Self+Ally: +speed, +damage, +endurance discount) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 12[u]

[u]Conserve Power[u]: You concentrate for a moment and conserve your energy and reduce your potential energy, during this time you will receive an endurance discount to all your powers and will do slightly less damage. However, when this power wears off the energy you saved will increase your potential energy giving you a greater damage output. (Click: +Endurance Discount, -10% damage for 1 minute 30 seconds. +50% damage after 1minute 30 seconds for 1 minute 30 seconds. Recharge: 15mins.) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 18[u]

[u]Transfusion[u]: You drain an enemy of some endurance and transfer it back to yourself in the form of Hit Points. You must be within melee range of the opponent to use this power. Cannot be used to heal others. (Click: Self Heal for 20%, Foe: -20% endurance) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 26[u]

[u]Overload[u]: You can Overload your Energy Aura and dramatically improve your defense to all attack types except Psionic Attacks. Overload also grants you high resistance to Defense Debuffs. This Energy Aura is so powerful, that it can even absorb some damage, effectively increasing your Max Hit Points, However, when Overload wears off, you are left drained of all Endurance and unable to Recover Endurance for a while. (Click: Self: +55% Def to all but psionics, +Res to Def Debuff, +100% recovery, +15% Max HP for 3 minutes. Then you Crash) [u]Can be taken at lvl: 32[u]

It's probably a little over-powered with the resistance and defence numbers but i tried to include some of the powers that were already out there.

Any suggestions or comments are appreaciated!

Guarantee CP will be switched out, since you can get it in APPs and PPPs. Transfusion and Increase Density need new names, too. Perhaps replace CP with a variation of Transference.

It doesn't look too bad from a numbers standpoint but Kinetic Switch and Kinetic Strife just scream broken to me.

Going to tackle this thing individually and then as a whole. But before I start let me assure you that I -like- the idea.

Kinetic Shield and Dampening field. Right on target, in my opinion. though I'd switch their positions so that Scrappers, stalkers, and Brutes get the Auto-Power before they can select the toggle.

Kintetic Switch. I'm sorry. But OP doesn't cover it... Make it Melee range, lower the numbers on both the buffs and debuffs, and swap it with Entropy Shield's location in the chain.

Increase Density is fantastic, thematically. The numbers in it look pretty good, though I'd lower the Smashing Lethal to about 15%.

Entropy Field is Spot On.

Kinetic Strife should stay a Toggle. I really like the idea of a Slow-field that applies a -end discount to the targets. I wouldn't suggest, however, allowing it to buff teammates. I'd also like to suggest you change it's end Discount into a +recovery or +regen per-target. Maybe even +recharge...?

Conserve Power... It's a really neat power, but I don't think it belongs in the set. Though Conservation of Motion would be nice. Click power PBAoE +recharge +speed per target in the AoE. -Spd -recharge to enemies in the AoE. Long recharge, long duration.

Transfusion I like a lot. It fits, thematically. Though a 20% heal sounds... Off.I kinda understand what you mean, though. General self-heal but it debuffs a target.

For Overload I'd proooobably lower the Defense Buff to 30%. Maybe 35% to workshop it. I like the +HP aspect, I like the Crash. But suddenly giving someone who has spent most of the game with low resistance numbers and lower defense buffs (To S/.L only, I might add) a free pass to Soft-Capped Defense for 3 minutes seems a bit out of place. Though I'd be happy to suggest adding resistance on that power as well. Probably S/L/Nrg resistance of between 25% and 45%.

Just my alterations, not sure who'd like 'em!

This is almost a carbon copy of Energy Aura, which we already have.

Thanks again Everyone for the constructive feedback.

I really liked the idea of having some form of exotic debuff such as the -endurance discount. I can also agree Overload might be a lil high i was just going by what the current power did as i couldn't think of a good T9.

Also i can see why some people think that Energy Aura could be a Kinetic Armor set, but even though it has a power called "Kinetic Shield" the whole set has nothign to do with Kinetics and barely even physics for that matter.

My Idea for this set was for it to be a more "Science" oriented set for science origin chars. I know it is pretty much the same as Energy Aura, but this is what i would think a Kinetic Armor set would look like. Because Energy Aura really has nothign to do with "Kinetics."

But, either way it was just an idea I had and i thought i should run with it! Maybe there is hope for Plant Armor

Ok, I normally just read over concepts, but THIS is well thought out and, I agree with Samuraiko, conceptualization alone makes it full of win.

I really think it could have a lot of potential obviously it will need some adjusting because its just a "prototype" if you will. I to love the concept and I really like the exotic debuff in Kinetic Strife.
