And cheers for seeing mod presence on this thread, and redname confirmation that truly flagrant rep comments will be modsmacked.

I think this year, if he's at HeroCon '09, I'm going to ask David EXACTLY what restrictions he and his team work under. Mainly because I'd like to see if I can do the same and still produce the type of videos you guys have gotten used to from me.

The "money where your mouth" is point is also well taken. If we want to enjoy the happy stuff, we ought to pay for it.

Thanks for all your hard work D_R!
Now there's an endorsement - my videos don't make people want to yell at their screens. I like it.

    And you're welcome, Moggie.

  4. People have been howling for CoH-related stuff for ages - but I agree with you, P_P. T-shirts with Desdemona and/or Maelstrom on the front, with GOING ROGUE - 2009 or something on the back, would be quite cool. (I can just imagine the looks I'd get at work wearing the Desdemona t-shirt.)

This is definitely the opportunity for a major media blitz - is any superhero-ish/action movie coming out between now and November that you could put the "GR" CGI trailer on? We see ads all the time now for various and sundry video games - COH should join the pack.

    Hey devs!

*grins* If nothing else, I gotta say I love the tags you guys have put on this thread.

As far as the "I like pie" one, I do - as long as it's Marie Callendar's Kahlua Cream Cheese Pie. Their Chocolate Satin pie is good too. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I don't know about that - a lot of people have said they hate cutscenes, even if I WERE to be the one creating them.

  6. There's actually a thread going in the Forum Games section called "1001 Things Every Lvl 50 Should Have Done" or something to that effect. A lot of these would probably go well on there.

You sort of got your hints based on the type of bases I'm looking for.

*mutters* Granted, I just about got shafted on what the licensing fees for the cue I wanted to use would cost.

Nope, it's not too late. I'm taking submissions until August 31st. After that, it's time to get cracking on filming.

I never found an unslotted magic item that could compare with a good slotted item. Combine gems to get bigger ones, and keep upgrading throughout the game. I was able to do well with all of the classes, but my favorite was the Amazon. I pumped points into Ice Arrow and the defensive skill tree, triple slotted a bow with good gems, and destroyed all opposition. Thanks to the gem damage, I could even inflict heavy elemental damage with normal attacks when I wanted to go easy on the skills and recover mana.
It was even better when you could play a bow-wielding Amazon in the Arcane Sanctuary before they fixed the glitch where you could shoot half the length of the Sanctuary and kill the False Summoner without getting more than 10 feet away from the entry portal.

D2 was a good game, for all its flaws, and I enjoyed it a great deal. But I'd never play it on Battlenet... I'd only play solo or on a LAN with friends. If I want to game online, I play CoH.

Actually, Tangler, that's a really good way of describing it. I keep forgetting about the whole HoF thing.

  16. Depends on whether someone's (I forget whose, I wanna say Perfect_Pain's) initial claim that negative rep comments are monitored is actually true. Snarkiness, while annoying, is par for the course. Even profanity might get through and to some degree or another let slide, but once outright attacks start (slandering someone's sexuality, or threats of violence), it'd get shut down. At least, I would very much hope so, under those circumstances.

  18. I keep getting the weirdest neg comments.

What the hell is "Silly Walks" supposed to convey? (Wasn't even on the thread where some player is asking about getting the ability to make our characters walk instead of always running.) Then there's "Loon," "Bad Videos are Bad," and "NEG NEG NEG".

Even more bizarre is that the bulk of my negative rep comes from posts that are not exactly confrontational or controversial.

Maybe there's actually a bounty thing here in the rep system that works like Siren's Call does... some random individual with a positive rep higher than X (or negative rep lower than X) has his/her name come up, and you have to pick a random post and either ding them if they're positive, or boost them if they're negative. Whichever side wins enough rep mods takes control of the forums for 5 minutes or something.

That's because despite our endless pleas (okay, my occasional nagging), the devs haven't added a Japanese-based zone yet. Personally, I'd LOVE to see a zone that's Paragon City's equivalent of Chinatown, where the Tsoo REALLY have a foothold.

As soon as that zone shows up, the dare will go out to have people standing on the street corner in coolie hats and blue and red skirts, trying to summon storms and attempting to teleport off buildings.

  21. 101) Had a spawn of purples from someone else, descend on you and promptly were kissing pavement as you were running to the train in talos or bricks.

    102) Cussed out the person who caused the purple spawn in broadcast..

    103) Attempted to enter the Train from the exit, and wondered why it wouldn't let you in

    104) Actually teamed outside of AE.

    105) Made a Global Friend.

    106) Made an utter fool out of yourself on the forums.

    107) Taken advice from others that helped you to never do 106 again.

    108) Tried other AT's besides the one they got to 50.

    109) Complained bitterly about someone's playstyle, only to realize that yours has similar elements.

    110) Taken a hint from a more experienced player.

    111) /em flex1 on Atlas' back to help him hold the globe.

    112) Proudly displayed the "Tank" badge on a blaster.

    113) Accidentally bought up a bunch of SO's of the wrong origin

    114) Yelled "Fire in Steel Canyon!"

    115) Ignored Steel Canyon being on fire. Again.

    116) Thought about setting Steel Canyon on fire, since it's always burning anyway.

    117) Gotten lost in Boomtown.

    118) Flown to the dam in Faultline and repeatedly foot-stomped to see if you could make it collapse.

    119) Nearly gotten eaten by the... WHATEVER IT IS... in the water by the dam.

    120) Tried to get Doc Delilah eaten by the WHATEVER IT IS.

    121) Wondered why a cool chick like Mirror Spirit just stands there as a trainer, and we get stuck with Fusionette as an ally.

Here is the default determination of how much rep you dole out:
    1 + (years registered) + (posts / 1000) + (reputation / 100)

It's integer division, so all remainders are tossed. So I've been a member now for four whole years, my post count is 4577, and my reputation is 215. Each time I give someone positive reputation (and if they haven't changed the defaults), I'm actually giving them:
    1 + (4) + (4577 / 1000) + (215 / 100) =
    1 + 4 + 4 + 2 = 11 reputation
Nifty. Thanks for posting this, TonyV!

Looking at them now, GH. Before I forget, I gotta tell you I LOVE that room with the chaise longue and the fireplace. That room I might have to use for filming an entirely different project.

And holy CRAP, that long shot down the red hallway with the statue at the end is AWESOME... The teal is a bit jarring, but other than that... whoa.

*mind already racing with the filming possibilities*

I might have to use more than one base... these are GOOD!

Wow, it reads a lot like the thread in question here, except there are a few more racist comments there than I think our mods would have let past the radar... blech.

  25. Dude, if having a background for your character that you can look at and go, "It WORKS", and you're happy, that's all that matters. It's your character - go for it.

That said, I'm no meteorologist - you might post a question on Yahoo! Answers and see if one answers you there!
