  1. Thanks for the mission last night Liz, shame I had to duck out swiftly after it ended.

I'm considering running the Katie Hannon TF on this coming Monday (25th) depending on numbers. A few of the Militia should be along but if anyone else would be interested in joining, let me know. ICly, it will be on a tip off to The Amber Banshee by her Fae cousins but there's no reason that the contact wouldn't have warned others of the danger. I'd like to start meeting at the contact from 19:30 and start at 20:00 prompt if we have enough people. Further details are as follows:

    Contact: Katie Hannon
    Level Range: 30 - 34
    Notes: Requires 6 people
    Zone: Croatoa
Primary Enemy: The Cabal, Red Caps
    Name: A Tangled Plot
    Badge: Cabalist Badge
Description: You aided the Cabal in their struggle against the loathsome Red Caps.
  2. From within the baseball grounds, a hatch opened, revealing a thin redhead in a beaten leather jacket. Behind her stood a man of immense proportions with a concerned look on his face.

“Are you sure you want to go out there Saffy?” asked the huge man as the girl peered out.

“I’ll be fine dad, honestly,” she replied, “I’ve been doing this for over two years now. I just want to see what’s happened. The Dugout’s built to take a beating but I don’t want to see it damaged. I dread to think what the rest of The Militia would do without their beloved base. I’ll be back in no time.”

Brian Mackenzie smiled and watched his daughter pull on her facemask, the one she always wore when she became The Amber Banshee. “Ok, just be careful,” he said, ruffling her ginger hair. “You need a hand, give me a shout. I’ll be working on the Genome Resequencer.”

Saffron grinned and made the motion of a plane zooming over her head, a common joke between them whenever he talked science. Then she turned and leapt clear from the base entrance and over the wall, into the street where the meteorite sat glowing. Steam was rising from around it, creating an eerie fog that sat at waist level in the street. Even from a distance of 100 metres, Saffron could feel the heat radiating from it. The police had already cordoned off the area but one flash of her license got her past the yellow tape. A couple of scientists stood around with giga-counters, checking each other’s readings. But even they were keeping a good distance. She strode past them and peered into the fog, just making out the glowing red shape as it sat in its crater and a few figures of heroes a little bolder than her.

“Don’t let it be Shivans,” she muttered to herself as she waited for the fog to clear.

Colin Hammond sighed as he took up his post at the Paragon Astronomical Society’s Skywatch station. Ever since the meteors had fallen in Bloody Bay several years ago, the Skywatch had maintained a 24 observation post, in case anything similar happened again and to keep an eye out for any Rikti portals that appeared, in case they decided to try and send another mothership to attack the city. However, for many years it was a thankless and boring task, forgotten about until the alarm bells started ringing. Colin, part of the five o’clock watch, came in and sat down in front of the console, nursing his first coffee of the day. It was then that he saw that a red light was on.

Ten minutes later and the coffee lay untouched. The emergency services and Hero Corps had been alerted and now Colin Hammond, desk clerk, was on the phone to the mayor, having woken him from his slumber.

“No Mr Mayor, I don’t know how much damage it will do,” he explained, flustered. “A meteorite this size normally burns up in the atmosphere but this one didn’t. We suspect it’s made of something other than just rock.” He paused as the bleary eyed mayor bombarded him with questions. “No, it’s not very big. But it is travelling very fast. I dread to think what damage it could do when it hits Kings Row. We need to evacuate that area as soon as possible!”

Thirteen minutes later the skies opened above Paragon. The meteorite, travelling at breakneck speed, hurtled towards its destination, flames in its wake. The rock, or whatever it was, had proven too small to target with the city’s defences. A few bold heroes had flown towards it, trying to deflect its descent but to no avail. As it tore over the city skyline, what citizens that were awake at that time turned to watch the projectile as it descended into the Kings Row area. It hit one of the streets that had fortunately been evacuated where it scored a mile long track of broken concrete before it came to a halt, just feet from the newly renovated baseball park. And there it sat, hissing, cooling and bright red from its heated descent.
  4. Well that sounds like a seal of approval.

I figure that anyone should be able to advertise here, regardless of what story arc or TF they are doing. I’ll be looking to set some up shortly, mostly hero side but some red side ones would definitely be on the cards too at some point. I’d like to think that they will be a good meeting ground for new contacts, IC friends and coalitions. I’m no stranger to standing around and chatting but I do like a bit of action too.

With regards to the very fair point that Zortel raises, the whole question of ‘exclusivity’ is one that is going to bug any roleplayer in this game. I’m happy to leave it up to the participants to figure out how they’re going to explain another hero claiming that they zapped The Clockwork King an hour before them. For me, I tend not to talk about in game achievements in an IC way outside of the actual TF itself. If I then meet that character later, I’ll acknowledge that they met and fought together but I try not to go into any detail otherwise you’ll get people arguing over who really rescued States from Tyrant all the time.

As for advertising, it might be good form just to post the TF/Story Arc details and their level range so people know what they’re aiming for. I also figure it might be a good idea to include an IC ‘hook’ if you can come up with one, some reason why this bunch of heroes are ganging up for the greater good etc. It could be something as simple as a distress call put out by the PPD, or the characters individually contacted by the contact that’s giving out the mission. Again, I’ll leave that up to others to decide.
  5. Hello everyone.

Following the rather successful thread on Zortel’s IC RWZ Team, it’s got me wondering: how many people out there would like to do more IC TFs and Story Arcs? I like to do Trials etc in character but I do know that some roleplayers find these anathema. However, if you were to give me the choice of an IC team or an OOC team, I’d go for an IC team every time.

In short, if more IC Trials, TFs and Story Arcs were organised, perhaps through this thread, would there be people out there interested?
  6. ((Gah!! Give me more notice girl! I love that mission! Ah, maybe next time, good luck to ya. ))
  7. Hmm, a sticky one. I’ve not fought every AV but I’ve taken on most of the Monsters so if any of these ideas are already used, ignore them. As much as I’d like to get away from scripted attack patterns, I doubt we’ll see that as it would require some fairly sophisticated AI. But for what it’s worth, I reckon these tactics could be added to GMs and a few AVs. It goes without saying that I would like to see a better reward for taking them on as well. Just a boost to XP or a chance for an uncommon drop would be good.

Toggle Dropping – At certain points in HP loss, the GM unleashes an attack with a 90% chance to drop any toggles on player characters. Queue 30 seconds of panic as melee ATs run for their lives and squishies hurry to reapply debuffs etc.

Phasing - No, not of the GM, but of players. What if the GM suddenly chooses one of the team and phases them for 30 seconds. Annoying yes, but for those fights when the team is hinging on the debuffer or tank, this gives them a few moments to try and survive without them.

AoE Confuse – One moment the team is blasting away at the AV, the next it’s blasting away at each other. The effect wears off after a while but unless people are packing plenty of break frees, they’re stuck. Not impossible to overcome but a welcome break from the ‘pile in and smash’ tactic that seems so commonly employed.

Absorbtion – A bit of a controversial one but something that would require a little more management. If one is fighting a fire based enemy and you attack with a fire based power, rather than simply resisting the attack, it absorbs it, healing back the HP it would have lost. However, to avoid the problem of certain sets being ‘locked out’ for the fight, this could happen in phases. So for example, Infernal could have a shield that when on, absorbs Fire and Energy damage but is weak to Ice and Negative. The shield toggles on and off during the fight, maybe when too much fire damage has been gained and turns it off 30 seconds later. I remember with fondness certain unholy enemies in FF7 which resisted everything but were crippled when you cast a heal on them.

None of these ideas will work for long and sure enough, people will learn the pattern and it will become unchallenging again. But these would at least break up the pattern of just hammering the attack keys until they fall.

While I’m at it, I’d also like to see some new GMs added. There are several villain groups who could benefit from having a GM added to their arsenal:

    - The Freaks and their enormous armoured car that drives around Brickstown, Freaks riding on top of it pumping out punk music and ammo in equal measure.
    - The giant, flaming Fire Dragon summoned by the Tsoo which roars its way around the upper parts of Steel Canyon.
    - The Cthulu style monster, called forth from the black pits by the Circle of Thorns and terrorises Founders Falls.
    - The Warriors and their armoured Trojan Horse that frequently attacks parts of Talos Island.

Yeah, I love GMs. Just wish there was more point in fighting them.

Oh and everything Leif_Roar suggested too please.
  8. I remember a PuG where we were checking out the new Faultline arcs when we picked up the ‘Save Doc Delilah’ mission.

Flying out over the pits, one of our number swoops down to where she’s stood as a contact and proudly declares that he’s found her. Always struck me as a bit of a daft set up especially as the route to the mission often takes you right past her.

On a somewhat related note, I'm currently reading a book about Shakespeare, who apparently (along with his contemporaries) ripped entire passages and lines out of previous works to chuck in his plays. Anyhow, thanks for the comment, I'll not post here again and hopefully a mod can get rid of it. Meanwhile I'll go have some fun in game. See you there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Shakespeare never had to write with an EULA hanging over his head.

I've got to say, that's a fairly bitter reaction when you have others encouraging you to have another go. Still, to each, their own. Have fun out there.
  11. Gaining the portal's never been a problem (see post on page 2 ). I am just curious as to why the Menders are unable to detect the time travel back to Cimerora. However, I think we've covered that now. A different conversation seems to have taken over.

And we'd like their feedback too, so if they could post it'd be nice. BaB has an EU account now, nothing stopping him!

I don't mean to decry your efforts GR, K, Palladium, but direct interaction with the developers of the game would be great. You guys do a sterling job, everyone agrees but it's just better if they could show us they're listening, rathr than just saying they are.

    QFT.

I still feel bad that BAB got such a reception last time he posted. I do hope that they post here again, or at least indicate that they're reading some of our suggestions and taking them on board. We love the game too and are excited by what's to come in the future. We may never get the level of interaction that the American forums do but it'd just be nice to hear some feedback from them as well.
  19. I've suggested it before and it's come up in this thread but I'll put it in a suggestion on its own:

Update the rewards on Story Arc completion to be something worthwhile. An uncommon recipe drop would be nice but a rare would be even better (could be linked to difficulty/length perhaps). A standard SO just doesn't cut it any more.

Oh, and everything that Valk suggested.

Technically it translates as Underrealm/Underworld which is where all souls go except those selected to celebrate with/entertain the gods.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Tartarus was the lowest point of Hades and was meant as a place of punishment, normally by some sort of cruel task e.g. Tantalus and his perpetually out of reach tree and lake. Unless the dead had done something nasty that deserved punishment, they'd be somewhere in the upper realms relaxing, with no knowledge of their former lives after drinking from the waters of the Lethe(sp?).

So yes, LR working as an incarnation of Tartarus would appear to be goading States in this circumstance as it hints that Monica is in his realm, rather than in the more peaceful one. Clever that LR.
  21. Really? I read a long post from BAB about weapon customisation that seemed to indicate that although it could be done, the shape and appearance of the weapon was the same as the cone of a blast power for example, as in it was 'baked in' (how I love that phrase). At least that was how I understood it.

I'm willing to concede that I'm wrong though in which case apologies. But I don't see customisation of that scale coming any time soon.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
before you think this is power customisation, stop, you are wrong, this is basically the ability to customise certain weapons in powersets but not change its colour or effect, I'll demonstrate:

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you are wrong. This is power customisation and has been covered many times in previous threads. The weapons are part of the power, not a separate item.

  24. In between the increasingly precarious nature of this thread (warlock is quite an offensive term to some of my lot), I noticed this OT post:

    [ QUOTE ]
You do realise that the menders:

    a) Aren't telling you the truth;

    b) Don't know as much as they pretend to;

    c) Are not good guys

    ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, yes, quite aware. I have no doubt that they are as slippery as a slippery fish that's just been elected as professor of slipperyness at Oxford University. I mean, just look at who's leading them after all!

I'm just wondering if your character's excursion into Cimerora is either

    a) Going to count against them when the Menders reveal what they're really up to or

    b) In fact be one of the events that trigger the arrival of the "Coming Storm". I can hear the wails of angst from here.

Still, a fair point and quite probably the reason why they don't award you the portal when you return as doing so would confirm that they know that you went. This way they can observe and feign ignorance.
