I'm not a huge one for playing the market but I was able to make 100 million on my level 20 Blaster just by 'vendoring' unwanted recipies from the market. Probably not the most efficient method of doing it but it worked so if you're starting with nothing, it's a relatively easy way to get going.

Please.... stop....
I'm late for work and if I laugh any more I might cough up a lung... -
The most obvious connection I can think of it my Sonic Blaster (The Amber Banshee) and my Stone Tank (Karnac) who are daughter and father respectively. I'd originally come up with her dad as the reason she got into hero business but as our RPSG progressed and the plot continued, he turned into a fun character in his own right.

We'll be here waiting for you when you return. Hope to see you in a few weeks.
Good luck with the poo bums. -
GG, I normally don't rise to your lamentable attempts to pitch server against server but just for once, ONCE, would it be possible for us to have a sane conversation about which server is more appropriate for this gentleman without your ill-informed and inflamatory contributions?
For someone who is generally helpful to the community I find your continual attempts to lambast any other server other than yours very disappointing.
And no, I don't give a flying whatever who's on which server. I just get tired of these kind of unhelpful comments. -
I use Sleep on two of my characters: my Sonic/En Blaster and my Mind/Ice Dominator.
They do mostly get used when soloing as they counter the aggro from a whole spawn and then let me apply single target damage selectively to them one at a time. I can though that with Storm as a secondary, you may not have that option!
I have used it effectively in teams, mostly when there's been an ambush or another mob aggroed by the team and we were in danger of being swamped under them all. I recall with some fondness being able to control three large spawns of Scrapyarders on my Mind Dom by Mass Confusing one, sticking Total Domination on another and Sleeping the third as they prepared to charge us. I was quite chuffed that day.
The other two things about Sleep is that it is resisted surprisingly little even by AVs and mobs who you wouldn't think would succumb to it. Also the IO sets for Sleep are dirt cheap and give some nice bonuses. Personally I love the Heal proc on both of mine as it can trigger on every target.
However, to get the most out of it, you have to be able to attack single targets, which outside of Dominate, Levitate and Mesmerise a Mind/Storm wouldn't have many of. -
Stalkers. I just don't know what it is, but even with the new buffs, they just feel like pseudo-scrappers to me with a few neat tricks.
I also tend to avoid matching sets and any FOTM, mostly although that is changing. Since my experience on a concept team, I love my Fire/Fire Blaster and I rolled my SS/Fire Brute a few years ago without knowing their position as 'farmer's favourite' (tm) on the red side.
So when I came up with a new character the other day and realised with a sinking heart that the appropriate choice of powersets for her was the ever popular Fire/Kinetics Controller, I just groaned out loud.
Still struggling with VEATs too but I think that's just a matter of time. -
Quote:Union is also the EU's unofficial RP server so if that's what you're looking for, you'll find more on Union. Still not as many as on Virtue but probably more than on Defiant.Point being I don't want to have to start my characters again, I like how I've developed them and can't face starting again, plus, I do not suffer from Altitis! (continuously doing the starting missions is already doing my head in)
I play my characters to death! Plus, Union is just another EU server, I wanted to change 'cos there seems to be more RPers on NA servers! -
When they first announced the Mission Architect, I seriously hoped that it would be like a holodeck with that room being the basis for what it looked like without anything loaded. Even though the MA has something a little similar, that room is just awesome. I really wish it got used for something spectacular.

Quote:It helps to be a polytheist in Paragon. There's an interesting repetition on the theme of divinity in CoH. The Banished Pantheon worships and tries to restore gods that have been banished, Statesman and Recluse are avatars of Greek gods and titans, the Rikti are genocidally anti-religious, the Circle of Thorns and the Descendents of Mu enlisted various divine(infernal?) creatures in their war, and the Shadow Shard may be the mind of a broken god.

You are correct. Union is the EU's unofficial RP server.

I can recommend either Kin/Ice or Kin/Dark.
Both have some nice controls that Kinetics lacks. Plus, Kin/Ice can stack some nasty slows on its foes. -
Quote:If it was this, it would turn into one of those dreams where I run down the street naked whooping with joy.Testing a server that allows more than 50 people in a zone, and without any lag as well, and merging the EU and US server lists
(not the servers), and allowing us to merge our EU and US accounts..
Bugger, I woke up
Or maybe it's only me that gets those dreams. -
My second 50 and my 'main' as such is a Sonic/Energy Blaster although I've played Devices a bit on other toons as well.
What you have rolled yourself is a very strong soloing Blaster with some excellent crowd controls. You'll be great solo by sleeping a mob then mining them or even setting up a field of Trip Mines and Shockwaving a mob back onto them. In a team, you've hardly ever use Siren's Song or any of your Devices aside from Caltrops but you'll definitely still be useful. Caltrops is always good on a large spawn and being able to stun annoying mobs from range is a godsend sometimes. Even at 50, teams get used to me stunning Malta Sappers as the Tank's running in. You're no Controller but the soft controls and -res effect are defiinitely appreciated, especially against hard targets such as AVs as others have said.
In terms of damage, you will end up being overshadowed on teams by more AoE focussed Blasters as they can wipe out vast numbers of foes as long as they're controlled or taunted in some way. You won't be the most damaging but you'll still do great against single targets.
As a tip for playing in teams, I find targetting through a melee toon is really handy. The Scrapper or Tank can go to town on a target while you blast them and apply the -res effect so that both of you benefit from it.
It's a nice set and I hope you have fun with them both. -
But do they dream of electric sheep?
-
I like to toughen up my Blasters but I find the Fighting pool of limited use on them. If you want to enhance your survivability, I tend to find the Medicine Pool and Leaping Pool the most useful. Also you can get far better Defence out of IOs than you will out of Weave.
Also the values for Blasters are pretty low so not really worth the trade off in terms of slots and power picks and endurance. -
That's great, thanks for the info. With a bit of squeezing of set bonuses, I've found the extra slot so I think I'd rather have Fluffy hit better, especially on a team build.
Many thanks. -
Quote:When in RP, all things said out of brackets are 'in character' or IC as in, what the character is saying.I think the {{}} is to indicate whether they are talking in character or out of character - I can't remember which the Brackets indicate
Things ((in double brackets)) indicate 'out of character' or OOC as in, what the player is saying. -
Hi folks.
After having spent a lot of time on my other toons, I'm coming back to my first level 50, my D3 which I'd forgotten could be so much fun on teams. In trying to get a bit more pleasure out of playing him, I've been slotting for damage buffs and defence while still maintaining the usefulness of all the powers however one question has arisen that I don't know the answer to.
Fluffy is so difficult to slot given his multiple powers and how many sets go into him but one thing is universal, I've always tried to give him some accuracy slotting. However on this build, I'm struggling to find slots and have had to sacrifice the accuracy slot I would normally give him. None of the sets in him enhance his accuracy so I'm pretty much relying on his base accuracy. What is other people's experience of this? Will he suffer without that accuracy or is it necessary. My build doesn't contain anything like Tactics so he won't be receiving any external buffs (not that I'm sure that Tactics would buff him).
Worst scenario is I take the second slot out of Fly and resign myself to being a bit slower.
Thanks -
No gatecrashing intended. I may have misinterpreted the original post. If there's no good IC reason to be there then it would be gatecrashing, apologies.

So this is an invite for friends of the New Vigilants to come and mess up their base tomorrow night? Sounds like fun. I reckon there might be a few folks from The Militia who'd be only too happy to attend.

I'm not ungrateful for the free transfers in the EU. It's helped me ship off a few lesser played alts to Defiant which means I have characters there I can play if I wish and a few extra slots on Union so that I can succumb to more altisis. But with many more servers to play on, the present is going to be far more relevant to those not on the EU servers.
I try not to dwell on it too much as I still enjoy the game but the zones do feel more and more empty every time I log on. It's become so bad these days that I've started an account in the US for when I fancy teaming.
Please US Devs, thow us guys and gals a rope here. The different between the US and EU is tangible. When I first entered Atlas Park in the US, it felt like it was four years ago when I first arrived on the EU servers. There were actually people in the zone *gasp!* talking! -
