There's a sticky thread at the top of the Roleplaying forum but it's become a little out of date and confused since the forum merger. You could always have a look down there and see if anything suits you.
IIRC, the most active RPSGs in game at the moment are The Corporation, Unity Vigil, The Militia, Nighthunters. There may be more and these may vary in how IC they get. Check them all out and swing by the Militia forums if you fancy taking a look (link in sig).
Good luck. -

I'm going to heal you... BY SETTING YOU ON FIRE! And then protect you from further damage. BY SETTING YOU ON FIRE! I can make you deal more damage. BY SETTING YOU ON FIRE! (Well, actually that might work...)
Or, my Cold Domination friend can protect you by freezing you solid.
Placate is the big one for me. I just can't deal with it.

Awesome. I enjoyed the last one lots so I'll be sure to come to this one too. Given The Atavist's occupation as a trader in arcane goods, this could well be the event for him. See you there!

Already begun one. Although we can't form the SG, we're working through Praetoria as a team for now and we'll see what happens when we leave. Who knows, we could all be on different sides and ready to kill each other by then. All depends on where the RP takes us. -

Quote:It really depends on what happens in Issue 19 and 20.
There's been rumours about Rulaaru and the threat of the Praetorian Invasion. Either one of them would have super groups reacting, which would present the natural opportunity for supergroups to co-ordinate their efforts with others, like with the Rikti War Council, but different. I'm not sure of the how's, why's or where's, but it's just something to keep in mind.
If X comes to fight, then the UV at least will react. I'm sure the Militia will as well, and The Corporation, and every other SG/VG out there.
What comes from that comes down to initiative, what fits, and working with what is given to us in the invasions/attacks.
I'm not sure I'd want to Colony Drop Unity Station. It's gorgeous inside.
Amen to that. The nice thing about the Rikti invasions was that most of the hard work was done by the Devs. We just needed to respond to it. -

Quote:Just to say that train tickets and a hotel booking will be done for me early this week, however my main reason for posting is this.....
Recently there has been, shall we say, "A Spirited Debate" going on involving members of the Union server. And it is still ongoing it seems.
Now I've been holding myself back from diving into that said thread and foot stomping on full fury like a mad man just so I can post here first and even then with some restraint here.
It would be appreciated that those coming to the meet up leave some certain types of "baggage" at home and not bring it to Birmingham with them. If you all must carry on with the debate or any other dark history between yourselves, leave it for the forum and other forms of digital space. If you can't keep any potential conversation with someone on the other side of the fence quiet and civilised, do not bring your issues with each other to a real life meet!
There are going to be people coming that will be spending considerable money and giving up a lot of time and energy to get to Birmingham and the last thing they probably want to see is a mass argument and nerd rage.
If you choose to do so then don't be shocked if you suddenly get asked to leave the premises by those that work there.
And I say that to everyone! Regardless of which side I might take in a debate, if you start any trouble, even if I agree with your viewpoint, I'll be voting to have you removed from the building by it's staff.
That is all
All the best and see you down there.
Um, wow. That's quite a hefty post right there. And I'm a little disheartened at the aggressive tone as well. I think it goes without saying that anyone being an idiot should take it elsewhere and not ruin the weekend for others. No need for threats of eviction really.
Just um.... wow, still taken aback at this... -
Quote:The thread is well and truly derailed but being all GG against CB? Not true. I'm not a GGer either. I simply got involved because we discussed in SG chat and it looked like it could have far reaching events in the Unionverse. This thread seems to have derailed in to Galaxy Girl roleplayers vs Cactus Brawler and every other roleplayer who doesn't subscribe to the GG way of thinking.
And CB has been very accommodating so I'm grateful. -
Quote:Again we're back onto differences of scale. None of my characters know Annette so they wouldn't get involved. Even if there was a nationwide search for her, one missing person does not demand the same response as 1,000 dead children. If you've got any good reasons why anyone who calls themself a hero (or even cares about childen such as some of my villains) would callously turn away from such a national tragedy, I'd love to hear them. Now to say CB's plot forces others to react is not true, just like the current GG Find Annette plot does not force other players to react. Yes CB's plot would cause a massive counter strike, but there are plenty of reasons for any character to treat it a a backgorund News story, given the vast number of heroes comparde to villains its unlikely that there would be enough bits of the Court to go around.
Quote:Finally, and i think this is important, CB is out there making plots that allow ANYONE to become involved in, if they wish to, what ever other faults they may have, that must be a good thing, can other say the same of there RP and plotage ?
For what it's worth, I appreciate CB's work and agreeing to adjust his plot. If I haven't said it before, thank you. -
Quote:*Imagines his 9ft tall, 6ft wide male tanker using the female walk animation... shudders a little*I like this as well but mostly for the "Walk" power. I think the easiest way to do that would be to just enable both walk animations for both sexes, seems simple enough to me.
Not sure how I feel about that... -
I've seen some pretty amazing posts on this forum requesting changes, powersets etc but this one tops them all. Thanks for the laugh and the powerset looks fun.
Epic stuff.
I so want Brick ona Stick Melee now... -
There are certainly viable alternatives if you want to build such a villain. But as I said before, the problem is publicity or put another way, visibility. If the actions of the current villain I'm using for my plot were to become public knowledge, they'd generate the same kind of national response. But because they've kept their actions secret, only known to a few, and the heroes investigating of course, the public isn't alerted. Ergo, no-one needs to be involved other than those currently in the plot. Then there's things like time travel, alternate dimensions, hidden circles etc that can form artificial walls around those players who want to be involved in the plot and those that don't.
But once it spills out into the community, especially an event as big as this was initially, because of the shared world, there's an expected response otherwise it becomes chracter breaking to deny its existence IC.
Once again, it's not about being squeamish about the subject, it's about making sure you're not dragging other people into your plot unwillingly. -
Oh yes, yes indeed. The power button on my tower has a bright red, glowing ring around it which my daughter's little fingers inevitably head towards. She's almost two now so she will sit on my lap for 30 seconds and watch me play before smacking the keyboard and send me flying into a wall. Although she does love watching me incinerate level 1 Skulls with a Fire Ball.
The other day she took to putting her bib on backwards so it was like a cape before running around the garden with her arms stretched out like she was flying. So there's hope for the next generation of CoX players.
Oh and congratulations Shadowe. It's a tiring but wonderful experience. Good luck. -
*Sigh*
It's times like this, I wish I had the patience I did ten years ago. -
Quote:Way off base. It's apparent such a subject is too much of an emotive event for the Unionverse RP community as a whole, however. I guess that's a good thing, but if I was RP'ing a villain on the Union server, in such an environment...I'd feel that a great disservice had been delivered upon me, I'd probably piss the whole lot of you off, and completely withdraw from the RP community.
This has absolutely nothing to do with being able to handle mature subjects and everything to do with being godmodded into taking part in a plot we may not wish to. -
Awesome news. Thanks TBA.
As for building a female Huge model, that would require a whole load more modelling and then having to go through every costume part in game to make sure it fit, reworking it so that it did and making sure it didn't clip with other parts. In all, a massive amount of work.
So as much as I'd love to see it, I reckon it's unlikely. -
My She-Hulk ispired Brute would be happy just to have a texture similar to the male Bare Chest Muscular. Even if it was just the bikini top with an added texture of muscles.
However, as for changing the actual model themselves? That's a lot of work recoding things so all the costume pieces fit. I doubt that will ever become a priority. -

How far is too far? It’s hard to tell. I reckon one of the reasons plots like this come up is because we can’t achieve any real villainy in game. We’re always at the behest of the Big Bad without the opportunity to be the Big Bad ourselves. Kinda the same reason people end up with Uberpowerful characters. They want to advance beyond the boundaries of the game world. But that’s a completely separate debate.
I think there are two things that affect this: scale and publicity.
The first has been covered in detail by this thread and I liked how Cass summed it up. 26 people is a tragedy but one that can be left to others to deal with. 1,000 is an atrocity and calls upon the nation to respond. It’s made all the more emotive by having it be children, something that is guaranteed to press a lot of buttons and leave a distasteful flavour in some peoples’ mouths.
The other thing is publicity. In a recent plot, I had a villain collapse a little known alternate dimension, an entire world. But because such a thing doesn’t hit the newspapers (only a handful of people even knew about the existence of the dimension) the whole hero/villain universe isn’t alerted to the disaster. Likewise things that take place in arcane circles or happen off world or underground, they won’t make the headlines. However, with this one, the press were all over it, alerting the entire world.
Should we not attempt grand villainy? It’s a tricky one. This plot seems to have escalated to a ‘Dev Level Event’ as Pious called it and that’s where it becomes world altering. The problem with huge threats in roleplay is that they inevitably have to be neutered because in the end, we can’t alter the reality of the game world. Could I have The Atavist summon his Netherworld god to Earth so it could consume every soul? Sure, but he’d have to fail because it’s too reality breaking. Plus, there’s no good Cthulu models in game.
I’ve seen this kind of thing before on a smaller scale where a prominent building was supposedly blown up but others refused to acknowledge it. The alternative is that people explore villainy in other ways such as corporate menace or people suppression without needing to resort to blowing huge tracts of land up. Praetoria is a good example of how real villainy can be kept under wraps from the public at large.
I guess it’s up to the conscience of every GM to decide how the events will affect the wider RP world. Anyway, enough rambling from me. -
One of my characters has found a spot in Perez that isn't too bad for meditation.
Another uses the underground inlet on Circe Island in Talos (might need to kick some Thorns out of there first though).
And the floating islands in Ouroboros are pretty nice too. -
-
Actually, my apologies. My snarky response wasn't warranted.
But here's the problem. It's not about notification, it's about being forced to participate. It doesn't matter if you notified the entirety of the Unionverse, the event still forces participation due to its scale and the emotive subject being around children. These two things radically change the Unionverse to such an extent that no-one can ignore it IC anymore. -
