  1. No harm, no foul. I play devil's advocate poorly most of the time - even when it's most of what I do around here - and I have all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.

There has been a "mysterious fourth rank" hinted at in the various interviews (published, Hall of Fame, Devs' Choice, XXXXX)

    Maintenance.

I actually believe they datamined for the times that it takes place - before they started having regular maintenance times, mind you - and found that the time of the day they have it now is the most sparse.

Not if you pass out mid-mission.

My first couple of SGs have a couple of stories about how I passed out in the middle of the mission and didn't even twitch for a good 6 hours. My first phrase on waking up, "Hey, guys, where'd you go?" >_>
  5. Does your business sense factor in things like limited man-hours and return on investment?

It's easy to say "This should be done because people want it". It's hard to admit that "This is not a good investment because the engine is not designed to handle it. and rewriting the engine to handle it would take significant amounts of time and effort away from everything else for a relatively small return".

(please keep in mind that I'm avoiding giving my own opinion on any of it, except to focus on the notion that "if people want it, it should happen".)
  6. Because, last I checked, a developer at one point said that it was either impossible or not worth the effort (power customization is very high on the "list of things that people want", for example, but the amount of effort to do it is colossal) to do, putting it out of reach.

growth/shrinking relative to current size is one of those things. again, last I recall.
  7. Not if you pass out mid-mission.
  8. Basically, the recharge still does what it's intended to do - make the power itself recharge faster.
  9. In my opinion, the aux pools for every class do what they were designed to do - fill holes.

The things you list for all those ATs that are not melee all give them what tankers and scrappers already get from their primary and secondary - protection, and occasionally build up. The things that scrappers/tankers generally lack are Control, Team Buffing, and Ranged/Ranged Area Effect damage.

I'd like to see an aux pool that focuses on buffing/debuffing, healing, and the like, because I feel that tankers and scrappers already get heavy amounts of the things that are so highly valued in everyone else's aux pools, and because there are already a bunch of aux pools that give control and ranged/ranged AE damage.
  10. I'd still prefer an other-buff/support Aux more than Stuff That Is Already Had. Especially considering that something like Rage will probably make its way across during Proliferation.
  11. Not self buff (already had in secondary), other.

I'd like to see some stuff from Thermal along with a couple of the Blast skills in scrapper fire, personally.
  12. The most likely reason it's not in Pocket D is, from my estimation, that they don't want Co-op pre-35 outside of special events.

My opinion on this is mostly.. well, apathy. I just don't care.

I will be happy to concede when you can propose realistic criteria for a plaque which Tanker Tuesday has not already met.

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about "Part of the game backstory instead of a metagame concept generally isolated to a single server"?

Also, can I advise that you not use questions phrased in the manner of "Have you stopped beating your wife"? It gets irritating to those of us who are observing, after already registering our opinion.
  14. The problem is, for those who enjoy badge hunting, the badge is the reward, along with the accolades that provide permanent benefits. You seem to think they deserve more - others disagree.

Badging is already rewarded heavily with accolades, experience, and other things. It is questionable whether it needs further rewards.
  15. It's kinda a bad precedent. Once you start it, where does it stop? Should SGs who have lasted for 5 years get a plaque? Players? Characters?

Recognition? Yes, earned, deserved, completely. In -this- manner? I do not think so.

    Sub Classes

The clarification post indicated to me that it was supposed to grant powers from -other- ATs. The OP didn't say that. >_< I apologize - mea culpa. My perception of this comes from:

    [ QUOTE ]

Than you as a Blaster or Controller even a squishy Defender can gain the classes of say a tank or scrapper.

It pretty much explicitly said it would be for getting powers from other ATs.

And for precisely that reason, I say "not a chance in hell".
  18. Look at Longbow for the amount of work that would be necessary to make critters of any actual threat to fight at levels outside the one they're presented in.
  19. It would, if they hadn't explicitly said that merits were time v. reward.

as presented, the suggestion is exploitable, unless they figure out how to lock difficulty for the entire team at one setting when the team starts the TF.

In the future, they're looking at adding the ability to risk merits via challenge settings - if you succeed in the challenge, you get merits above baseline, if you fail, you get fewer.
  20. I dug around the history of the Wiki, and saw the line I think you both might have been referring to - but again, the lack of obvious difference between player commentary and in-game description makes me think it's someone commenting on the power, not part of the actual description.

(Yeah, sorry about the threadjack. >_&lt
  21. That's part of the problem with searching powers on the wiki - sometimes there needs to be a clear demarcation where Official Description ends, and Player Commentary begins. >_<

Oh well. I might as well get my shovel on.
  22. No, but my recollection is that knockback was never, ever mentioned in it, and that the power description focused on the fact that it was slower, cheaper than regular Fly, and provided defense. I also point out that while hovering no longer completely negates knockback, it still mitigates against it.

If it happened, someone will have a screenshot, somewhere (and yes, it's theoretically possible to photoshop it, but someone would have to be a huge jackass to do that, and it would essentially prove my point). Not attempting to be brusque, but if someone makes an assertion, then it is up to them to back it up.

I'd actually like to see that description, to be honest, out of sheer, morbid curiosity.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I remember in the description it even said this...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Screenshot, or it didn't happen.

Please do not be an example of precisely the kind of player that is a demonstration of why they don't state that kind of thing.
  24. Then plunk down the time, the effort, and the focus to get to that.

Speaking as someone who still has chronic altitis, but prefers merits.. I don't feel an overwhelming need to consolidate them, and I frankly don't mind it taking a while to get what I'm after. I'm patient. I've got a lot of characters. And I also don't particularly need to be OMGWTFPWNAGE to enjoy myself.
  25. If you insist on pre-I6 performance, then you are no longer a "casual" player. That's really all there is to it - the "casual" player does not need that. The casual player can play the game with just SOs and generics. If you expect to be able to put in minimal effort and get to the greatest heights of power immediately, then really, your expectations are flawed.
