Considering that you want to run Arkham Asylum, the first choice between those links is probably not going to cut it unless you like to play slideshows. I'm gonna suggest to you the same thing my dad did to me when my last video card died. If you can afford it go with something that you won't have to worry about having to replace it in 6 months. The 9800 linked above should do nicely.

If you're running a Celeron, you might have another problem there.

By the way who's requirements are those?
  2. So anyways I have played with my setting a while and never got it to work well so I going in the next month buy a new Graphics Card. What would people Recommend. I am looking for a NVIDIA so I can get away from the ATI problems I am having. The only games I am really going to run on it are this one and Batman Arkham Asylum. I run Xp, have 3 GB of Ram on a single core 3.2 GHz Celron
  3. Thanks for the help I give that a try!
  4. I recently [against my will] bought a Wide Screan monitor that 1680x1050. I installed it drivers but not changed my Video Card
[An ATI Radeon X300SE and I currently have the recomend ATI setting from the ATI thread. But the picture is very jerky and laggy, so I want to reduse the settings to rid myself of the problems but hopefully not suffer too much on the character quality [which is the most imporant thing for me, world Quality I can accept a loss on.
  5. There seems to be a major lack of a section to talk about forum improvements or problems. that would be something worth having as all most every other board I ever been on has such things.
Also there seems to be secotions of the Forum missing right now.

... Kings Row had.... well NOTHING in it? Only contacts. No stores, no helicopter, no market, no AE...

...there were no capes, because we didn't "have the tech working JUST right yet"?

...the Paragon Dance Party was hidden, and only certain people knew where to find it? Not surprisingly, it was almost always empty....

....there were no villains except the NPCs?

...you could go into Peregrine Island and NOT see a ton of very short "texting" messages float across your screen from people that were doing the same thing over and over?

....learning "window hopping" to get to the only places where CoT would spawn... at night on King's Row rooftops?

....Hami-Os were the coolest, rarest, and most powerful things around, and you were awed every time you saw one?

...the only "stuff" that you got you either earned yourself, or you traded directly with another character for?

...Outbreak had a final police officer instead of Coyote, and there was no Flower Knight?

...trading large amounts of influence was a pain in the butt, but it wasn't too bad, because it didn't happen often?

...City of Blasters allowed us all to hover WAY out of the range of enemies and destroy them with no retaliation?

    ...Wolf herding and dumpster nuking?

...NPC bugs that made them keep running up and jumping off of that same Kings Row "basement door" over and over again?

What are your memories, of the "good old days" when things were simpler?

Dark_Respite's Issue 14 Teaser is the only reason I am looking forward to the issue at all! It made me Want it NOW!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously? I've been chomping at the bit for the issue ever since I heard they were creating the Mission Architect.

But it seems a few folks agree with you, and my video is the only reason they're stoked for I-14, which is kinda sad. I want them to be stoked for I-14 coz the MA will (hopefully) rock, not just coz my video was neat.

Well it also inspired me to look again and demo editing maybe makeing my own videos. Certienly you can see the potental for that aspect which would be why it would appeal to you. I have not been enthused because there been so limited information out there. I suppose the idea that Close Beta started shortly after I watched it would have some bearing on it as well it is moving. After all this has been one of those Issue where you wonder if it is ever coming out.

She does - that's where I always get them. MUCH better quality there. The thing is, people don't find your video just cruising around and searching on random stuff if it's only on your website.

Copyright laws are a balance between two interests. The first is obviously for the artists/thinkers making these things. The law needs to be strong enough that they have a chance to earn some good money of their work and make a living, otherwise they won't do it - at least not professionally. The second is society, which can benefit more from a work once it enters the public domain. Machinima music videos are a fine example of why that's true. Right now, at least in this area, the balance is tilted far toward the artists' favor - so much so that it's more about the estates of the artists instead of the artists themselves!

And yeah, there is actually a lot of public domain music out there. Or you can try and get music off the old wax cylinders that have fallout... ahem... fallen out of copyright....

Much of that is Classical not something that makes one think of Superheroes. I suppose that you could do ride of the Valkaries, especially fitting given the new armour, however given that peice has been done to death in pop. media it would be a piece that lost its impact.

All servers besides Training Room show as "Unknown", not even "Down" which would imply someone knows what's going on and is fixing it. A very inauspicious start to one of the most-maligned issues in recent history.

For the record, I'm not a PvP doomsayer, but the fact is there has been a lot of negative feedback on this issue and a sense it was pushed before its time. This kind of thing does not help that perception.

I just wanna log in, enjoy the Kheldian love and get all my alts to work at their day jobs.

There seems to be the mistaken impression that I think that having the jet pack purchasable via the game cards was a good idea. No matter how it's sold, it still boils down to $$$ = gameplay advantage.

Also, I found out a little while ago (missed this in the announcement) that the Cyborg pack includes the self-destruction power that does extreme damage. Yes, it has a self-kill component, but incurs no debt, so it's basically a purchasable modified nova power. Yet another gameplay-affecting advantage for people willing to shell out the $$$. It won't take many more of these add-on packs before a player with money has characters with an insurmountable advantage over those who don't.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bull, You are taking it to extream, and not being realistic about it as many are in the Rant fest of Negativity coming from many of the Nay sayers. Flying is not an advanage in the game anyone can don a dozen ways for Sunday. Yes one can fly at level one. big deal first jet back is avalibe at level five, I can get to level five in an hour.

Self-Distruct was a well thought out theme power that matched cyborgs to a T. It Debt Free because of Balance issues. Debt can be abused for a number of preposes there for it Debt Free. Ye Self Distruct will have some Synergy with self rez powers. I don't understand your point but feel that the inconvince dying off sets it, and as I read it else ware on the forums, ally rez don't work on it.

So first we pay cash for wedding stuff. then for respecs. Now if we want the "neato" cyborg stuff we better pony up some green.

I thought I already bought this game and paid $15 a month for it.

Does this mean we are gonna have to pay for new AT's and powers now to? Oops, we do pay for new powers already.

I'll keep playin, but I ain't buyin. At least not until April of next year.

These booster packs just have little perks in them with a few emotes thrown in. Nothing game breaking...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Does anyone here besides me remember that when folks complained about the Valentine's Day add-on wedding pack was released, one of the big justifications for it being okay was that it didn't affect gameplay? That if you didn't want to buy it, you weren't missing out on anything, because emotes and costume pieces don't give you any advantage?

Now, we have add-ons being sold that do affect gameplay. Subpar or not, there's no denying that characters with the jetpack and self-destruction powers can do things--non-screen candy things that do make a difference in the game--that characters without them can't.

I remember a time not too long ago when even selling costume parts would have been thought way beyond the line. I remember a time when someone would have been called crazy for even suggesting that it could lead to selling powers. Yet here we are.

I'm genuinely curious, now that we've moved the line from gameplay-affecting to game-breaking, where is your limit of tolerance? Is everything fair game? What if they start selling access to new zones? Selling access to new archetypes? Selling access to task force/trial rewards? Straight out selling influence/infamy/prestige for cash?

I know, "Wow, that sure is melodramatic, Tony, that would never happen." That's what I thought about selling powers, too, but here we are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

All the Drama, none of the Entertaiment value, nothing is being done that MMOs haven't been doing for years. There is nothing game breaking about either power.

I can't decide if it's sad or funny that people are willing to pay for something they know will vanish after 30 days. It makes me remember a couple of old sayings.

"A fool and his money are soon parted." -Thomas Tusser

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well if I use the Jet pack, and it make things easier/funner for me for the price of a med. bag of beef Jerky or two bags of chips, what have I lost. Nothing, It can be worth it and I not a fool for buying something I find useful. In a world were people will spend 5 buck on a Starbucks Coffee paying for the name on the cup. Paying for 30 real day temp power is not foolish in my mind.

Damn these people were active, after reading 15 pages of this I want to blow myself up!

On to opinions about the Boosters.

I love the Cyborg pack, the features were great the Legs are outstanding! The Chest details were great I would have liked a Chest piece as well, as I do find that to be a weakness for Robots/Cyborgs. Was I the only one that saw the word Aura and knew that is be linked to the level 30 auras. Aura = Level 30 to me. I was quite Suprised at everyone misunderstanding of that. I would like to have seen a Half face opition of some kind that would have been cool. Self Distruct is awesome power and a lot of fun! I think it biggest "Abuse" will be as makeshift Travel power to quicly move around certien zones. Yes it limited by Hospitals tend to be near stuff that is useful.

The Much debated Rental Jetpack, I love it save it colours, I would have liked a more metal look with maybe a trim colour. It cheap enough for me to buy and we shall see if I buy it every month or not. It is a great way for my Natural Characters to get around, which I have to like.

Just thought I'd note that "variety" seems to be a recurring theme here. Not enough variety in enemies. Not enough variety in settings. Not enough variety in motives.

And for the devs, I know this is a hard type of content to do. It requires a lot of time to revise zones and add content.

But I bought CoV before CoH--I LIKE playing the villain role. And for several months, I wasn't interested in even looking blueside. But once I rolled one hero, I've rarely gone back to the redside--there's just so much more available to DO blueside. I haven't even done all the low-level story arcs heroside, with several heroes running. Villainside, if I have to get a lousy snake skin for Burke one more time... x.x

So I would ask the devs to consider how variety and playerbase interact. If the perspective has become "well, there's nobody playing villainside, so no point in putting more content there", it's self-fulfilling. People don't spend their time there because there's not enough new, and there's not enough new because people stay out.

I hope that the VEATs are the start of a change in this dynamic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To me the theory isn't that the Dev are not saying "people don't play villians, let not give them more content because it a waste of time." but rather heroes players being unwilling to allow a largely Villains Issue frome take place because of their outcry against it. Hense why new zones are quite often Co-op.

I have to say that Villians do need more zones barring that more low level contact for arcs. The second tear could have moe than one arc for example.
