New 1680x1050 monitor

I recently [against my will] bought a Wide Screan monitor that 1680x1050. I installed it drivers but not changed my Video Card
[An ATI Radeon X300SE and I currently have the recomend ATI setting from the ATI thread. But the picture is very jerky and laggy, so I want to reduse the settings to rid myself of the problems but hopefully not suffer too much on the character quality [which is the most imporant thing for me, world Quality I can accept a loss on.

What resolution are you running in windows and what resolution for CoH? I am concerned the X300 will have a tough time with 1680x1050. Also, try playing with the anti-aliasing in the 3D settings, 4x or less I would say or even off.

Have you tried windowed mode yet?

I'd agree, turn it to 2x or off. the higher resolution should mean less of a need for FSAA, though don't quote me on that. Either way, less FSAA will mean less work on that card and hopefully give you more frames

Try running the game at the resolution you had it at before the monitor upgrade or, if you're in windowed mode already, try changing your desktop resolution when you play the game back down. Of course, since you got the monitor [against your will] you might consider getting yourself a beefier graphics card [against your will] so you could enjoy the monitor at its true potential.

Lowering your resolution does seem to be a possible solution. Kind of a drag, but such is life. Honestly, everyone I know who's upgraded to a widescreen monitor has loved it, myself included, so once you get your settings sorted I think you're really gonna dig it.
