  5. I think your mistaken on the not very many new powers.

    Issue 1 - APP's (granted some of these aren't new but it did add new things to the existing AT's)

    Issue 3 -Kheldians

    Issue 5 - Archery,Sonic

    Issue 6 - Villain AT's

    Issue 7 - PPP's

    Issue 9 - IO's (while technically not powers, it most certainly was the powers team that did this work)

    Issue 12 - SoA

    Issue 18 - Dual Pistols,Electric Control,Kinetic Melee, Demon Summoning

    Issue 19 and 20 - Incarnate

    and lets not forget Dual Blades,Shield Defense,Earth Assault, Pain Domination and the various proliferations that sometimes required new powers to be made, done throughout the lifespan though I forget specific issues.

    Also keep in mind that from issue 7 to I think it was 13 the development staff was very small (under 20)
  6. As a pet PA would use it's own tables for it's damage.

    And the argument the Illlusion doesn't benefit from Dom feels weak to me considering half of Elec doesn't benefit from it already.

    Well except for the damage cap increase you've stated the main things I would like to see Stalkers get.

    As for team buffs, I think what we have now is actually better than what your suggesting. Right now Stalkers gain a higher crit chance when teamed that scales up to 33% per attack.

    Higher Crit is better than a damage buff, because crits aren't directly effected by the cap a 100 damage attack that crits deals 200 damage, a 100 damage attack with an 80% damage buff deals 180 damage. So for teams the higher crit is better.

    Also if the Stalker damage mod where increased to the same as Scrappers a higher damage cap wouldn't be necessary as Stalkers and Scrappers will be doing the same basic damage, but Stalker Crits would put them ahead of the Scrapper in overall damage.

    The Fight Style thing worked like this....

    At creation each character would pick a fighting style. The available styles were Archery,Pistols,Rifle,Two Handed Weapons,One Handed Weapons,Dual Weapons, Staff, Martial Arts and Super Strength(it's possible I'm missing 1 or 2)

    They would then pick a power set from Fire,Ice,Sorcery,Nature,Tricks&Traps, and 2 others that I'm forgetting.

    Each power set had two trees and between your style and powers you could make a very unique character. At one point my Dual Wielder had twin Claymores for the lols.

    Overall I liked the Style/Power system. My problems with the game came from the mind numbingly repetitive end game. I liked the game but not as a subscription MMO.

    Sometime I honestly wish Wyvern replaced 50% of Longbow red side. I find them more interesting and their operating procedure less distasteful.
  14. well a PBAoE repel is useful as a get off of me move. Especially for Stlakers since it's a knocback/down which is plenty of time for a Placate>Crit.

    Of course that's only useful as a click not as atoggle.

    repulse fails because it's a toggle that's better used as a click.
  15. Oddly the only problem I had tanking Bobcat, was that I was on a Stalker and she lost interest in flailing at me pointlessly. I don't remember the exact team make up but I was consistently between 60 and 80% Defense thanks to Divine Avalanche.

    Again only problem was that she got bored attacking me.

    EDIT: forgot to mention this was without Barrier.
  16. We all want new sets for Stalkers. Several of us want the devs to design the set for Stalkers first then worry about porting to others but it's never been done that way so far.

    Stalkers have always had some concerns about game play and team viability. When Stalkers first got buffed it helped a bit but those concerns were still lingering around. Fast forward to GR and Side Switching is now available. Since teams are limited to 8 (not counting leagues) and Scrappers and Stalkers have very similar team roles the two AT's are realistically competing with each other for team spots. The same concern happened for Brutes and Scrappers and lo and behold Brute numbers were changed.

    So it's only natural for Stalkers to raise the same concerns that have always lingered. Granted half of it is a perception problem which the devs can't really change, but the other half is a problem with numbers which can be changed.

    Scrappers numerically are more survivable than Stalkers. this comes from the Hit Point values each AT uses.

    Now Stalkers were given a buff in that their Crit rates will improve the more teammates they have within 30ft up to a 33% crit rate. Our resident number crunchers(specifically Arcanaville) did some calculations that showed when a Stalker operating at the 500% damage cap and the 33% crit rate will just barely pull ahead of a Scrapper at their 500% damage cap and 10% crit rate(Boss/EB/AV number) if i remeber correctly the overall damage difference was 5-10 points.

    To me that feels wrong.

    that was the last comment on Stalkers from the Devs. Specifically Castle who was the powers guy before he left the Dev team. It's a post responding to Stalker concerns as a change was made to Brute damage caps and Fury generation making sure that they never out damage Scrappers, presumably due to the Higher HP threshold Brutes have.

    I think it's a paper mission, but it's one of those things that stands out.

    That's why I said MaxHp rather than current HP, although now that I think about it more there could be all sorts of problems when leveling.
  21. What kills me more than anything else is that two combos are tied up at Build-Up>AS>finisher

    Such a terrible design decision.

    Placate ending Empower is fine,

    A combo ending off of As is also fine

    But Both?

    Why do I have to choose between using Sweep and Empower with about a 30 second delay before I can use the other?

    WHY??!!!
  22. I don't realistically see a way for the problems unresistable damage on AS would cause. But that's more a problem with the engine and how its coded rather than a fault with the suggestion.


    Although thinking about things again, I wonder if the scaling AS damage idea could be done in a way that it calculated damage based off of MaxHp rather than rank?

    For those unfamiliar with this idea...

    The premise was that As would deal bonus damage based off of a mobs rank. This worked great for several things with a notable exception being AV/Hero class enemies that were scaled down to Elite Bosses. The problem was with the game and how it decided whether something was an AV or an EB. the result being AV damage against EB targets.

    I don't remember if Max Hp was considered back then, but I believe it was a problem since we didn't have separate rules for PvP at the time. Now that we have separate PvP rules it might be plausible for AS damage to scale based off of MaxHP.

    Gamblers doesn't really hit twice though.

    It makes 1 attack roll that if successful deals it's damage in two parts.

    the Dual Blades powers are the same way, as is Shadow Maul in Dark Melee.

    Basically it's 1 check per attack roll.

    That's why things like Waterspout,Caltrops and Rains are Proc monsters.As they are constantly making attack rolls, they constantly get to check for Procs. Although there is a built in once per 10 Seconds clause on those powers for PROCing.
