    No Winter Gala?

Reminder: Virtue's Annual Winter Gala is at 5pm Tonight (about 30 min from the time of this post)!

We hope to see many of you there.

    The Cape status

Last night during a Costume Contest, a player who hates The Cape was shouting some lies. We are not infected with a virus, we do not have a trojan that will cause you password problems.

As always we do our best to be a part of the Virtue community, and will continue to do so with Events, shows, and promoting SG/VGs.

I will not name the person's global handle or character name here, as the information has been sent to the GMs. I will say this. It is sad that some people have to act so childish that things like this happen. We at the Cape are grateful that the majority of Virtue, and CoH players are cool and respectful enough to each other.

Thank You for your time, and I hope everyone is able to show up at the annual Winter Gala this Saturday!

    DJ Shecky

Why have the discussion spread over two different threads when you can consolidate the information into one thread? Seems to be more economical for those trying to find information or those answering questions.

But then, I guess I just prefer using a bit of common sense. From meeting DJ Shecky I'd say he's pretty much into using common sense as well. I'd also say he's aware of the fact that my post was done without malice, merely an informational post to point him to the existing discussion.

That link can also serve to point anyone else looking for information to the other thread as well.
I know it was done without Malice. I always forget there is a Players Questions forum.

As it is, we got a response here and the other thread hasn't Thanks Beastyle.

I"m hoping that it is tomorrow, I'm going to be out of the country without access to CoH while the majority of the event is going on, so to get a few days would be nice.

    Winter Event???

Anyone have any idea when its happening?

Only thing I find is off events on the main web page, and that is still listing last years dates.

This. Set it to maximum deifficulty and the team will slow down or die. Incarnates are meant to be powerful.
And I can understand that, but the problems arise for those who don't want that power or want to feel useful without it.

If I am a Level 50 without any incarnate stuff on a team that has Maxed the Difficulty so that they can't one shot everything, I tend to be just as useless as if they were steamrolling through everything. Can't hit much, don't do much damage, don't debuff enough, etc...

What I am seeing is a gravitation toward the power gamer instead of the casual gamer.

Just remember, "When Everyone is Super, No one is."
  7. To be quite honest, Incarnate powers are a big reason I stopped playing so much. that and the rate which new stuff is churned out. Way too fast for a casual player like me.

why do I say way to fast, well, it seems that if I don't "Keep Up with the Joneses" (get all the new stuff) I stand around high level missions or TFs and do nothing. I sit there bored, and wondering why I even bother.

On the other side, it has made me focus on playing some lower level Characters a bit more, but even then they eventually will get into the boring zone.

The idea of actually building a character is gone also, because the Incarnate stuff makes ATs obsolete. Strategy? Fuggetabouit. Actually feeling like a hero defeating impossible odds? No longer.

City of Heroes appealed to me because it was a different game, one not about the grind. Now that feeling is gone. Rush to 50 and rush to get your incarnate stuff.

To the question of why is the GTS 250 a problem: I have a GTX 260, Phenom II and 8 GB of RAM, I get about 60 FPS. I had a 250, and got about 30-40, I borrowed a 460, and got 80+ depending on where I was.

I would also do as houtex suggested, hit up MSCONFIG and try to disable anything in there that isn't needed.
I'm running a GTS 250 and don't have any issue with it. I run with Ultramode pretty much maxed out, and get around 40FPS. No its not an uber FPS, but its definitely not a problem for most people. no 10-15 FPS, that would be a problem.
  9. Yep, they did something to the code. Course it will get fixed probably around the time that in-game e-mail gets the ability to scroll, and the Login remember box actually works again.

Forum fixes are just not a high priority.
  10. Sorry folks, but I don't use an SG base, and I still get the flickering, so that is not the cause of it. I have also noticed since I21 came out a much heavier load on my GPU than before.
  11. I used to run a monthly RPvP show, rotating zones. Unfortunately it dropped to only a couple of us doing it so I stopped due to lack of participation after 2 years of doing it. During the height of it, everyone had a blast, and understood not to take the PvP aspect too seriously since we have everything from new pvpers to vets there.

    Batman gets meds

Actually in the forum rules it says:

    10. Avoid using profanity.

Profanity in any form is prohibited. Using any means to bypass the profanity filter (for example: partial masking, such as asterisks or punctuation marks) is prohibited. This rule also includes any images displayed on the forums, or any pages directly linked to from the forums.
  13. Honestly. For M&Gs and cross server events it is the easiest way to keep track of stuff. Using a forum like General Life is awful because of the amount of traffic on that forum. Any events will get lost, unless stickied by one of the Mods.

I can understand the need for forum consolidation, but one that is useful to players being removed and thereby making it hard for the community as a whole to stay a community is poor thinking.
  14. For Player events, Especially the Meet and Greet notices it was invaluable to have all that information in one place to look. For instance, I"m on Virtue, but I run a M&G in chicago every year which I invite people from any server to come to. Now I need to post that information in every single Server forum? Isn't that against the rules and considered Crossposting? what about people who play on multiple servers and use a single events forum to keep up with events going on?
  15. I noticed this morning that the Player Events forum is missing. Posting anything into the one forum left (now for discussion and events and announcements) for an event is going to get lost way too quick. Am I the only one who really cares?
  16. got 3 of them pretty quickly. Still don't see the other 2.

YEah its the Launcher. I noticed that last night. They are going to be in Paris it said.

Glad to see the people across the pond get some love with that.

Wait, We get Zwill AND Sexy Jay and you got a deal!
  19. As a midwesterner, this makes me happy. They were out on the east coast for PAX East. You guys shouldn't be hogging them all. :P

  22. Oh man, I missed Ascendant. Dammit. I had to leave to sleep. Stupid work thing.

Seriously though, that was one amazing trip down memory lane. Characters I haven't seen in years, good RP (the kind of stuff the base system killed), and lots of fun.

With nobody to train you except a computer which doesn't necessarily have the information, and you need to hack first, it's not a cake walk.
Ok, so you are making the assumption that the computer might not have the knowledge. Considering the Computer knows about the Time splitters in the engine, we can make more of an extrapolation that it is more likely the computer would have that information.

Now consider how easily a human can learn something, especial when there is nothing to distract them. You can see it all the time in modern society, especially with how fast technology improves or is created in this day and age.

The tools for us to go to the Moon were created in under 10 years from scratch.

Now a computer that can recreate the gardens and other things like it does, plus be able to keep the split time streams. Now add on that Amy said she had figured out how to get the computer to give her any and all information she wanted, that definitely would fall under your hacking statement.

As far as the episode goes, I have some theories as to what they are doing with the this one and the prior one to set up for the finale and how they fit into the overall storyarc of the season, and most of it seems to be with the Doctor's relationship with others and his persona.

    I'm a Sidekick!

Welcome to Virtue. Please feed the catgirls, do not feed the puppeh and enjoy your stay!
  25. Interesting concept. After reading your site it sounds like people have to really know the Dresdenverse to be a part of it, mostly to keep things from contradicting anything else in the Dresdenverse.

I hope you find others that join you. If I could keep things straight and knew the universes well enough I might have joined you.
