oh man... I always thought CoH would be here... i finally get stabilized enough to come back... and it's going forever.
I wonder if there is any way to get ownership of our characters once it shuts down... -
Electric Blast
ok this one has been mentioned a couple of times before but I felt like people missed a few points.
1. Animation times are too long
This goes for Short Circuit and Tesla Cage. Short Circuit is a PBAoE that requires the caster to spend a long time in melee range, which can be the most dangerous for any blaster. Additionally Short Circuit's damage does not compensate for the long animation time. Tesla Cage's animation just has no reason to take so long and be so ugly. If these two powers keep the same animation time the damage should be adjusted to reflect that.
2. A blaster is not a controller
It's nice to be able to drain a lot of mobs to zero endurance when I'm on a team with others. However a blaster's main focus should be damage and I don't feel that the lack of damage in the set should be because of the endurance drain present.
3. Tesla Cage as a tier 3
You've seen this before and I would like to explain myself a bit. The tier 1 and 2 recharges on elec blast are 4 seconds and 8 seconds respectively. Normally that's not a problem but in a blast set with already low damage attacks, and no tier 3 attack, it causes a problem. So if the recharge times remain the same on the tier 1 and 2, Tesla Cage should become the tier 3 blast much like Cosmic Burst from the Radiation Blast set.
4. Voltaic Sentinel
I've thought about if VS should have lightning bolt at it's disposal but that might make the pet a tad overpowered. Either way, this pet needs to last longer in combat.
5. Tesla Cage and Voltaic Sentinel
It's probably a bit too much and might break the set, but on a personal note I'd love to see TC as a tier 3 blast and be able to keep Voltaic Sentinel -
Electric Blast:
been using it for 3 years, it's absolute trash in every way. -
Voltaic Sentinel is only a small part of the issues plaguing Elec blast...
Honestly VS could be used well in the set, but it's currently NOT. -
No, not as a primary!
How come there isn't MA secondary for blasters? It seems like it would be great for a concept Duel Pistols character, or even something to go with Archery and Assault Rifle.
I know it would need some serious utility tweaks but it would really be great to have another "natural" secondary. -
So I've decided that I'm done with Elec blast. It's a bad set, just bad. On my E^3 blaster I've gotten all my Incarnate slots filled with the tier 4. Still I suffer with Elec blast.
Elec Manip is a great set, certainly one of the best of blaster secondaries. I'd rather have the Elec Melee version of thunderstrike, but whatever it's a good set.
Elec Blast - never again. -
Sooo....
I'm between the two, with either one I'll have the same bonuses but I'm not sure if the AoE immob is worth going all the way to villain and back for. Should I stick with Electrical Mastery and use my first immob on /elec, or crossover and forsake it for the immob in Mu Patron?
Is it worth it? -
Man I really liked Tabula Rasa... wish it wouldn't have shut down.
if CoH ever shuts down I hope to be able to purchase the rights to my character(s)... now THAT would be great to me.
I wonder if we would be able to use our old characters in some way in CoH2... -
I know I've been away for a while but I never thought people would seriously be discussing fiteklub...
Oh well, I ran an Elec/Elec blaster seriously in PvP so it's not like I have room to talk :P -
After reading the posts I've decided to go with scrapper. Thanks for the input guys!
-
I went for ranged defense on my E^3 blaster.
also you may not want to copy this exactly since I have incarnate abilities to help me not die from my 6 toggles.

I know brute damage can get very massive with fury but scrapper damage is decent from the beginning. I have several scrappers and brutes but I'm still undecided.
As for my playstyle, I like to be in the middle of battle and plan all my attacks around keeping the team safe/alive.
I even play like this on all my blasters, just keeping a close eye on everything around me and ensuring no one gets knocked out.
I do love massive damage though and TW looks good but I won't be able to get it till next month. -
I want to run a TW/WP scrapper or brute, but I'm not sure which would be better for my playstyle though.
Can you list some pros and cons for each? -
Elec blast in general is just very situational, it's not enough single target and not enough AoE. The recharges on it's tier 1 and 2 are disproportionally BAD when you count that it doesn't have a tier 3. I like Voltaic Sentinel but it doesn't last that long and I feel like I can't produce a good single target attack set at all. I spend almost all of my time in melee so that I can do moderate damage at best and use my end drain. End Drain itself however is very situational as it is all or nothing and while an enemy has any endurance left the secondary power might as well not exist.
It's lackluster everywhere, damage, recharge, single target, multi-target, secondary effect, pet, nuke, EVERYTHING.
Yes I can use it, I've pretty much perfected the art of elec blast but that doesn't mean it's a good set. Can I just roll a better primary set? Of course I can, I would really just like to see Elec blast not suck. I'm attached to my favorite character and it's the one I have the most badges, accolades, enhancement sets, and everything on. I've spent a lot of time and a lot of inf on my favorite character. Elec blast still sucks and my character will still only be good in very specific circumstances.
Why can't a blaster do good damage? -
wow... they actually nerfed the end drain? I can't even comprehend this right now.
I play an elec/elec blaster though so I was always Short Circuit -> Power Sink -
So i'm sort of an Elec everything kind of guy.
So has Elec blast been changed/buffed in the two years I've been gone? Does it still suck badly? -
-
I have a sonic/sonic def or a ill/rad troller
which would be more helpful? -
general survivability here, what looks like it could be improved?

I like how all the E^3 blasters (including me) are thinking about the damage increase. With Assault on I run at 33% to start plus whatever I get from defiance. my endurance is always fine and there isn't a power that comes up too slowly for me, damage is where it's at IMO.
