Another brilliant piece! I'm always blown away with how unique and detailed each cityscape looks -- how many city building models did you use on this one?
And not to mention keeping the color theme consistent -- huge thumbs up yet again sir! -

I know this isn't art related but...
Anyone else watching the new BSG? I think it is THE best show on tv. I am mental for the show! Last week's episode was amazing. I think I pee'd a little!
[/ QUOTE ]
Totally agreed -- not just the best sci-fi show ever, but possibly the best drama on TV EVER. It uses science Fiction perfectly as a way to look at real dramatic issues from the real world and examine them in a fantasy setting. Betrayal, loyalty, love, sacrifice, even terrorism, abortion and the horror of s*xual assualt. Both sides can be explored and played out without bias.
Not to mention the brilliant acting and fanatastic special effects. Incredible show. -
Being a fellow digital artist, I can relate to the feeling you must have had when it crashed, and now the profound joy you must be felling on getting everything back! Woot!
Now back up those files lady!! -
Foo - great poses and storytelling in this pic! Love the CoT outside too.
And Future Hiro ftw!! -
Pep-
It looks awesome and you made a fun, bold choice with the pose!
My only comment would be to look up reference for the face -- it seems a tiny bit small compared to the rest of the body.
Excellent work all around! Can't wait to see the finished product! -

Couple tidbits while I work... Brandon McKinney did the most AWESOME rough sketch of Say, but I'm not sure if I can share it yet so I'm holdin back. He's tossed the gauntlet so now I hafta turn it up a notch or two or three...
Crimson Storm lil itty bitty sketch

LOVE the Crimson Storm sketch SayterraThe life and action just captured in your quick sketch is incredible. Can't wait for the finished artwork!
And HERE'S What I roughed out of our favorite goat girl. Art trades are fun! -

More stuff!
Zapros
Technobolt
Rowr (in the right clothes)
Part of an art trade with CyberLynx Crimson Storm
Now in Ink! cause I bought a pen...not the greatest but, meh.

Quake -- these look really good! I dig the dark shapes on her legs and arms where you made her costume dark red and the pose is really nice!
When you get more comfortable with that pen you should try a brush pen too -- much easier to get the thick & thin lines like in coimics.
I appreciate your doing the CS art! -

You have naked photos of Brandon with a goat don't you?
That must be it!
[/ QUOTE ]
Excuse me sir!!
I was fully clothed in those shots and it was no goat!
It was Sayterra -

You know who's the inspiration CB? That would be you my friend!Who else has a 250+ thread going since the beginning of these forums? I would love to see your rendition of Crimson Storm!
-
Gill -- that's amazing. Great to see your work in print! And they chose some of my favorite pieces of yours to feature in the magazine.

If some of you will recall, many months ago, Douglas Shuler, aka Darkjedi did this amazing piece of my character Crimson Storm:
Crimson Storm by Doug Shuler
As part of our trade3, I did this so-so digital painting of his character Sapphire.
After too many months, here's the finished piece to complete our trade for CS:
LightSpeed vs. Warp Speed color.
I also did an art trade with the very talented Veikera. He did an incredible version of C. Storm in his own inimitable style:
Crimson Storm by Veikera
In return, I drew Honor Fist . Man, these art trades are FUN!
Soon to come, a trade with Sayterra! -
Happy Birthday Darkfang! You've got a great lady if she gives you the gift of art!
And Graver, I've missed drawing the Carnies since issues 3 & 4 of the Blue King run of the COH comic. I do miss drawing Apex Warwitch and Horus running around in Paragon. It's the monthly deadlines of pencilling and inking 22 pages that I don't miss all that much...
And thanks go out to Ravensbane for art directing this piece as well. It was a lot of fun to do. -
DJ-
Yet another amazing piece! One thing I've noticed is how well you tie the background in with the color theme of the character.
I always look forward to your latest works.
And congratulations to Starchasm as well! No easy feat what you did. -

Hey Brandon whats the deal with that anyway?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow -- haven't thought about the COH comic in a while. Fun as heck to do -- it's what brought me here to the Forums in the first place.
I was lucky enough to get hooked up with the groovy cats at Blue King -- one of whom was the writer Rick Dakan, a co-creator of the game. Blue King had a year-long contract with NC Soft that had an option to renew. They just didn't renew the option. I'm guessing they thought Top Cow would bring more prestige to the comic itself, especially in the comic stores.
I really liked the stories we did as well. Very down to earth, as if the main characters were players just like all of us. It was an experience reading some of the posts for and against the book. Both the writing and the art took some verbal beatings, but there were some nice words as well. And since my style's kind of old fashioned, some people HATED the art.
Still our book was read by the 100,000+ players of the game and I met some cool people both in real life and on these forums because of it.
As far as commenting on the new art, can we download issue #15 yet? How did you see it Gill?
And you should send stuff out to Top Cow, Mr. Kindred. I'd love to see some of your panel-to-panel stuff. I know your figures, backgrounds and dynamic action are brilliant. You'd draw a hell of a COH comic book story. Although there would be a queue of bummed out art patrons for a while.

I stopped reading when they canned Brandon, so I can't comment on the stories. I've continued to buy it more as a novelty than anything else (but they remain unopened).
[/ QUOTE ]
Awww, man! Now I really miss drawing the book! Thanks Doug! -

Very nice work Brandon! I think you did an excellent job telling the story in a static image. *Pulls out paddle* As far as looking at a piece for hours and missing a few flaws we are in the same boat my friend. * Har! Har! Har! Its an artists life for me! * Looks over at DJ, Graver, and Sayterra hey yall better be singing too...lol!
[/ QUOTE ]
* Arrr CyberLynx!! Shiver me pencils! Yer perspective be as wrong as me peg leg! Did ya have at the rum a'fore ye went at that figure sketch? I could draw better scratches with me hook hand! *
Man, talkin' "Pirate" is fun. -
Graver, you truly have a talent for the macabre -- this rough is awesome. Great, dynamic composition and storytelling. Can't wait to see what the watercolors are going to look like on this one!

Hello all -
This was a really cool piece to work on with Torell. What I enjoy most about art is Storytelling, and he has a heck of a cool story behind this. Torell was also a great Art Director -- he really knew what he wanted and I think we ended up with a cool looking piece with an interesting backstory.
AS always, I greatly appreciate the comments and the feedback -- ALL feedback -- Dante, I hate to say it, but you're absolutely correct about the skinny legs on Lord Samarrov. Dang it!
Anyone ever work on a piece for hours and not see an obvious flaw until someone else notices it? -
About ready to go to the detist chair myself -- friggin' lack of Dental coverage....
Beautiful piece Graver. I love the added detail you gave her costume and I'm always envious of your painting skills. Looking forward to the finish! -
Sorry I'm so late chiming in -- DJ, you've outdone yourself AGAIN. Best Rowr piece ever IMHO. I see you gave her the split upper lip and the detail on the fur is unbelievable. It's great to see your take on one of the forum's most popular characters.
-
Honestly DJ, I dig 'em both! It was cool to read all the feedback (good stuff all) and see how you implementerd it. Sometimes when we work on a piece for a while, things can get lost in the big picture. Great work.

Man, what a great idea to put the Atlas Globe as a connecting element!! Wish I though of that.
Damn you Brandon and your awesomeness.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gotta give all credit to Celsia on that one! I WISH I'd thought of that concept.
And talk about the pot calling the kettle awesome...
...or however that metaphor goes -
Thanks for posting this Celsia! You had a really clever idea with the diptych piece and it was a fun challenge.
Thanks for all the nice words gang. Always makes it a pleasure to read this thread! -
Rowr -- you may have found your calling here! Great stuff. And the best way to get better in ANY art form: practice, practice, practice! Keep going and I can't wait to see the results!
-
Sayterra -- PLEASE tell me you work in the animation industry. Beautiful sketches and great job on Fallen!
