Quote:Like a mural of Hero 1?In some zones, parts of the war walls could have graffiti on. Get people to submit their entries, like for the GR propaganda contest. More affluent parts of the city could have nice murals on at parts, showing the history of Paragon City. That's the kind of thing you could expect in say, Atlas Park.
Sounds like something you could click on like a plaque, and an opportunity for even more history badges! -

Quote:This sort of thing is especially bothersome on the border between Talos Island and Founders' Falls. You really ought to be able to see FF from TI and vice versa as they are on opposite sides of the same war wall. Instead you see some generic skyline, which is incongruous. The devs have made a rod for their own back with GR. Praetoria looks fantastic, but this has the side effect of making Paragon City (and to a lesser extent the Isles) look terrible. Having a proper skyline, with y'know, actual sky on the horizon rather than energy walls, makes Praetoria feel like a real city. Paragon feels like, as the OP said, lots of little boxes.
As well, all of the entrances to hazard zones make it appear as if you're about to enter a dark tunnel through the war wall, when in some cases the zone you're entering is supposed to be just on the other side. You should be able to see something beyond those heavy doors! -
I know I've seen this sentiment around the boards here and there already, and I've heard others talk about it while playing the game, but I didn't see anything here so I thought I'd go ahead and say it.
The new maps in Going Rogue are so wonderfully awesome that they are making the maps for the older zones looks entirely drab and boring. In particular, a lot of the older Paragon City maps.
Well OK, Kings Row was always meant to look a bit drab and depressing. But I think now that the devs have shown us what's possible in this game, I really want them to spiff up the old zones with more unique buildings and better streets.
It would probably take them forever to do, but... darnit, ambiance really matters to me! I'm sure it matters to a lot of other players too. So I hope they're listening. -
Quote:I'd also like a jetpack with mechanical wings! No, not the Sky Raiders version.I still want some jetpack costume pieces, dammit. Not everyone wants to wear wings or rocketboots.
And Enforcer rocket boots. 'Cause those totally look like thrusters on the bottom of the feet, don't they? -
I doubt that any technological singularity would impair our humanity. Thankfully, I don't think the Universe reads TVTropes.org.

Quote:It's not alignment in name only. You can't have your Paladin start acting like a chaotic neutral and not have it affect alignment can you?HOWEVER, and this is a big thing, I would like to see morality missions which DO NOT SWAP YOUR ALIGNMENT.
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it can't then later cry fowl. ;D -
Quote:I'd say that would be a relatively short lived scarcity, seeing as the planet we're on is orbiting around a rather vast energy resource. If replicator technology was invented tomorrow, then solar energy technology would start to be improved the next day!Replicators and nearly limitless energy sources by harnessing antimatter.
If a replicator were invented tomorrow, we would still very much be using money, or something similar. Only instead of rare earth elements, the resource we'd all be clamoring for control of would be energy, given the immense power demands of such a device. We're already well on our way to such an economy (energy being the only truly limited resource).
Well, yeah, the UFP also makes use of matter/anti-matter, and fusion reactors.
EDIT: By the way, I'm starting to hear this thread's title in the voice of Grouchy Smurf. And now, so are you. -
This is so funny.
Hyperstrike is annoyed because his toggles get turned off at the market, and he can't be bothered to check to turn them back on, which he has complete control over (he just, you know, can't be bothered to exert that control).
Meanwhile, other people are annoyed (and have been for the longest time now) by way too many players who also can't be bothered to turn off their effects when they're at the market, and cause lag for others trying to use the market.
Is the solution here really to just run away to some less frequented market location? Do videogame players really lack any kind of common courtesy that they all insist that everyone else suffer them while they refuse to budge for those very same people? That's a really weird way of thinking. Also very self centered. -
Quote:This is exactly what I did with my niches. I knew there would be people too timid to post their so-called valuable items, so I went in and pretty much set the prices, high and low, to what I wanted them to be!Cowaaaards! You gotta post or there won't BE a history. Take a hit to get the market moving, ya wussies.
Now I am the master! Muhahaha... -
Uberschveinen, how dare you cloud the issue with facts! That man is entitled!!!

How about I reaffirm my love for this game by showing a history of serial codes I've applied to my account over the years (minus the actual codes)?

Oh yeah, and as noted from elsewhere, Praetoria is a Fascist Utopia. If it used no money, like the UFP does, then it would be a Communist Utopia. Big difference there!
EDIT: Actually, I kinda think the UFP is more like a Socialist Utopia. One that relies on replicator technology to do away with scarcity and need altogether! -
Actually only the United Federation of Planets doesn't use money within its own system, sometimes referred to as "The New Economy".
However, there is such a thing as Federation currency, which they use to buy and sell things with other political entities, such as the Ferengi or the Klingons. Though a lot of the time, they prefer to trade goods and services instead of using money.
Most other worlds outside the Federation still seem to have some form of currency used throughout their economy.
And now you know! -
Obviously they needed to brainstorm more words starting with 'inf'.

Quote:No, it's not. Not bait-and-switch, that is.Consider this: What about the people that preordered thinking they would get ALL the GR content? That's called Bait and Switch and it is illegal.
Unless you can show proof that NCSoft actually did promise the digital goodies with the pre-purchase, which I'm certain that you can't. Your failure to read the product description doesn't count!
However, your continued insistence that this action constitutes fraud (even though there's no actual proof), implies that those running NCSoft are con artists. Not only is this ridiculous, given the company's long history, but also being such a deliberate falsehood (with the perceived intent to damage NCSoft's reputation), if taken too far, could be construed as libel, for which litigation against the libeler may be had.
That's just so you know! If you're going to accuse someone of something as serious as fraud on such a large scale, you'd better darn well have proof!

Oh wow. I was delibrately going for Rogue alignment last night, so I didn't notice that. I'll have to keep that in mind.
I think the devs will be burning the midnight oil on both ends for a while. I hope they get overtime. -
Since I couldn't get into the new zones last night, as I couldn't make a new character, I decided to try out the new alignment system with one of my level 50 villains. It's actually pretty neat! But there was one confusing bit...
The first tip I got described something about stealing a bane spider helmet from Arachnos and then going to sell it to Longbow. But the actual mission had nothing to do with that, and instead was about stealing some artifacts from a Rikti base.
This sort of mismatch kept going on for several missions, until I noticed the next tip I got actually coincided with the previous tip mission I'd just completed. I'm guessing though, that if I took that mission, I'd get something different!
I didn't see anything about this listed here, so I figured I'd ask about it to see if anyone else had noticed this or if it was just me. -
Quote:And if you don't have character porting, I believe the devs would risk alienating the existing players of CoH1. As I rather vaguely recall, this is what happened with EQ?Which is why I think wishing for "character porting" is likely to be fruitless. If COH2 had enough common ground to allow you to do that, it wouldn't be worth making. COH2 is only worth making if its so different from COH1 that its just not possible to move things over like that in any way except superficially (like saving a costume in COH1 and using it to make a new character on a different server).

I have great fun flipping salvage. It moves fast, I can bid and sell it in bundles of ten, and I don't have to pause to collect or craft anything; which is exactly what I like.
But the types of salvage my heroes buy and sell are not the same types of salvage that my villains buy and sell. The reason is that one type of salvage might have a much higher demand red side, or blue side. So I'm wondering how the merger will affect that. Will salvage with a high demand on the red side suddenly slump down to almost nothing once the merger is completed? Or will it be the other way around?
I'm curious to see, so I'll be leaving all my bids and sales up to find out! -

As clowns are evil, I'd be all for a villian MM set that summons clowns. Call it "Coulromancy". The level 18 power would summon up to 10 "clown posse" for you when you are in a jam, and would be called "Send in the clowns".
