But try finding a food not found in California

    [/ QUOTE ]Decent Mexican

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having just got back from Fremont, CA a week or two ago, I can attest to this statement. The Mexican food there was the blandest garbage I've ever tasted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In the suburbian-heart of the Bay Area (places like Pacifica and Daly City) they have some of the best Mexican around.

Also, north of the Bay Area (places like Santa Rosa and Petaluma) are the closest thing you'll get to being in Mexico, eating with some family in their dining room. Stuff there is incredibly good.
  2. ....Correct me if I'm wrong...

but isn't this entire change supposed to REMOVED the level modifier problem?

I thought the calcuation is now (in I7):

(BaseTH - Defense) * RankMod = Chance To Hit

If the equation you guys are quoting is true, Level mod still applies after defense, and that negates the whole "defense scaling" thing.

So, what's all this talk about an +3 AV with a 9.75% floor? Shouldn't the floor be 7.5% at ALL levels?

I know that still means MoG has a higher floor against LTs, Bosses, and AVs... but it's not *quite* as high as is being quoted in this thread.

Remember, the level mod against POWERS (such as Rad Infection) is applied to the THDebuff, not Defense on your character.

Man, "((BaseTH - Defense) * RankMod) * LevelMod = Chance to Hit' would be a NERF of the current system.

Of course, if I'm wrong, please point it out. I'd like some Dev quotes to back it up, too. I know I tend to misread some things...
  3. Something I noticed about added bonus time...

When I detroyed a certian object, I had to destroy several similair (if not the same) obects in order for the time bonus to to kick in. Once it did, every item after that up until, like, 4-5 would apply the bonus, but then it stopped again...

Does this happen in cycles (meaning, I can repeat the process), or is there a cap on how much time you can add from one "source"?

How much debuff can a resist buff resist, if a resist buff can buff debuff resist?

A resist buff can resist all the debuff a resist buff buffs, if a resist buff debuffs resists.

Ow. I think my brain just melted. (x.@)
  7. Tactics aside, SJ/SS having no toHit penalty let one use them as a super hero would. This was fun. Why is it you never see a hero over level 10 fly in battle? Because it's not fun to fly at 5mph and still be able to hit something. Switching between toggles mid-battle is a pain. Teleport is a non-issue, because you always go your maximum distance with teleport...

So, in order to keep balance, you're destroying one of the most fun aspects of the game. I can no longer feel like a true superspeeder while in battle, darting around and still hitting things. No longer can I leap across a building to hit that Freakshow Juicer hovering just out of reach. For the longest time, I haven't been able to have a true ariel battle because the penalty on fly was too harsh...

Now, I have a different solution to suggest: Instead of a toHit reduction, how about a damage reduction? A super hero with that sort of speed/control over his movement would get used to being able to hit with said movement powers. They might not hit as hard as if they concentrated a punch or fire blast, but they should be able to hit their target. Comic book battle involving movement powers are frequent... and I think that aspect has been partially missing from the game (as far as fly goes). Now it's been completely removed.

I think a damage reduction (Maybe 25%?) would be a much better solution than a toHit reduction. It would making people think twice about using a travel power in battle, but it would still make it a viable option, especially when you face other fliers.
  8. ...and thank YOU guys for not only launching a great MMO, but improving upon it issue after issue. I was blown away by how fun and rock-solid the game was during beta, and through launch, and I become more impressed with every new feature, every new zone, and each little piece of content you deliever to us.

Thank you for taking the time to put up with our whines, or cries of nerf, our ripped out hair, and our not-so-polite forum posts. Thank you for actually listening to the players, and taking a point of view from our perspective. Thank you for the wonderful communication that I've yet to see be surpassed by any other MMO out there.

Thank you for the wonderful game I have to play when I'm bored, or down, or angry, or stressed.

    ...just, THANK YOU!

    Defense nerf

I think Geko forgot to explain that multiple armors do stack still...

If Frozen Armor gives 30% Defense to Smash/Lethal, and Wet Ice gives 15% Defense to all but Psionics, and Glacial Armor gives 30% Def to Energy/Neg Energy... you would get this:

Frozen Armor and Wet Ice on:
    - 45% Def Smash/Lethal
    - 15% Def everything else but Psionics

Wet Ice and Glacial Armor on:
    - 45% Def Energy/Neg Energy
    - 15% DEf everything else but Psionics

    All three armors on:
    - 45% Smash/Lethal
    - 45% Energy/Neg Energy
    - 15% Def everything else but Psionics

The only thing that does not stack any more is multiple damage types. For example...

Fire sword does both Lethal and Fire. Your defense only needs to block one to block the whole attack...

In the old system, with all the armors on, you would get a 60% Def against this attack (45% + 15%). Under the new system, you only get 45% because it's higher.

Now, if you were hit with Fire Breath, which is only a fire attack, you would only get 15% Def against it.

    Make sense?
  10. Wow.

As large of a read that was, it was definately not a waste of time. I love obscure references. =)
  11. Since his story will evolve as I play CoH, I'll simply give a brief background of Cooler's history and how his powers work. From there on, I'll periodically post recent adventures of Cooler's mishaps. =P

Cooler, as he is now known, was born in the Arizona deserts of the United States. It was there he was raised by his mother, who despised the hot weather more than anything else. His father had run off, according to Cooler's mom, and she was not afraid to tell him the truth. She was always honest about everything with Cooler, and he gained that same additude towards life.

When Cooler's dad had left his mom, he left her with not much more than Cooler. As he grew up, the cold nights of the desert felt oddly comforting to him, and at the age of 13 he noticed his bare skin would frost up a bit while in the cold. He thought nothing of it, figuring it was normal because of how cold the desert could get at night. Cooler's mom never noticed.

Cooler's mother always encouraged Cooler to learn new skills, and do very well in school. Despite his offers, she would never let him help her with rent, for she was detirmined to help herself out. For years she raised her son alone while working enough to save money so that one day she could escape the pit trap she was in. Finally that day came.

After years of saving, Cooler's mother finally had enough to move to Paragon city, where she hoped to start a new life in such an opportune place. Cooler, now 19, decided he would stick by his mom's side to help her out and get situated. Besides, a new place would mean new excitement.

Maybe TOO much excitement, as it turned out.

Almost instantly after leaving the desert, Cooler realized his gift. He could cool his body, and the surrouding air, to freezing temperatures. Having been taught to be open with everything, Cooler told his mom, showing her what he could do. At first a little frightened, she eventually comforted him and let him know she still loved him, and that this new ability wasn't going to change who he was. Besides, they were moving to the "City of Heroes", where there were plenty of other mutants like him.

So, Cooler, in the safety of his mom's apartment, began to practice his control over his newfound powers. Eventually he learned how to quickly coat his body in an armor of solid ice. He also learned how to extend the fridgid cold to the surrounding air, making it feel like the dead of winter in Antartica. Modifying his ice creation, he learned to shape simple objects made of ice, as well. His control would soon be put to the test, and with his mother's encouragement, decided to register as a hero under the name "Cooler".

No sooner than his nickname became official did an attack against his apartment building ensue. A large group of thugs broke into the building at night, ransacking people's apartments, and setting them ablaze. His apartment was amoung the first hit.

Cooler fought through a few thugs before he was thrown back into his room by a rather large character. Dizzy, he stood, and from the other room could hear his mother screaming. He tried to run to her defense, but was grabbed by the large character and instead thrown out his 10th story window. It was by sheer luck and a part of his power he didn't realize he had that he survived.

He woke up in the hospital and was told what happened. Apperently, about 10 minutes after he was thrown, some heroes arrived at the scene. They quickly vanquished the foes and put out the raging fire. Unfortunately, many died in the fires.. including his mother.

Enraged, Cooler set out into the city to stop any crime he could see. He vowed no other innocent person would fall victim to such evil again...

It wasn't long before Cooler beganto wonder about how he survived the fall. It then struck him that, not only could he slow molecules in the air to create ice and cold, he could also slow gravity particles to make himself lighter. Though he can't so this to stop gravity and fly, he can use it to lessen gravity and jump great heights and distances.

Cooler's never ending battle against evil has begun... but where will it take him?
