Awesome job, BaB. I understand that this is a non-combat power, but could it be made to use with the costume codes that we get with Halloween and conventions?
I know more people that RP with the costumes on... heck, on Virtue, many players use the convention costumes as their full time costume.
Sadly, we can't use both at the same time. Sad, really. I'd love to just walk around in a Freakshow or Praetorian Clockwork costume. -
Yeah, it's only good for one character. The way Aion is set up is that once you apply a code to your account, you don't get stuff automatically like in CoH when we get boosters.
You have to log into your PLayNC account and apply each "perk" directly to a character... from your master account. So, if I wanted to apply special edition items, I'd have to log into my Master Account, select the server my character is on, select the character I want to get the perk on, then apply each perk.
It's a bit of a process, but good that I don't have to waste one time use things on alts that are throwaways. -
Howdy all. Thanks for the replies. Been sick so I haven't been on the computer. I'll PM those that are willing to part with their Aion Energy Boost Packs. ((thanks again, kid and nomme))
Basically, the Boost pack is just some buff foods that, well, give you timed buffs. Some are Hit Point; some are Mana; some are flight boosts, etc. The Aion reps. were giving away the same buff temp powers on their official Aion twitter pages, but with me not being at the computer much over the past week, I've missed out on each one. -
Hey all,
Just wondering what Protectorites still have any unused Aion Energy Booster Packs that were inserted into your Herocon swag bag?
Feel like parting with them for free? Feel like getting up to 20,000,000 influence/infamy for each code?
>.>
I've been alternating play between Aion and CoH, and I'm looking for any codes I can get my hands on. So, if you're not a player of Aion and don't want useless junk laying around, I've got plenty of inf. to go around
Thanks,
AC -
All you need to do is apply it as an "Upgrade Account" to your current subscription. Make sure you're not logged into the game when you do. After that, wait about 5-10 minutes and you're good to go.
Log in and you'll have access to the costume pieces. You won't get a notification like when you get badges. Just go to the tailor and it'll all be there. -
Quote:BaB's, I know it's nothing really, but this is one of those things that when I see, I cringe because it's almost perfect:Which useful fixes for animation issues would you be referring to again?
The new Heroic punches for SS Tanks. The punches themselves are perfect, just that there are some parts of the bodies move/don't move in the correct way when throwing the punches. (Believe me, I used to use the same exact punches daily for work... >.>)
When throwing a punch, the leg on the opposite side of the body should extend forward to spring off with a more powerful looking punch.
Example: When throwing a right jab, the left leg should extend forward to push off of. Like in Baseball: if a pitcher throws righty, he would extend with the left leg to put more power behind the throw.
Also, for the animation for the left jab, the punch extends perfectly. The only thing I see is that the pull back from the punch is way to quick, even for a super hero. I think the pull back might be faster than the punch. Personally, I think the pull back should be a bit slower, maybe even a half a second more. From my mindset, if I was in a "brawl" and throwing a left jab, the pull back would be slower so I could see what kind of blow to deliver next. Sometimes a jab like that is a stunner, so if I don't need to waste the energy to throw another jab, I'd be taking it slow, looking if it's time to deliver a bigger finishing blow to end it.
Aside from that, everything looks perfect :P -
WANTS NAO!!!!!
And I mean I want both the sword and the Nictus Hunter Rifles -
So, as I tend to surf the global channels often, I happen upon a discussion about questioning people's loyalty to CoH if they play other NCsoft games. Lately the talk has been about Aion.
Don't think this is turning into a flame-fest, well, at least from me, against Aion. In fact, I've subscribed to it and I'm loving every minute of it.
However, there are the folks that say, "OMG! So and so is playing Aion now! Well, looks like they weren't so loyal to CoH after all!" Or the "Well, looks like so and so is playing Aion... good, glad they're gone."
The funny thing is that people tend to see things no more than 3 feet in front of them. They see playing Aion as a breakaway from CoH. They think that subscribing to Aion hurts CoH. Well, sadly, they are mistaken.
Any business made from subscriptions and sales of Aion actually helps CoH. CoH isn't only getting funding from their own subscriptions. They get funding from NCsoft, who in fact is taking in the money from both products. If Aion does well, it means there is a larger pool of money that can be distributed between the products that NCsoft produces/distributes. Just like the money taken in from CoH is used to fund other NCsoft titles.
Every major company makes a product that competes with itself, well, because no matter what product is bought, the corporation takes in money. Maytag makes more than one washing machine. Blizzard makes more than one MMO. NCsoft is just another company that is making its own competition just so it can continue to produce the products that we love so much.
So, the next time that you see someone bash someone for playing another NCsoft game, you march right up to them and give them a stiff right hook to the jaw! Any money that can go towards the preservation of CoH is clean money in my book!
And that's the way it was. Goodnight, Paragon City.

For months, I have seen many people with complaints and fears about Going Rogue. Now, as time draws closer to its unveiling at Herocon, the discussion has become more heated.
"But I don't want to be a villain! I want to stay in Paragon! I'm not switching sides! It's unfair to the purist in me to offer content that I don't feel my characters should participate in!"
"No way I want to hang out with heroes! That totally changes who my villain is! I'm a bad guy and I like being just that! Stop hating on villains and trying to get us to turn them into heroes!"
Even though I already say it till I'm blue in the face, I'll continue to...
"Going Rogue does not make the determination if you are a hero or a villain. You do. Your actions define who you are; your concept of who your character is doesn't change unless you want it to."
What I mean is that even though, as a villain, you enter Paragon City, it doesn't change your character. All "true and pure" villains don't classify themselves as a "bad guy." They define themselves by their actions and, more often than not, consider themselves to be heroes of the world around them. Many take up the gauntlet of villainy to open the eyes of those around them that can not see the corruption in every day life. Many have a warped sence of heroism; seeing that the only way to get to their "Utopia" is by using their hand to destroy all in the way of that vision, be it good or evil.
Many comic book heroes had to walk the line of good and evil, sometimes even crossing it, because their beliefs told them to. Their morals didn't change because they believed that what they were doing was necessary. They may not have liked what they had to do, but they felt that they needed to cross the line so they could continue to their destination.
No, Going Rogue will not change your destiny, unless you want it to. The road may branch off into many different paths, but if you are determined to get to your chosen destination, regardless of what path you take, you will still get there.
Heroes vs Villains. Good vs Evil. It's all the same thing. The only difference is the interpretation of what you see. -
The first rule for Badge-Hunting should always be:
!.) Remember, it's just a game. Obsess over reality first. Whatever time you have left over is fine to obsess over "badging." -
Quote:I believe this goes back to the old days when Cryptic ran the show. They didn't want people to use historical names for two reasons:I don't get the prohibition on historical figures. Never have. Are they worried about being sued by the estate of Alexander the Great?
1.) Taking on the fame and noteriety of someone else. - It's kind of like the celebrity thing. Plus, the historical person in question may/may not have been someone that not everyone can agree on as being "politically correct."
While some may not have a reason to be offended that you took on the persona of Abraham Lincoln, some may be offended taking on the persona of someone that may have committed atrocious acts on multitudes of people. Instead of saying, "Well, that historical figure is okay and that other is not," they just said no to all.
2.) Historical Figures may have an "industry" trademark - Meaning that somewhere along the line, a film, television, comic book company made a variation of the historical figure that they could file a trademark on. If your character turns out to violate the industry trademark, NCsoft would be held liable.
I'm sure there were many other reasons... mostly creating a character where your "Mary Sue" from the beginning without having to prove yourself by your actions. Taking on the persona of someone else that's already famous/well known is sure to stir up trouble with the players. -
There are ways to contest a name generic. You can /petition from the character and write a brief summery that will open up a dialogue between yourself and some support staff, of you can visit http://support.plaync.com and file a petition there.
Depending on the name in question, there is a chance to get a name back. If it's anything trademarked, is a real life (living or dead) celebrity, any historical figure, a "tribute" name that's spelled differently but can be considered violatiing a trademark or copyright, or anything that the GM's deem innapropriate or offensive, the chances of getting the name back is close to nill.
But try either method listed. You might get lucky. -
Quote:Dude, you are just talking now just to see your own text. Hey, I can pull different parts of your statement too, just to make it seem like my point is more valid than yours. You aren't a mindreader, sorry. You don't know how that guy got his kheldian.
It isn't like level 50 is some tremendous grind any more. "regular" PL'ers can do it in short order with no 'exploits' required.
It is funny how you claim you didn't insult anyone, then in the next paragraph heatedly defend your insult.
*thumbsup*
A level 40 Warshade... no vet badges... has 3 exploration badges... has 15 AE badges... has NO OTHER badges... doesn't believe that you can have more than one costume... doesn't know how to get more than one costume... even after seeing more than one costume, believes that they are all "convention" codes....
Yeah, chances are that he got his Kheldian through normal gameplay... -
Quote:"Exploiter" is a term; a definition. Actually it's just a word. The only people to take offence are the ones that feel that's what they are doing. Now, I'm sure you're a stand up guy that's never done anything wrong. Why be offended at a term that's obviously not directed towards you?Exploiter is an insult. Applied to a stranger in the context of an MA Baby whine the meaning isn't hard to grasp.
If you meant it in a happy funtime casual friends jokey way, that part got lost somewhere between your brain and the keyboard.
Or is it?
Words are words. One person's taking of its definition does not, and should not, define everyones definition of the word. You were offended. Get over it. -
Quote:So, you can tell the tone (which is heard, btw) of text? Well, looking back it seems like a light-hearted romp to me.Calling someone an "exploiter" is bashing them.
The entire tone of your OP is "look at these morons who are new and don't know all the ins and outs".
If you aren't willing to stand behind your insults you should speak more carefully.
And, you mean to tell me that many people, that have level 50's and no knowledge of the game, that have also played less than 3 months, haven't exploited known.. well, exploits in the MA?
Find a new cause to stand up for. -
Quote:Wow. So you criticize people that play the game the way they like.. in an mmoRPg... but you can't take criticism of the way you play? All removing rewards from the MA will do is to make certian that no one but pathetic RPers will touch the thing in any way shape or form. And i would be willing to bet even alot of RPers wont touch it should that happen because even an RPer wants to level up a toon now and then.

Quote:Backtracking wasn't done. I simply shortened a half hour story into two minutes. I'm not bashing anyone. I simply tried to explain to this person that a Mission Awarded temp power was not a Convention costume. He didn't want to hear it because he was correct... in his mind. Then, he proceeded to get others that were not aware to attack me because he knew better... in his mind.I did.
I found his backtracking unconvincing.
In any case, the original wording spells out the intent of the OP in neon letters- "MA babiez suk, lol I kno more than them vets r k00l ma babiez drool!"
I realize bashing MA newbies is a spectator sport among a certain class of player, but that doesn't justify the behavior.
I even left the zone and was still flamed by the unknowing players, calling me a "noob."
What I'm trying to point out is a few people, not a group as a whole. If that's what you took from it, it's your perspective, not mine.
Don't forget this:
I was the one that was walked up to, by a level 40 Warshade, and told I was an idiot for wearing a costume from a convention. I pointed out that this costume was awarded for game play. A few people thought it was cool to earn; a few people thought I was lying and that it was a code from Comic Con.
When I cycled through my 5 costume slots (which I referred to as "activated all my "Con" temp costumes"), some people were shocked. Still, there were "newbies" or as you like to call "AE newbies" that proceeded to tell the people around him that I was lying... that the only costumes in game were the one you create when you first make a character, and the Warshade "Dwarf" power.
There were vet players there, confirming what I said, but still... the newbie got his little crew of disgruntled friends to flame me and try to show their knowledge of the entire game to other newbies.
I'm not saying "vets r k00l"... I'm saying that there are people like this player, with only 5-6 badges, playing as Kheldians, trying to teach "the game as a whole" to other newbies. Heck, AE isn't the problem. It's the problem of the people that let things like this happen. I've seen Kheldians in PI, before the MA, with no badges except for Influence and Freakshow Boss defeat badges, saying the same things.
Oh well, you're damned if you do; damned if you don't. -
I wonder if there is another requirement for the badge/power that wasn't listed? I just logged in my Corr. for the first time since before i16 and it was awarded to me at login.
-
Quote:Actually, I condensed my reply into one sentence for the story. The actual exchange, on my part, was actually more cordial. I tried to explain the costume and was met with, "Whateva. Don't kare. Its Con costoom."hmmm a bit iffy on both sides if you ask me. He was initially in the wrong for the way he initiated the conversation, however your first response wasnt exactly friendly either.
Telling somebody to learn to play the game can only result in a bad ending.
That's when he told all of his little buddies, in local, "Ignore him. Dont feed trollz. He tinks he speshul cauz he got costoom. He dint urn costoom like us."
Then his little buddies, obviously needing to vent on anything/anyone since their AE farms were dead and had nothing to do since they didn't know there were other zones, went off on me.
That's when I actually made the comment about learing to actually play.
I condensed it just so the story wasn't too long :P -
Story goes:
I complete the Faultline Flashback that awards the Temp Arachnos Costume (Wolf Spider, Bane Spider, Night Widow). I still have the costume after completing the arc (it didn't go away) so I headed to Atlas to train my level 49 up to 50 (since the O-portal drops you close to the trainer in Atlas; also because I've always trained 50 in Atlas... one of those OCD things of mine.)
As soon as I get there, a level 40+ Warshade comes up to me and says, "U aint speshul cauze u went to a Con. I urned my Warshade costoom!"
I was taken aback. I look at his info... no vet rewards, no kill badges, only AE badges and a couple exploration badges.
I say, "Excuse me? This isn't from a Con, it's a Mission Item. If you actually learned to play the game instead of standing in the AE to get exploited to 50, you'd know."
His reply, "F*** YOU! You r skum! I play betta eva than U! You a noob! U suX! I play how I wan! U goin on ignore." If he even bothered to look at my info, he'd see 5 years of badges.
Once again, I was shocked. Then a few others with no badges, and on Peacebringers and Warshades, started bombing me, in local, with attacks because I'm not cool for going to a Con or because I have a 50. Profanity is tossed on me, in local, in broadcast, and in PM's. All by these players that never stepped one foot out of Atlas.
When I stopped and actually activated all my "Con" temp costumes, to show that the Arachnos costume was a temp power from the game, they were like "Whoah! 4 real? U can get costumes from playin?"
It's so sad... they didn't even know you can have more than one costume slot, or didn't even know how to claim them!
When I explained that you can earn costume pieces, merits, etc. from playing, just to earn other unlockables, one of them actually logged out to make a new character, just to play the normal way... just to earn all the temp powers and extras.
Three hours later, the newbie that made the new alt was in Atlas, broadcasting "lv2 scrap, lf aefarm."
*shakes head* -
My bad... I looked at the end and thought it was in the Reichsman's end room.. the red and black
Anyway, then the only thing I can surmise is that with the "fix" to the 5th SF to keep it from crashing, someone might have incorrectly flipped the switch for it to allow the master of settings for a badge.
Or... they set the requirements of that one SF up to +4, 8 enemies, and AV's? -
No offence, but looking at those screenshots, none of the temp powers are greyed out. Did you not actually set the deaths or temp powers, or just not die or use temp powers.. because that's a huge difference.
Look here:
http://i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu336/Desum/05.jpg
There is a veteran reward in the bottom tray that is not greyed out. That is a temp power. It looks like the Nemesis staff. It's not greyed out as it has the dull "golden" look to it. It's not darkened out in any way to show that it's not available.
Same with the Veteran Base Teleporter, Veteran Sands of Mu, etc. None of these can ever be available to get the "Master of" badges. Even your tray shows a visible Shivan temp power that's not greyed out. All of my Master End screenshots clearly show that the temps are greyed out. They will not come back till after someone calls in the Task Force to end it. This is clearly not the case since everyone is still in the mission.
So, it's either that the Master of Setting was quickly changed for that TF in the last patch, since that TF was causing the crashes at the end on Reichsman, or it was incorretly set.
As an FYI: All end Popups display "Defeats 0 0 Time" even if the "No Defeats" wasn't set. -
It's sad what the MA has become.
What's it going to take for people to see that the MA was never made for farming? Total nerfs? No XP? No rewards? No badges?
The Devs say, time and time again, that they do not want you farming the MA. Yet you continue. That, in turn, ruins it for the rest of us; the storytellers. They increase the rewards outside the MA, just so you can take your farms outside... to leave the MA to those that want to express creativity.
Go find a farm elsewhere. There are non-MA enemies that give better rewards now, yet you want to find a way to work against the system. You want to blame others for your own mistakes. You want others to take the blame while you take the greed and run for the door. You WANT the them to scrap the MA because YOU want a reason to hate the game and the devs.
The Devs don't mark things for failure... you do.
Go away. -
