Someone named Comfort decided not to leave up to word in the dictionary but how it is known in prison slang.

Aww.. someone's getting angry over a little contructive criticism?

Content is details like Lou's Garage, one small example. Frostfire's mission is another. Still these are only minor graphics and model changes, something I myself can do to this game in less than ten minutes with Adobe Photoshop.

    LOL.

I just love the way Statesman can speak volumes in as few words as possible. I've seen him silence people's doubts and fears with a single word, think this is the first time I've seen him sum up his thoughts with an acronym.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He's laughing because I'm right, but he also knows I don't have any way to prove to you how little it actually takes for him to create a new level, a new mob, or any of this so called content. And if I do give away any of those details, well then he has to by the rules ban my account permenantly and take all of whatever I've created for his own, under the EULA. He's laughing at you, because you'll go right on believing everything he says is 100% accurate and true, and that it took months and months for them to come up with putting pentegrams on the walls and adding a fire effect.
  3. Neither Crey nor Nemesis chain stuns.

You would've been better off talking about Dark Carnival. Everyone LOVES to fight Dark Carnival right? Just about as much as everyone LOVES to make alts and start up at level 1 again and again and again and...
  4. I'll agree, it's not 100% accurate, I didn't sit down with a stopwatch and time myself when I created a new tileset. Then again, I never said a tileset, I said any texture you wanted to change. A tileset would take a hour or two at least.

These scripts for things like ice and fire were already in the game, they had yet to be used. What they used for ice is the same thing that makes you slide down a inclined surface, the only thing that changed was the animation and the amount of control the player has.

Out of the hundreds of groups of natterlings just by themselves no eyeballs in other words I have demolished only three times was I held. I takes a huge number of solid hits to form the sinew.

In the mission maps I never get held by them. In the taskforces I have never seen anyone get held by them. Most people who fight the packs of natterlings never get held. Want to know why? It takes a bunch of them to land hits with their glop to form a hold. Odds are by the time you get held you are in the red.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but why were you fighting Natterlings?

Let me try to explain better.

My main issue with them is that there's no reason to fight them, which is partially due to the holds, but I don't take issue with the holds themselves. The risk scales up while the reward drops to less than something like CoT or Nemesis on PI. What kind of balance is that?

You must mean that place no one ever goes because the mobs are tweaked out where even the minions chain hold.

    What minions would these be?

Shadow Shard mobs only in the large packs with eyeballs or bosses are hard as hell. But this is a hazard zone. Not meant to solo a huge pack like that.

There is one hundred times the numbers of nemesis and crey in the shadow shard then in any other zone.

The storm palace is the only place with level 53 mobs.

    Naviaging takes patience and memory.

Once you get the hang of it going through the zones is fast.

Kora fruit missions are the only place to get an endless supply of third tier inspirations. Want a hard taskforce or hard missions shadow shard got them.

Want a challenge and the monsters in PI bore you or AVs do so head out to the shadow shard.

Oh one thing there is a reason disicplines exist and only the overseers hold.

Natterlings it takes 15 hits to buildup to hold you.

You get held more often by ink men minions then natterlings.

As usuall the people that powerleveled themselves up are wussies.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When you assume... screwit, you're just an idiot. First of all, powerleveled? No, 'fraid not. My 50 soloed every single level. Netterlings usually fly in huge groups and pretty much insta-hold, meanwhile you've got some eye looking thing throwing fireblasts at snipe range. That's just a bit unbalanced when you've got equal level mobs called Nemesis that don't even have holds, much less on every single minion. I guess I should remind you that hold pretty much means dead unless you have a healer around, and if you have anyone who is dumb enough to team with you in the Shadow Shard I guess you're lucky.

And the best reward they can offer in this entire game is inspirations...

Then go. I hear SWG is working fine this time of year.
WoW is just around the corner.
EQ2 could use a skilled designer such as you. If in under 10 minutes you can create a new tileset, hell, in 1 day you could rock the entire MMORPG genre.
In 1 week, you'd create a gaming-RL utopia! Two PIES for every boy!
    and in...dare I say it...1 month?

    YOU'D BE A GOD!

The universe torn asunder by the might of your power! Your uberl337ness!

You're like...our Clockwork King! Behold his mighty Footstomp!

First you take some textures out of the game using well known and easily obtainable software. You change a few of the textures, throw in a little art, and repack it. In less than 10 minutes you can change any character in the game, any map, anything at all that has a texture on it.

It took you guys over a month to come up with capes. A friend of mine used Maya to do the same thing in about 10 minutes. Fully flowing cape animations. Some of them looked better than what is in CoH now. I told him to send them in and get a job working for you guys so we could have something other than crap.

How to make current ingame excuses for content:

    Peacekeeper:
Use the lightning eyes effect on your character.

    Only current CoH bar:
Add purple lighting to existing warehouse map.

    New mob type:
Create new model and attach old animations. Assign powers like hold and stun.

If I had the money to buy the Unreal engine (just like what the devs of this game did) I could've built CoH.

    PWNED B*TCH.

Point us to some online examples of your greatness. 10 minutes my ever-widening-[censored]...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure, just as soon as Positron posts detailed descriptions of how he created his new content. I don't think I need them stealing my ideas. Any material created for CoH is owned by them according to their EULA. Did I mention I already cancelled my account? If you want to jump in and help Statesman bash, DO SO.

I just don't like when Statesman makes posts telling us all what we like and don't like, then tells us all about how it took so long and so much effort to put out something that's just sorta bleh in terms of most games.

I don't know, maybe it was really hard for him if he's only got one programmer working on new content for the entire game. Perhaps it's time to turn around and spend some of the money coming in from the merchandizing of Heroclix action figures and comics and hire some people to make this game stay afloat.

It's sure sounding like this expansion has some nice stuff - if you're over level 40. Am i the only one who seems to see that at least 2/3 of all the new content introduced into the game has been aimed at high level players? It's looking more and more like the developers don't care about anyone under level 20 that plays.

Issue 1 - Game is finished as intended by initial release design
Issue 2 - Screwed over low level players with design errors in the hollows, added lots of nice effects and another extra zone for high level players, effects and capes if you were not under level 20.
Issue 3 - More high level stuff and no mention of stuff for low levels (yet). It's like the percentage of players who aret 38+ don't matter in terms of content for them - oh sure...we get the odd revisited and updated mission, but when it comes to anything else we are just expected to patiently wait through the 2-3 month publish cycles so they can add more for the high levels and tell us to wait again.

I'm not even going to bother about the obligatory anti flaming request of my post, you guys will flame me, but just go back and look at the listing for each new publish and you will see what i mean. Oh, don't bother with the just play and not complain thing either, i do play. I have a 26 blaster and other characters - that's why i got the game...to play it after all...just be nice if of all the new content being added, it was evenly distributed amongst the level ranges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you're a bit confused. Most of the new content is going into low levels. Statesman has even mentioned that he is strongly pushing low level content because everyone LOVES to play alts. Frostfire and Lou's Garage come to mind as well as the Hollows and ToT.

Meanwhile at high levels you have a zone that no one ever goes to, a trial that's broken, and a uberboss (Hamidon) that is broken.

Oh yeah, tons of high level content there.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
So he wants High Level Content

But High Level Content that's Easy..
    Not...challenging content...

    ...easy...

    *hrrmm*

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess you're just as blind as the devs then since you don't seem to see in anything other than black and white. That's how swarms went from being far too much experience to worthless. That's how smoke grenade went from being a huge debuff to a nothing debuff.

Guess what? Killing the same mobs with the same stupid animations at level 40+ isn't new content. You can add mobs to this game all day and you've added ZERO CONTENT.

Content is details like Lou's Garage, one small example. Frostfire's mission is another. Still these are only minor graphics and model changes, something I myself can do to this game in less than ten minutes with Adobe Photoshop. I'd explain to you how you could edit every single detail in the game but it's against the EULA now to make the game more interesting yourself.

Content is being able to do something new that your character couldn't do before. Fighting the same stupid mobs in a slightly changed location with the same powers of chain hold/stun whatever is NOT NEW CONTENT.

Take level 40+ for example and you'll see it's definately missing something...

1 - Shadow Shard: Only accessable by flyers. Nothing to really do excapt fight pointlessly difficult mobs. Why even fight the creatures on the shadow shard when they are ridiculously hard compared to PI street counterparts?

    2) Hydra Sewer Trial: Still broken since it was added. Guns that are required to defeat the hydra don't spawn when they should or don't do enough damage. Either way, I've run out of ammo before completing the task more often than not. Usually this mission is used as a boss XP farm since it isn't good for much else.

    3) Hamidon: The devs have openly stated that Hamidon is working fine, yet if you're not playing a blaster or empathy defender, don't expect to be anything more than a cheerleader. Overheard at the Hamidon crater, "Tanks and scrappers, please leave, you're causing the blasters to lag!"

I guess I'm just crazy though since I don't think that any of that is very good content. Even worse I t hought that since the game pretty much forces you to level at some point no matter how much debt you accrue and since you get to pick new powers at each level, that the idea behind the game was to level.

Appearantly this game is just for alts though, since players LOVE to reroll so much. Go ahead and delete everything you have that's 30+ if you want to follow Statesman's ideas and reroll some level 1 alts. It's just too bad that no one can get through Statesman's thick skull and showl him he's wrong, so I hope the cancellation of my account will. If not... eh... what do I care, right? See you in WoW.

I'd give you all of my stuff except items haven't been implemented yet...
  13. Oh yeah, the shadow shard...

You must mean that place no one ever goes because the mobs are tweaked out where even the minions chain hold.

If anything you're Cryptic's tool, fanboy...

Such retarded and all encompassing statements from the Statesman are just one of many many reasons I'm quitting. I'd tell them to you but CuppaJo would have a BF.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
One of the big assets to City of Heroes is that players LOVE to roll up and play tons of characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What?!

I HATE that all of my old characters are constantly suffering from new content being given to lowbie players without any way for my high level characters to access it.

Wait, I do have a way, but it involves 10x the effort of making a new character, it's bugged, you get almost nothing for a reward despite the same risk as always. It's called Exemplaring.

Thank you Statesman, for giving me the last reason I needed to cancel my account.

    Villain Emotes

    Pole dance emotes.

I'm sorry, those normal dance emotes are just lame. Not really a villain only issue.
  18. Yeay, skills.

Of those mentioned none of them fit my main's character concept. I suppose I'll have to grind to get them all maxed out anyway so I can keep up with everyone else.
  19. NAZI ISLAND! YAYAYAYA!

    New Features:

5th Column packed in clumps so thick that every mob looks like it has 8 arms and legs!

Get the "You hit 100 targets simultaneously" error when trying to attack with any non-single target powers!

Build mountains and skyscrapers out of the bodies of the fallen 5th Column troopers! It's like Lincoln Logs but with more killing and mayhem!

Thx devs for listening to my great ideas and adding them to your game! You guys rock!
  20. RSK should allow 2 things.

    1) Completion of old missions (TFs, Trials, and Normals).
    2) A way to work off debt and gain influence.

    Nothing else.
  21. WELL...

If you actually read up on how the current hospital system works you'd know that there are nodes placed throughout the city which monitor transmitters that heroes all wear. When their vital signs become unstable, such as when they are when a hero is laying face first on the pavement, they are automatically teleported to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The villain side of this is that they wouldn't want to go to a hospital where heroes go to, where law enforcement would be waiting, or any sort of prison area. An injured villain might find a street clinic instead, preferably one that wouldn't ask questions. Say one of these street docs set up a system that shunted fallen villains into his clinics, perhaps piggybacking the existing hospital nodes. He'd be a very powerful villain in his own right.
  22. An issue I think few devs if any have bothered mentioning is the current setup of the badge award system for doing missions in relation to being forced to exemplar and back tracking those missions you may have missed.

The seemingly random award of badges may be set up for specific missions in reality, but many players don't know what all those missions are. That means that if they might have a friend who missed out and wants to help, there's a good chance they'll complete the mission before realizing there's a badge involved.

I feel in the aspect of finding missing badges, exemplaring fails in its function.
  23. Comfort

    Is it true?

The best villains always tell the truth, as usually most good people don't want to face such cold and brutal honesty.
  24. I'm going to Monkey Island!!! WOOOOOOT!!!

(in case you're wondering what kind of crack I'm on, go to the northwestern islands off Peregrin. Not recommended for those without fly or below level 50.)
  25. Posted elsewhere, but maybe Geko will glance at it here... Rise of the Phoenix

At the last minute it seems it was changed to not include knockback. This knockback was the only thing it had going for it before, allowing you to push everything over and give you a chance to rebuff. On test it seems it was still working, plus the newest changes to give you some stamina to rebuff with. On live it lost the knockback. What's going on here? I don't recall reading about that in the patch notes? It's less useful than it was before...
