Seems I'm winning, I got 24 out of 30
Frustrating for me how many of the Batman movie ones I got wrong though! Given I only watched them again a couple of weeks ago, they should have been more fresh in my mind -
Perhaps it's because I remember the Adventures of Lois and Clark tv series, or the gods awful Superboy show, but I still loved it

Well, I've reached the point where I'm done talking about it now.
The global list merge has been done, and the EU players got screwed over without any decent reason why.
Am I pleased about the list merge? Hell yeah, been asking for it for a looooooong time. It's a great idea and lots of people wanted it and kudos to the devs for actually doing it.
Do I like the way it was dealt with? Hell no. Too many people, ALL of whom are in the EU got shafted by the list merge and forced into losing their globals, a lot of whom had to lose it unnecesarily.
The devs/mods/marketing people showed an amazking lack of loyalty to people who have been playing this game for years, preferring to take the easier option, either because it suited them because it made their lives easier or because they didn't want to upset players who might return, rather than looking after the players who have stayed and paid their wages.
It's left a very bad taste in my mouth. Customer loyalty should be a cornerstone for any sensible business. Look after the customer you definitely have rather than the the customers you might possibly get.
The players gave numerous ways of making this less painful for the people who's globals clashed and they seem to have ignored most of them after a good start. The fact that Coolio has shown actual proof of this just makes it worse.
It's a shame, because this game is well know for having one of the best communities and now we have players leaving because of it, long term players like Dante and Slazenger. That's just wrong.
Ah well, as usual, we have to get on with it and deal with it. Such is the life of the EU players. So much for bringing the communities into alignment. -
Yup, DCUO is back as well, which is good, means I can cancel the damn thing now.
All this has left a very bad taste in my mouth regards Sony, they have a LOT of work to do to repair trust now. -
Also, finally confirmed something only ever speculated at by the fans, regarding regenerations
-
No one commented yet? I'm shocked!!
Anyway, it was excellent! VERY Gaiman
Will discuss in more detail once you poor Americans get to see it!!
Anyone who wants to, remember......Spoilers, sweetie -
Quote:I'd even disagree further. It's conceivable there could be a EU player of 6 years losing their global to someone who's only been playing in the US for 2 months. Why should the EU player lose out when they have been paying for the game loyally for so long? And if it's decided based on locale? That way opens up a whole can of worms that Paragon and NC Soft really don't letting out.In the case of an active US player keeping their global over an EU player that's fair enough. Someone would have to yield eventually.
As it's a business, it should be money that talks, and that should be decided on who's been the more loyal player, someone who's played for 6 years or someone who's played for 6 months? And who's still playing. -
Quote:To be fair, it was 7 years later, it's conceiveable it's changed, after all, how many times did he get it damaged in battles over his career? There was a bit of inconsistency with the suit as well. Well the size of the shield and the neckline, anyways.
In the Fortress the shiels is rather small and, yeah looked like the one from Superman Returns. And the neckline went almost up to his chin/cheeks.
In the final scene where he's pulling his shirt open, the shield is quite a bit larger (much like it appears in the comics) and the neckline was also a lot lower. I liked what we saw of the final suit much better. -
You know what, ya boo sucks to all the naysayers, I bloody loved it
Yeah, it wasn't without it's flaws, the mind-wipe of Lex had to be done, but could have been done better, for instance.
But Seeing him put on the suit, the new ability to fly, the handing over of the suit, him stopping the psuedo-Darkseid in Lionel, the music, the inspiration......all of it, I loved it
And honestly, given what the series was about, his journey across ten years to BECOME Superman, I never expected a big battle with Darkseid himself, that's a job for Superman, not him in his tux. That's the sort of thing I want to see with a big budget on the big screen, this did what I epxected it to.
And come on, the man pushed away a freaking PLANET!! Can you get more Superman than that??
His journey, the storyline of the series, was all about him becoming the symbol that inspires people, that's what Superman has been about for so long. You want darkness and brooding and fights, go watch Batman, this did what I wanted it to and I loved it all -
Well, I'm all for this, although it should have been done before the merge, not after, but hey, better late than never.
-
On the flip side though, for some of us, it can be very hard to not look at them.
Case in point, I've just woken up in the UK and am getting the last Smallville ep. I know there's a thread on this forum about it. The temptation to read it is INCREDIBLE!!!!
But I'm fighting it.....I really am!!!
*twitches* -
That's....a lot more serious than I expected it to be!
Can't decide if I like it or not yet, and precious little glimpse of David Tennant in the trailer as well.
Could be interesting though. -
Quote:.....o.OAs I've explained elsewhere, it's not about the amount of people who would be affected by the change itself, it's the number of people who wouldn't know if they would be renamed or not beforehand.
So, you're saying it was the decision to definitely upset a lot of people in the EU, rather than possibly upset more people in the US and EU because the MIGHT possibly get their global changed?
That has to be the most ludicrous reasoning I've ever heard -
Quote:Yes, it is, and it's one that would help reduce the number of problems even further. That's a very narrow view of things and extremely selective. Naturally, if they only subbed for 2 months and never came back, sure, give the name up so it's free. From all my time seeing people coming back, I don't think I've read anyone being gone longer than 2 years.
The devs/mods made a good start at reducing the amount of clashes by removing the trial accounts from the list completely, and then giving us the reactivation week so duplicated single people accounts could be fixed as well.
Taking out people who's account had been inactive for a certain amount of time would also have reduced the problem even more, and shown some reward to the people who have been loyal to the game and stayed playing for the 7 years it's been out.
If it was set at 1 year, if someone was to return and say "I used to play this game up to over a year ago and came back and now my global is gone why is this I'm annoyed", how many people on here would be tempted to say "well, tough, that's what happens when you leave, someone who has been loyal got it instead.
Hell, even basing on the amount of time subscribed in total would have been fair, that way the player who has paid the most would get it, again, rewarding the loyalty.
There were numerous ways to reduce the list of clashes that seemed to go completely ignored and we have had no reason given as to why. I, for one, would love to hear the reasoning. -
Yeah, sorry Riff, I'm going to fall into the dissenting crowd as well, here, although not so much for WHAT they did but HOW they did it.
I'm a fan of the list merge, been shouting for it myself, and Rosie has already been testing the waters on Freedom.
The whole mess with the Globals though, that was a farce and downright insulting to the EU players who have been here a long time.
I've still yet to see any redname post as to exactly why it had to be the EU players that had to lose the globals and not the US players? I'm thoroughly fed up with people saying that it was so the "least amount" of people were affected, cos that's just so much horse manure. It's simple maths, if 500 people in the EU had to change their globals cos of a clash, that means there were exactly 500 people in the US with the same global, so why did they not have to change?
And still no response as to why veteran status wasn't discussed as an option? And why Inactive accounts were included over long term players in the EU.
The whole thing has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and I wasn't affected by a global name change, although due to a system setting ****-up, the Rogues Radio has had it's name changed as well.
It could have been delayed a month or two more so better methods were sorted out.
I appreciate what you're trying to say, the Rednames were asked for this and they delivered. Well, done, applause and all that, but next time, don't screw over long term players for the sake of players who have left and "may" come back. -
-
I'm somewhat surprised that not one of the devs chose one of Samuraiko's videos, given how good they are and how most are far better than some of the official videos!
-
I joined in the Union one for about 15 mins in PI until I got bored of fighting War Walkers ad nauseum.
If I want to do that, I'll do the trials, at least that way I'm working towards my incarnate stuff. -
Heh, I'm enjoying the comments, familiar troll skills with a Star Wars twist
-
Sorry, but I'm going with the loyalty aspect. It's only common sense for any business to make sure they look after loyal customers first, rather than someone who subbed for 2 months 5 years ago and has never subbed against since.
Sadly, unless anyone knows the US @Virtue, we'll never know, will we.
Still don't understand this whole "least amount of people" argument. Surely if 500 people in the EU had to have their globals changed due to a clash, that means there were exactly 500 people in the US to change as well? How can there be more or less??
And why the EU players getting shafted despite massive amounts of protests? We've still not had any satisfactory responses to this yet. -
Well, found out what happened with the Rogues radio channel problem, turns out it was an ex EU player who was in our channel when he switched over, his settings as well.
When he started on the US, he loaded his settings and it inadvertantly created the Rogues Radio channel over there for him and he didn't know.
Now we are stuck with a stupidly named channel due a bad system option
Ah well, guess we're stuck with it, seems to be the EU way recently. -

Quote:true, but it would have been nice to know why it wasn't based on time spent subbed or vet reward figures. It is annoying that so many of us lost out to inactive accounts both global wise and character name wise.
It's a farce, but it's done.
My global friends list looked very weird this morning -
I went over to the other side, tried to get my main toon name on all the US servers.
Seems to be about half a dozen people using my name!!
Hope you're all being good
