I would greatly appreciate someone from NC updating us on this debacle; it's just as simple as someone making a call to marketing and asking what the frag is going on...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I too would love an official update from a Red Name on this issue ...

Feh, I've called just about every Walmart in the area (there are about 20) and I can't find a single one that knows anything about the box or whether they will even have it. Most have expressed doubt that they will since with a shelf date of tomorrow they should have seen it already.

Not really familiar with these exclusive through one store offery things : ) When they say that do they mean only the on-line store... which from many of the ppl I spoke to seems possible...

Has anyone found out if a store near them has these in their backstock ready for tomorrow or should I just order over the web now?

    Thank you

    [/ QUOTE ]

    LOL!

They're the only retailer carrying it and no one knows anything about it ..... classic.

Have I mentioned how much I hate the fact that if I want this box I have to buy it from Walmart?

Well, I thought there could be a chance to "reward" people who have been playing for almost 3 years instead of guaging them. It seems like this is the perfect thing to introduce into a rewards system, but you're right, why give something away when you can charge for it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow... I mean really... Wow. They intend to give a veteran rewards system, but because they want newer people to have a chance to get this stuff they're going to charge a measly ten bucks for it and your complaining because "You've already paid your dues"... Well I for one will happily pay my ten dollars in addition to accepting my 2.5 years worth of veteran rewards for playing since the game started. I certainly don't mind whatsoever. Thank you for your hard work Devs in making things I would actually like to pay money for. =)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well said and Totally!

Are we still able to get the stuff from the old special edition - Power Slide, VIP badge, Cape of the Four Winds? Is that available in the store anymore?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This would be good to know as well...
  5. [ QUOTE ]
The official announcement makes no mention of MSRP for the box, and it's not showing on walmart.com. How about letting us know what we'll have to shell out, so we can decide whether the box goodies like the map and the DVD-ROM are worth the difference in price between the in-game purchase and the box?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would love to know the price of the Box as well ....

Just out of curiosity. I look at the Hero accolades, and I see requirements like "Kill 200 Banished Pantheon Spirits" and "Kill 200 Illusionists summoned by Carnie Master Illusionists" and "Kill 100 Lost Bosses" and "Kill 333 of every Croatoa mob type" and "Kill 100 Fake Nemesis robots" and "Kill 100 Paragon Protectors" and "Kill 1000 Rikti Monkeys" and "Kill 100 each of Vampyri and Warwolves".

Portal Jockey, yes, if you do the right contacts. The new Task Force Commander, also yes, if you squeeze in all the content. Invader, eventually. Marshall, also eventually. But every single other Accolade requires farming something specifically to get badges, and this has been true since Accolades were added to the game. And that's if we don't count finding all the specific exploration badges and plaques - at that point, they all become unreachable except by those who're specifically setting out to get badges.

Where, exactly, does this idea that the Accolades are supposed to be obtained through 'normal play' come from?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Things are different for heroes and villains, and in a lot of cases easier for heroes. I am not crying nerf for heroes, and make everything harder, but give the villains a break.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had a problem with Nigh Indestructible. Unbreakable is bearable, but still needs to be worked after level 50 (normal play).

I still have a problem with Deathless for High Pain Threshold (10% more HPs). Debt slows us down. It is not fair.

The hero version is easily obtained at level 21 (grab a mentor for fakies). Villains will have a hard time getting it by level 40.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unbreakable is still tough to obtain before 50 I'll grant you that, but I have had HPT and Deathless on my Brute since level 42.
  8. ... omg ... Now the true DOOOOM! begins ....

  9. Hmmm ... perhaps I was just pleased to have 90% S/L on my Fire Tanker back then.

    /em Sigh
  10. I will simply point to Fire Tankers pre GDN and ED.

No Defense to speak of, just resistance. Capped at 90%

Never had to worry, had enough Health to keep alive till HF was up. Get in trouble, pop an Insp of some flavor.

What I was saying is that a blended approach is what leaves the set lackluster in it's current state.

They should redesign invulnerable to follow it's name, "INVULNERABLE". If they would just crank up our DR to a lot and they can get rid of all this extra +def, then we can die like true invulnerables. Death by a thousand cuts. Instead of being an offspring of the super reflexes set. We are invulnerable ...we should not be hard to hit, but hard to hurt.

It should be ... hit me all you want, I might be bruised, broken, and bleeding, but I'm not dead yet.

Before the whole nerfing the DR cap and stupid ED, I use to test out how much punishment my INV could take by turning invinci off. It was GREAT! I took a beating before I dropped dead.

When UY first came out it was awesome!!! We were easier to hit but we didn't mind cause we were INVULNERABLE!

But then they decided to nerf the DR cap and now we are just an SR crossbreed. Further more ED. I wonder who's brilliant idea that was. It only forced us to enhance our powers to look exactly like the next person. OOooo look at me.. I'm a cookie cutter hero!

If my hide is tough... I think it would equal to being harder to hurt. Not harder to hit.

Invincibility should increase DR cap or something, but the more mobs around me then I am easier to hit. I am surrounded after all.

It's like superman =) you can hit him all you want. He is not hard to hit. But he is hard to hurt =)

So my opinion is stop making us part super reflexes and make us invulnerable already.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with the spirit of this post. Invulnerable isn't anything near what someone would picture as Invulnerable. Removing Defense from the set and making it pure Resistance would go a long way toward making this set like it's namesake.

It makes me think that they thought of only 8 powers, but had to fill in 9 tiers. So... let's subtract DEF here (UY) and put it over here (TH), to tone down the potential DEF provided by Invinc. Viola! 9 powers!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unyielding was originally Unyielding Stance and it had no -DEF component. It did, however, make you immobile. This was incredibly unpopular and it was decided to remove that penalty. At that point, the -DEF was added to replace the Immobilize penalty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We know the history, but why is it needed after the GDN and ED?

    Fiery Aura

Sounds like a hard line there Castle. Yes, assuming you have a friend with some Immobilize, Hold or other, or you take a single target hold or immob from an APP then yes, Burn actually gets to tick long enough to get to 2/3 of a minions Health.

The way it sounds like the set is intended to play is a schizophrenic firebug scattering mobs willy nilly to chase them down. We're supposed to use Burn as it's our Immob protection but we're constantly chasing running mobs.

There has to be a better way for this set to function now. The overarching fear component of Burn is a killer.

I'm interested to know what can be done about our KB protection though as you mention it. If that is fixed, many can skip leaping if they do use Burn 'as it's intended'.

Very cool. Love the Malta, and these little tidbits of info make them that much scarrier.

On thing though, there's a typo in the sentence "A hero corned by a Sapper will find he or she is unable to sustain most powers, and will be easy prey for the SapperÂ’s back-up."

I don't know what it's like to be 'corned' by a sapper, and I don't want to know

    Missed that typo LOL!

    erm ..... ouch?

I've lowered the requirements for this from needing the "Nigh Indestructible" badge (100,000,000 damage taken) to "Unbreakable" (10,000,000 damage taken).

This is in a future patch (not on the Training Room yet). I don't know when it will be promoted to TR or to the live servers, but it is in the pipeline.

You need to remember that a red name once said these second sets of badges were put in place to take months if not years of game play to aquire depending on the at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which is precisely why it shouldn't be a requirement for an Accolade that would allegedly help you on the road to level 50, not 12 months after you've achieved level 50.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure I'd expect this to keep working like that for very long

Sounds like something they hadn't thought of.

Infinity's experience pre-I7 has been that about 30 trollers and 10AMs kept him held. I figure either your Victory server numbers were off, you had some weird server issues and/or disconnects, or they did more to the Hamidon than allow him to attack while held. Given the top-notch type of communication we receive from the devs, I wouldn't rule out the latter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

After peeling open several granite armored Stone brutes in Recluse's Victory, I'm starting to suspect that what the failed Hami raids needed is more Mind Controllers.

I haven't done any tests, but I'm pretty sure that 30 Hami-slotted Mind Controllers under a decent amount of AM would be able to chain-hold God.
