3 slot temp protection and put an entire set of steadfast in. also put a karma: kb io in combat jumping and 3 slot super jump and put in a nentire set of blessing of the zephyr. that will be 12 points of kb prtection which is more then enough for anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You can probably get better set bonuses for those two extra slots of Steadfast; at most I'd say get the Res/+3% Def to pair with the Knockback IO if you want. The Res/End piece with minor +HP set bonus just shorts you on Enh%.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except it's Temperature Protection we're talking about here. The enhancement % is irrelevent because it caps Fire resist unslotted I believe. If you have the extra slots it's a good deal.
  2. Survivability-wise my Sonic/Devices blows my other blasters out of the water.

Siren's Song a mob, wake one up with Screech, beat it down with ST attacks, wake one up with Taser, beat it down with ST attacks. I can go through a mob like that before SS wears off (they sleep for almost a minute and a half the way I have it slotted) and they never get a shot off, and if they do my ranged defense is close to softcapped, so they probably won't hit me.

I also have a Stealth IO in Hover and Cloaking Device so they don't see me before I put them to sleep.

Only downside to it is my AoE sucks.
  3. No problem.

I slot Hot Feet for slow more than damage, and drop Rain of Fire at my feet. They generally run around in panicky slow motion for the duration of Rain of Fire. They usually don't ever get outside the radius of my FSC. Things are usually dead so fast they don't have time to get very far.

this is a theme im seeing by alot of you CoH players. Do you guys not realize that its extremely fun to kill huge powerful bosses?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes it IS fun to kill huge powerful bosses.

Difference being, it doesn't require 40 people to kill the majority of the GMs in CoH. My wife and I can kill most of them with just the two of us. I have a character that, when he is done and slotted up, will be capable of doing it alone.

That's the difference for me between the games right there in a nutshell.

In WoW you're just another grunt in an army. The big challenges require large groups to complete. If your RL schedule doesn't mesh with a raid that's happening you have to wait until someone wants to organize another one.

In CoH you are an individual superhero. You don't need an entire army backing you up to achieve something. Being able to tackle tough challenges by myself makes me feel like I'm a real hero. It is also a lot easier to put together a Task Force on the spur of the moment than it is to organize a raid. If your RL schedule doesn't mesh with an event, just start your own when you can log on.

Playstyle differences are a factor too. In WoW, any boss fight pretty much requires the holy trinity of tank/healer/DPS. Many things cannot be beaten at all if you are missing one of the three.

In CoH you can meet 95% of the challenges in the game with any combination of characters and succeed.

In WoW you are expected to pretty much focus your attention on one character. You pick a job, you stick with it. Once you're a tank, you're a tank.

In CoH you are encouraged to create many characters. I have enough characters at high levels that I can bring just about anything that will help a team do something easier.

I just don't really like the time-sink factor of WoW. I can log on to CoH for 20 minutes, run a mission, and log out. From what I've heard about WoW, logging on for 20 minutes s basically a waste of time because you won't accomplish anything.

You're approaching this the wrong way. You're saying that if CoH were more like WoW it would be more fun.

What you're not taking into account that the fact that CoH is NOT like WoW is the reason most of the players here find it to be fun.

MMOs are not all the same, nor should they be. If CoH were like WoW I would not play it. In a similar vein, if WoW were like CoH, a lot of the players there would not play it.

See I hadn't included that purely because I was like, "When does Stamina Fire? How and when would it trigger? If you wouldn't mind clarifying or linking to somewhere that explains Chance to X on passive powers, I would greatly appreciate it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It pretty much works like this: With a passive power a Chance to X proc checks for it to go off every ten seconds.

So, in the case of the Performance Shifter Chance for +End every ten seconds it will check to fire and has a 20% chance of doing so.

    [ QUOTE ]
One last question, off the top of your head is there anything that provides points of protection to Sleep? That's the thing I seem to get hit with most often. That and Knockback.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not that I know of. There are a few things that grant resistance to it, but nothing that grants protection.

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm curious to see how Blazing Aura works and to see if I like it. I'm not sure that I will, if I don't, I'll be giving Fire Breath a shot. Either way, it'll be interesting. I feel like I have a much firmer grasp on the new (to me) IO system now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I like Hot Feet better. The damage is comparable, and when enemies enter it they will tend to run away from you rather than get pissed and wail on you in melee range. It's a Damage/Slow power, so when you slot for both they run away really slooooooow.
  6. CoH is geared more toward the casual player (no pun intended)

Personally I don't like the playstyle found in WoW where you raid so you can get the gear you need to raid so you can get the gear you need to raid so you can get the gear you need to raid so you can get the gear you need to.....see where I'm going with this?

In CoH you can go out of your way to get the coolest, most powerful enhancements if you want...but, you aren't gimped if you just play with basic Single Origins.

Me? I'm somewhere in-between. I like getting cool stuff for my characters, but I feel no real drive to do it right now. I IO out my toons as stuff drops and as I can afford it. I watched a friend of mine play WoW for a few hours and that was all it took for me to decide that I wasn't interested in it.

The way the game seems to work is, if you have a life outside of the game you are going to lag behind the hardcore players and be useless in the next raid because you don't have the Thingie of Awesome that everyone else has. I just have no interest in a game that requires you to spend that much time on it to do well.

The endgame content that exists in CoH is more to give the level 50s something to do rather than being the goal to get to, if that makes sense. In WoW you get to the max level as fast as you can to start playing the game. In CoH, if you get to the max level as fast as you can....you skipped most of the game.

The question is how ultra rare are these recipes intended to be?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Answer: extremely ultra rare.

The fact that the devs did NOT allow them to be purchased with merits should have been a dead giveaway there. It was never intended for everyone to have as many of them as they wanted.

They are supposed to be special. If everyone had them they wouldn't be very special would they?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
aye I was going to drop the Stamina Pool and get Shockwave + the other Dark Wave power... If TT has a knockback hold in its Immob that is... I was going for the damage proc's because TT is a dot more chances for them to proc..

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only powers I can think of off the top of my head that offer more chances to proc are rain powers, because they make a to-hit check against anything within the radius of the power for each tick.

If TT hits everything affected by it will take the DoT, it has already determined that the power hit. So, since procs check to see if they go off simultaneously with the to-hit check you only get one chance for it to proc.

If someone could clarify that I understand/explained that correctly it would be nice.
  10. Not gonna happen. I'll explain why with my limited knowledge on the subject.

A bug can be caused by something completely unrelated to what the bug is affecting. An example:

Say you're experiencing a bug where your wings only flap while hovering and not when flying. Now you'd think that would have something to do with the recent hover/fly minimum speed buffs.

But, when they look, they see nothing unusual there. So, they have to look somewhere else to find it. Finally after a month of searching they discover that a line of code put in to alter the MM pet Bruiser's Hand Clap caused the hover/fly wings bug.

So, they go ahead and fix that now that they know what it is. Unfortunately, the line of code they wrote to fix THAT bug, caused a bug in the behavior of an EB in a 4 year old mission.

Short answer: Every single line of code in this game is intertwined with every other line of code. Fixing one bug, more often than not, causes another bug to pop up somewhere else.

Your suggestion of spending an issue doing nothing but fixing bugs would have the real-world result of the developers never doing anything else to the game, ever again. Which I, and presumably a lot of other people, do not want.

So, you can accept that they ARE working to fix bugs while they do other stuff as well, or you can continue to be pissy because they aren't dropping everything else to fix all the bugs, and then all the bugs they created when they fixed them, and then all the bugs they created when they fixed THEM, and so on and so forth.

  12. My main and namesake Claws and Effect.

    Marshall Stack - Sonic/Devices blaster

    Black Sunshine - DM/Nin stalker

    Night Mirror - Dark/Kin corruptor

    Magnetic North - Grav/Ice dominator

Return to Cinder - Fire/Fire blaster (his powers first manifested in a post office)

    Prophet Margin - Fire/TA controller

That's all the ones I especially like.
  13. Yes, Original Poster. This game is made by godless heathens who are completely morally bankrupt. The fact that our characters can now change gender clearly demonstrates the lack of morals in todays society.

Thank the heavens for people like you pointing out how everything we know is wrong and you are the only path to righteousness!!

How can I be just like you?

    Brainwashing?

    Lobotomy?

Or do I just have to develop a sense of complete moral superiority and intolerance for those that live in a way other than what I find acceptable.

Please tell me! I really want to be just like you!

    Down Time??

    [ QUOTE ]
My money is on i15. It's a shame too, here in central California we're experiencing 105+ degree temperatures all this week. So I likely won't be updating my MA arcs or actually playing much if at all, until it cools off.

    ...Stupid summer weather.. *kicks it*

    [/ QUOTE ]

Huh? I would think heat like that would be a perfect time to hang out inside in air conditioning. Unless you A) don't have AC and your computer will overheat, or B) Your AC uses so much power your computer crashes.
  15. If you just hit 41 and haven't started Dark Mastery yet you won't be able to 6 slot Tenebrous Tentacles. You would have to take it at 49 since you need 2 other powers from the pool to unlock it. 4 slots is the most you will be able to put in it.

I wouldn't waste the slots on the damage procs to be honest. It's not really meant as a damage power for scrappers, it's more utility.

I like Body Mastery myself. Energy Torrent is awesome for scrappers. Don't pay any attention to the in-game info, it was changed to a knockDOWN power instead of knockback. Plus it deals decent damage and can crit. TT can crit too, but the damage is so low you barely notice it.
  16. The lack of stun protection would leave you completely helpless against the Tsoo Ink Men that gang up on you 10 on 1 with Energy Melee.

    Down Time??

    [ QUOTE ]
Well someone is up at this time and I see plenty of moderators on this board, and I even saw a red name here too.

Maybe you haven't noticed but the info we get in game actually states to go to the forum for further information as to why the game is shutting down, so would it be to hard to actually do this for a change?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have noticed actually. It has said the exact same thing every time for the 3+ years I've been here, whether there is information to be found or not.

They just haven't posted it yet. And also, if it's just routine maintenance there are no updates TO read about.

The devs and GMs are usually pretty good about telling us what's going on. If they didn't say anything it is a good indication that they decided to do routine maintenance a little early today, that's all.

    Server Time

    [ QUOTE ]
I've got a foxclock set to Oklahoma time to keep track of a friend's comings and goings. According to it, it's 6 AM there. That would make it 5 AM in California, right?

With that in mind, is it odd that the servers have gone down at 5 in the morning?

    [/ QUOTE ]

4 AM actually, Oklahoma is Central time, California is Pacific time, there is Mountain time between them.

Maybe there is an emergency fix going through on top of normal server maintenance.
  19. ClawsandEffect

    Down Time??

Ummm....you think maybe the lack of warning might have something to do with the fact that it's 4:00 AM in Northern California, where all the people with the authority to make such a post live and work?

You seriously expect Posi to get up at 3:30 just to make a post saying that the servers will be down?

The in-game warning is automatic, or is the result of a button someone pushes in the server rooms, I doubt there is anyone there actually typing that out.
  20. First off (speaking from painful experience here) you will be disappointed taking a DA anything into PvP.

Secondly, stealth will let you get the drop on someone every now and then but it pans out like this:

Non-stalker PvP stealth cap is around 571 feet. Base perception is 500 feet. Any toon with ANY perception bonuses at all will see you. Tactics is very common in PvP, and there are plenty of powers that grant +Perception. The +Perception IO adds an additional 20%, so anyone with one of those slotted is at 600 feet perception range, before taking any bonuses from their powers into account.

Stealth for anything but a stalker is useless in PvP in 9 out of 10 situations.

Also, Invisibility will NOT stack with Cloak of Darkness. It says so right in the power description, so don't waste your power picks unless you're working toward Phase Shift. CoD has the same defense rating as Weave, you would be better off just getting a Stealth IO, as that WILL stack with CoD.
  21. I use MoG as an Oh Sh!& button. If I'm taking a lot of damage and don't have a heal up, i pop it to buy me a few secinds for my passive regen to heal me a little and hopefully to have Recon come back. I took it at 49 and only have one slot in it (probably getting a LotG when I can afford it)

Note about taking it at 49: I don't exemp with my claws/regen, ever.
  22. ClawsandEffect

    Warwolfs?

There's a mission that Lars Hansen gives you that is entirely Vamps too. The one with the capsules in it. I think they nerfed the xp on the vamps from the capsules, but they still count toward the badge.

It's been a while since we had one of these copyright violation/generic bat/narc threads. We need to do this more often since there seemed to be a lot of pent up drama being unleashed here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is it just me or does all the drama seem to be coming from a few people spouting the "Mind your own business!" argument.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Think they have trademarked characters they want to keep?
  24. My actual thought on the topic of splitting the fitness pool is the effect it would have on hundreds of thousands of characters.

For example: the characters that already have all the pools they can take lose a randomly chosen power pool and all the enhancements that no longer fit anywhere?

What happens to those Numina's and Miracle uniques if you end up no longer having Health to slot them in, and your enhancement tray is full when the change goes through? Or any number of other high-priced enhancements you could lose.

Adding power pools I have no problem with. Splitting them would lead to massive problems and would have slight game-killer potential (depending on exactly how it was handled)
  25. [ QUOTE ]
But as a rule, I NEVER, EVER report ANYONE for potential copyright infringement.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Me neither. I report them for ACTUAL copyright/trademark infringement.

Your character you described would have been fine. You let some dillhole bully you into deleting a character that couldn't have been genericed in the first place.

Had I seen that character I would have said: "Heh, nice, surprised you got that name."

    [ QUOTE ]
So, if you have had a toon generiched...believe me...it was NOT me that turned you in...I'm not a rat!

    [/ QUOTE ]

No one accused you of being one. This isn't the mafia or a street gang where reporting something is a punishable offense.

But, your stance here implies that anyone who DOES report things is a rat/tattltale/snitch/whatever.

So, feel free to not report people. It doesn't matter to me in the slightest if you do or not. But please refrain from insulting people who do.
