    • 75 % Regen buff for 10 seconds
    • 50 % Recovery buff for 10 seconds
    • Knockdown in some powers.

I was putting Staff behind Dark Melee for tanker mitigation, with Ice Melee third, but after looking at these lists Staff might belong on top.
    It definitely does.

When used on a Tanker, Guarded Spin gives 15% defense.

And Sky Splitter gives 10% resistance for Tankers.

Pair those with the ability to have an additional 33% global end reduction on top of the defense it gives you and it pulls ahead a bit more (though you can't have the end reduction and +Resistance at the same time)

I have a DA/Staff tank, and I haven't had endurance problems at all since level 20 when I got Staff Mastery. That's a huge benefit for Dark Armor in particular.

It is not always damage output that makes a set good. Ice Control and Earth Control are very good control sets, but their damage output is....anemic to say the least.

Staff Fighting for Tankers isn't a high damage set, but it is a very good set if you want to be a good tanker.
  2. Honestly, it would be difficult to come up with a combination that can't solo an AV. Maybe Spines would have issues, but pretty much everything else should be able to.

The REAL questions are: How much money can you spend on it, and how fast do you want to drop them?

The two questions directly affect each other. You can build an AV soloer on a budget, but it won't be doing it as fast as an uber-expensive monster build.

I'm fond of my BS/DA, but it is mostly due to the opinions of others that just about anything would be a better choice for AV soloing than Broadsword.

My Claws/Regen can do it if I'm having a good day and the RNG is feeling kind.

I have a Street Justice/Shield that should be able to do it with very little difficulty.

See, I don't know if you shoot for overkill on survivability, or if I've just been luckier when playing my BS/DA, but I've never felt like I needed DR coming back that fast.

Mine recharges in about 17-18 seconds, and it's always been up when I needed it.

Or maybe I'm just not pushing my scrapper quite as hard as you are.

That makes sense. I'm going with Ageless on my BS/DA to help with his lack of recharge.

I haven't touched my spreadsheets for months at this point, and when I do get back to them, probably I'll want to plug in some of my own builds first (recently fiddling with SS/Invuln Tanker and Katana/Dark Scrapper). If you don't want to wait for me to get back into the swing of things, you could track down the calculator John Printemps put together. It creates official Werner-licensed Wernerscores.
No rush on my end. Drop me a line if you ever feel like running other people's builds through it. I'm happy with my build as is, it's more curiosity than anything else that prompted me to ask.

My Fire/Fire/Mace blaster build doesn't even have the nuke.

I can immobilize a spawn and jump in the middle of it with soft-capped defense and let my 2 damage auras and PBAoEs wreck them in seconds flat.

FSC, Fireball and Combustion take them down to a sliver of health, which is handled by my damage auras. Throw in a Blaze for a boss and I'm on to the next spawn.

No Drain Psyche for Fire/Fire, but I do have Aid Self for topping up between fights.

Is it the "ultimate" blaster? I don't know, I do know it's pretty damn devastating though.

It's very doable....at the expense of virtually all of your other defenses.

I got a Claws/Regen soft-capped to S/L, so I know for a fact it's possible to hit 59% in a single Parry with a DA, but you are going to lose almost everything else to do it.

Not worth it in my opinion.

BTW, are you still doing Wernerscore spreadsheets? I'd like to ask you to plug my Claws/Regen's new build into it if so.
  7. How often is Breath of FIre used?

If it's not that frequent, you might want to consider putting at least the +res proc in an attack that is used more often.

It will be irrelevant for your S/L since it's already capped, but it will be a nice boost for your other resistances.
  8. My build will be remaining unchanged for the time being. I'm focused on other characters, namely my DA/Staff tank at the moment.

    Fixing PvP?

    I say leave it alone.

Seriously, what is it actually hurting to leave it in place?

If you don't like PvP and see no reason to keep it around, you have just as much right to completely ignore it as you always have.

More to the point: If you encourage the developers to start telling subsets of their playerbase that they don't matter by removing their favorite activity (because that's exactly what this is), how long before YOU are one of the people they are telling that?

I'm not a huge PvPer, and I'm well aware of how obnoxious PvPers can be. But that doesn't mean they deserve to get screwed over any more than they already have.

Okay, I thought they were 800 points.

Don't you still have to buy them individually though? Like, buying part 1 gets you part 1, but if you want to play part 2 you need to go buy that too?

I'm a VIP so I actually can't buy them. But if you have to buy them individually, that's still $35 you have to pay that VIP gets for free.

  13. He's as good as he was then.

Build wizardry has improved somewhat since then, and there are some new tricks, but you could play him as he is there with no major issues.

On Broad Sword, though, it's harder to say where to put the Hecatomb proc. It doesn't have an every other attack spammer like Katana. If you do the 5xCI + LotG slotting, though, there's no room for it in Parry.
With my particular build it's all irrelevant anyway, because I need the full set of Mako's in it to keep my soft-cap.

But, since mine is a budget build, if I could figure out a way to soft-cap ranged without that Mako's set (possibly adding the Glad Armor 3%), I will indeed be putting the Hecatomb proc in Parry. That's because I need to keep Parry doublestacked to maintain my melee soft-cap, so for me it IS my every other attack filler power.

3 Nucleolus, LotG +Recharge, Hecatomb proc, and a random other proc would be the slotting I go with if I had unlimited funds.

Oh, did you know you can slot the Scrapper ATO Crit chance increase in Soul Transfer? It's nice if you want just that piece but don't have room in your build anywhere else.

Nononono. That's going to completely murder your aggro control.

Doesn't seem to hurt Dark Armor any.

You'd be pretty dumb to skip DA's stealth power, since it's defense doesn't suppress and is the same as you get from Weave. I haven't had any issue keeping agro with mine.

So, stealth in and of itself probably isn't going to hurt a tank much.

There are many powers you could take that would be more useful for Invuln though, that I will grant.

If I don't need a defense bonus from the set that is slotted in it I go with 5xCrushing Impact and a LotG +Recharge (which also buffs defense)

Edit: Werner, I'd put a Hecatomb damage proc in it if I could easily afford one. I spam the crap out of it, so that one proc would increase my damage output more than any amount of damage slotting I could do.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the large Team Inspirations obtained through Super Packs last a full 5 minutes.

I have not found anything in the packs to be useless. Using the metric butt ton of inspirations I've gotten, I can start from 0% and stay at the Incarnate soft-cap on defense for almost 2 hours.

I leave them in my email and just claim them when I need them.

I do the same with the Experienced powers I get. If you claim a bunch of them you have to wait until it recharges. If you claim them one at a time you can use them instantly.

I don't know if the Revival and Restore powers work the same, but I'm assuming they do.

Can't kill a single group of level 50 enemies while you're at work or sleeping, or watching a movie, or any number of other real life things that keep you away from your computer.

    I'm against it because:

    1) It's exploitable (laughable as that exploitation is)

    2) Is getting 1 influence for your trouble REALLY going to be incentive for someone to stop and help a citizen that they'd normally speed right on past? If you want to help citizens by killing the level 1 Hellion harassing them, are you REALLY going to be so petty as to demand compensation for it?

I can just see Superman stopping a mugging and turning toward the victim: "Okay, he's gone. That'll be $5 please."

Titan Weapons only has 4 basic models. The weapon pack doubled it.

Staff came with 8 models to begin with (unfortunately 4 of them are interchangeable)

    That's probably why though.

That's because PvP in this game has never been especially popular.

Changing all of the things you're suggesting will.......still leave you with no one to PvP against.

That's not because it's too hard to find, or unbalanced. It's simply because the vast majority of the players in this game just plain aren't interested in PvP in any form.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've found anyone willing to fight me at all lately. And they were all new-ish or inexperienced PvPers. I haven't lost a fight since November, and the reason for that has more to do with the fact that the experienced players don't care about PvP than it does any skill I have (I'm a slightly above average PvPer at best).

Freedom is the unofficial PvP server for a reason. The overwhelming majority of the people who are interested in PvPing with any regularity voluntarily moved there to consolidate the PvP population.

    Not really.

The specific scenario I was talking about was the neighborhood in Atlas Park where the Hellions spawn super frequently.

I've tried it myself as an experiment (teaming with a lowbie free account with xp turned off), and ran into an issue that prevents it. The LTs will run outside your damage aura and shoot you from range. The next group of Hellions won't spawn until the first group is all defeated.

The only way you can afk farm those groups is if they are weak enough in comparison to you that your damage aura kills the LTs before they can run out of it. It is currently not possible to do that in that area and get rewards from it.
  23. There's going to be a ton of complaints about people wasting their points if they do this, but I have no issue with it personally (since I know what I already have unlocked as a VIP)

Just put it under the VIP content tab and nowhere else, to save confusion.

My sale price was as low as it could possibly go. I didn't force them to spend that much, they did so of their own volition.

But according to you, I'm ripping people off.

    Nice.
  25. I don't think this is going to fly.

Currently, the packs cost points or tokens, which means you are spending real money on them in some way or another. Thus they are making the game money.

If you put them in the game for influence, any Premium player with enough tiers to have a higher influence cap will be able to get them for free (as far as game revenue is concerned).

And a lot of people who currently buy them would start getting them that way as well, which would cut into the revenue the store-bought ones are bringing in.

Don't see this one happening, though I wouldn't really care if it did. 250 million influence is more than I'd be willing to pay for a couple inspirations and some reward merits.
