Lets say there there isn't just humans involved in this imaginary Zombie MMO but the option to play the big old walking corpses themselves.

Now I imagine that Zombie skills would obviously be different from human skills, however Zombies are purely combat focused, they're there to munch brains, delicious, nutrious brains.

To me this would lead to having Zombie skills lean more into granting abilities.

For example, lets say you start out as your basic walker, alone you're not that much threat to player characters, in huge hordes yes because you can overwhelm.

Now the skills would personally see as leading down various Zombie archetypes which crop up in gaming. While there should always be a generic skill pool for Zombies to take from (basic increased toughness, shuffle speed etc.).

It's the balancing of these two which has me puzzled.
I think part of the problem with this side of the idea is that zombies (as defined here) are by nature more limited in focus. They're not interested in a possibly large range of skills, just getting to eat someone faster.

    Think of it this way:
-the many ways a 'troller can/may function (heals, buffs, debuffs, lockdowns, pets, etc.)

    - the way a brute works, if all brutes were limited to the war mace set ("SMASH! MORE SMASH!")

To even this up, you'd have to come up with more types of zombies: spell-casting zombies, attack-specialist zombies (bigger teeth or armored or something???), fast-infecter, smarter-than-yer-average-zombies, pet-controlling zombies, what have you.

    Enter Game Sound

I'll second the "not impressed"ness here. I read on the beta forums someone comparing it to the sound of someone snerffling their nose and now I can't unhear it. I'm hoping I'll get used to it, but if I don't, I'll be back to grab that thingy to replace it.

Fire/Traps rocks as well in those regards and it does have a shield which doesn't take much worry.

    Trailer > Movie

Trailers are of course constructed to make any dog of a movie look better, so I always take them with a grain of salt; when I see them and still think 'meh', I get reeeeally suspicious about the film.

What gets me are trailers that try to make a film look epic by spoiling parts of the film. I recall seeing the ad on tv for Star Trek III that had this wonderful line, "Be here for the final voyage of the starship Enterprise!" over footage of the saucer section going boom and the ship dropping from orbit... I was hanging out with a friend when we saw that, a huge Trek nerd friend. He slumped to the floor.

    We should get server rhinos.
Best suggestion as it would negate the horses/goats argument.

The best way to go about this in my experience is usually to say "don't worry, the devs are working on it".

If I'd popped open a new tray, gone into the menu and found the unlock option (or even used the /optionset disabledrag 0 command), then opened up my Powers and scrolled through the 50 temp powers I have looking for the new ones to add to the new tray, there's no way I'd have been still alive by the time I was ready to fight - I ended up just using all my regular powers for this bit.
Wait, it actually gave *new* powers?! I thought it just "super-charged" me or something, judging by how fast I was moving. Oh well, my MA/SR scrapper villain still did fine.

Unrelated notes from me: last map, I lost the mage guy following me and had to do the usual go-hunt-lead-slowly thing.

Go. Hunt. Lead slowly. Across a huge map.

    Really devs?

    Really?

My arc A Wake For Dead 6 is 5 to 15, might be good for a run too.

  15. Fraid not. No part of the game works that way, so nothing within the MA will either. :/

    Good news, if true!
  17. I haven't (yet?) made a tribute toon, but I know the first day I logged into the new game, I think I was standing in the tutorial with three different ones. I didn't even have to check the powers sets, the names gave them all away, such as "Dr. Gallifrey" - and at least one will be genericized at some point in the future.

That was more interesting than I thought it would be (please don't take that the wrong way guys!). I look forward to seeing more of these about other arcs.
  20. I quite enjoyed this one. I really liked the way they played with the editing, camera angles and the music was really interesting. And I totally called the Nimon being (at least sort of name-checked) involved, and yet I was kidding when I did so. :P
  21. Yikes! I have to change my submitted arc, I tried it out to make sure it wasn't affected by the current AE bug and, yep, it was. So drop that one and I'll submit instead Against The Wickerwork Khan!, arc number in my sig. I checked that one and it's still ok, surprisingly enough.

  23. I was under the impression from the i21 beta-bug threads that, for now, no arcs with custom toons can published, no pre-existing arcs can be edited and re-published, etc. I may be wrong on that though.

It makes me sad though, here we are with any number of slots we want and... (insert raspberry sound effect here). I'm thinking to retool an arc idea I've had to make it completely based around an in-game group... but I still had one open slot anyways. :/

I can't imagine those slots are selling too well right now, ya know?
  24. That was a very nice post about Lord_Of_time, Turgenev. The way you described him reminds me very much of a current IRL friend (who I cannot get into the game no matter how hard I try), so I get an idea of what your friendship was like and how you must miss him. Sadly I never knew LoT myself.

    All that said...

Do so now and think of him. As you get sucked into the world of Doctor Who, he's going to be looking over your shoulder saying "See? I told you so."

Wow, it is really as bad as you make it sound? Long story, but I can't get to the beta/test server (whichever it is) to take a look at this and I've been wondering... well, maybe worrying is a better term...
