Another pet oddity.
I had all 6 zombies out in Oro. I was doing the flashback arc. I got to the mission where you go fix the zig breakout.
I zoned in and all 3 of my tier 1 zombies zoned with me (and were useable). Of course, being zombies, they're stupid and got stuck trying to jump the fence. I dismissed them and recast. Only 1 came back. Which is as it should have been.
When I finished the mission, I exited and my tier 2 and tier 3 zombies were with me and only 1 of the tier one zombies.
So, I guess the tier 2 and 3 zombies go in my bag of holding while I am in the mission. -
I seem to be having an odd reoccuring issue when playing now that I have loaded Windows 7.
The game runs fine, but I get a quick flash to the screen, the task bar comes up, then a quick flash back to the game screen. However, the screen is frozen. If I go back to the task bar and click on the CoX icon, the game comes back fine. I know the game is still playing because if I press a movement button while the screen is frozen, my character will have moved when I get the screen back after visiting the task bar.
Doing some research, I opened the event log from the task manager. I have the following events posted that match the times my screen has frozen. They are all the same and always a pair of events one second apart.
First Event:
A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by a process (City of Heroes).
Second Event:
The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because composition was disabled by a running application.
I also sometimes get a message that says something to the effect "City of Heroes doesn't support the current desktop color scheme, reverting to basic scheme."
Has anyone come across anything like this? It's a minor annoyance, but it also seems to knock out Ventrillo when it happens.
Thanks. -
Just played a little on test.
I was playing my 50 Spines/Regen Scrapper in PI and started opening presents. I think the Frostlings have been eating stupid pills. None of them attacked me after opening the present. They conned blue, green, and grey. Even after I attacked them, they just stood there. The grey's used to sometimes attack, but they always ran away.
I zoned into AP and saw a big red message about the Winter Lortd leaving a special present. It flashed by pretty quickly tho. Would love a marker for the present.
I was part of 2 teams that fought Lord Winter. It was very interesting and fun for a 50. It's also interesting that this GM is geared for more range friendly fighting.. i.e. toggle dropping for melee characters. I actually liked getting held as that never happens to my scrapper.. gives the character a new obstacle to deal with. However, the toggle dropping kinda confused me. I thought only damaging toggles got dropped when held, not passives. My integration and focus acc went down a lot. Or is the Lord Winter just dropping ALL toggles randomly?
I didn't mind the "grey out" as much as others did.. it really let me know something was up.. especially when the GM's text bubble was at the top of my screen and covered by my navigation window. (With everything going on in the combat window, the GM's chat scrolls by way too fast - that's not a complaint.
A timer on the nav window would be good for the LW spawn.
OVer all it was enjoyable! -
Okay.. I know it's trivial.. but WHY hasn't this been fixed? It's been 4 years!!!
The mission from Seer Marino.. Steal Research From Legacy Chain.. the yellow arrow on the ground has NEVER pointed to the right door.. it always points to the door to the mission that you just completed (Steal Wretch's Medical Records).
Maybe I'll bring it up at Hero Con... In fact, I probably will..
Edited to add: Actually, the navigator bar totally gets hosed when that mission is up. I highlighted the base portal on the map and it was north of me on the map.. I had to face south for the marker on the nav compass to show as being in front of me. It's really wierd.. maybe it's NOT such a trivial bug -
Quote:What you've described as your vision of new content is just about what they have included in in issue updates. If they are producing a paid expansion, I trust them to make it more than an issues worth of content. If they were to charge us for the amount of content of an issue, I think there would be hell to pay from the customer base.I think we've already seen a huge gap in content creation. I would expect it to continue right up to GR, but I expect GR to arrive in the next few months (2-6 mo.), and likely sooner rather than later.
Also, I'm not sure GR will provide us with "a huge heap of content." I hope it does, but I suspect otherwise.
We know we'll have the "going rogue" content that is specific for changing sides. I expect this to be about an arc long, one arc for each side, basically somewhat similar to the Midnighter arc. You complete the arc and it gives you a Rogue badge that enables access to both red and blue side.
After that, I guess we'll have some cooperative zone Praetorian stuff. I foresee content along the lines of the Faultline / RWZ, with Fusionette and Jim Temblor being replaced by the two new rogues, and the Praetorian factions replacing the Rikti. There should be at least one new zone for all the action, but I'm thinking the zones may be closer to Cimerora or Ouroboros in size as opposed to IP or Nerva.
So ... just change a few paragraphs of text, pop in the new NPCs, place a few sewer doors and office doors on a new zone map, and voila!
There will also be the two new power sets, plus some new rogue/Praetorian costume items.
I believe this is going to be a release that's at least the size of Villains. -

You may be using the boards.cityofvillains.com portal, which isn't allowing logins to stick.
Use the boards.cityofheroes.com portal. Change the skin to villains. Click on English. Bookmark that page.
I was about to complain that I couldn't get my log in to work unless I went to the "register" tab.. at which point it told me I was already registered and the log in stuck.
Now when I come in from the heroes side, my log in sticks and my skin changes to villains like it should!
YAY!!! -

SO I noticed this a couple of months ago but no one I talked to had any idea what I was talking about.
Some Graveyard Gates swing open now when you bump against them. Tis I think is fantastic. If its something that has been around for years..oops. If it is relatively new....yaaa for gates.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's been around for a while, because you can even break them if you hit them hard enough.
I know I have broken the gates in IP that are next to the hospital (where the TF starts). Hitting them constantly with SS will cause them to fall off their hinges. -

How about making 2 shirts available?
Shirt 1 would have 1st Place on the front with 3rd place on the back.
Shirt 2 would have 2nd Place on the front with 3rd place on the back.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would definitely buy a Shirt 2. Only because I don't like the coloring of the winning graphic, but I do like the graphic. -

I believe this is against the TOS / ELUA. You're modifying game files from my understanding.
[/ QUOTE ]
Technically, you are modifying a file created by the game and used by the game. BUT, the modifcation doesn't harm the game's function, nor does it allow for altering game play. You can't use it to cheat, farm, exploit, etc.
In cases like this, such as the downloadable map pack and icons, it will probably not be contested by the powers that be. However, should it ever change the game in any way, you can be sure they'll "outlaw" it. As it should be. -
My arc has 3 missions.. each mission has a custom group of 2 minions, 1 lt, and one boss. The final mission has a custom ally and custom AV, plus my custom contact.
For a total of 15 customer critters.
1st mission is defeat a boss.
2nd mission is defeat boss, 4 objects, 1 collection
3rd mission is free ally, and 2 boss defeats.
After it was "Igor-ed" it tests fine.
It runs fine. -
YAY!!! I am able to test my arc now!
Thanks! -
[ QUOTE ]
It is, however, interesting that the arc that didn't work with previous versions works with the current version. I assume nothing but the IGOR version changed since then?
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct. I took the same arc and re-ran it through IGOR. Other than the text issues, the whole arc tested just fine. -
Okay.. I just downloaded the latest version. It took my 127k file down to 49k. The publish and test buttons light up.
However, in text and names, all of the capitalization and spaces after commas are gone. -
I just downloaded and tried IGOR on a mission arc that is 127k. It reduced the file size to 70k, but neither the publish nor the test button light up.

[censored]. The best thing to happen to the community boards is leaving. I am very glad I had the chance to meet you at comic con and I wish you all the best.
As a player, you know you'll always be welcome in Q-Patrol

I think there's something quite ironic in the fact that the only post I have EVER been moderated on happens in a goodbye to Ex! I thought I was safe using ascii characters
Ex, I will really miss you here. I kinda wish you had been the one to mod my post! -

Flame: "Then she was smiling. You don't hit smiling monsters."
There's logic for you.

That's priceless. And sig-worthy.
More updates would definitely NOT take away from the other discussions on this board. It's nice to have something heartwarming and non "flamefest". -

(To the tune of "Age of Aquarius)
"You've reached the awning of the Sage of Asparagus... the Sage of Asparagus... Asparaguuuus... Aspaaaragus!"
Several of the players threatened to quit after that one.

Quite understandable.... -
VEATS are awesome...
But all of the QoL/UI changes REALLY made me happy.. Especially the badge tab overhaul! -

As a player, here's the problem with that video... the two characters formed a leveling pact.. which means they were both level 5 or lower. You don't get your second costume until level 20 or you turn in Halloween salvage..
City Official hero says he wants to fight in Cimerora.. but his player only fights Vahz. If he's high enough to fight in Cimerora, he can't still be fighting Vahz (unless he's constantly using Oroborous or exemping) OR form a leveling pact.
Explaining the benefits of day jobs was interesting, but that means that both players created these characters leveled them up to 5 (or less) then logged them off for 21 days.. Seriously.. who here has made a new character and immediately let it collect dust? (You can hit level 5 in no time.)
I normally enjoy the preview/overview videos, but that one was totally 'meh'. The best one was introducing the Villain Epics -

Capt Colorblind looks forward to meeting you in game! -

I'm just saying make badges as a result of doing stuff, not as a result of NOT doing stuff. I can't see how anyone, regardless of "hardcore badger" status, could be objecting to that.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not a hardcore badger, but I understand your point. However, the point of doing something for a badge, kinda blows itself in the foot when it comes to "spend time in X zone badges."
How many people have gotten the "spend time in zone" badges without actually being at their computer? (Incase it's an exploit, I am not stating how to do it.)
Or, the infamous damage badge trick? Which also lets you not log off, go to sleep, and wake up with a badge or two.
Isn't this the same principle as staying in one place and actually logging off?
